I have hated on the Roku ultra for to long! but if we are being honest the Roku devices are kind of....mid. They really don't offer the same customizing options that other devices do. In this video I wanted to go over everything Roku has to offer and give me honest opinion on how the device runs. Did I change my mind on the Roku ultra by the end of the video?

I bought the Roku to watch videos not to watch the interface lol. Roku is always on point and doesn't skip a beat compared to a few fire sticks I owned before.
The whole point is that it is limited in what you can load though

Yeah rokus are epic! Get Direct TV stream service with it and cancel cable!
Fire Sticks are horribly slow. I really don't like them at all.

I had Firestick 4K devices on both of my TV's for a couple of years. Despite having fast internet and strong WiFi I suffered a lot of buffering and occasionally had to restart the devices. So, I bought a Roku 4K stick to give it a try. It seems to do everything better than the Firestick. The GUI is more responsive and channels launch faster. I prefer the cleaner user interface...makes it easy to find what I'm looking for. More importantly, no buffering or need to restart.
I have HORRIBLE AT&T service(multitude lost calls if the call actually came through, text- meh have better luck. Only internet access is either mobile hotspot or satellite, use my ipad hotspot on my Roku express and only time I have any buffering is my daughter playing Roblox on her iPad using same hotspot. My Roku issue is the it freezing up mid-operation usually when trying to scroll back for something I missed then it's >5min for Roku to finally force-close itself to restart or lose my patience and manually cut it's power for it to restart.

Being someone of that older generation Roku is perfect for us. We do not play games on our TV. It offers us pretty much everything we need. What I did not hear was what is not available on Roku that is available on other devices, other than better games.

@@UpgradeGuyTech why do you and everyone else the reviews a Roku device say that's a negative against Roku. Seriously why do you care about adding channels that aren't on the device app store, but seriously update your Roku to the latest os.

I have been able to load many other apps on my Roku Ultra by using the search button. Simple and easy .I have the 2nd generation Fire cube and I use both. One thing my Roku has never done was miss a beat as oppose to the Cube when once in a while it blacks out. They are both hardwired into my router. I don't play games as I left that long ago. The only thing I would change on the Roku is to have the ethernet port accept gigabyte speeds.
Does the USB port on the back of the Ultra work for USB Audio by any chance? Was wondering if i could get audio from it and to my DAC when using headphones.
What is better for me the new fire cube 2022 or roku ultra 2022? I will need it for paramount + 4k and youtube 4k. I don't currently have a sound system but its in the future. Unfortunately my samsung smart TV doesn't support 4k on paramount + and there is a known issue with 4k on youtube samsungs app. I have a prime account but rarely use it.
How quick is Roku's response to inputs from the remote? I have an Apple TV and it's lightning fast, I just threw a fire stick in the trash because all it does is aggravate me wait wait extremely slow response. I was considering getting something different than another Apple TV, just to have some different options.
Does the aux output work with wireless headset. How can I navigate between TV sound and headset for privacy. Thanks

I love the benefit of the roku. Phone app is fantastic & offers great options to listen to your tv! Of course you can access all apps, watch on your phone, use your phone as a remote. But my #1 fav is the listening options you have. Great for those living in a condo or with other people! Of course you can use wired earbuds & plug into the remote. But turning on your phones bluetooth & using your wireless buds is awesome. You can listen without bothering anyone late night & still have quality sound as loud as you want! Also nice to be able to listen to your shows @ times you can't be sitting in front of tv- cleaning house or doing your business 💩 lol. Don't want to have buds in your ears- with bluetooth on sound comes from your phone! You get sound upclose instead of across the room. Great when you don't want to wake up people in next room. I have shield in livingroom- roku in bedroom. Wish shield had the listening features of roku.
Is there a way to import settings & passwords from an old Roku to new Roku?
Hi, wondering does this Roku Ultra able to bluetooth sound to my other bluetooth speakers.
I have an older ROKU stick but just recently received the ROKU ulta. My question is before I change out to the new ROKU ulta is there a way to get it with all the apps etc I have added over the last couple of years or do I have to re download everything on the ulta

Hey I know it’s late but Roku automatically saves your apps to the cloud so when you login to a new Roku device with your Roku Account it’ll automatically redownload all of them. You will have to login to the apps again however.

I made my great grama get it because the remote feature that you can plug in earphones because she can’t hear good so it’s awesome for her
I have a Roku Ultra which I really enjoy. For TV, movies and UA-cam its great. My only complaint is the lack of HiRes audio support. They have Tidal app but not Qobuz or Idagio. I'm not convinced that even with Tidal the output is true HiRes. For true Hires music streaming I bought a Bluesound Node. Fantastic device.

I have the roku media player app, it works with almost all my files on usb, 264, 265 formats worked on it except some of the standard quality files and 4k movies couldn't work, might've been cause of the coding for the file, other than that my main use for usb media player and streaming apps.
The Rokus seem to be more efficient at storage management. So far I’ve not run out of storage after installing 44 channels (what Roku calls their apps). I don’t think that would be true for the Fire Stick or the many Android TV devices with 8 GB of storage.

I've been recommending the Roku for my parents to stream from my Plex server, and I may need to buy one after the PS4 plex app kicked the bucket. Seeing you navigate through the UI makes me think the experience on the ultra is actually really smooth. I wanna know though:
1: Is the experience of navigating smooth and snappy like other devices?
2: Does the Plex app on Roku allow you to stream content from custom servers?
2A: Is the Plex app as snappy as the main Roku UI?

I enjoy my Roku's, they are easy to understand and work great, I'm am definitely not a computer genius and I don't play all the new complicated games out today, I'm more of an 8 bit/16 bit and Arcade games kind of gamer, If your old school like me then the Roku Ultra is perfect

If you use DirecTV Stream, have fun using your Shield. Local TV stations? Good luck. Who buys a streamer for gaming? Seriously. My TVs come with GoogleTV. Each one has a Roku Ultra plugged in as well. Want to watch Disney+ right now on your Shield with Dolby Atmos? Good luck. The apps broken on Firestick, GoogleTV and FireTV. Roku works. Im not a fan of RokuTV, but the Ultra is a great addition.
Have you updated your Roku yet to os 11 or 11.5 so much better

Try updating the Roku ultra to the newest os and it's a lot better. As it has a what to watch section and a whole lot more.

Roku does have a find remote tone. Which is great for me. As far as I know the Firestick does not.

Roku channel availible for the firestick, love the Roku channel but not the Roku..
Depends on the country. I believe only in the US and UK. For the majority of countries Roku devices are the easiest way to get it

@@tgerald : Thanks, my only beef is the Ethernet is 10/100 and not Gigabyte. I have a Plex server on my local network that I stream thousands of titles (all my ripped DVD/BluRay) and I need that extra speed.
The interface sucks, but I’m pretty sure I could go from my TV being completely off, to hitting the Netflix button on the remote, and it turning on my TV and going straight to Netflix and taking me where I need to be anyway, so none of that matters at that point. But yeah, because of the interface, I am looking at Amazon and Chromecast but I just really like the Roku remote.
whateever you ened up with will come wih lag and stutters. nothing is as fast as a roku ultra if you dont care about games.
@@hidingmyrealname I think anything but Apple TV will have lag. I'm dissapointed in the lag of the Roku Ultra, and the Google Chromecast. Actually I bought both of them and use neither one! Discovered the Netflix button on my TV remote is actually the fastest and most seamless/convenient for me since it doesn't require any changing of inputs. Even if it's the worst interface of them all, really all I do is press play and pick up where I left off on my show. None of the boxes really did want I wanted. Apple would have been good but it has that premium price.
I completely dislike the fire stick… had two both gave me problems….before and after I’ve had a Roku and will take a Roku over a Firestick any day
Roku has the best interface to be honest. Its not confusing and it works with no lag. You bugging if you dont think its good.
It’s definitely fine. Apple TV is much better in my opinion. I had one a bit ago and unfortunately had to return it because it kept freezing. I’ve always had Roku sticks, which bog down after awhile. The Apple TV was just insanely fast and very intuitive. I’ll probably get one again at some point but to me Roku’s have always just been very solid. It was my original streaming box back in 2013.
Why would you want to play using a Streaming device? I would buy a Play or a Switch. What's wrong with the interface? It is just different design Languaje, simple and to the point. If you don't want to use it just press the voice command in the remote and say open this channel,etc.

I was very amused by your "Unbiased opinion". The whole video was you hating the name ROKU. Now, I have the new Amazon Fire Cube and the Roku Ultra. There is no comparison, in my opinion. The Roku is a far superior device. It is customizable to they order I want to see my apps, and that is the whole purpose of a Streaming player. I don't by a Roku, Apple TV, or Fire Cube to play games. They are Streaming players. SO, lets only talk about what they are, and what they are made for. If you want to play games, buy a playstation or xbox.
The closed operating system and being unable to side load 3rd party apps makes the Roku Ultra inferior to the Nvidia Shield.

I can't stand all of the ads (/"recommendations") and other garbage plastered and flashing all over the Fire TV and similar devices. That is why I prefer Roku (although I mostly use a basic Chromecast, playing apps or files from my phone).
Shield. Also on a budget the onn box. The interface is garbage.
Roku stock peaked at $460 - it's now $60 - totally dependent on the streaming apps you pay for and your internet quality - so tired of my Roku Ultra's - they CONTINUALLY ask me to resign in - Pathetic actually - and no, I'm not scanning a QR code on my personal Cell Phone - that's my business - not yours - Foolku .......

Yes you can. I just selected youtube tv when setting up roku from my pc. Getting ready to cut that cable.

Roku is garbage. Content is only enjoyable when it’s pirated. Don’t even need to watch it, just knowing it’s pirated leaves a warm-fuzzy feeling. I’d rather go back to playing with rocks and sticks on the ground outside than ever pay to watch anything ever again. I’m already paying when I watch for free because I’m subjected to corporate circle-jerk productions that are really all just one big advertising funnel being thinly veiled as entertainment.
