If there’s any chance you can help, I started using the old video that was posted about two weeks ago and now this new video comes out which is nice but I still can’t seem the nail the timing down with with Eon timer
@@polishassassin9727 sorry I didn’t see this, but good job. 1 frame late is really good. I usually check 5 above and 5 below I don’t go the full 10 but I did go the full 10 both up and down from 1000 when I first started
I watched this video about 10 times today while I was attempting this and my childhood dream of having a shiny Treecko has come true! Thank you so much!
Another tip I'd like to add. Before checking your potential secret ids for a shiny starter, identify the shiny frames for the whole range of secret id frames (990-1015 in the tutorial) and see how many of them have a shiny frame that is within the 10,000 mark. If there are at least 5 secret id frames that are far outside this range, it would be better to reset your trainer id until you have a set that has shiny frames within this number. I had to reset my trainer id more than 3 times because there were multiple potential secret ids that had shiny frames at the 30k-40k mark, and on the id where I DID find my starter, only 5 secret id frames were far beyond the 10k mark, and yet my actual shiny was among one of those secret id frames (shiny frame was 16829 to be exact). Doing this would save a lot of time in the long run.
Something I learned that I don't believe was well established in this video was that whatever your shiny frame is for your starter, will be the same shiny frame for each other encounter you want to hunt. For example, say your shiny starter is on frame 8133, if you want to get a shiny rayquaza down the line, it will also be shiny frame 8133, or a difference of 1 or 2 frames. The same is true for Sweet Scent encounters. But thank you, blisy, for the tutorial! I've been having a blast shiny hunting while playing through Emerald after finding my SID!
I honestly didn't think I'd pull it off. Emerald seemed hard to pin down with how you're sort of guessing what your SID is but I did it. Huge thanks, Blisy. You've helped me in Colo, XD, Sapphire, and now Emerald. You're a legend.

Trying for that Shiny Treecko for a while. Haven't got it yet, but I actually got the wild Zigzagoon shiny that attacks Birch. That was the last thing I expected
That’s actually a good thing, it means you have a shiny frame in that seed you just have to hit the timing correctly that the shiny frame hits your treecko and not the zizagoon

This finally worked I recommend changing your Ron timer settings to Audio and visual it helps a lot I got frame 999 using those and got the shiny frame first try also. Thank you and good luck!
All the comments had me down, but after finally going 5 up and 2 down from 1000 (998) I hit the correct ID and got my beautiful shiny fish frog!! I’m a real believer now, took about 4 hours and that combined with some really negative comments on the methodology I was close to giving up. No sir, I feel I’m in the group now!
This might be a dumb question, apologies. You say to set the text speed to fast on an already-existing save file. From there, do you leave that save there and hit "New Game" when restarting the game?
I followed this method for shiny Treecko! Thanks so much for these tutorials, I'm excited to get into more RNG manip stuff. I had something weird happen on my attempt at this method. Most of my results were expected (Treecko whose nature/IV matched frames that were close to my target frame) but then I got a few results that didn't match anywhere close to my target frame... the closest match would be well over 50 advances away. I was very careful to make sure I was entering all the information correctly each time so it was pretty strange. After the third mystery Treecko I decided to just start over from the beginning with a new Trainer ID since it would only take a few more minutes. Thankfully my next profile went great, got it on my second SID test. I mention that weird mishap in case anyone knows what might have happened or had something similar happen. When all else fails, turn it off and turn it back on again I guess, lol.
I'm having some issue with the timing, even though I time it perfectly I sometimes end up hitting close to the potential shiny frame (~5 frames before and after) and hit 15+ frames before the potential shiny frame at the next attempt, this becomes a huge issue because I don't know if the same happened at the creation of the ID, so I might be checking from 990 to 1010 but I could have hit frames even before 990.
I bought a Japanese copy of Emerald so I could get a shiny Japanese Blaziken and Rayquaza to move up to Series 8 for my competitive teams and this helped me so much! Stumbled across it after spending a day or so hard resetting, now I know that was a big waste of time :D thanks so much for your guide it's helped me alot !
Hi! Why do you say it was a waste of time? We're you able to complete this RNG on the Japanese copy, or are you saying that hard resetting was a waste of time? Sorry! I have a japanese copy but am having trouble finding the seed, so I am worried the frames function differently on the Japanese copy, or something like that....
@@hayJay1 sorry I meant hard resetting was a waste of time, this method worked perfectly for me on my Japanese copy of the game! My shiny Blaziken and Rayquaza moved up through every game before they closed Pokémon Bank collecting all the ribbons, they’re my prized Pokémon 🥰
I just want to say to any of the guys whose trainer code started with “0” I feel your pain. Also to any of the guys who had to wait 6-7 minutes in between each attempt because those were the closest shiny frames, I FEEL YOUR PAIN. My first 5 SID’s all began in the 15,000-30,000 range. My solid advice is to skip the longer ones and do the SID’s that have lower frames to mark off the list. Also I had another L moment, when I couldn’t even tell it was a shiny on my screen because I have the AGS 001 that can’t differentiate colors, hahaha. Just oreded the mod LCD screen and new housing. All excited, just soldered a new save battery in my OG game and am ready to re live childhood for a little bit anyway, but this time shiny!!!!!Thanks again for the video!!!
If you're playing on an emulator on the same PC with access to tools like Finder and Timer, it seems logical that someone could program the timer to automate an "A" input perfectly each time. This would eliminate human error and ensure consistent performance. It’s a straightforward task for a programmer, leveraging automation scripts or simple macro software to achieve precise timing. The fact it hasn't been widely adopted after all these years is weird to me. Like we have software that could be calibrated to anyone’s game and somehow “magically” know exactly what stats/nature/shiny modifier each frame is until eternity. But there is yet to be an “auto A” program 🤯
I know this is an old video but I am looking for some advise. I have done this for seeds 990-1010, hit the correct frames, but have not yet found the shiny/correct SID for my save. I am thinking of doing a couple more on the later end (1010-1020 maybe) in hopes that I was just a little bit slow. I am playing a Japanese cartridge of Pokemon emerald. I am worried that this might have affected the process somehow... Should I continue trying further seeds, or just reset the whole process, make a new save and start from square 1 again? *** EDIT somehow I have just realized I was doing the entire things wrong. I had selected "16Bit Low" instead of "16 Bit High" to generate the seeds to check. I cannot believe I have done this and didnt realize,so after I calm down i will try again with it all correct this time.......
Something I noticed, the frame delay for the TID / SID appears to be 75, not 50 as blissy showed (maybe Im wrong), so you should try and strike for frame 1025 and around that, instead of frame 1000 and around. I also got discouraged after checking all frames between 990-1015, then I looked it up on the internet, found guides, and in a couple sites it was said the frame delay for the TID / SID is 75, not 15. One person even showed proof through saves and cheating devices, that his frame was 1022 (so around 1025, it checks out). Hope I could help you. Good luck!
What's the average time for finding your secret ID from start to finish? I've been hitting frames very inconsistently (get gud I guess) and I'm getting discouraged, feels like im going to take weeks, any tips?
Got it after a bit of trial and error. Took me about a dozen attempts to hit the frame because i'm terrible at that kind of stuff but I got my square shiny female mudkip.
Hi imablisy, ive been trying this for some time now and cant seem to get it right... How long should this realistically take to go through the potential SID list? Hoping to see how far off I am from others...
this is very tough, very very very tough. i have been doing this for two days now and only now have i 'gotten the hang of it', by which i mean i was amazed at my ability to get even two frame perfect inputs about 30 mins away from each other. of course it didnt amount to anything yet but we'll see..
@@darwinwatterson4568 I managed to work my way through all frames 990-1015 with no luck, ive reset the game to start fresh as i think my timing is better now but am still on the hunt for a shiny starter... Howd you end up going?
With some trial and error and timing myself and doing the math on how many frames it took to get through the into, I got a shiny Torchic using your method on Pokemon: Inclement Emerald!
Thanks a lot for the update man.. Also, is this method only possible with a dead battery? Cuz after comparing both of yours and Choppy's tutorial, I've noticed that both of you guys were having a dead battery. Thanks in advance.
I believe in another rng emerald video, he said that whether the battery is dead or not in your copy of Emerald does not affect rng like it does in Ruby/Sapphire. Hope this helps! :)
After searching through two TIDs ( full ten up and down) I didn't give up and tried a third TID. Apparently I was frame perfect using the new TID hitting 950 straight on the head and my SID was on 1000 ! What helped me hit the frame perfectly was pre setting my econ timer to 5000 when choosing a name, which was a little tip I picked up watching choppy's video that you recommended. My new TID is 27986, SID 22232, and my new shiny torchic is bashful with 20,11,9,13,11,10 for stats. Thank you so much for the tutorial and can't wait to get a shiny Rayquaza ! (this was a lot harder than Ruby)
i know this is old now, but is there some kind of program you can like to both eon timer and your emulator to hit the frames perfectly? id honestly be surprised if there wasnt. or maybe a timer feature in an emulator?
So yesterday I added Choppy’s vid on this to my ToDo list for today, then saw this in my recommended and thought “oh why didn’t I see blisy had a video on this too?” and then looked at the date and saw this just came out 30min ago LOL
I put it off for a long time because I didn’t want to steal choppys method he discovered, but it’s been a long time and his tools are outdated so I think it’s okay now
Does this exact method also work with the German version of the game? I've been trying to get a shiny starter for 10 hours, but I just can't do it, is there anything to consider here?
Thank you for sharing this! I love random shiny finds, but emerald always scares me to play because of the broken rng. I got a treecko in 1728 resets in sapphire. I am still going for Mudkip in Ruby (66k total). And feared hunting torchic because of Mudkip. But I got Torchic tonight in about 2 hours of trying rng manipulation in emerald!
Any advice if you're using the gba intro? I'm using the gba player on the gamecube and the gba demo plays before emerald does. I tried to hand start the timer, but I feel its causing to much inconsistancy.
@@hayJay1 I think the reason i was screwing up was because I was turning off my gba instead of soft resetting (i don't really remember but I think that's why)
PLZ HELP! Normally I hit within 5 frames of my target every time, but sometimes I get a frame that is maybe 60 frames off, and I have no explanation for it. Have anyone had similar issues with any timer, and is there a way to fix it? Could it be my computer lagging in a way that ruins the timers countdown?
I'm having a lot of trouble with this. I keep getting options on the secret id where I'd have to be waiting 3 - 5 minutes per attempt. I do get options of waiting less than that, but they are never the correct secret id. I do know for a fact I am hitting the right frames when I scratch the ones with the shorter wait times off the list. I'm following the video step by step. The battery in my emerald is dry, and I play on a gba sp. Am I doing something wrong? Am I just extremely unlucky? I've done this multiple times with different trainer id's and keep getting half of the secret id's where the wait would end up being 10k to 20k frames at the earliest for the shiny pokemon. I would really appreciate some insight into the matter or if there is a special trick to help my problem.
if you’re able to confirm check off pokemon then you’re definitely doing it right, remember you’re working with pretty small sample sizes here - picking one SID out of so many possibilities could have netted you a bad set of shiny frames vs another. if half your shiny frames are bad so you only try the other half the odds of it “hiding” in the bad half of 4 SIDs is not that crazy low. i’d keep at it, still way easier, faster and more skill based than resetting for one normally
@@falseheadgossip1700 I figured it out awhile ago already. It was just probably bad timing or bad trainer id's. Was able to get the sid figured out and got me a shiny mew and deoxys with it.
@@reefermon7048 I only rnged in emerald for static mons, like mew, deoxys, and rayquaza. I used the same method for the sid which I believe is method 1? But I'd of course start at 0 for the calibration then just went from there with capturing the pokemon and finding out which frame I hit through poke finder, then calibrating eon timer each time it wasn't shiny inserting the frame I did hit and eventually you should hit the right frame.
hi! this video was really well done and easily explained what i have to do, thank you for that! i know this video is a little old... but my question is when using the eon timer, am i clicking A exactly at the 6th beep or after the beep is done? i keep getting the treecko right above and right below my target frame and its driving me nuts!!
my reccomendation to you would to be make sure you aren't constantly changing your frame hit in eon timer. 1-2 frames is well within human error, only if you're consistently hitting the same frame over and over again should you change your frame hit.
I did mine today on a ROM. I've been trying for a few days, but finally found my shiny starter. It was not on the target frame. I had to search all the SID's until I found the one that generated a shiny on the frame I hit. It put my SID actual hit frame on 1029. HOLY CRAP! this was pure luck! I don't know yet if it's the ROM, or eon timer settings caused the delay but dang...
i followed your tutorial and hit my TID 60989, after the first reset on the choosen SID (Frame 1000) on the 12888 Advance I got a shiny, BUT it wasn't the right nature, so I checked the IVs, they didn't match either, now I started to test out the other SIDs from 990 to 1010, no match. Then I went further and thought "maybe i was really late", so I checke 1011 to 1013, 1013 turned out to be the correct one, with the shiny I got on Advance 12887, so because my dumbas missed my target frame by 1, I got myself out of a lot of wasted time. That was the luckiest I think i've gotten so far in pokemon. Thanks for the Video!
Thanks a lot, i got a very decent shiny Timid treecko! I was 4 frames earlier on my secret ID but i got it in the end :) I wish i knew this on my childhood haha
@@iStillLoveHer247 yeah I recalibrated each time I switch to a new SID and a new shiny frame. Calibration seemed to be slightly different depending on how long I was waiting for the shiny frame check.
LOL! On an SID I was attempting, the first frame option is 515. That is 8.622 seconds! I tried so hard, but it is impossible to hit that frame! Shame too...could have been a Timid shiny Treecko.
I have a question: if you get the same nature/IV/gender as your shiny frame when it isn’t shiny, does that automatically mean the SID is incorrect? (For context I got a shiny bold nature frame, got a non shiny bold nature and there weren’t any other bold natures for around 50 frames)
Yeah that means your SID is incorrect. This is basically the whole process: keep testing different SIDs until you get the one that actually makes your starter shiny.
Ive been trying this on my GBA for a while now with no luck... for whatever reason the first soft reset always puts me behind by 20 frames but then I eventually hit the frame but its not shiny. Any suggestions? I feel like this "lag" would mess up my list of potential SIDs. Very new to this so any help would be appreciated
EDIT 2: I have deleted my earlier comments and decided to leave this new comment instead. I do think that a 20 frames delay can be significant enough to mess up your SID. For example, if the target frame is 1500 and the hit frame is 1480. This means that (by proportion) earlier when the target frame is at 1000, your hit frame is only at 986. Since you are only checking SID's from 1010 to 990, this means that you will not check the SID at 986 where you actually hit. And so, you wouldn't get a shiny. I think you can account for the delay by finding out the new target frame to set to using the formula below: New target frame = (Target frame/ Hit frame) * 950 Using the above-mentioned example we get: New target frame = (1500/1480) * 950 Which is equal to approximately 962. But of course, that's just an example, you'll have to plug in your own value into the formula. The formula only applies to the target frame that you use to get your SID, afterwards I do believe the formula is no longer needed. If you still didn't get a shiny after checking SID's from frame 990 to 1010. You can try going the extra mile and check for frame 980 to 1020 but you'll need to adjust the settings for that. At the end of the day, I'm just an amateur at this and this is just an interesting math problem to me, and so this method is not guaranteed to work and might just be a huge waste of time. All the best :)
EDIT 3: Sorry to bother you once again but I think there might be a much simpler method but I'm not sure if it works. You mentioned that you are 20 frames off during the first reset. And eventually after updating the hit frame a few times, you eventually got the target frame and get the right starter pokemon. It might be possible for you to keep that calibration value and then reset your pokemon emerald. Now you can set your target frame once again to 950 while keeping that calibration value you obtained earlier to generate a more accurate list of SID's. The calibration value might be able to account for the delay you experience. This might just work but I'm not sure.
Tried for 2 days with no avail, I had trouble understanding it all, but today I was able to get the perfect 1000 frame for my secret id and got my shiny Treecko in only 2 try

After 237 soft resets, and 15 SID checks, I FINALLY found my shiny Treecko!
TID: 21412 - SID: 36700 (Frame 1000!)
Treecko Frame: 1343
Thank you so much for making this video!
On emerald with a dead battery? cuz i just recieved my emerald with a new battery....
@@MrFabioxz no. New battery in mine. I removed the dead one before starting my new save.
Finally got my shiny after a few hours! Thank you so much for the guides!
Got it on my first try using this guide, you and your channel are gems
Thank you for the update! I've been following your videos for a while, but didn't want to use eontimer. this is perfect timing since I'm just restarting my emerald save file, and did the same thing on my sapphire game! You're a legend, blisy
This finally worked I recommend changing your Ron timer settings to Audio and visual it helps a lot I got frame 999 using those and got the shiny frame first try also. Thank you and good luck!
Wym by this? I play on my phone been trying forever without a PC thou sadly trying off luck 😂😂
How do you get that gen 3 background on eontimer? 👀
Oooo crazy guy. I respect it.
This might be a dumb question, apologies. You say to set the text speed to fast on an already-existing save file. From there, do you leave that save there and hit "New Game" when restarting the game?
You don't have to do it from a pre-existing save, there's still an options menu under "new game" when starting fresh.
When all else fails, turn it off and turn it back on again I guess, lol.
dude i tried it and got results over 1000 frames off, ill do the same and reset
its 2000 off now, what the hell, my emulator isnt in fast forward or anything. ill use another emulator
oops, figured it out. i thought if i knew my sid i could set the game to fire red and get a charmander but i guess not, on emerald it is 20 off
I'm having some issue with the timing, even though I time it perfectly I sometimes end up hitting close to the potential shiny frame (~5 frames before and after) and hit 15+ frames before the potential shiny frame at the next attempt, this becomes a huge issue because I don't know if the same happened at the creation of the ID, so I might be checking from 990 to 1010 but I could have hit frames even before 990.
I wouldnt say it was a waste of time as you got what you wanted! Congrats
Dumb question but are you running your cartridge on PC? How do the programs communicate with the GBA if you're playing on a gameboy advance
Hes playing on a NDS with a capture card hooked up to his PC. the software isnt communicating with the game in any way shape or form...
Do you need to start a new file? Or can you start from after that since I already have access to the trainer ID?
Good luck!
Literally no clue wtf I’m doing
Broo😭
Only thing I don't get is knowing what ur looking for in the SID code list
What's the average time for finding your secret ID from start to finish? I've been hitting frames very inconsistently (get gud I guess) and I'm getting discouraged, feels like im going to take weeks, any tips?
Dude I was literally trying this for over a month and I was failing over and over again... but today I got it!! Thanks bro 😎
It took me 14 tries with different secret ids to get it, but it worked! Thanks
holyshit this actually works. after 3 sids i was about to give up but i decided to check 5 advances above 1010 and found a shiny torchic on 1014
Got it after a bit of trial and error. Took me about a dozen attempts to hit the frame because i'm terrible at that kind of stuff but I got my square shiny female mudkip.
I will try this with the Japanese Emerald I'm getting, great vid.
perfect tutorial! Got the shiny on my very first attempt! You earned a like from that.
How you did it?! I did every step and can't find my SID:(
Hi imablisy, ive been trying this for some time now and cant seem to get it right...

Does the Emerald battery need to be dry like in Ruby/Saphire
Setting the pre-timer to 5000 for the trainer set up worked great for me, I was only 2 frames off. Thanks for the tip!
Got my first Shiny Mudkip in a few hours thanks to your video - thanks so much Blisy!
i know this is old now, but is there some kind of program you can like to both eon timer and your emulator to hit the frames perfectly? id honestly be surprised if there wasnt. or maybe a timer feature in an emulator?
3:26 so is the rng going even with a dead battery?
So yesterday I added Choppy’s vid on this to my ToDo list for today, then saw this in my recommended and thought “oh why didn’t I see blisy had a video on this too?” and then looked at the date and saw this just came out 30min ago LOL
I put it off for a long time because I didn’t want to steal choppys method he discovered, but it’s been a long time and his tools are outdated so I think it’s okay now
Does this exact method also work with the German version of the game? I've been trying to get a shiny starter for 10 hours, but I just can't do it, is there anything to consider here?
take regular breaks is all i advise. consistency over grinding my friend, have patience.
I tried to hand start the timer, but I feel its causing to much inconsistancy.
ya gotta do it on the gba itself.
I started my SID at 990, currently on SID 1010. Getting pretty nervous that I completely screwed up
Well I got the correct frame on 1010... still no shiny :/

U got it?
I am in the same situation. Wondering if I should keep checking frames or if i just restart a new save entirely... Did you ever get it?
I'm having the same problem. I'm going to keep trying for a better SID since there's no way I'm waiting 20-70k frames every attempt.
if you’re able to confirm check off pokemon then you’re definitely doing it right, remember you’re working with pretty small sample sizes here - picking one SID out of so many possibilities could have netted you a bad set of shiny frames vs another. if half your shiny frames are bad so you only try the other half the odds of it “hiding” in the bad half of 4 SIDs is not that crazy low. i’d keep at it, still way easier, faster and more skill based than resetting for one normally
@@falseheadgossip1700 I figured it out awhile ago already. It was just probably bad timing or bad trainer id's. Was able to get the sid figured out and got me a shiny mew and deoxys with it.
@@Th3GoldenNose how can I use this to get other shiny ? Once I know my frame for example is 5 secs into my loading screen it will always be 5 secs?
@@reefermon7048 I only rnged in emerald for static mons, like mew, deoxys, and rayquaza. I used the same method for the sid which I believe is method 1? But I'd of course start at 0 for the calibration then just went from there with capturing the pokemon and finding out which frame I hit through poke finder, then calibrating eon timer each time it wasn't shiny inserting the frame I did hit and eventually you should hit the right frame.
So it's like frlg but without all the seed bs... Epic!

If I'm like 2 frames off do I have to keep checking the ivs of the starters and adjusting the timer or can I just keep resetting at that point?
hi! this video was really well done and easily explained what i have to do, thank you for that! i know this video is a little old... but my question is when using the eon timer, am i clicking A exactly at the 6th beep or after the beep is done? i keep getting the treecko right above and right below my target frame and its driving me nuts!!
exactly the 6th
my reccomendation to you would to be make sure you aren't constantly changing your frame hit in eon timer. 1-2 frames is well within human error, only if you're consistently hitting the same frame over and over again should you change your frame hit.
did you ever get your shiny? I'm having the same problem
@@t0astytyler i got a shiny about a week ago at frame 1008. I was high off my ass so I named my shiny mudkip "space cake"

Hi Blisy, the EonTimer for Mac does not seem to work. Any suggestions?
Landed that 1000 frame on the first go. Took two attempts to pull out a shiny Mudkip after that. Unreal how fast that was.
Hey are you ever going to release that rock smash rng manipulation video?
Took a little while but found my SID on frame 1006 and got my shiny Treecko! Thanks for the video, now my Ribbon Master will be a bit more shiny.
@colinscoot8893 when your switching frames do you reset your calibrations on Eon timer?
@@iStillLoveHer247 yeah I recalibrated each time I switch to a new SID and a new shiny frame. Calibration seemed to be slightly different depending on how long I was waiting for the shiny frame check.
LOL! On an SID I was attempting, the first frame option is 515. That is 8.622 seconds! I tried so hard, but it is impossible to hit that frame! Shame too...could have been a Timid shiny Treecko.

what i have learned from attempting this: it is hard to manipulate my luck in a game i’ve never played in a language i don’t understand
Love the vid!
Thanks!
Got a shiny treeko thanks to this video, thank you!
I think you can account for the delay by finding out the new target frame to set to using the formula below:
New target frame = (Target frame/ Hit frame) * 950
Using the above-mentioned example we get:
New target frame = (1500/1480) * 950
Which is equal to approximately 962.
Tis made the Emerald RNG sooo much easier

Hello!
Been trying to get a shiny Totodile from Prof Birch however I don't seem to hit the frames.
Does the doctor NPC walking around have to do this?
I usually just wait with the window thay says "YES, NO" for accepting the Totodile.
I'd really appreciate your help :D
How do you hit the higher frame "shinies"? when it's a lower frame count like around 1500 I can get the "shiny" easy but when it's 7000 or higher I have a really hard time hitting the frame at all.
Update: I finally got my shiny treecko! My SID was on 1003 and got a bit lucky with the advances of the frame. Also good tip: the soft reset seed starts when you release the buttons, so try to tap them really quick to be accurate with the Eon timer. That's what helped me most.
For anyone struggling, another tip that helped me is adding a pretimer before pressing "a" on the name screen. It helped keep me consistant between frames 998-1002.
