This film was created to be part of 'An Alternative Contemporary: A celebration of contempo...

The audio is terrible. Request to the foundation to provide better audio or use an audio enhancer before uploading. And, if by chance Manu sees this, request to repeat the question before answering. It is always helpful in any Q&A session, since one part of the room or auditorium won't hear a person from another corner.

We are worse at documentation. They just don't care I have seen this at numerous places like in many literary festival ( frustrated by jlf) and talk like this.... I have seen Westerner best at this they just don't allow question without mic, they put presentation on screen if it is not possible to frame it with presentor.... It seems Westerners have proper department at all platform for proper documentation...... If you want to upload on internet UA-cam do it properly or just don't do it but we are Indian we do kaam chalao kaam all the time.

Having listened to Pillai's interview at the Bangalore Lit. festival, I am left questioning his definition of 'religion'. Hinduism to me has been more of a philosophy with plenty of rituals - the rituals being existent in all other major rituals too as evidence of devotion. Are there varying 'degrees' of adherence to principles and values in different modes of thought that define 'religion'? Pillai's elaboration of this would be most appreciated.

There's some facts to Dr Manu but lacks scholarship. Is he talking about Christianity as a whole or Christianity after Parankis? He should know about the entire philosophy of Christianity rather than cherry picking. While i don't believe in any form of present day religion please let me know which are the religions teaching about 1) Equality 2) Freedom 3) Justice other than Christianity? I believe that There are lots Hindu way of leading a good life but it lacks merrits when it comes to people's life for example Varna! Christianity in India is not limited to Portuguese or Britain or east India company but much before it Christianity was widely accepted in Kerala long long before 2000 years back. Don't forget it. Please review "80 days around the world" to understand bit of it@

Same things that those missionaries did or said to our God which the writer claim they were being ignorant or they were just like that (he is putting them in context) one can see same is being said now it is all over UA-cam's in fact Christians don't afraid to say it in front of Hindus like Vivek ramaswamy who is try hard to defend his faith..... Kali and Ganesha and narasimgha is still termed as what 100 years ago missionaries said or did..... So stop saying you are putting things in context....

What is Hinduism? +++++++++++++++ I have long pondered on what constitutes this so called religion that sweepingly generalises the 'Indian' people and sitting on their head (as cultural hegemony) and have come up with some conclusions .... A group of priest from the Zoroastrian religion (known as Aryans same as Iran) came to northern 'India' with their Avestan language and fire rituals and later created some slogans to form the Oral Vedas (old Sanskrit) which was never in written form (modern Sanskrit in Brahmi script) until after the 5th century AD. These priest learnt the principles of the Samana tradition( the mother of Jainism and Buddhism) that originated in the Indus Valley Civilization (admixture of Sumerian agriculturist and hunter gatherers) and thrived all over the sub continent with Tamizh especially in Southern 3 Kingdoms ( tiri- three Vi-Kings Idam-place Dravidam) and started incorporating(stealing)it into their already existent vaiteegam (senseless fire ritual) and produced the Upanishad (later the 3 levels of the Bhagavad-Gita and War Epics were hijacked) and became vegetarians. For a solid philosophical footing which they needed in a highly philosophized Tamizh (Samana Palli language just as Prakrit is Jain and Pali is Buddhist) infused land (Sanatan Dharma meaning just People's Religiosity) about the 8th century scribes like Adi Sankara came up with Advaita logic that distorted the original Buddhist(Sunya-Void) thoughts and produced a dichotomical nonsense which did not last the test of time. Later they took up the Tantric Samana Tamizh tradition (where Yoga and the Martial Arts came from) about the 10th century and put forth the bakti methodology (blind surrender). This was inspired by the Christian tradition also. Bakti was based on subtle erotism and appealed to the masses(like cinemas). The high Samana Tantra philosophical (Aaseevagam) basis was ruined for the newly conjectured Saiva and Vainava cult of the wretched puranic tales (porn stories). This is the history of the Priestly class(Brahmins) that still retain their priesthood in the agamic temples (lifeless stone worship) that held sway through the bakti movement from the 12th century onwards. The consecutive non-Tamizh rulers (Brahmin admixtured race such as Vaduga Telugus) firmly rooted the new found 'Hindu' religion with its caste (karmic birth) institution (twisted from the Samana four occupational make-up of society aka Farmers, Merchants, Rulers, Philosophers) with the insidious brahmin malicious agenda of Non-Dharmic segregation (untouchability) which the colonial British gave the general name by which sealing the new found religion hence the Brahmanic hegemony as Hindooism....

Hinduism is older than Zoroastrianism, widely accepted with proof by scientists and historians. The genes of North Indians and South Indians is same. Only a few North Indians have, may be a miniscule 2 to 5% of Iranian genes remaining 95% is same as South Indians. As the borders are free and porous, their might be cross country migration, But Aryans are Indians and The origin of Hinduism and Sanskrit is India with scientific proof. Santana Dharma is not Brahmanical hegemony, its primary goal is Moksha not anything else. Sanatana dharma as you called it as Hinduism asks people to leave hegemony. Following ones own indigenous religion is not hegemony. Loving your Mother as your mother is not hegemony its your duty same as loving your culture and philosophy and your own indigenous religion

There we go again our own Indians using the term mythology wtf guy's is our religion or our history made up? No its the truth so by using the term mythology we are basically saying that our whole religion and history are Made up and its all fake so we Indians need to stop using that term for our story and when stop using the term mythology for our religion and history then the rest of the world will follow!
