I’ve been a pro for 45 years and this is my favourite camera. I travelled Thailand, Tasmania and New Zealand just with this camera. The lens quality alone makes it worth buying. In the leather case it is great for engaging people who think it is a 50 year old film camera. It is the super modern version of the Olympus Trip 35.
I read this focusing trick somewhere and thought i'd share it. 1. Set your X100 to manual focus. 2. Point it to where/what you want in focus. 3. Press the AFL/AEL button. The camera will do a autofocus. 4. Shoot your picture. That's it. With this manual method, you can set your focus-zone once and shoot manually from there. Much much faster. This little trick has made my X100 experience better...
I notice there is so much new gear being brought out on a regular basis, that it seems all we do is talk about sensor sizes, low light performance, the tech of camera manufacture. Thank God for this. Photography is about story telling, with light as your brush - and learning to use the kit we have, not sweating about whether it will be out of date by Christmas.
i watched your video and used my part-time job salary to buy a used Fuji x100, and it's the best thing has ever happened to me. AF is not that bad, takes 2s to switch on, image quality is stunning and the battery is phenomenal. thank you GxAce
The X100 is truly a great value in 2018. I always laugh when people think a seven year old camera can’t hang, they are easily swayed by simple marketing tactics. Nice job on the video.
I've got the Fuji xpro 1 of 2012 with the 35 mm 1.4 lens! it's always a good camera :D Don’t throw away your old camera, it can always be useful and the résult is awesome!
I use an Olympus XZ-1 and love it. It's wicked old, has a small sensor, but still shoots beautiful photos. I imagine this would be lovely, especially without the Xtrans in it. I hate the Xtrans!
Great macro shots. Great b-roll. Great lighting. Great photos! Very concise and did a great job of highlighting the pure awesomeness that is this camera!
I put in a bid on a X100 this year and I end up winning the auction. Although I wanted a later model I didn't regret it because it was basically mint, barely used. The owner didn't even update the firmware to the latest version lol. Original leather case that wasn't even used was included, along with the original Fuji lens hood, packaging, sealed SD card and so on.
I have the limited edition black model and it is still chugging along years after I bought it. No sticky aperture blades. Autofocus could be better, compared with today's cameras, but the overall shooting experience is great. The CMOS sensor has a look that the later X Trans sensors seem to have lost. It is the kind of camera I wish I'd had when starting out with photography.
Seriously right? It still so good. I came to the realization the other day that cameras are not like computers. They don't necessarily become obsolete because they have gotten older. Technology changes and system requirements change for computers and new software just doesn't run on old computers. A picture is a picture. It isn't going to become less beautiful over time. Sure maybe a 2 mega pixel image might look a little dated now, but we view stuff on Instagram regularly which is basically the same resolution.
There both CMOS - 1 Has Bayer Filter Array and 1 has X-Trans Filter Array - I have an X100T which I use regularly but might pickup the Original 2nd hand
The good thing about the black version is you can still find brand new ones in 2018 for less than a third of the original price including the original leather case
Really fantastic video- I was interested into trying out a Fuji camera since I've always used just Nikon & Sony/Minolta so I picked up a wee X100 at a decent price a few days back. loving it so far, means I can separate out my A7III & other 'work' cameras and have a little point and shoot for when I'm off duty. The biggest decider for me is always viewfinders, I just can't compose a shot or enjoy making photographs without one so this little rangefinder is just a godsend. Coming back to this video to comment I also just realised it was you that made "Peripheral". Stumbled across that earlier this year but never realised it was all you! Great stuff man.
I've bought this camera now. Its My first camera so I have no reference to anything but all I can say is that its fun to use and really makes you live in the moment when you're out and about.
It's wild to see the prices of these older models now (x100, x100s etc) on the second hand market. Managed to pick up a x100s for under $300 pre covid and now they are 1000+ on ebay.
Paul Hardman got mine from facebook marketplace in my area. Im from the philippines i just found 2 units available in the country. Used. Try to widen your search radius in the settings. Wishing you luck.
I bought another one two weeks ago for $200 including the original leather case. It's in mint condition and only has 85 clicks. The owner obviously never used it. It's a steal but he's happy and so am I. I wanted to make sure I'll still have one to shoot with 10 years from now
Боря Дюпон man! You're the luckiest! Just make sure it doesn't have the sticky aperture problem. I would buy another for that price as well i i could find one again. Lol
Great video! The X100 was my gateway drug into the whole Fujifilm world. I LOVED the sensor in that thing and as you say, it's still produces great image quality even by today's standards. I really dig the shot at 1:11. I love the lighting, composition and overall color pallet of the image!
KentuckyMan30 cheers! Thanks for the kind words! People tend to think that because a digital camera is old means it is now automatically terrible. Not a fan of that sentiment.
Yeah, totally agree. Using cameras from 7-10 years ago isn't the same as using a computer from 7-10 years ago. I can still produce brilliant results with my 5 year old X-T1 now and for years to come whereas there's no way my old laptop from 2011 would ever be able to keep up in today's world or beyond (without significant upgrades that is). I've since updated my X100 to the X100T purely for functionality reasons (like having the D-pad on the back instead of that fiddly scroll wheel), but it was certainly not because the image quality wasn't good enough. For all the hype around Fujifilm's colors coming out of their X-Trans sensors, I thought the bayer sensor in the X100 produced fantastic colors in the RAW files.
My thoughts exactly! I wish more people thought about this. I recently did a review of the amazing Epson R-D1 a digital m-mount rangefinder which was the very first mirrorless camera from back in 2004. That thing was so much fun and still totally usable today.
Oh, The R-D1 is such a cool camera! I've never used one, but it looks like a blast to shoot with. From the videos I've watched, the image quality is quite impressive for a 6MP CCD sensor. I'd take that with an M-mount lens over the iPhone in my pocket any day and it's considered "archaic" tech. Haha.
I just bought this camera as a beginner after a very seasoned photographer I know recommended it to me and after I watched a couple of videos (e. g. this one), as I needed a new hobby which would make me go outside more. I couldn't be more happy with the decision. It has so much soul and it's a camera you really like to carry around. I'm still practicing on composition and settings, but it's so much fun. It's a great camera for beginners too, as it is reasonable priced, even though the prices have gone up in the last 2-3 years due to it's legendary status.
After watching this video 50 times over, I finally picked one up for 200 euros. So excited to get out there with it. Just looking at this camera is fun.
I had this camera and its successors and you could add that, to my taste, the color rendering has decreased on the next models. This one has a unique rendering which I liked a lot.
@@vgkinis definitely it's because of the sensor difference. And I agree, there's definitley a more organic look to the images on the original. But I also love classic chrome on my x100f and with some white balance shift can look even better!
My intro was the S, it was sadly lost in a sleepy moment in a cab and now I have the T. You inspired me to keep it no matter if I buy a rx1r ii or not!
I love my x100s for the image quality, however the autofocus has kinda made me forget about the camera a bit. But your video was so awesome, that I will probably get the camera back from the shelf into my hands.
X100 was the first camera I ever bought and the last. It feels like a Leica and shoots like one. It's not the best camera but it just has that special feel even the colours and softness in the image requires no heavy edits.
Instantly fell in love with this video, and your shots are also absolutely stunning, well done! Definitely going to look into buying myself one of these as a first camera considering I don't have a big budget.
this is one of those rare channels where you just know you can't but instantly subscribe. without even checking out a second video. I feel like I'm watching movie ... there is this specific vibe, your signature I guess. Your X-T3 video had this beautiful 80s mood... those colors reminded me of blade runner somehow. Anway, fantastic content. Glad I found you
Thank you so much! It’s very encouraging to know that my style is coming across how I was hoping :). Thank you for supporting the channel and I hope I can keep making even better content :)
Just got a 100T to break away from using my phone as a camera so much. Loving it so far. The intentionality of a proper camera makes an immense difference to wanting to go and shoot.
one of my favorite things about this camera (along with the other iterations of it) is definitely the leaf shutter. it's just so quiet! a lot of cameras are too loud imo for street or just general use. the other thing i like is the discreet-ness of it. a lot of people don't care/are more at ease with it when i'm in public which is great tbh haha.
Totally agree with your comments about the x100, but would say this camera is not only for beginners/students but all doing street photography. Also keep in mind that the newest version still has the same lens imbodied. I still use the camera next to the Xpro2 almost daily, as it is always with me and producing gorgeous shots.
I’ve just managed to pick one up here in Australia in mint condition for $350.00 with hood and so card and new uv filter. It came in original boxes etc. It’s a beautiful little camera. Why did I buy it? Retro looks, reviews on how the Bayer sensor renders files. Simplicity of use, and looked just right for street photography which I want to persue. I have two Olympus cameras which I love too. I won’t be selling those. I cannot wait to get out there and start. Thank you for a beautiful video.
Wonderful commentary paired with stunning visuals...really enjoyed this review of the X100! I've had one of these babies since the original release, but haven't used it in a year or more. Time to pull it out of the cupboards and put it to use. Can't wait to use it on the streets of Tokyo next week Thanks again!
I agree om your view on the x100. Also the x-pro1. Couple it with some vintage lenses and the analog experience is not far away. Yes, i shoot a lot of film as well.
Great production values on this video. And some fantastic photography. I have the X100S and I bring it almost everywhere. You learn to work around the fixed focal length and ultimately that’s a good thing. I love the feel of it. The image quality is great. I shoot raw but still process them initially with Silkypix to retain the Fuji film emulations. The colours are fantastic. The later versions have more emulations because Fuji didn’t update the firmware on the older ones (😬) but Silkypix has a Kodachrome emulation and an Agfa one which I love.
Was on the fence when X100 first came out, it was between X100 or XE-1. Went with the XE-1 in the end because I was worried that having fixed lens would bother me eventually. But agree that X100 is still amazing camera to have, even if just to have a camera to bring with you when you don't want to bring a camera. Also, the video is beyond awesome. Would love to see some behind the scenes or even just to know what setup you have for all the b-roll shots. Definitely looking forward to new stuff coming out. :)
Yeah the fixed lens can scare people off, but in my opinion you cannot go wrong with a 35mm equiv lens. So versatile. I think people might be surprised how low budget my b-roll setup is hahah Thanks for the kind words! I just uploaded another video so please check it out! :)
Awesome video, wow, both the production quality and the content. Super! I still use my original X100! Amazingly, I often pick it up, and travel with it, instead of my Leica M9! In part it is because it is such an amazing camera with a super shooting experience, and in part it is because it is cheaper. I feel that if it gets lost or stolen it would be less of a catastrophe than the same happening with my M9. I love it!
I started with the T. I was shooting a 5d, 7d and 20d with a bunch of L lenses. I sold it all once I realized how much I loved the T and then bought an xt-2 for my “pro” work, but now I use the V for 95% of my paid work. I love the x100 series!
Agree so much with you that a years old camera could still be relevant in 2018. I was a heavy Fuji shooter in the past and a Sony shooter for a year. I have recent been re-visiting my images taken by my X-E2 and X100T in the past, and they still look stunning and the colors are so much more pleasing than the Sony's unless you put a significant amount of time into editing them. Love your editing by the way, it was so straight forward, eyecatching, and I instantly subscribe after this video :)
Using a film camera always reminds me I AM using a film camera. Springs and levers beat beeps and batteries for me. Zorki 4K with the Jupiter 8 50mm f2 lens. Try the Jupiter on the Fuji
Oh for sure! Definitely a better experience, but with digital it’s hard to get closer (except the Epson rd1). I have tried it out actually! I have a few Jupiter 8’s laying around and a defunct zorki ;)
I’ve been looking online for a everyday camera and it’s been so hard. I shoot film and don’t own a digital camera and really don’t want to pay the price for a digital camera. Your video just saved me, thank you!!!!
One of the things that I love about my original X100 is its sensor. Fujifilm abandoned it for the subsequent versions of the camera, so the original X100's files have a look that is all their own. It's similar to the Leica M9 generation of cameras, with their CCD sensors. I've got one of each, and they feel, to this 54-year-old, "had a camera in my cradle," photographer, the closest thing to the cameras I used for most of my career. I'm not going to shotgun any sports with those cameras, but I never used my M4-P or Olympus XA for that stuff. That's what my Nikon was for, and it was good at its job. But the little rangefinders, like the X100 and M9-P, were just for me and were, and are, the best tools for saying to the world, "take a moment and let me share this amazing thing I saw."
Glad to see someone else appreciates the X100's sensor. I've compared it to my X100F RAW shots, and most are better on the X100 but I couldn't put my finger on the reason why. I did some research but can't find an explanation why the Bayer sensor's image quality is actually better than X-Trans. Any theory why that is?
@Brian Dunlea What was the damage? My X100 shows a couple of specs of dust only visible when on EVF mode. Sensor is clean and optical mode is completely fine.
This is the first video of yours I've seen and it's one of the most beautiful on UA-cam! I had the original X100 not long after it first came out but regrettably, I sold it. Now many cameras later and I have the Fuji X-T20 with 23mm f2 but I still miss the good old X100. With Christmas looming I am very tempted to see if Santa will bring me one again.
I switched from Canon to Fuji because of this camera. The X100S is slightly better the X100T is definitely better and the X100F is phenomenal but I still use the original X100 everyday. No other camera makes me feel better. Thanks for the review!
The camera doesn't matter, and YOU could take amazing photos with any camera, even a disposable with expired film! That said, I love Fujifilm, and I'm thinking about giving up my X-E2 for an X100S, in 2022. The optical viewfinder and portability are the selling points. Due to my existence within a consumerist society, I think way too much about equipment and don't spend enough time shooting, so any chance to simplify is welcome. Thanks for your unique vision and inspiration. My only complaint? Not enough videos!
I bought the x100 when it first came out. Got the x100t when it came out, I much prefer the mk 1 and kept it and sold the T. The sensor on the mk1 produces better images in my opinion, even though controls are frustrating!
very nice review. i had this camera back in the days, used with 5D2 and had the same thoughts about it as you do. I've sold it because of the flaws it had, we can say it was quite iffy. But for the price it's a steal, olny thing is that X100S is not much more expencive but it has a lot to offer.
Yes the x100s can be bought used for not a lot more and is an altogether better camera. The following models used the same lens and processor, just added wifi, bigger sensor, gps etc
The best thing about this camera is how closely it can look like film, especially in b&w. ISO 1600 looks just like tri-x film grain, this is the only digital I have left and gets used if I can't shoot film for some reason. It's really the only digital camera that mimics film grain
Got mine in 2011 and its not going anywhere, have shot thousands of images with it, been through UK, Cambodia as a travel camera. I love the files. I use a 5DIII and 7DII for other stuff but my X100 is still kind of my favourite, the colours and the way the files render are beautiful
I've got an M9 and a Sony A7 and I still bought an original X100 because I missed having one, as they are special little cameras. Great video and amazing production values.....and photos. Awesome job 👍
I used to own the x100. I miss it when I look back at old photos. . Use it when you want to be low profile. Also carry a more sophisticated cam for higher demanding shots. But sometimes for travel, you don't want to pull out an expensive camera in certain situations. i.e. when you don't want to draw attention.
I have a deep love/hate relationship with my x100T. It can take amazing pictures and has a unique look and feel to it. On the other hand, the autofocus in lower light situations is laughable and the firmware has some puzzling design flaws. If you go too manual with this camera and plan on shooting moving things you're bound to be frustrated. If you keep it mostly auto, you might be okay if you got some decent light.
My original looks so banged up when I sold it. Felt good to give it to a young new photographer! I had it for 4 years as my only camera and sold it two years ago.
The only reason I sold my $375 X100 for a gently used $600 X100T last summer was to get black and WiFi. I am about to sell my D7100 as I never carry it anymore.
Am i crazy or something? I just bought the original x100 on ebay and i dunno if it's just been luck or whatever but the dynamic range seems slightly better than my x100f?? Regardless i love both, but yes there is indeed something different about this sensor that is quite nice :)
I'm still using my original x100 in 2020! Although, the aperture blades stick sometimes at f8 or smaller. But still many times I will choose this cam over my Sony or Leica because it's so lightweight and damn it renders shadows nicely!
just got mine yesterday in mint condition(350€). i instantly fall in love with the camera. it's pure magic. if you find one don't think a lot .. buy it!
Beautiful photos. There's only one reason I disagree with you about buying an older x100. The durability. These things will give up the ghost before you want them to. They are dropping like flies. And after that, they are an expensive brick. Fuji won't repair anything but the current x100 model. I learned this the hard way, TWICE.
I've sold all of my digital equipment because it was very detrimental for my creativity. All but my Fuji X100 OG: very filmish, very similar process to the one I use with my M6. A great introduction to photography.
still watching your works, even sometimes over sometimes. I think you should look at the 5Dclassic, that camera is by far the monster of film feel. You said in one of your videos you bought the M9 for the Kodak film feel built in, but the Canon 5D mk1 built better film-esq colors into that sensor to get 35mm fans over to Digital. I have quite a few Fujifilm, but i still use the 5Dmk1 for street and 50mm 1.8 works. Its so old, but still a game changer for artistic approach. It's nothing like the 5D2/3/4 etc.
My x100 changed my photographic life 5 years ago. I now have owned every x100. They get better with each version. Btw your taking head setup looks great! You look like a man from the future about to warn us people in the past about things to come. Very bladerunneresq.
Dude your video inspired me so much that the next day i got one for 230 on Ebay haha. I stated my Photography experience with a digital (A6500). I wanted to have the best allrounder at that time and i didn't care about full-frame or so. Nothing wrong with it, it's definitly is a great Camera and it does it's job. But i had one problem which i'm still dealing with it to this day. Ok i got better in it but this editing thing makes me really desperate sometimes. I brought then a Minolta x700, also for cheap deal on Ebay and i immediately felt in love with Filmphotogaphy. Because of it's simplicity and of course you take it as it is, no more headache about over editing. Still love it and i love the process about film but sometimes it takes a good amount of time that i often don't have. I was looking for solution to keep taking pictures fast and that looked already usable straight out of the box and of course not spending to much on gear. Then i stumbled across your Video !!! BTW those cinematic sequences SOOOO GOOOD. Now, i Get to the point and i'm sorry for bothering you with maybe a question you answered a thousand of times. But i was wondering what setting did/do you use because your pictures look astonishing. Huge Fan of your videos and that futuristic style. Keep on doing that great stuff !!!
Awesome!!! I'm edit the photos in lightroom to get the look that I want most of the time, unless I'm shooting black and white. Thank you very much for watching!
That was exactly my experience with 5D ii, I barely touched it and eventually sold it to get X-E1 then X-T1. Still have X-100F and this whole line is just so pleasant to shoot. I switched to x-100f because of the ISO dial, really handy to have. If they could put a lens with physical focus ring similar to Leica and dropped this fly-wire it would be golden. But autofocus is usually pretty good so I use it all the time, while all other controls in manual. With 5D I mostly shot in aperture priority, but x-100 is pleasant and quick enough to shoot in full manual.
I've been thinking about selling mine. I've been using it as my go everywhere camera (weddings, events, concerts, street, lunch) and replacing it with the x100f. But I think im going to challenge myself now to get the most out of it till its dead.

Interesting! I'm totally going to try this!
i do this too
So I've been shooting this camera for years, and never did this. What a great idea...
Woah. Gamechanger!
I was thinking about this function today as a way of zone focusing am I right?

Wow!! That's amazing to hear! I'm glad you enjoy it too! It's such an underrated camera, especially for the price! Keep shooting!!
The X100 is truly a great value in 2018. I always laugh when people think a seven year old camera can’t hang, they are easily swayed by simple marketing tactics. Nice job on the video.
It definitely can hang with the cameras now. Thanks for watching!
Agree. 2 of my favorite cameras are my 2006 Leica M8, and my 2005 Canon 5D, both still creating beautiful pictures.
You're so right Joe. Who keeps a camera more than a couple of years now? If it's one of these - I do!
I've got the Fuji xpro 1 of 2012 with the 35 mm 1.4 lens! it's always a good camera :D Don’t throw away your old camera, it can always be useful and the résult is awesome!

Great comment.
Great list of compliments.
Great use of the word "awesomeness"
Thanks for the kind words :)
Yeah, a really nicely produced review. Top work.
Good score!!
Should we update to the latest firmware on Fuji x100 nowadays? In 2019 I just brought one

Many people still swear by the original X100 and X-Pro1 sensors for getting that film-like look.
Benson Stein I believe the X-Pro1 has the X-Trans sensor, which is the same as the one in the X100S, while the original X100 has a CMOS sensor.

The x100 is the only camera that I REFUSE to sell. It's colour signiture from its sensor is so uniquely satisfying.
HANG ON TO THAT BABY. NEVER LET GO.

Totally agreed with you. I just got mine for around 250 just last week and i couldn't be happier with this little shooter
Such a steal.
what website did you get it from?
Paul Hardman got mine from facebook marketplace in my area. Im from the philippines i just found 2 units available in the country. Used. Try to widen your search radius in the settings. Wishing you luck.

Thought I was watching a multi million dollar ad I’m the beginning. 👌 good work man. New fav. New sub.
How do you know I didn't spend $1 million??? hahah Thanks for the sub! You are too kind.
Great video! The X100 was my gateway drug into the whole Fujifilm world. I LOVED the sensor in that thing and as you say, it's still produces great image quality even by today's standards. I really dig the shot at 1:11. I love the lighting, composition and overall color pallet of the image!

Haha.
It’s such an awesome camera. I would die if someone made something like it again now, as long as it wasn’t Leica prices.
You gotta do a B-roll tutorial! Those intro shots were amazing 🔥
rn I just might do that sometime soon. Thanks for the kind words! I need to shoot b-roll of shooting b-roll haha
Please do. Your work is fantastic.
gonna steal your stylee
Honestly dude I’d love to learn how to get shots like this
Usually on these types of videos photographers take some bad pictures for their examples, but yours are amazing. Great video!
i still have this bad boy! never getting rid of it
HOLD IT CLOSE
After watching this video 50 times over, I finally picked one up for 200 euros. So excited to get out there with it. Just looking at this camera is fun.
And do you like the camera? Any thoughts?
I had this camera and its successors and you could add that, to my taste, the color rendering has decreased on the next models. This one has a unique rendering which I liked a lot.
Eric Duprat it was and IS a great camera :)
I agree! But any idea as to why? Is it a bayer vs xtrans or a different processor question?
@@vgkinis definitely it's because of the sensor difference. And I agree, there's definitley a more organic look to the images on the original. But I also love classic chrome on my x100f and with some white balance shift can look even better!
My intro was the S, it was sadly lost in a sleepy moment in a cab and now I have the T. You inspired me to keep it no matter if I buy a rx1r ii or not!
I love my x100s for the image quality, however the autofocus has kinda made me forget about the camera a bit. But your video was so awesome, that I will probably get the camera back from the shelf into my hands.
Is the auto focus poor ? Or do you mean forget about you manually focusing
Thanks!!! It’s not the perfect camera but what is really. You’ll have fun if you take your time with this camera :)
this is one of those rare channels where you just know you can't but instantly subscribe. without even checking out a second video.
Agreed. It's hard to take a bad picture with this camera. Plus the battery life is insane, even after all these years.
Felt all of these when I got mine! Even made me give up my beautiful 5d classic and it’s colors! Great stuff man. I’m subbing.
Just got a 100T to break away from using my phone as a camera so much. Loving it so far. The intentionality of a proper camera makes an immense difference to wanting to go and shoot.
Sorry but if you don't take very large prints, the raw image quality of this camera is better than S and T. It's on par with F.
Deniz Boz why and how?! I just ordered one. This is great news to me.
Sad you can't still find these at that price.
They are now 500+$ on eBay
one of my favorite things about this camera (along with the other iterations of it) is definitely the leaf shutter. it's just so quiet! a lot of cameras are too loud imo for street or just general use. the other thing i like is the discreet-ness of it. a lot of people don't care/are more at ease with it when i'm in public which is great tbh haha.
Absolutely! This camera is so quiet! I wish more digital cameras had leaf shutters.
Thanks for the video. Just bought one in mint condition for 200 swiss francs (around 200 dollars). Will give it to my daughter! Very happy!
Kai-Uwe Steuber good find! She will love it!
Jesus the B-Roll and images you took are amazing
You are so very welcome! I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!
I have one that I boxed away in mint condition, time to take it out to play with.
Thanks!! Did you end up taking it to Tokyo??
GxAce sure did...haven’t had a chance to look at the results yet, but it was the perfect camera for this trip.
This is the guy being excited for a video, imagine him when he's bored 🤣
You've got me imagining!
Hahaha exactly this guys is excited on FF 100 then 5dii but he kept it on flat xpression. Astonishing photo btw its beautiful fuji color.
This is one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen on UA-cam... So impressed.
Too kind! Thank you!
I love my X100 OG even more than my primary camera X-T2
I agree om your view on the x100. Also the x-pro1. Couple it with some vintage lenses and the analog experience is not far away. Yes, i shoot a lot of film as well.
Keep shooting film! I’ll be making a lot more film related videos soon.
Thanks!! It's good to see you are still using the older model!
Your pictures are giving me the itch to go out and buy this camera. Those examples give me good reason enough to consider this as my next compact.
still using a X100s since it released, and also still using a 5DII for slow creative work, agree with your idea cheers!
I love it!
Thanks for the kind words! That's funny because I really really want an M9 hahah
Your editing skills are amazing...the video quality of the XT3 is incredible...
Thank you!! Yeah, the X-T3 is an amazing little camera!
This is most underatted channel
This is the must underrated comment ;) Thanks!
Saw a x100 today, thought of your video, bought it for $150.
Thanks for your videos Gx,
They're always in the back of my head.
@Brian Dunlea Thanks for the info and enjoy the X100T. It's definitely a more "modern" camera compared to the X100.
Loved this video man, the photo shown at the 4:37 mark of the video reminded me of a Gregory Crewdson scene, very well done.
I bought a new X100T when they were first released, still my favorite camera, of which I have many.
Where have you been all my life. This is so much better than all the other talking head gear videos out there.
I've been right here, playin' with that sweet sweet x100. Thanks for the comment! Now I have standards to live up to... THANKS!
Wow! You are far too kind. Thank you! I hope Santa pulls through ;)
dude I just picked up an x100 and my Gawd ! i'm brown away with the colors, the evf and the leaf shutter with flash my gawd !
Sweet! I'm glad you love it aw much as me! Its a steal for such a cool camera!
First 30 seconds of this video is a clinic in production quality; audio is perfect.
Thank you! Would it make you sad to find out it was one light that had a bunch of paper towel in front of it for diffusion?
I switched from Canon to Fuji because of this camera. The X100S is slightly better the X100T is definitely better and the X100F is phenomenal but I still use the original X100 everyday. No other camera makes me feel better. Thanks for the review!
You are welcome! It definitely has a feeling to it that just makes you want to use it.
Hey mate this vidéo is so cool, just wanted to ask you what was the film simulation you use for the 2:23 pictures, this one is just CRAZY. Love.
These images are awesome. Thanks. I was nearly about to sell my x100. I think this has just changed my mind!
Cherish it! It was really a ground breaking camera for its time and even today! I wish more manufacturers would follow suit!
There was never a title that confusing (but the description solved)
Edit: can we take a sec to appreciate those stunning pictures
Fine analysis, great photos, and wow, that studio lighting, framing and background... and audio.
It left me wanting to see more, which I will!
You are too kind! Glad you enjoyed it. Lots of even cooler stuff to come!
The quality of your production and content are outstanding! Well done. *Subscribed*
Thanks for the sub!! Welcome!
The best thing about this camera is how closely it can look like film, especially in b&w. ISO 1600 looks just like tri-x film grain, this is the only digital I have left and gets used if I can't shoot film for some reason. It's really the only digital camera that mimics film grain
This is everything I want in a camera review/tech review video! Beautifully shot. Examples from a real photographer. Amazing video. Thank you
Just picked one of these up the other day on ebay for $250... I'm excited.
Thanks for the great video
Got mine in 2011 and its not going anywhere, have shot thousands of images with it, been through UK, Cambodia as a travel camera. I love the files. I use a 5DIII and 7DII for other stuff but my X100 is still kind of my favourite, the colours and the way the files render are beautiful
Your photos are really good. I love the X100 series. I own a X100F but the original one has something special!
It's definitely a flawed camera, but it is still capable of making some amazing images :)
I would be very interested in testing this! I might just do it since my friend has the F
@@GxAce please do and report back so I know I ain't crazy haha (even though I'm betting it's just settings I've not matched as well)
I think I remember reading that the sensor type changed after the x100...
I'm still using my original x100 in 2020!
Although, the aperture blades stick sometimes at f8 or smaller. But still many times I will choose this cam over my Sony or Leica because it's so lightweight and damn it renders shadows nicely!
just got mine yesterday in mint condition(350€). i instantly fall in love with the camera. it's pure magic. if you find one don't think a lot .. buy it!
Great find! Find it online or in person?
GxAce in person here in Athens!
What are the common fail parts? thanks.
2022 and mine is still rolling.
Such a fun camera line :) Thanks for the kind words! I have some big plans for this setup hahah
Awesome video, well done! I still carry my x100 everywhere i go, every day, since 2013-ish... 9/10 would recommend :P
Great shots, beautiful video! I might not be getting a X100 but this makes we wanna hug my X-Pro1 + 23mm f2 combo.
HUG IT! I want to pick up one of those so badly.
I fell in love with the x100 a few hours ago (yes i have been swallowed by the internet) and this video made me fall more! really loved it
Do you make your videos from the cockpit of a Tie Fighter? Serious question.
“Jason from GrainyDays Wears a Disguise and Shoots Digital”
Amazing video quality
Just saw your Peripheral short film... amazing job, congratulations!
I've been thinking about selling mine. I've been using it as my go everywhere camera (weddings, events, concerts, street, lunch) and replacing it with the x100f. But I think im going to challenge myself now to get the most out of it till its dead.
You answered my question! Looking for a walk around camera and this is it. Also, your video is refreshing and fantastic.
And now it's $715 on mpb... Sigh.
I really love your works shot from ur X100. It's really inspiring
:D
