Cloyster always had a ice/poison vibe for me, because of its color and the needle it shoots. And it learns toxic spikes. But that is really all there is to it.
@@ZGlove.regional form with poisonous snot? Ice and poison are my two favorite types so I am really anticipating this combo getting checked off the list 😩
I guess the problem with cloyster is it leans more towards water than ice, if it indeed was poison, so why would you go ice poison when you can go water poison, same for dewgong being normal ice, is like why would you substract the water since it more its thing
I think Slither Wing could've definitely have been a Bug/Dragon type as well. It's tail is very reptililian and it being prehistoric also helps its case.
♫SlitherWing is a Dino Moth from our Imagination♫ ♫Lizard like with Firey Wings, yet still not a F$%&ing Dragon.♫ (Credit to DeadBedSpread: Blatant Disregard for Bug/Dragon Types)
The arrangement of the wings on its back also implies stegosaurus inspiration, and we already have precedent for stegosaurs being Dragon type with Dracozolt and Dracovish. Also I don't understand why it's a fighting type.
If I can make a case for Victini, it was created before the Fairy type was even created, and there are plenty of legendaries that could've clearly been Fairy types like Celebi or the Lake trio, but those were all specifically not chosen to be retyped in Gen 6. I think they didn't want to alter the typings of legendary Pokemon in any way with these new typings which is why they didn't do anything to Victini. But your point about them overwriting a different type makes sense as well, since I think Normal tends to be a stand-in for a lot of things where another type wouldn't make as much sense, like some sound based mons being part normal type. Even then Fairy wouldn't have existed I think until Gen 6 since it was kinda made as a counter to the overpowered Dragon type because it was becoming kinda invasive in competitive
Its amazing that if you change Sableye's typing from Ghost/Dark to Ghost/Rock, it goes from only having 1 weakness to having 6. (7 + a 4x weakness if it goes into Dark/Rock)
Or how about a poisonous lizard that lives in cold places and also utilises freezing breath. It's just like a typical poisonous lizard but only adapts in cold areas like snow. I think that would be a great idea for Ice/Poison.
! This ! Thank you - I was thinking the other day (before this video), that it's crazy that the pokemon whose ability is "Well-Baked Body" isn't a fire type!
When you pointed out poison ice my thoughts were H Sneasle and Sneasler. It honestly makes the most sense since they have the whole poison vibe but also sneaslers claws look like those mountain climbing gear as well as being in a place filled with snow and ice.
I think tarountula and spidops could also work really well as bug/normal types. They don’t have anything to do with sound but string is an everyday item and helps give them that ”normal type vibe”
Yea but the spidops would suck more lol like it could get fake out or extremespeed maybe? But yea just giving it another weakness and not giving it a boost of any kind. I like spidops but they need to stop making garbage bug types lol especially since they have great designs overall imo
Dachsbun could also totally be a Fairy-Fire type, since the main attribute it gains when evolving is that it gets cooked. Additionally, Cubchoo and possibly Beartic could be Ice/Poison, with the whole sickness idea which links to poison.
"Is it just a cyberspace programmed virtual creature. . . that looks like a duck? Normal type." That might be the funniest thing ever said on this channel 😂
Yeah, Porygon is the one Pokemon that doesn't exactly fit into Normal type. Normal-type Pokemon are Pokemon who: - closely resemble real-life animals and are aesthetically similar to them (f.e.: Tauros is a bull, Ursaring is a bear, Bibarel is a beaver, Pyroar is a lion, etc.) - are associated with the aspect of sound (like Exploud line, Arboliva line or Meloetta) - can control multiple elements at once (Arceus, Regigigas, Silvally, also Eevee and Smeargle to some degree) But Porygon doesn't fit into any of these three categories. The most probable is the third one, but that's a bit of a stretch.
Dunsparce could work as a ground/fairy type imo. It’s known for digging tunnels and living in caves, and it has little wings and a cutesy vibe to its design.
I'm honestly surprised Dunsparce isn't Ground and/or Bug type. It's entire body structure fits the part for Bug/Ground, even down to the wings. Then again, I once attempted to make a final evolution stage for Dunsparce that adds the Dragon type called Dragunsparce 😅😅
Fairy fits perfectly for a cryptid. Honestly, if Dunsparce evolved into just Dunsparce with fairy-esque wings, I'd be fine with it, because at least it'd be something different that fits its vibes. (in case it's not clear, I hate Dudunsparce)
I actually thought of something that I think would be a cool concept for an Ice/Poison type. I tried looking up for any arctic poisonous animals, and came across a venomous arctic snake. I haven't looked much into it, but I think I have a way for how to explain it. This Ice/Poison type could resemble a white snake with icicle-like fangs. It could have a Pokédex entry saying "This Pokémon likes to camouflage by burrowing in the snow as it hunts. While its venom is harmless in warmer weather, frigid temperatures will cause the venom to become deadly." I think the idea of a venomous snake whose venom is harmless in warm temperatures but becomes deadly in colder temperatures could be fitting. As if the venom is crafted specifically for freezing the unready from the inside out, and making them easy prey. And how interesting would it be to have a cold-blooded creature get its title in a more literal sense?
The thing that make the compo of ice poison difficult it not only that they are very specialized type but also that those type kind contrebalancer one and a other. Poison, venom are liquid something the ice will would kind freeze, gaz and smelly thing smell less in cold. Exemple how a cold coffee or tea smell less strong compared to when they are hot. And if a liquide or substance is know to kill us will being considered cold, well most of the time it’s the cold the is the cause of the death not a poison how work at low temperature. But you know was could work well, sometime if undead creature that keep itself alive using ice but that the decomposing body some poison effect
Maby it would be a stupide idea but imagine a regional form a parasect with this concept. Instead of mushrooms it a ice parasite that would eat the body form inside and then use the romaine as a protective sut again the heat of the outside world.

i think they did poison/fighting to mirror the glass cannon vibe from Wevile, but instead of a quad weakness to fighting they're quad weak to physic, but those two types offensively cover each other's weaknesses fairly well, save for the physics and ghosts of course.
I swear it had been a while since the last informative Micheal video. Reminds me of the times when he went over all sorts of fun Pokémon topics. Nice video man!
I’ve always loved this type of content, Jwittz was a favorite growing up. I’m glad Micheal went for whatever Jwittz didn’t and made more videos for the next generation of Pokémon fans and games.
Fairy/Fire would be such a great type combination, conceptually. There's so much potential there for some really cool designs! Like an elegant fire spirit, or a flamenco dancer Pokemon or something.
Some people are saying Cubchoo for Ice/Poison. The dex states "Their snot is a barometer of health. When healthy, their snot is sticky and the power of their ice moves increases." Also ," If a Cubchoo lacks dangling snot, there’s a chance it is sick." So, you could make Cubchoo Ice/Poison and give it a new ability. Something like "Wellness", where if the Pokémon is a 50% or more in HP its Ice type moves are powered up. Below 50% HP and its Poison type moves are powered up. You could also add in a new form for Beartic called Bearsik. If you level up Cubchoo at 50% HP or more it will evolve into Beartic, and Ice type Pokémon. If you level it up at less at 50% it will evolve into Bearsik, an Ice/Poison type Pokémon.
I’ve had a kinda weird, arguably disturbing idea for an Ice/Poison type for a while now, but that’s quite fitting for the Pokémon in mind. A regional variant of Spiritomb where the spirits are those of people who have died of illness and plagues and the “key stone” is a chunk of permafrost from the ground the dead were buried in long ago.
I've heard as such, though I don't think there's really a whole lot of youkai that are actually ghost type. I mean in it's debut generation there's basically none unless the Ghastly line happens to be based on something like that. Dunsparce is Normal, Jynx is Psychic/Ice, the Voltorb line is Electric as well as the Pikachu line, Drowzee is a Baku, etc.
Ninetales being japanese yokai lends rather well to Fairy type's eclectic menagerie of folklore beings, but I see your point. Darmanitan also fits Fae now I think of it, since it's a toy inspired by a mythical monk figure.
@@Sir-gacha-magic.555 Goodra doesnt really look like a dragon, it is based on the Lou Carolh, which is a serpentine snail mythical creature in French folklore. Altaria based of a Peng from chinese folklore. And Ampharos is a dragon due to japanese word play on its name of Denryu which roughly translates to electric wire but split apart would be electric dragon.
Similarly Appllin is a dragon because it is based of the idea of a Worm or Wyrm in this case inside an apple but it is also based off on the dragon on Linton, so the things name is Apple, In, and the Dragon of LINton.
ı really like the idea of making the lycanrock forms the types youve suggested, since it would make the midday and midnight form be equally weaker to the dusk form which is the "leader" form of lycanrock
I've always felt that Ninetales would be best as Fire-Ghost, given that supernatural can associate to ghosts just as much as fae, the decent amount of Ghost moves it learns, and its association with spirits. There are Ninetales statutes in the Pokemon Tower, Vulpix on Mount Pyre, and so on.
@@cupie2255 if you are talking about anime then I would like to bring into your notice that in the kanto region, there was an episode of ash, Brock and Misty encountering a ninetales that can use psychic powers. Also if you have watched that episode, ninetales didn't even act like a ghost.
@pokechannel9758 I am talking about that episode, and although it did use telekinetic powers, its overall tone was much more ominous and it created several illusions, and even at the end of the episode it faded away, seemingly moving on to the afterlife like a ghost that was no longer tethered to its haunting ground which is commonly seen in fiction. Other ghosts types in the show have utilized similar powers, and ninetales did not have access to neither confusion nor psychic.
@@cupie2255 the tone was ominous as the writers had set up the story like that. Illusions come under psychic powers. It didn't move to an afterlife. It just wandered off to another place. Other ghosts like in the gengar line episode and litwick episode create spooky environment and scare people which didn't happened in ninetails episode. I checked ninetails' move pool and it has same number of ghost and psychic moves.
One thing with Delphox making more sense as a fire/fairy type is that the starter secondary type trio breaks. And now Delphox is super effective versus both the starters.
And yet they've already done something similar to this before in Gen 4, with Infernape being super effective against both Empoleon (Fighting vs. Steel) and Torterra (Fire vs. Grass). So then why not do it again? There's also any starter Trio with Protean and/or Libero in the mix where type balance in the trio has been completely thrown out the window, Gen 6 being where Protean came from, so delphox would still be weak to Greninja who could just turn itself into a pure water via water moves, thus losing the weakness to Delphox's Fairy Typing, if Delphox were to gain said Fairy Typing in place of it's Psychic Type.
@vothahne489 To expand Delphox is based on the delphi mystics, which are often related to mystic(psychic) powers, the used their powers to see the future often using a flame or Apollos light (the sun god) It also primarily focuses on it using its (keyword) psychic powers to see the future, which has always been shown to be a psychic type property It also has no relation to healing, a real-life fae creature, or the moon There are only two mons, Dachsbun and Victini who can count as Fire/Fairy, Delphox is primarily first a psychic type
To give Sneasler more credit as Ice/Poison: it’s based on the transition fur pattern many rodents like Weasels and Stoats go through between Summer and Winter which explain the patches of purple fur contrasting the mostly grey design, it’s claws-while based on Shiki weapons-are also based on ice pickaxes hence why it helps you climb in Legends Arceus, and not only is fighting not a great fit given that the only thing that mentions it’s physicality is the Pokédex and the fact that it Carrie’s you-Toxicroak already had the same type combo in the SAME REGION making another Ice/Fighting type redundant. Also, from a balancing standpoint Ice/Poison while VERY frail is also great against 2 of the best types Fairy and Dragon. While not a perfect typing I think Sneasler at the very least could be justified as Ice instead of Fighting.
Personally, I feel like a cool concept for an Ice/Poison-Type would be a regional variant of Salandit and Salazzle. The names and typing likely come from "salamander," which is not only an actual animal that exists, but also a mythical creature that is basically a giant fire lizard. And while it may not actually be something as familiar in Japan, I know that in western culture, specifically pop culture with fantasy games like D&D, there is a creature that is the salamander's opposite; the frost salamander. Rather than being a lizard that is constantly ablaze, frost salamanders are creatures that can withstand great cold, and are often paired with ice breath and other feats of cryomancy (manipulating ice). Salandit and Salazzle are Fire/Poison and are likely partially inspired by the mythical fire salamanders, so a frosty regional variant isn't so far-fetched. Plus, shiny Salazzle looks like it could be great inspiration for an Ice/Poison-Type.
Mykel Ryan is making his own Pokemon region based off of Iceland which has an ice/poison type regional variant of Salandit with a regional evolution, if you’re interested
My personal idea for an Ice/Poison Pokémon would be a Greenland shark (those things apparently have highly toxic flesh) that moves on land by sliding so I can justify it not being a water type
0:48 I feel like Sableye is Dark/Ghost because of its inspiration. It's based in part on the Hopskinville Goblin, an alien that was apparently inmmune to normal attacks. No weaknesses (at the time) feels close enough to invincibility without being broken.
23:39 Imagine a Raticate evolution with Normal/Steel that depicted a rat stuck in a mousetrap. But instead of being killed, it fused with the trap and became a Steel type.
And also every starter gains a double supereffective against each other, since usualy its Water > Fire > Grass > Fire..., but also Dark (water) > Psychic (fire) > Fighting (Grass) > Dark (Water), essentialy reinforcing the weakness triangle.
They have unique typing that fit them, and the secondary types already go in the direction of its disadvantages. Bother the Fure, Water, Grass triangle is the same as the Psychic, Dark, and Fighting triangle.
Then you would make Greninja a water/steel type, and maybe give it a steel knife and steel shurikens instead of water ones. That way the triangle still works
@@asherdevinNo Chesnaught would be the one to get Steel (Metal) due to it being bulletproof & covered in armour. Greninja also doesn't have any Steel type moves.
I think it’d be really cool if they made an ice/poison Pokémon who, when melts, releases some kind of poison. It ties into real life as most diseases have come from ancient variants released from melted glaciers and into water streams, hence getting the population using glacier run-off sick. So, this concept for a Pokémon would give it physical properties for both its types, and real-life lore.
A while ago i had an idea for a fakemon who was a flask of poison (the flask made of ice) and after being attacked the ice would smash and spread a new hazard on the ground which is poisonous shards of ice, similar to stealth rock and poison spike In my idea it went from ice/poison to psychic/poison after being attacked
@@convalariain Pokemon Clover, the Nido-fakemon is Ice/Poison. It eats anything it can in the cold, making it immune to poisons, but unable to digest the toxins. This makes the Mon secrete the poison out of skin, which freezes into a protective layer of frozen poison which it uses against opponents
For Ice/Poison i have some more candidates: Cetitan has spikes on its head that could easily be made into poison spikes. Smoochum and Jynx could give you "the kiss of death" by kissing you and then leaving you to die, like if you're poisoned. Frosmoth is a moth, and both Venomoth and Dustox are also moths and are poison type.
I personally thought, Rock Ghost should've been introduced in Paldea. So Tyme and Ryme could have Pokémon with both of their specialized type in their team to reference their relation like Tulip and Dendra.
Again, we circle back to Houndstone who works perfectly for them given their backstory and Houndstone having Sand Rush. It's like it was meant to be Rock considering how they benefit the most from Sandstorm.
Imagine if Ryme and Tyme's aces were Garganacl and Houndstone, making them reference each other and having Tyme do what gym leaders do, since she was a gym leader.
In my opinion a really cool bug/dragon type could maybe be a spider that weaves webs in the shapes of big dragons to hide the fact it’s actually quite small, because it could end up having some really cool puppeteer elements maybe
@@nightmarexgaming120 However its evos feel more like dragons then bugs, and they fused with the apple. So it would end up in a bug/ground situation where there's no final evolutions with this type combo, making it kind of forgetable (Also, I know wormadam exists but I like to think it doesn't exist, or at least not the other forms)
I'd like to point out I feel like other possible contenders for Ice/Normal could be the penguins of the series: Delibird and Eiscue. While flying makes sense for Delibird in the pokémon world, normally penguins can't actually fly, and both of these just look like regular penguins with some Ice theme around them thus Ice/Normal would make sense in my opinion.
I'd argue Psychic ALSO has a high link to "Light". Such as "Photon Geysir", "Light Screen" and "Light that burns the Sky" all being Psychic-Type, as well as Necrozma being Mono-Psychic.
My headcannon has always been that the Fossilization/Restoration processes changed the pokemon into rock types from another type it had during the actual prehistory.
Same head cannon, plus I thought we'd eventually find a Prof. who was able to revert Fossils back to their original forms so they can all evolve again and lose the Rock type. My head cannon: Kabutops: Bug/Fighting Omastar: Dark/Water Aerodactyl: Dragon/Fighting Cradily: Grass/Ground Armaldo: Bug/Dragon Rampardos: Fighting Bastiodon: Normal/Steel Carracosta: Ground/Water Archeops: Fighting/Flying Tyrantrum: Dark/Dragon Aurorus: Fairy/Ice And the 4 mixed are their separate originals and Relicanth gets the Minior treatment
@@joseguadalupemartineztorre9702 I always thought it would be cool to 'discover' that the fossilization hid traits of a secondary type...Like, Bastiodon was secretly a Grass/Steel; Rampardos was Fire type; or Omastar was a Water/Poison type.
@@davidharshman7645 we definitely need more Pokemon games in the past so we can have a Prehistoric game with the true types of fossil Pokemon plus ancient versions of current Pokemon. We can finally get a good looking Rhyperior and a different type of catching mechanic because it can be before apricorns.
11:48 Delphox yes but there’s a reason why it’s psychic The Kalos starters have their final evolutions have a second type that’s another type triangle. That being fighting->dark->psychic. If Delphox was fire fairy it would break the cycle and have super effective STAB moves on greninja, the water dark type.
I think Sableeye and Spiritomb having Dark/Ghost typing is best call. If you want to have potential mon to be rock and ghost maybe have a regional variant of another Pokémon you least expect it to have or my preference here would be a Terracota mummy Pokémon made up of salt and mysterious alien stones but have an ability that allows them to use another type effectively. (1:13)
A way they could fix the older fossil Pokémon to remove the Rock typing is to reintroduce them as regional forms, but make the regional form the new main form. Essentially like how if you move a Galarian Meowth to Paldea and breed it, the egg will produce a Kantonian Meowth unless the Galarian parent was holding an everstone.
I'll like to see a rock ghost type Mansion pokemon in the next game. Just imagine how cool it would be traversing through a house that's actually a Pokémon
personally, ever since alola 'tales was released, i've been an advocate for ninetales being fire/ghost because to me it's been much more related to spirits and curses then psychic powers or fae pranks.
I think a good concept for a poison/ ice type is a pokemon based off melting permafrost releasing ancient diseases, so maybe a variant of Avalugg in a hot region. Or maybe a pokemon based off the flu like a pig who’s cold and sick, or a variant of cubchoo where it’s snot is infectious
@@Feawfeaw With a name like "Chillnobyl", I would've expected it to come from the memescape that is Pokemon Clover. ...acutally, give me a minute. ...Yes! Sage was made by people from 4chan too. Though from what I've seen by looking through the 'dex, it actually looks pretty cool and not joke-y. I'm... actually interested in it! Doubt I'll ever play it, since I'm lazier than Slaking, but it's still interesting.
I think Dachsbun would also work as a fire/fairy more since it is already a fairy type and it goes from raw bread dough to baked bread dough which requires heat. Its ability is also well-baked body that makes it immune to fire moves and also increases it's defense when hit by one
To me, the difference between Psychic and Fairy in terms of magic is to do with how magic interacts with the Pokémon. Psychic types *harness* the magic (i.e. the abra line) and use it as a power source to attack Fairy types are *inherently* magic (i.e the cleffa line) and expel it as their attacks So for Delphox, I still see it as Fire/Psychic since it’s explicitly harnessing magic rather than being inherently so Victini, on the other hand, is literally the embodiment of victory which is as close to being inherently magic as you could get so 100% Victini should be Fire/Fairy Ninetales is a weird case since we don’t get a lot of information about the Pokémon but going off it’s inspiration (the Kitsune), I would say it is Fire/Fairy but for a different reason than being magic. Personally, due to the fact that it is a mythological trickster, I see it closer to Klefki or Grimmsnarl in that it is Fairy due to its meddling nature alongside being birthed from folklore
@@fadhilmulyono9230 Well yes that’s why we’re talking in hypotheticals and how old Pokémon could fit into type combos that still don’t exist today. Theory crafting doesn’t need to take into account the contemporary creative limitations
the psychic type definitely fits better, especially with extra context from the mystery dungeon games. The games aren't canon, but they expand on information we already know to be true
Well, I agree that Fairy is inherently magic, but so is Dragon. Fairy is probably like "White" magic in a JRPG, while Dragon is "Black" or offensive magic. I feel like Psychic is more like "performance" magic and illusions. More like neat tricks to fool and entertain a crowd that don't actually break physics.
@@Jw87563 Dragon is a weird case since I don’t believe there are any dragon type Pokémon which are dragon type for the sole reason of being magical. To me, Dragon’s mystical presence can be boiled down to nothing more than higher than average stats or a statement of their rarity. Additionally, calling Psychic type moves essentially performance tricks really gives them a disservice when they have moves such as Telekinesis, Gravity, Teleport and Psystrike. I’d say manipulating the force of nature that is Gravity and crushing your enemies under a mass of psychic energy is more than performance tricks but that’s just me
I could see a regional variant of Cloyster being a Poison/Ice type. If it followed a similar path that Galarian Corsola did and took on a polluted water inspiration, this time doing it for colder regions, I think it could work well. Cloyster adapted to the toxicity of the water by becoming a poison type itself. Pokedex entries could be something like "The frigid temperatures of the surrounding sea caused debris to freeze against various parts of Cloyster's body, forcing it to adapt in order to survive. It's shell has started secreting a cold, sticky substance that can instantly freeze anything it touches." "Some people have reported seeing these Cloyster purposely go after frozen debris. While the reason behind this is currently unknown, it is theorized that the debris is used to give their shells a larger and sturdier appearance."
I actually made a rock/ghost fakemon, which starts off as a tombstone, which evolves into a guider for lost souls, which then evolves into a samurai that acts like a protector of living souls.
Counterpoint for Delphox She's also an augur/based on the oracle of Delphi. Seeing the future, which is related to psychic types, fits her better than fairy
....you just misgendered approximately _87.5%_ of a species. Also, there's nothing stopping Braixen from being Fire/Fairy, for the probably-added-after-deciding-upon-the-type things haven't kicked in yet. Also, what better way to advertise a new type than with not only the most popular starter type, but one of, if not the, most popular type overall? It's probably part of why Dedenne is fairy type, having an early experience with a new type being paired with an existing, already highly popular type, so slapping onto your Fire starter an old type and then hastily covering it up by claiming inspirations and inserting Pokédex entries is just wrong when you pair that same hip, new type with Electric in _the same exact generation._
@@prof.reuniclus21 Except I doubt that the English names were decided before the species type (or existence of the Fairy type for that matter; see: Blacky/Umbreon being Poison type at the same time Kirinriki/Girafarig was Dark/Normal), and I don't know about you, but Mahoxy doesn't sound like the Psychic type in particular.
Delphox should stay fire/psychic because of the secondary attack triangle between the Kalos starters. Chesnaught's fighting is super effective against Greninja's dark, Greninja's dark against Delphox's psychic, and Delphox's psychic against Chesnaught's fighting. If Delphox was fairy type, it wouldn't be balanced.
The only time they arguably cared about fully evolved starter balance was gen 2. And even then, meta reasonings throw it off-balance, which is a problem for all generations, but it's even worse in certain later gens where the best starter for tackling the bosses is already the best one in at least one of the following: >type combination in a vacuum >type combination outside of a vacuum >stats >non-"boost your primary STAB moves despite them already being boosted by being STAB when on low health" abilit(y/ies) (seriously, can we get a starter trio that doesn't have "pinch mode that only affects moves _already boosted to begin with"_ as their sole normal abilities?) >learnset

I’m surprised by there not being a ice/poison Pokémon already, a frozen stonefish would make a good candidate or a new snake-like Pokémon that’s said to come from the artic
See European adders a species of snake that though unlikely can still kill it lives in the Arctic. You've also got Greenland shark's who's meat is quite toxic. Guess problem with them is they move as fast as a giant tortoise so a low speed stat would only make sense and poison and ice are known for weaknesses.
100% agree that the different types for each Lycanroc form would have been more interesting. I love dark types and the appearance of the Midnight form and the concept were enough to make it my favorite Pokémon
@@KraylebStudios You know Cloyster is an Ice-type, right? It's Water/Ice. And considering that Shellder is canonically venomous, yeah, Poison/Ice would be a solid fit.
The distinction between Rock and Ground is *generally* where Rock is "made of rock" and Ground is "manipulates seismic activity", but there is some overlap when it comes to sand. There is other media that has a distinction between Rock and Ground, like Jackie Chan Adventures, where three of Shendu's siblings have Mountain, Earth, and Moon (gravity and darkness) powers.
I will say I did have a few ideas on how to do Bug/Normal or Ice/Poison. The first one is a literal wolf-spider hybrid Pokemon, but the second one was a regional Tepig that was forced into a colder Ultra Space environment and that rapidly changed it to be Ice type, eventually developing a more pathogenic ability in the latter stages (a cold, walking disease monster)
As much as I like your reasoning for why delphox should be fairy, I don’t think you can change it’s psychic type because the Kalos starters have a type triangle with their secondary types in addition to their main ones (fighting/psychic/dark) Also I’m surprised you didn’t mention slither wing for bug/dragon. That’s usually the most common Pokémon I see discussed when bug/dragon comes up apart from flygon
19:02 short Japanese lesson: while Tonbo (トンボ or 蜻蛉) is typically used to describe a regular Dragonfly or Damselfly, Yanma (ヤンマ or 蜻蜒) is used to describe a large Dragonfly So yes, Yanma's name is literally just the Japanese word for a large Dragonfly And no, it has no relation to the Japanese word for Dragon, Ryū (リュウ, 竜 or 龍)
One I've been annoyed at for not getting the bug - dragon combo is Slither Wing. It is very draconic and the wings become spikes on its back. And also, Dreamworks already made a Slitherwing from HTTYD, which IS a dragon.
Now that Mandjtv mentioned that dog Pokemon tend to dig a lot and have strong potential of being Ground/Fairy, I think that would be a great idea for a new dog Pokemon that is a Ground/Fairy type. I know WolfeyVGC wouldn't like it, but I would be interested to see it.
I think H-Sneasel and Sneasler make great Ice/Poison candidates! I actually thought that was their type combo before I found out what they really were.
Makes sense, it'd be way to strong against Chesnaught with Grass being weak to Fire and Fighting being weak Fairy while also being able to beat Greninja who's Dark type would be weak to Fairy, meaning Delphox would be the objective best starter unlike the full counter Grass/Fighting beats Water/Dark beats Fire/Psychic loop.
Fire/Fairy is the duo type that I personally have always wanted to have since Fairy types became a thing. Fire and Fairy are my two favorite types, I would love a combination of the two
One thing to note about Ninetails is that it is obviously a reference to kitsune. Kitsune are typically portrayed as tricksters or outright malevolent (unless they are servants of Inari, the Shinto god of prosperity)

Hey
Cloyster always had a ice/poison vibe for me, because of its color and the needle it shoots. And it learns toxic spikes. But that is really all there is to it.
Slowbro's and Slowking dex entries even talk about Shellder's poison so it's a perfect fit!

Yeah, Porygon is the one Pokemon that doesn't exactly fit into Normal type.
Normal-type Pokemon are Pokemon who:
- closely resemble real-life animals and are aesthetically similar to them (f.e.: Tauros is a bull, Ursaring is a bear, Bibarel is a beaver, Pyroar is a lion, etc.)
- are associated with the aspect of sound (like Exploud line, Arboliva line or Meloetta)
- can control multiple elements at once (Arceus, Regigigas, Silvally, also Eevee and Smeargle to some degree)
But Porygon doesn't fit into any of these three categories. The most probable is the third one, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Always thought H-Sneasel should’ve been Poison/Ice, was weird to me that they made it the same type as Croagunk, who’s already native to Sinnoh/Hisui
While its venom is harmless in warmer weather, frigid temperatures will cause the venom to become deadly."
I think the idea of a venomous snake whose venom is harmless in warm temperatures but becomes deadly in colder temperatures could be fitting.

When healthy, their snot is sticky and the power of their ice moves increases." Also ," If a Cubchoo lacks dangling snot, there’s a chance it is sick."
So, you could make Cubchoo Ice/Poison and give it a new ability.

There should be a Hisui form with that typing
A. Exeggutor’s dragon typing is based off a Hawaiian dragon called a Mo’o which often shapeshifts into rocks, women, and trees.

One thing with Delphox making more sense as a fire/fairy type is that the starter secondary type trio breaks. And now Delphox is super effective versus both the starters.
They were doing for a double balanced triangle, so happy it worked out
is that a good thing??? like, ik delphox is kinda weak, but then just buff its stats!
@@mite3959 Delphox actually does really solid in lower tiers, OU and UU are where it struggles, but not the worst for other tiers
@vothahne489 To expand

Also a toxicroak regional variant that uses low body temperatures to freeze an opponent while they die of poison would be bad ass
so.....a Blizzard Lizard?
My personal idea for an Ice/Poison Pokémon would be a Greenland shark (those things apparently have highly toxic flesh) that moves on land by sliding so I can justify it not being a water type
I thought a good idea could also be instead of only a female one evolving, why not make it male this time instead?
0:48 I feel like Sableye is Dark/Ghost because of its inspiration. It's based in part on the Hopskinville Goblin, an alien that was apparently inmmune to normal attacks. No weaknesses (at the time) feels close enough to invincibility without being broken.

23:39 Imagine a Raticate evolution with Normal/Steel that depicted a rat stuck in a mousetrap. But instead of being killed, it fused with the trap and became a Steel type.
The issue with Delphox is that they wanted to make the starters have two super effective moves against the other starter that Shauna uses.
And also every starter gains a double supereffective against each other, since usualy its Water > Fire > Grass > Fire..., but also Dark (water) > Psychic (fire) > Fighting (Grass) > Dark (Water), essentialy reinforcing the weakness triangle.
you know except for the fact the secondary type triangle goes in the same direction as the existing starter triangle
A while ago i had an idea for a fakemon who was a flask of poison (the flask made of ice) and after being attacked the ice would smash and spread a new hazard on the ground which is poisonous shards of ice, similar to stealth rock and poison spike
In my idea it went from ice/poison to psychic/poison after being attacked

personally, ever since alola 'tales was released, i've been an advocate for ninetales being fire/ghost because to me it's been much more related to spirits and curses then psychic powers or fae pranks.
Or something like Chillnobyl from the Pokemon Sage fangame.
Well there's a element on the periodic table that it's both poisonous and cooling, antimonium.
Psychic types *harness* the magic (i.e. the abra line) and use it as a power source to attack
Fairy types are *inherently* magic (i.e the cleffa line) and expel it as their attacks
So for Delphox, I still see it as Fire/Psychic since it’s explicitly harnessing magic rather than being inherently so
Victini, on the other hand, is literally the embodiment of victory which is as close to being inherently magic as you could get so 100% Victini should be Fire/Fairy
Ninetales is a weird case since we don’t get a lot of information about the Pokémon but going off it’s inspiration (the Kitsune), I would say it is Fire/Fairy but for a different reason than being magic. Personally, due to the fact that it is a mythological trickster, I see it closer to Klefki or Grimmsnarl in that it is Fairy due to its meddling nature alongside being birthed from folklore
Well actually prior to the introduction of the Fairy type in Gen 6, the Psychic type was the only best type to represent magic at that time
@@fadhilmulyono9230 Well yes that’s why we’re talking in hypotheticals and how old Pokémon could fit into type combos that still don’t exist today.
I’d say manipulating the force of nature that is Gravity and crushing your enemies under a mass of psychic energy is more than performance tricks but that’s just me
As soon as Dachshunds are mentioned, I start to smile harder o3o

“Is it just a cyber-space programmed virtual creature that looks like a duck? … normal type.”
It could’ve been normal/psychic type or just psychic
This has inspired me to continue making my "full stage dragon for each type" series, thx you 😌💙🐲
I actually made a rock/ghost fakemon, which starts off as a tombstone, which evolves into a guider for lost souls, which then evolves into a samurai that acts like a protector of living souls.
Counterpoint for Delphox
She's also an augur/based on the oracle of Delphi.
@@bubbykins4864it’s literally called _Delphox_ , like the oracle of Delphi. Oracles and prophets seem pretty psychic-y to me.
And even then, meta reasonings throw it off-balance, which is a problem for all generations, but it's even worse in certain later gens where the best starter for tackling the bosses is already the best one in at least one of the following:
>type combination in a vacuum
>type combination outside of a vacuum
>stats
>non-"boost your primary STAB moves despite them already being boosted by being STAB when on low health" abilit(y/ies) (seriously, can we get a starter trio that doesn't have "pinch mode that only affects moves _already boosted to begin with"_ as their sole normal abilities?)

I really hope that Grunty Boi’s battle with the fly is either continued or finished in the next episode
Grunty Boi admitting to having a skill issue is one of the funniest bits yet.
13:38 bro is ignoring Ralts, Cottonee, Mawile and Mr. Mime.
Fire fairy is the most interesting of these unused combos in my opinion, there's a lot of potential for great Pokémon designs from that typing
As I once already mentioned on one other miky's video, my suggestion, could be fire/fairy type pokemon to be a based on will-o-whisps
@@aigarskarlstrems7674 that's what I was thinking, though a ghost fire type might be more fitting for that but both options work
100% agree that the different types for each Lycanroc form would have been more interesting. I love dark types and the appearance of the Midnight form and the concept were enough to make it my favorite Pokémon
What about cloyster for ice poison? It looks quite venomous with its purple color, and it also learns quite a lot of poison type moves.
Cloyster should get a new regional form in the next games.
Conchs (similar to snails/clams) possess some of the deadliest toxins in nature.
Yes
It's not even related to Ice lmao
@@KraylebStudios You know Cloyster is an Ice-type, right? It's Water/Ice. And considering that Shellder is canonically venomous, yeah, Poison/Ice would be a solid fit.
16:20 did bro just whip out a real life Pokédex entry? 😂
Your Galarian Corsola and Cursola is very valid, and it goes with Florges not being a grass type, when it can learn so many grass moves
Great video Mikey! Keep up the good work
This video and the previous ASPITPIAY was definitely worth the wait :)
I think you could make a point for Dachsbun being a fire/fairy type too. Not a strong point, but it's already immune to fire types because it's burnt
All of your videos are thoroughly researched and every explanation makes perfect sense. I love them 🎉
As much as I like your reasoning for why delphox should be fairy, I don’t think you can change it’s psychic type because the Kalos starters have a type triangle with their secondary types in addition to their main ones (fighting/psychic/dark)
Also I’m surprised you didn’t mention slither wing for bug/dragon. That’s usually the most common Pokémon I see discussed when bug/dragon comes up apart from flygon
It's stupid how more people don't mention the actual dragonfly, Yanmega.
@@gengarzilla1685but the word "Dragonfly" only exists in English, there's nothing about dragons in the name in other languages
You mean I'm not the only person who thinks Slither Wing looks like a Bug/Dragon?? I've never heard anyone talk about it!
@@luckyinky7849i mean they’ve done something similar before. a lot of people probably don’t understand the “sinistea” pun
If Susanoomon Was In The Pokeverse,He Would Be Fire/Fairy(Fire:Agunimon/KaiserGreymon,Fairy:Lobomon/MagnaGarurumon)BTW,Susanoomon Would Beat Arceus!
"Dachsbun could be a fire/fairy type"- Change my mind.
19:02 short Japanese lesson: while Tonbo (トンボ or 蜻蛉) is typically used to describe a regular Dragonfly or Damselfly, Yanma (ヤンマ or 蜻蜒) is used to describe a large Dragonfly
So yes, Yanma's name is literally just the Japanese word for a large Dragonfly
And no, it has no relation to the Japanese word for Dragon, Ryū (リュウ, 竜 or 龍)
One I've been annoyed at for not getting the bug - dragon combo is Slither Wing. It is very draconic and the wings become spikes on its back. And also, Dreamworks already made a Slitherwing from HTTYD, which IS a dragon.
Now that Mandjtv mentioned that dog Pokemon tend to dig a lot and have strong potential of being Ground/Fairy, I think that would be a great idea for a new dog Pokemon that is a Ground/Fairy type. I know WolfeyVGC wouldn't like it, but I would be interested to see it.
13:38 This also applies to Jirachi I think
The thing is though is that Jirachi has the third-eye on its belly, an overtly Psychic-Type thing
@@ifiwerearichman-yabadibaCompletely forgot about that
Mikey, I loved your energy in this video! Very fun to watch.
Can i just say that you are really underrated and deserve more love
I think H-Sneasel and Sneasler make great Ice/Poison candidates! I actually thought that was their type combo before I found out what they really were.
Tbh when I saw Sneasler I thought it was Ice/Poison, but also mostly because they feel like ice climbers... their claws acting like ice axes
25:00 by mistake grunty boi gets out
I recall hearing Delphox was intended to be a Fire-Fairy initially but due to balancing concerns they swapped it to Psychic type.
It's name is based on an oracle
Do you know what an oracle is
@@Potato15461 Yes, I do. That's where it gets the name Delphox from. The Oracle of Delphi.
@@Potato15461But only in English, as far as languages with a proper localization team go.

One thing to note about Ninetails is that it is obviously a reference to kitsune. Kitsune are typically portrayed as tricksters or outright malevolent (unless they are servants of Inari, the Shinto god of prosperity)
I thought it would be great as a Fire/Dark type with its portrayals in media.
I know Sandslash is based on a pangolin, but I could conceivably see it have been ground fairy because of pink fairy armadillos.
