"What's a cone cell, mate?" Hahahaha! I really dig the way you add history and context. I always feel like I way away from your reviews more informed about the camera you're reviewing, and also about photography tech in general. Awesome work!
Picked one of these up a couple of years ago for couple of hundred English monies. I have taken some of my favourite shots with it and highly regard the quality of image it can produce.
@@shutterslaps4938 Thank you! I also ordered the X100V a couple days ago...its arriving in a week! My 1st upgrade since 2014 and im excited! That Bayer sensor on the OG though, I really like the colors from the straight out of camera jpegs it produces. I also like the dedicated RAW button.
Another AMAZING video! I just love your conversational tone and humour in the videos.. subscribed! As for the x100.. what an amazing camera..I'm envious!
Great video! I'm glad to see you included the unboxing - a lot of effort (and packing tape) went into that! I've been enjoying the rest of your videos too, keep up the great work!
You got me at anti-alias... elia...Lsing jajajaja. Did you ended the vid at 6:45 and just let it roll? What a legend! (Cool photos btw jajajaja elia..aliasing) 🤓
I have my late dad’s black paint X100. He took 35,000 pics with it. So I’ll never part with it. I shoot it OVF only, never review the photos until I get to my Mac… typically Monochrome-R or Astia, with cinebloom filter for the film look. 8x10s look fine. Set it to f/8 and dollars to donuts you’ll be in focus, or go f/2 for a dreamy blurry feel. 😊It’s very free-ing.
At the moment (11/8/21) my digital black and white camera is the Ricoh GRD1 …. And I don’t see that changing any time soon. For colour, I guess the x100 would be it for now… followed closely by the canon G2 … my favourite colours I’m getting is easily from my 5D classic, but it’s just not small enough to have out on a daily. What about you? What’s your daily?
Im curious how good this x100 is. I just picked up an XF1 with 12 mp 2/3's exr cmos and was very impressed. So much so. Im selling my XF10 because there is not enough difference for my needs to deal with the size and its quirky focus
I actually bought an x100 and updated the firmware and i love love love it. I also bought the S a week later. I do not like the way skin looks with the xtans. I wish the 100 handled like the S
3:00 I've definitely had old lady friends that have waged war on my taking cameras everywhere I went lol! I also wear crocs past 2010 and I usually have some sort of decade old point an shoot in my jogging pants pocket! haha
Thanks Neil 👏👏 that’s a tough decision, those 2 cameras are very different, even though they are are sometimes compared side by side. The x100 line feels more like an old film camera, with its manual controls and film simulations. It’s solid metal and has an amazing OVF, any camera that has an OVF that’s worth using (and most Fuji cameras do) is something special, it builds a relationship with the camera because your bringing it up to you eye and physically looking through the camera. Also it’s a beautiful camera that strangers and friends don’t mind having in their face (mostly). But it’s definitely not a pocketable camera and having a lens hood/cap will make it even bigger. The Ricoh on the other hand is a tool… a job specific tool , that can not be beaten by any competitors…. It’s pocketable 100% which means there’s no reason not to have ot with you 100% of the time. Which means you will take more photos…. Photos you simply couldn’t get with an x100. Also it’s (GR2) the camera that’s almost like not having a camera… if your out with friends or somthing and you notice a composition, you reach into your pocket, grab the GR2 and capture it… put the camera back, and now your back to just hanging with friends ….. with the x100… you’ll still have it swinging around your neck on a strap or in a little satchel bag . Also the GR2 takes editing Realy well and is very inconspicuous… Hope this helps 😅
The X100 in my opinion gives you the best colors in raw of any x100 series, but better than the later xtran sensor bullshit. Only problem is 1 out of 10 pictures would be out of focus for no reason.
Nice video. I got a X100V last year. I was happy for a month, then somehow lost interest. I sold it a couple of months ago. I found out that I cannot be married to a 23mm lens 😅
@@shutterslaps4938 I just like to take a 20mm one day and an 85mm the next day and try to get the best out of it. A jupiter 8 is doing fantastic on a mirrorless camera by the way. Get an X-T1 or X-T10 and try a stack of old lenses on it! An X-T10 with a small lens would be of the same size 😊
@@KimHojbergJensen 100% agree! Adapting old lenses to a digital body is way too much fun! I started down that rabbit hole some years ago with a panasonic G2 and various olympus film lenses. Switched to film photography for a while playing with half-frame 35mm cameras but recently have come back to digital with a Nikon Z5 and planning on going down that adapted lens rabbit hole again.
Picking up a quality copy of a FinePix X100 will be rewarded as it assumes its certain cult status. In the interim you will have a passport into environments that usually aren’t hospitable to those carrying more imposing cameras.
