I just got the Roku Ultra LT and over 1 day I had it since I don’t have cable I love it any recommended apps that you want me to download do you want to watch a movie with me?
I have this one myself. It's amazing. The roku LT and the ULTRA have the same Quad-core processor. This information can be found on the roku website where you can compare the two side by side.
Thank you, so much for this side by side review. While, I own both the 2019 Ultra and the Roku Ultra LT (sold only at Walmart) almost always recommend that most people save the $20 dollar difference and go for the Ultra LT. My only exceptions are if, you are planning to use the USB port to watch recorded media or you have a small child (or spouse) that may misplace the remote control. They are both outstanding and, I highly recommend either Roku Ultra model.
I sometimes use the USB for local media on my old Roku2, so that would be missed... I like the idea of the "find my remote" button, and the programmable buttons on the remote. You helped me make my decision.
I got my Roku ultra from best buy 2 months ago. They sent me the 2018 version. I have a 1080p Tv and my max DSL stream with ATT is 3.5mbs. This unit works fantastic so I cut Direct tv.
I love my Roku Ultra(2018) version. Yeah, it's slower cause of my internet issues and a year old, but does the same thing the new roku ultra/LT versions does. And my mom had the Roku Premiere+ She loves it.
I decided on the LT, I’ve been using a firestick 4K for the past two years and I wanted to try a new player. I’ve had zero issues!! I think I prefer the user interface on the Roku over the firestick. The ui on the firestick can be a tad bit much lol I like the simplicity of the Roku! I felt like the minor speed bump wasn’t enough to justify getting the ultra
I can’t wait for your express+ review. I really wanna save money and just get my mom a new remote from walmart when they come in stock but if the express+ is a point anywhere remote and replaces the stick officially I’d love to get that for her and just get it for her with a vudu credit we can use before that offer expires. Thanks as always for the great reviews. This looks like a solid roku
Download the Roku app. It has a remote feature that works great! You can even listen through your phone instead of the TV or ear buds. All Roku are compatible with the Roku app. Good luck!
Excellent review. While, I picked up the 2019 Roku Ultra for myself have been suggesting for several months that my co-workers on a tight budget should should pass on the Ultra model and buy the Ultra LT at Walmart.
Just got a Roku Ultra LT on sale for $57 at my local wal mart. At that price I'm thrilled. When I pick it up tomorrow I might grab a wifi booster also.
Made my mind up pretty fast. I'm going for the Full Ultra. For 3 reasons. 1. Button to find the remote, I'm always mis placing it. 2. Usb connection, I can see movies I've downloaded, that alot of T.V.'s have but won't play my External hard drive. 3. Last but not least, I found it for $69.00 plus free shipping ✔
Cable will soon be in, Blockbuster Video & payphone heaven!!! I happily cut the cord about 2 weeks ago. Have 400mbps internet. When plugged in with ethernet directly into router, the 2019 ROKU ULTRA LT (from Walmart) is just as fast as my MacBook pro, when MacBook is on wifi. When the MacBook is plugged into the router, it's faster. I'm happy with the Roku Ultra Lt. I'd never need the USB since my TV has that same feature. Wasn't worth the extra $20 for me personally. As far as the remote finder. That's a cool feature, but I downloaded the Roku app and have my phone as the remote. You can even use the private listening option through your phone. So you can use Bluetooth earbuds. You have to carry the remote around otherwise.
Here's 1 point you might want to add - These have a much better processor compared to a smart TV OS. I did a comparison between a LG 4K Smart TV and a Roku streaming stick and the picture quality on the Roku beats the LG WEB OS channels 100 to1 - at faster resolution at 1080p where the WEB OS on the LG takes up to 20 to 30 seconds to get the resolution up to 720 to 1080p...
I'm pretty much only minutes from cutting the cord. And after a lot of comparisons, I've talked myself into the Ultra(not LT). Something I can't find in my searches is the answer to a question "Should I pair this with a Roku enabled TV?" What do you think?
Right now a few retailers are selling the ultra for only $69.99 such as Best Buy, Staples, Kohls and more. Offer is limited to 7/25 so if you want a Roku with Ethernet this is a great deal and only $10 less than the Ultra LT (Walmart Exclusive).
The walmart employee wasn't biased towards helping me choose between the two but he did try to sell me the LT first and the LT was on rollover. So from this video, what the employee pitched me, and the sale at walmart I went with the LT.
I have a 2018 Roku Ultra but I may buy an LT. I also have a Firestick, Tivo and Chromecast with Google TV. I prefer the Chromecast but love Roku as well,
I would think that the 2020 Ultra LT model would have more features and be more advanced than the 2020 Ultra. Nope, a year later and has less features, no USB ports, no 2 programmable buttons and no find my remote buttons. If I knew this back in 2019 I would of bought an extra 2019 Ultra back on black Friday in 2019 when Walmart had them for $49 and they had plenty of them even the day after Black Friday.
My understanding the CPU’s in the 2019 Roku Ultra & Ultra LT have the same SOC (CPU/Processor) the LT has 1GB of RAM while the Ultra is equipped with 2GB of RAM.
The writing has been on the wall for a few years already but with Roku/Netflix ending support for various older Players like my Roku 2 XD (3050X)... Now is the time to look again at an upgrade. Got various alternative options today (Smart TV, FireTV Sticks, a newer Roku Stick) so the Roku 2, which already is often just my Vacation/Travel Player (since it supports both HDMI and Composite Output), can go days/weeks Unattended or just Unplugged... So not the end of the world but good to see what options are available. Thanks.
@@michaelhorgan9525 Thanks for the heads up. Glad I waited before upgrading... Haven't been checking my E-Mail... Roku sent me that offer 2 days ago. Really is an easy No Brainer. HDMI and Composite support for $15 (plus 5.99 shipping + tax)? While I've not needed/used my XD's Composite Outputs often (Mostly for Rare Recording Content to a VHS/DVD Recorder... Or more often as a Passthrough via those A/V Inputs. Maybe sound to an external speaker.) Still glad they kept that in mind for the Replacement/Upgrade Offer. Having the Flexibility was why I picked the XD.
Awesome review. My sister just recieved a Roku Ultra LT. As for the remote, she wouldn't care the "find my remote" Looks like I'm going to set it up beings husband won't. Lol I have a Nvidia Shield so it shouldn't too hard to set up. I see this can be set with Ethernet or Wireless, that's good. Thanks for the information. 👍
Cord Cuttens, it's OK? I am thinking of buying the Roku ultra 4k streaming, I know it has USB input, I need to know if the media player of roku plays video files in ISO, VOB, MKV, BDMV quality, which I have on my external HD dw 1tera. a hug
Yeah, really depends on your needs. I have been using Logitech Harmony universal remotes for nearly 10 years now, so I don't even use the Roku remotes.
Two weeks ago I went and got a Roku premiere and it came with the HDMI cable. I returned it and upgraded to the Roku ultra LT. That one did NOT come with an HDMI cord. I have a 4k TV and wanted to make sure that I was getting the full capability so I got a "high end" HDMI cable. Paid about $15. They go up in price the longer the cable. I only needed a few feet. I got the Ultra because I wanted the option to plug into the router directly.
Any of the current WIFI rf roku remotes can be paired to roku tv, but not IR only roku remote, which only works on console rokus. Roku TV's use different IR code set. Of course non-roku tv wifi remotes will be missing the MUTE key. Roku just released the rc-al7r wifi remote, sold separately at walmart, best buy, and amazon, it can be paired from express to roku TV's, and includes a MUTE key. price $20.
My Samsung Smart TV Interface is not so good so I purchased the Roku Ultra on Ebay New for $21 to fix the stuttering and Buffering issues. Samsung disconnects from the WIFI. We have high speed internet.
Roku Ultra LT VS Roku Ultra (2018)? Setting aside remote and hardware difference. watched your 2019 ultra vs 2018 review-great info How does the interface and app load speeds compare on the 2018 vs the LT? I found a 2018 ultra for under $70 looking to save money on a second roku thank you
Thanks for the video. You kept saying all the Ultra has the short cut buttons but failed to repeat that the Ultra 2019 also has a USB port. I find both worth the extra 20$. However, ? I do not yet have a roku but I do not see the USB port on the ultras as I browse the net.
Plus you can only get it at Walmart. Not many differences, but my 2017 and 2016 Ultras are similar to the LT, but of course the 2016 has SPDIF but both have USB ports. I believe the LT has no USB port.
I think the programmable buttons are unnecessary and serve to clutter up an ergonomic remote. That alone makes me want to avoid the Ultra but all the other features make me want to purchase the Ultra. Can I trade the remote for the one without the programmable buttons? 😝
You can use an old IR remote without the buttons or use the older style ultra remote (if you can find one). The 2017 remote works on the 2016 and newer models that have a speaker for the remote finder.
Hardware is codenamed Bryan, so probably uses the same CPU as the 2018 ultra which is similar to the one used in 2017 and 2016 even. Streaming Stick+ mentions an identical CPU as the Streaming Stick+.
Mary Kent The Roku player will work as long as you have an Internet connection and then you can connect it to the Internet via Wi-Fi (Wireless) or via a wired (Ethernet) connection. I love my Roku Stick. It does what I need. I don't think I would use the Roku Ulta unless it was a gift.
i saw u say ROKU Ultra LT has a memory card/SD slot on it.but i jus got my LT an i saw no SD slot under the HDMI port.
so where is it
I have the ROKU Express and love it... For $30 @ Walmart...

you should compare against 2018 ultra.
When you compare the speed of the two units, are you pressing both remote buttons at the same time? It's sometimes hard to tell from the video.
Yes we click the button at the same time.
Does this support Spectrum TV like the regular Ultra?
Any difference in wireless technology between the two?
Can you performance test the Fire Cube Gen. 2 agianst the 2019 Roku Ultra? PLEEEEEEASE! Thank you!!!
