Interestingly, only Wichita isn't a state capital.
Bill Murray was in a live-action Garfield, as the voice of Garfield. The movie was considered a massive flop, hence Bill saying it was his only regret.
You're exactly right that it's a fun comedic take on zombie movies especially to watch with friends, not intended to be an Oscar winner. When it was made in 2009, zombie movies & shows weren't as much of a thing; The Walking Dead premiered in 2010. Needless to say, it was something fresh, fun, and exciting.
Also from 2010, the clever, must-watch horror-comedy Tucker & Dale vs Evil, starring Alan Tudyk (Wash from Firefly). It's clever, fun, and funny; I'd definitely recommend watching.

The German version of the live-action "Garfield" was even worse. Garfield was dubbed by Thomas Gottschalk.
Regarding zombie movie parodies: "Shaun of the Dead" is definitely one of my favourites.
@@tubekulose I definitely second Shaun of the Dead, though it's worth noting that Biss only rated Hot Fuzz with 3 stars out of 5. I'd be interested to see how many of the subtle jokes get caught.

They are named after the city (not the state) they are from.
Well Columbus and Tallahassee are named after where theyre going not where theyre from, the girls we really don't know since there traveling together so it doesn't make sense they'd be going to different places but you know.. movie

6:28 I've watched it ten times and I still can't get enough of it.
6:07 - "OK, Twinkies is a type of a sweet." - Yes, they're oblong, yellow sponge cakes filled with white cream filling. The pink sweets that fell out of the truck are called Sno Balls. It's chocolate cake in the center, with cream filling, covered in pink marshmallow, and topped with coconut flakes.
8:39 - "Ooh, is that like a ...morningstar?" - It's called a "Garden Weasel", and it was sold as a tool for loosening up the soil in your garden. You roll it back and forth and the spiky wheels tear up the dirt.
9:00 - The banjo riff and the "You got a purdy mouth." line, are references to the movie Deliverance (1972). In fact that riff is universally associated with that movie.
21:56 - "The cartoon Garfield?" - Bill Murray did the voice of Garfield in a 2004, live-action movie based on the comic. It wasn't very popular.
24:16 - "Wichita, maybe that's a state?" - It's a city. Actually, there are a couple cities named Wichita, as well as a Native American tribe. They're all named after cities.

They're using the places they're from as their names: Wichita Kansas, Tallahassee Florida, Columbus Ohio, and Little Rock Arkansas.

@@WezMan444 I don't think it's that weird, if we take the actresses' ages and apply them to the characters, there's a nearly eight-year age gap, so, it's not too much of a stretch to believe that their parents moved between giving birth. Even if the age gap between the characters is only a few years, not nearly eight like the actresses, it's still pretty easy to believe that their parents moved between giving birth. Also, maybe they aren't really sisters, maybe they're just trauma-bonded, and claiming to be sisters is an easier story to tell people than the story of how they met.

The film is pretty good and the original cast returns.

When you say zombie movies are over saturated, well don't forget this movie is actually 15 years old now and the whole thing was essentially a parody of the genre. At that point stuff like The Walking Dead was still around a year away. Zombies have been around in movies for decades, but this film pretty much came out just before the over saturation.
Much like Shaun of the dead, the parody itself became one of the most popular films in the zombie genre.

Fun reaction. Wichita is a city in Kansas, my home state. There's a Krispy Kreme in Wichita where they give you glazed donuts as they come down the line, still hot. Like little round pieces of manna, falling from heaven and landing in your mouth. Best of all, you get to eat them in peace... no zombies.

Back in the day the movie was amazing and people absolutely wanted more. A series sadly didn't materialize (think they made a pilot) and for whatever reason it took a hole decade to get a sequel (which isn't horrible but not great either) so the hype was long over.

Ironically the original Garfield cartoon had a lot of the same voice actors from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Then Bill did the voice of Garfield in the CGI movie, which is ironic cuz he was a Ghostbuster in the movie.

This script was originally written as a TV pilot for a series but not network bought it, so it was turned into a movie script. Had it been a series we would've found out more of Columbus' rules as it went along and had a different Zombie Kill of the Week for each new episode. It also explains why Little Rock and Wichita, who had been shown to be very smart throughout the movie would all of sudden turn stupid and not realize that turning on the amusement park would attract every zombie in the area. They didn't have a "movie ending" in the original TV script.
