This book seems amazing.. the amount of research done for this is fascinating.. planning to read it soon. Seems like 1/4 of book is full of notes. I don't know any other book if such kind.
Having listened to Pillai's interview at the Bangalore Lit. festival, I am left questioning his definition of 'religion'. Hinduism to me has been more of a philosophy with plenty of rituals - the rituals being existent in all other major rituals too as evidence of devotion. Are there varying 'degrees' of adherence to principles and values in different modes of thought that define 'religion'? Pillai's elaboration of this would be most appreciated.
Same things that those missionaries did or said to our God which the writer claim they were being ignorant or they were just like that (he is putting them in context) one can see same is being said now it is all over UA-cam's in fact Christians don't afraid to say it in front of Hindus like Vivek ramaswamy who is try hard to defend his faith..... Kali and Ganesha and narasimgha is still termed as what 100 years ago missionaries said or did..... So stop saying you are putting things in context....
Guns, Germs and Steel by Jamie Diamond....similar way it looked at the civilization ...looks like this author took that idea and adapted to this one
When I saw the book title this is what came to my mind.
Thank you Sarmaya for this amazing talk. Waiting to hear more. ❤
As always, such insightful talk, Manu has always been unique with his ideas and historical acumen!?
