    12:00 -- He was saying "sorry" to his deceased wife.

    • @hardymonty
      @hardymonty 20 днів тому +20

      You were kinda right... he was asking for permission from Susan because she was still running some shadow factions of the CIA... you learn that in the sequel. Robert was asking her... essentially... if he were to undertake this task... could he count on her resources to clean it up at the end... because technically... he didn't exist.

      @@hardymonty Yeah, that too. But I think the point Susan was making was more about his wife, being that they talked about her when they were sitting on the steps. Susan probably knew his wife, so she'd be the closest person to seek some acknowledgement from.

    The original 'Equalizer' was a popular TV series in the 1980s. Completely different character, but the same basic idea - former superspy who uses his skills to help people in trouble, contacted via a regular newspaper ad. He followed the same pattern each time - politely approach the troublemakers and suggest they back off, sometimes even offer a deal of some kind and, when they refused, he would take their entire organization apart.
    Denzel Washington's version of The Equalizer is amazing. :)

    When McCall takes out the Russian Mobsters at the start...When he says "Sorry"...He was apologising to his Wife...As he said He promised he would not return...To the Person he was before Biss! Also at the end! When he turns up for the Showdown at the Store...The Song playing is by "Gladys Knight and the Pips"...To let everyone know...He is there! Early in the Movie...When some of his Co-Workers...Were trying to guess....What He did before...He said "I was a Pip" Which was one of Gladys backing Dancers and Singers! I only know this...As i have watched this Movie...Quite a few times!:p Love this Avenging Angel...Assassin Character! Denzel is amazing in this role! Keep watching this Series! Well worth it Bisscute!! ✌ ❤

    After the first bloodbath, McCall was able to finally get a good night’s sleep. Based on the 1985-89 TV series. The brief opening montage is one of the scariest at the time. The city streets when the sun sets is terrifying. Innocents stalked by evil, but lurking in the shadows was The Equalizer, an avenging guardian angel played heroically by the late Edward Woodward. He made you feel safe. His life lessons in the series kept me safe and reassured in real life, going home very late at night after work. His wise words ringing in my ears. Walk with confidence, not like a victim. Stay in the light with people around. Take the long way home, avoid shortcuts in dark alleys. Trust your gut and walk away or find another route. Denzel Washington is a great Robert McCall and made you feel safe like Woodward did. In the final bloodbath McCall descends into savagery as he unfortunately, finds his original self which he has been restraining all this time, now unleashed. His call sign in the series “Odds against you! Call The Equalizer”.

    Denzel gives solid Dad energy here. Like Liam Neeson in "Taken," and Denzel's role in "Man on Fire." Very similar to the Grandpa energy in "Gran Torino," but younger. The "permission" Robert was seeking was in relation to the promise he made to his wife. He decided he was going to make an exception for Teddy and Pushkin.
    The main bad guy in this movie, Teddy, was an elf in "The Lord of the Rings."

    Many of us remember the 1980's TV series, "The Equalizer", I believe Robert McCall was a former CIA Operative. If I remember correctly he referred to the CIA as The Company, the historic informal name. In the movies, I believe Robert McCall is supposed to be a former Special Forces and ex CIA Operative, or some other off the books Black Ops. "If you or any members of your team are caught or killed, The Secretary will disavow any knowledge actions"

    Biss, some background on Robert, he was a former elite operative in the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), which is very similar to the CIA, but focuses on a much different target objectives. Before that, he was a Force Recon in the US Marine Corps. The lady friend. Susan, that he seek help from to get some info works for the CIA. Apart from info, he's also seeking reassurance from her that he's not doing something bad, which would dishonor his dead wife. As usual Biss, your jump scares, laughs and giggles are always humorous and entertaining. Love your reaction. Can't wait for u to watch the 2nd film.

    Robert McCall in this version is a former MARSOC (Marine Special Operations) turned ISA (that is like CIA Special Operators) who faked his death to leave that life behind to honor his wife's dying wish. When your body is stressed, it goes into flight or fight mode. high levels of cortisol and adrenaline are released into the blood stream causing you to perceive time as slowing down. This is really your brain processing sensory input faster. With the right training and experience you cannot just react faster but think in a controlled manner. This is what the camera is trying to explain quickly. Honey has antimicrobial healing properties and has been used for thousands of years for healing.

    Don't ever apologize because your understanding of the language is difficult. You grasped very important parts and clued everything together. That is what we all do - as it is impossible to remember all that happens in a film. The good or great films, I tend to watch multiple times - not just because they are worth my time. I also try to figure out nuances that are extremely subtle, but are also important to the overall plot. The next film, in the series delves deeper into Robert. You will have a great time watching it.
