@@fugazi5150 I am sure it is reliable. But if u read the Edmunds direct comparison of the 2, the Honda drives much better, especially on the highway. The CVT transmission is not great. Should have stayed with the V6

I work at a Toyota dealership and I'm actually waiting desperately for the new Sienna to show up already! I never thought I would say that about a minivan. I don't even have a family and I'm pumped. I felt the same way about the new Venza. I couldn't wait for it to show up and once it finally did, it was well worth the wait.
Appreciate the great review. We looked at the competition but Toyota won us over. AWD, hybrid and styling. We purchased our sienna a couple weeks ago, and extremely happy with our decision. The gas milage is insane, and love the long side middle row
I test drove a Sienna the other day. Looked great but was not impressed. Under powered is an understatement. If you need to pass or go up a hill good luck. I know it’s a van but this is not good power. It does have smooth riding suspension though. The interior in the back was a disappointment. The rear cup holder area is flimsy and you can literally shake the whole wall without any effort. The breaks are inconsistent with the usual Toyota hybrid breaks. Super grabby and hard to adjust too. Over all it was just okay. I like the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid much better.
What an Amazing Car. Definitely would pick this over the odyssey! Great REview Raiti! Seinnas are like rocket ships man. Not only are the interior and exteriors great but they also take off pretty well when you're alone
The 2021 Sienna LE is the one to get. They come standard with Blind Spot Monitoring System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert+ Power Lift Gate+ Remote Start + Hybrid + Same size infotainment system for less than $36k. The XLE cost 5k more. For comparison the 2020 Sienna LE start at the same price as the 2021 LE, but if you want Blind Spot Monitoring System you have to get the LE package for $950 and they still don't come with Power Lift Gate. Great review 👍
Great comprehensive review of the 2021 Toyota Sienna. I just had watched the video of the 2020 Sienna and then this popped up to review. What great minivans and videos for both years! We are giving up our leased 2018 XLE Highlander in April and want to go back to a Sienna after we had a 2005 Sienna. We're retired and want to move to Florida so reliability, comfort and cargo space are key features for us. Cost may limit us to a used Sienna for the next car. Congrats on on your videos!
3 kids, under 3, I have 2 rear facing and i drive an older version of sienna I like the way the new gen moves the captains chairs but what id really love to see is a stow and go type captain chair so I can access the back easier it was really difficult while pregnant to do the rear facing in back. Overall though I think I'm gonna go with another sienna
You sold me on getting a minivan man! I just picked up a 2005 Honda Odyssey with 145,000 miles for only $3000. It had new tires too! First thing is I put a new timing belt and waterpump in. Then I got a couple of Acura MDX 18 inch rims for the back and put some nice 234/50R18 Supermax tires on them. They smoothed out the ride and it corners flatter now. These things are too expensive new, but used they are THEE buy!
I love my van.... Honda Odyssey. But this Toyota is absolutely next level. Just the mpg is fantastic. A great interstate family party mobile..... especially with all the places to put my Funyuns
I was surprised to learn that the new Sienna comes with ventilated rear brakes. Why is this? Do other minivans do? are they expecting big break loads? Being a hybrid I would expect most of the brake load to be done by the electric motors.

Why does the top end platinum have the exact same 9 inch screen as the base model. Sorry, but another thing about that screen is that it already looks outdated with all those cheap shiny slanted buttons from the 90's. Just make it all screen. Good god. @@hassansmw5634 that $7K is your gas saving right there buddy. Anyone could take money off the MSRP. I rather saving that money, get more HP and spend more on gas every month instead of paying all that money up front with the Sienna.
@@ikelee They are both comparable in price. Sometimes you can get a Toyota for less money out the door. 19 mpg city is absolutely awful mpg for a front drive vehicle with poor ground clearance. Honda should be ashamed of themselves. Full size pickups are getting better mpg in the city with 2wd. Minivans are usually driven in city traffic for short distances shuttling kids around. Toyota is smart to make there van hybrid only. Honda has three inaccessible spark plugs, a timing belt, and accessory drive belt on their van. Most mechanics won’t touch a transverse V6. It’s expensive dealer only maintenance. The ICE on the Sienna is easy to work on. The only maintenance is the spark plugs which are easily accessible since it’s an I4. There is no accessory belt, timing belt, starter, alternator, or belt driven water pump.
Sat in one of these today and found it has no headroom-6’3” and couldn’t sit up straight. Even with seat reclined quite a bit I couldn’t fit in the passenger front seat.
A fantabulous review overall, Raiti !!!!!! Just one suggestion, you should've highlighted the fact that at this price point, the Sienna offers an electrically adjustable steering wheel.
It’s a damn shame that people can’t get past the idea of a minivan, when if you have kids the minivan is THE BEST vehicle to have. But I guess people are to proud.
Joe: I just drove a 2021 Sienna Limited. I waited 6 months to drive one before I bought a mini van. I'm so disappointed. I love the way you described the car and wanted to buy one until I saw it for myself. My wife and I both thought the interior looked and felt cheap! The steering wheel felt just like it was plastic instead of wrapped in leather. The seats also looked cheap. It did not feel like a plusher leather found on my 2019 Highlander Limited. The "soft" plastic door panels and dashboard wasn't all that soft either. Boy what a disappointment. The hybrid also was noisy when you accelerated in town and on the freeway. I was so disappointed, that I ended up buying a 2020 Sienna Limited! You should tell people to save their money and buy a much plusher 2020 Sienna. I'm sure Toyota can fix these problems, but, until they do, I'd buy an Odyssey or something else.
We're in the same place, the decision is a hard one! The thing we disliked most about the Sienna was the inability to remove the second row seats. We also felt like that while the mpg was a terrific selling point but that you paid for the fuel savings up front when comparing the price tag of the mid-range models of the two vans. Do we go for the current solidly established Odyssey design or take the plunge with a the first rollout of a new redesign? We've owned our current Sienna for 15 years so we trust the brand a lot. But also, our local Honda dealer is willing to extend the warranty of an new Odyssey to 10 years, 200K miles for only 2K. That's a hard deal to pass up.
Not being able to remove the second row of seats is probably going to break the interest for us. Much more limiting what you can do and the space you have. Don’t need to remove the seats often, but when you need to, you need to. Very frustrated about this. We have had Toyota and Honda and like them both. Currently, have a 1 year old Odyssey and it’s worked well.
With 11 passengers wouldn’t the vehicle weight classification fall into commercial vehicle? I heard that’s why you can’t get 8 passenger seating in the Sienna’s upper trims.
Do the middle row seats remove in lower trims? I breed and show Great Danes and we currently have an Odyssey to haul them around, so removable middle seats is a key feature for us.
Any channel that will show me a purple Cullinan and a Toyota minivan has the range to last. I love it!

11 seater is going to be KDM.
Do the middle row seats remove in lower trims?
I breed and show Great Danes and we currently have an Odyssey to haul them around, so removable middle seats is a key feature for us.
2011-2019 Sienna yes. This 4th generation from LE trim to Platinum does not have removable captain chairs unfortunately
