I WAS the biggest Tube fan - the singer, Bill Spooner, who does a great job of singing and playing guitar was a very dear friend of mine (along with Vince Wellnick on keyboards who played for The Grateful Dead until his sad, premature passing!) This is by far my favorite Tubes' ballad - a rare "serious" tune from a very much comedic, high energy Art Rock band that still hasn't gotten its dues! One of the GREAT shows of SF Rock that regularly made it to a small group of loyal European fans.

I was lucky to see them in 4 concerts. 3 of them were their "infamous" New Year's Eve concerts = twice at Bimbo's 365 and then when they got "famous" and performed to a sold out at Bill Graham's Winterland on New Year's Eve 1975, with beautiful girls running around topless and one depiction of one of the showgirls getting schtupped (NOT in the audience but on the stage!) during their "artistically outrageous" performance. I also saw them perform a couple of songs; including "Haloes" at the "infamous" AVN Adult Video Awards Show in Las Vegas around 1999.

When I saw them back in 2007 in Annapolis Md, the keyboardist started playing the intro while Fee started Talking About People He Had Lost In his life, & went right into a Powerful Speech about that a talented man that wrote this song (God I wish that I Could Remember the exact words that Fee used). And how he selfishly took his life. He was Angry but gave Vince His Dues & Wished that he was here Today. Anyone who knows a Foster Freeze Production can tell he worked on Arrangements and such, and I’m sure if everyone says it was was a Welnick/Foster Song, I’d believe that. But anyways it was a moving dedication, with Fee Admitting that he was Pissed at Vince for years for taking away Real Talent from this world.
But with me knowing a Great Deal about Depression, when we are at the end of Our Rope, we don’t think about what we are leaving behind. Sometimes we don’t think that there are Anybody to leave something behind to. They don’t know, Shit We don’t even know what’s going on within Our Own Minds

Honestly, today when listening, I think it was different when uplading, ....after uploading.
Few years later UA-cam made an update, a new arrangement to our sites...and I think it changed the video..the size, first of all, but the sound had changed, as well.
If I had the time I would like to make another upload (I still got the song on old vhs-tape....picture and sound was better..and not so much echo either...I will do it one fine day..yep! ✌💗

Spooner was perfect for this song. Yes, David Foster wrote this but this was not a Foster Chicago song with the overloaded keyboards and melodic vocals. This had a nice strong vocal, strong drums, strong guitar. Chicago kills this song off. The Tubes made it more rock.

It was Bill, Vince Welnick and David Foster who wrote this cool ballad. All three of them made it happen.

Original version was written by Spooner and Vince Welnik.Fee rewrote most of the lyrics and Foster added the bridge(rain section)

Sputnik was on point with this song. The Tubes were big time underrated. With that, Bill looks like he'd have a rough last 24 hours. I think I heard him say once he left the Tubes before he died.

Yes. I'm born and live in Germany. It could be the best FX to use for guitar players since decades: "Beer" or "Pils". You don't play better, but it seems so... PS: it was a Joke. In fact is every drunken played Gig not so good as it could be.
