- Wow, you all seemed to like the idea of assigning every Pokémon dual types, so let's try it out for Gen 2 with the Johto region! There were honestly more than I thought, but still some are questionable while others make you wonder why they were stuck as a single type in the first place...

If Fairy Type was introduced in Gen 2, you can definitely bet that Whitney would be a Fairy Type Gym Leader with her Miltank having some Fairy moves
Would she still use Miltank though? You know, since it isn’t a Fairy.

There isn’t any steel types pre-Whitney and only Ekans, Beedrill and Golbat are the only good poison types

Also Umbreon was planned to be a Poison type during early development of Gold/Silver. But it was changed later on, possibly so late that they forgot to change the pokedex entries.

A lot of them do make sense, but I feel that Aipom was the least deserving to be made Fairy type by how it contrasts to the other assigned Normal/Fairy types.
@@Shalakor true but actually the only thing I didnt like is how Cubone gave the Cyndiquil line Normal, like at least Poison so it balances out the typings of the other starters. And Misdreavius Flying? Like we didnt have Rotom Fan who is part Flying and Levitate as an Ability XD

I'd give the Cindaquil line the poison typing, but only because their real-life counterpart is immune to venom

Seeing as the line is connected with volcanos, the poison type could also be put in because volcanic ash

To be honest. I do like Rhyperior. He is incredibly strong, and his design works for me too.
But it should have been the final evolution of his own line, and not just an add-on for ona that was already good without it.
@@janopsilver I can totally see this argument. Maybe Rhyperior could've been he's own with a pré-évolution (As cute as Rhyhorn, obviously) but being related to the Rhyhorn line (like with a common ancestor)

Fairy type pokemon based on Faeries would be amazing.
Ampharos should have been part dragon type, and the teddiursa line should have been dark, they learn a lot of dark type moves, and also due to how teddiursa was depicted in the anime, being deceitful and using its adorable appearance to get away with everything.
Rock/grass is a really underpresented type combination so seeing sudowoodo be one would be very nice.

@@tedpowles7819 Instead of the rock, give it steel and a ability that is like levitate, but for fighting moves. A steel normal type miltank with no fighting weakness, would be the devils work.

Sunflora idea is great, also I think Aipom would probably be better off as a fighting-type given that it would later become an excellent technician user.
Personally, I'd recommend Dark type for the Totodile line. It keeps the effectiveness like Dragon does, but I think it fits their crocodile nature more.

Ghost works better for Stantler. You can make it and Girafarig counterparts even.
@@emperorcubone That is true, it’s movepool does point towards Psychic. Maybe a regional variant that is Normal/Ghost would work? Anything to make people remember it exists lol

@@JOCoStudio1 Girafarig was originally going to be psychic dark, and it’s tail half was supposed to be a full mirror like image, with the same features, just different colors.
I would’ve given the gator family the Dark type, considering Bite and Crunch are something like signature moves for them

Grass resists water, which Sudowoodo responds aggressively to in the storyline. I think Fighting type makes more sense here.

@@taiphonix9232 Dark type might work, since Sudowoodo is a bit of a nuisance and a trickster. But bug type is really creative, like a stick bug!

I completely agree with the choice for the Cyndaquil line. They certainly look like a normal types in their sad 3-D models
Hah, well as many have pointed out they seemed to have fixed that in the Legends Arceus game where Cyndaquil is chilling with his flames out...

I think the Typhlosion line should have Fire/Poison typing because Badgers are known to survive dangerous venoms which Alligators are also highly resistant to venom but they don’t have Poison like choking in smokes from a fire, stand to near an explosion can also make you suffer from radiation and poison you to death.

Cyndaquil is an Echidna
(Look at its snout and it should be obvious in hindsight)
Quilava is a Ferret
(This is the one that I'm the least sure about since Furret is a thing but there are other similar animals it could be based on instead)
Typhlosion is a Honey Badger
(Or Badgers in general)
PS: I wrote the animals starting with capital letters to make them stand out amongst the non-animal words.

The honey badger also has a potent crotch-cannon that functions like that of a skunk (they're pretty closely related)
I’d prefer more:
• Cyndaquil’s line fire/rock
• Phanpy-Donphan were ground/steel
• Misdreavus ghost/fairy
• and Suicune ice/psychic
I know your adding knew types but suicune is a pure water type not pure ice so it would be water psychic

I was just a little too young to remember the Kanto games releasing, but they were my first games thanks to my brother. With Johto, however, some of my oldest and fondest memories are the intro song of the show, collecting Pogs and the Johto music from the games. Oh my, the first seconds of this video hit like a truck.
I chuckled at "it's firmly planted on the ground" in front of a photo of Hitmontop jumping in the air.
When he mentioned it spinning to drill into the ground, that reminded me of how the Hitmontop that Bruno had on his team knew the move Dig, and that was the way I always envisioned it using that move

I used to think for the longest time that Suicune was an ice type, then got really confused why people made theories about Ho-Oh saving the original Eeveelution trio from the Burned Tower cus I was like "but Vaporeon isn't an Ice type"
You could've easily given the Cyndaquil line the Dark type.
Also Fire-Fighting would make the Cyndaquil line fit more to Bakugo from MHA lmao
But it would be FOUR fire fighting starters in a row. That can only end on fan outrage.

1 complaint. Ampharos’s Japanese name is a pun on the word dragon. That’s why it becomes a dragon in mega evolution. So why isn’t it a dragon type?!

I feel like all the legendary Beasts honestly could be Ghost type. Not only with their back story, but their manes tend to have a haunting flow to them, especially for Entei and Suicune.

Imagine if all the eevelutions got a sencon type the same way eevee does when evolving the first time.

A majority of these literally make no sense and have no reasoning behind them.
Well that's why not all of them were rated well, they weren't meant to be dual typed. But please, do offer your own suggestions...
@Deathbychocolate You literally just said because its a plant and it dances, that doesn't really give it reason to be fairy.
@Deathbychocolate ampharos is a pokemon whose light is used to guide lost travelers. But dancing and being a plant is clearly more fairy.
I’m not even particularly a fan of the type combo’s potential but to say bellossom has more of a reason seems like a stretch.
@@emperorcubone If types were being assigned before Fairy was a thing I could definitely see Grass/Fire for Bellossom since it comes from Grass skirt dancers who usually are in hot climate areas like Hawaii. Also with its Chlorophyll ability it would stand a better chance in the sun against other fire types. I will say this type combo was more convincing for the Sunkern line but plenty of generations repeat dual types. (Cough gen 1 grass poison)
@@emperorcubone I'm just saying a lot of your arguments for why different Pokemon should or shouldn't have certain types doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I do think quite a few of the types given do make sense but some of the reasoning doesn't. Example being the Mareep line not getting the fairy type because they don't have any fairy moves, but then you stated that Misdreavus should be flying, which makes sense, but you said they you can just "change its ability to get rid of levitate." By that logic you could make the Mareep line fairy and just "give it fairy moves."
I did enjoy the video and a lot of your type picks made sense and I learnt some cool stuff to, like Stantlers antlers have psychic abilities.
Can’t wait for Hoenn & Sinnoh! And P.S. I don’t you were overly liberal with the dragon type! But I hope you make Milotic part dragon, it learns so many dragon moves and resembles a sea serpent! (So many erroneously make it fairy because it’s pretty -.-)

I think I would've given the Totodile line the dark typing because scary crocodiles are scary. But then you'd have to give the Cyndaquil line the psychic/ghost typing in order to round out the new type trio you've created.

"Kind, compassionate, healing" is definitely not the very essence of what fairy should be. The type fit very well with trickster beings, like Klefki and Impidimp.

I'm just going to say Dragon is the only type no Starter should get unless it's for Mega Evolution.
I think Dragon is fine for a starter, by simply evolving. We already have Primarina, a fairy, so a dragon starter should exist as well.

we've had fairy and steel type starters already, which are arguably even better (especially with the latter in gen 4)

Alola had a of hard hitting Grass Types mainly Bulu,Kartana and (HA) Lurantis.
Fairy isn't great that great with Grass/Fairy or Water/Fairy.
If another starter has a type that counters it then I think it’s fine like the fairy type

I know this kinda changes Sudowoodo's lore, but its perfect.
The Bug Type.
Not only does it not overlap with any crucial points of it, it kind of benefits sudowoodo by getting rid of its grass weakness, making it neutral to grass as it collects leaves and uses it in its moveset. This also references a real animal, the stick bug, which makes it even better as they both camouflage. Sudowoodo already would like the stab for moves like Megahorn, and it even has antennae.
Bug is the best choice.

I’d be interested in seeing you handle triple typed Pokémon. After this series my suggestion would be to go back to the original duel typed Pokémon (not the ones with newly added types) and give them a third type. For example making beedril poison, bug, flying. Might be a bit too hard but I personally think it could be interesting.

Dark instead of Dragon for the Totodile line. Feraligatr can learn only two offensives Dragon move in addition of DD, then it need more a STAB for its Crunch than only two Dragon move. It's a crocodile and it have a powerful jaw so...
Yep. I’ve always seen Feraligatr as the edgy/scary one of the Johto starters, so Dark would make the most sense.

Fairies are chaotic neutral nature spirit tricksters in most mythology. Some are more kind and some are very cruel but in the main mythos for fairies they are otherworldly yet natural; elemental of nature, who tend to be oddly hard for humans to understand and in general chaotic neutral tricksters. If you want to focus on the 'good' fairies they are defiantly 'chaotic good'. But yes they tend towards being cute and beautiful. Still many are more ugly goblins/trolls, etc. Really Fey/fairy run the gamut but tend to be on the free/chaotic side.
I however do agree with the dual fairy types you picked here. You see how Aipom actually 100% fits the fairy mythos for example.

Good news. Stantler's evolution is psychic type.
Very good call with Sunflora, I can see it happening sometime in the future, making Grass-Fire regional variant seems very plausible (since Sunflora desperately needs something)
