This was an awesome interview. I've always wanted to meet KK, as my love for Slayer is neverending. But I've also thought he has come across as an arrogant fuck in the past. This interview felt different. He mentioned having fun now... and I wonder if that's part of it.
I've been trying to tell people for years that he's wholly not like that and I think it just takes getting to know him to elicit that side of his personality. Most interviews ask the same questions in the same way and get the same style response, But, Kerry is a smart man, with a lot to say, when he feels like it.
Great interview! One thing I was wondering is if his new band bump into Exodus whilst on tour, would he invite Gary Holt on stage to play a couple of songs? Likewise if they pass by where Tom Araya lives is their relationship ok enough for him to come on stage with them? Also, how much does he have to pay for security to keep Phill Demmel and Robb Flynn apart at these big festivals? 🤣🤘
Thanks Johnnie! These beefs are blown way out of proportion lol Phil & Robb aren't at each other's throats in any way, They're grown ass men with grown ass children. From what I gathered, no one is guesting anytime soon, cause they're not in a position to make changes to the set list at this point, but maybe on the headline tour next year, they'll be more comfortable? I'd be surprised if Tom showed up, much less wanted to sing. It would require one of them to call the other and express the interest and they haven't spoken in years.
I love Slayer. Been following them since 84. Hats of to Kerry for going and doing his own thing but to me, guess I am biased and maybe old, the original line up is the Hell slinging Slayer. No Jeff or Dave.otd no Slayer to me. I love paul and Gary but the old days are bomb
@@reggiebrousseau5283 yeah, but on a scale of Led Zeppelin to KISS, I think they do a damn good job with it. I don’t pretend to not be biased either, I grew up in Bay Area Thrash.
Kerry always said Phil wasn't the right guy, but he's also smart enough to flesh out all the options, plus the pandemic gave him all the time to consider and he ended up with the same conclusion he told me in 2016.
Loving your show and what a killer interview

Judas Priest must be the innoventors of Thrash Metal.
@@mvd3517 They are! The NWOBHM was ground zero for Bay Area Thrash
Judas priest were a huge influence on thrash metal for sure. But, they didn't/ don't play thrash metal per se

Does bro ever take his sunnies off?
He does, but I edited it out, out of respect for his preference. He has them off all the time IRL but prefers them on in photo/video.
Just like Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult. It's kinda their trademark. 😎

kerry king still sucks
No this interview sucks
sucks what
That’s usually what guitarists that can’t make a name for themselves make, and I damn sure don’t recognize yours from anywhere
When Kerry says "Oh God!" I am more perplexed that deep down he believes in God.
@@marciosouzacedro6041 Naw, it’s a reflex. Just like when he says “Oh shit” it doesn’t mean he’s referring to an actual shit.
Nope that is a cultural habit.
Glen Benton literally says "Jesus" it garza podcast lol
Great interview!
