    I'm in the UK and my energy supplier is Octopus. They provide an RFID card and app which work with most of the charging networks in Northern Europe.
    It also has route planning so Android Auto deals with the route planning issue.
    I'll admit though, that it would be better if the Enyaq software did it.

    Here in the UK we have reminder speed limit of 40mph for lorries, the road is 60mph for cars. Also, we have speed limit countdown signs prior to entering a village and you brake very early. It's a problem that needs to be addressed.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you about the first 3 points. I haven’t experienced the other issues.
    I really love my 80 premium but the software is a stick in the wheel for sure.
    Thank you for taking your time to make the video. I hope you and your family enjoyed your vacation in Denmark :)

    Totally agree with your points about the route planning. It should be possible to select ionity, powerpass selected partners or even more in the planning. You can do filter this in the powerpass app in the infotainment and it works, but there you can’t do route planning, you can find chargers and send location to the navigation. But shouldn’t be that hard to integrate this in the charge planning. Come on Cariad. It shouldn’t be necessary to use other route planners via CarPlay/android auto. Really hope this get’s improved in a OTA update (have 4.0 now 😊)

    I have the same issue with sign recognition. Once, while driving in the city(with ACC on) where the speed limit was 40, my Enyaq picked up a 120 sign from somewhere and tried to adapt to it just a few meters before a speed camera. Also, I hate that the GPS module crashes so often and gives you a "visit workshop" icon. Sometimes, I'm unable to connect to superchargers and have to find a good angle, otherwise, the adapter does not connect. Lastly, the sound insulation is just bad.

    I have an 2021 ID.4, and those "fantom brakes" are really annoying and unsafe. We now have a new road in Latvia, a highway, where you are allowed to drive 120. But the ID is constantly catching fantom signs that do not exist anymore for a year already! This drives me nuts. Why to call a feature "A road sign assist" if the xar don't even watch at that sign, but takes those values from a map! You can pass a sign 120, but the car will show you 90. 🤷

    I've got that tailgate hatch thing on my 85x too. Luckily it happened first time when I picked it up, so the salesman showd me and I didn't spend hours trying to understand the issue (but still annoying, have to do a simple modification there).
    How do you find the navigation in general? My issue is that it interprets minor roadwork sites on the highway as a "closed road", and proposes huge detours of up to ~100 km (when in reality there are no roadworks, or a minor detour). And no way to ignore that "closure", so I can still use the navigation. The vendor said those things would get corrected within the first month of owning, but I still experience them.

    • @electrifiedspeicher
      @electrifiedspeicher  3 місяці тому

      We experienced that issue as well on our return from Denmark. Sometimes the navigation thinks a road is closed but there is no closure just roadworks or as you already wrote simple and short detour. It's not getting corrected that fast. So to sum it up: Navigation is good and working but map data is sometimes outdated or even wrong and that is still an issue that's pretty annoying.

    Knowing what you know now about the Skoda… would you advise me to buy the Audi Etron Sportback or the fully decked out Enyaq RS?!
    Software on the Skoda looks good now but is the company behind it reliable enough??
    Would love your insight on this!

    • @electrifiedspeicher
      @electrifiedspeicher  2 місяці тому +1

      Tough choice if you got a good deal on the Audi because they have way more influence on the software and more autonomy. If not you are much better off with the ENYAQ RS because you get way more 'hardware'. Skoda is a solid and reliable company within the VW Group (as it belongs to a 100% to them) but they do not have that much autonomy when it comes to software so they depend heavily on VW.
      I would even say Skoda would do more for the customer but is held back from VW in those matters. In the end I would do a real good test of the software in the ENYAQ (critical functions you would love to use in every day life like charge planning or assistant systems) and if this in its current state looks appealing to you the ENYAQ is a good choice. If not you might go with the Audi (doing the same check).

    • @bjrnchrstn
      @bjrnchrstn 2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks man, really appreciated. Audi has a deal now on the Quattro (awd) series. This makes them interesting but I do hear/read some comments about their software not being great and updates not coming (hasn’t been one for over a year?).
      Skoda was never really an option because I just hated the software on the VWs (tested an ID and an Ebuzz). It was slow, non-intuitive and basically just horrible. Your videos made me reconsider.
      Currently I drive a Tesla M3 (2019) and I realize that in software I have been spoiled because it’s really good. I don’t want to buy a model Y because I kinda had enough of Musk and his antics and I prefer not to indirectly support Trump 😅.
      Next friday I get to try out the Skoda. Next week the Audi. Ill let you know what my experience was.

    Agree with everything here - the charge planning is useless. I did a road trip through the Netherlands/Belgium/France in June and ended up disabling it and just using the Chargemap app to pick out my next stop and enter it manually into the car’s navigation. Chargemap has a feature to filter by chargers in motorway service stations which I found very useful on a long trip…any chance Skoda ??

    Right now my 85x is connected. I was charging to 80% a couple of hours ago. The Skoda apps says it's no longer connected, but the Skoda API (through home assistant) says it's plugged in.

    • @electrifiedspeicher
      @electrifiedspeicher  3 місяці тому

      As of now I would say the App is in a very bad state and we even had better times with it before. Data is displayed wrong or with lots of delay and it seems not to be an issue of the API

    My 2017 B8 Passat had an interior monitoring override switch at the side of the driver seat. so strange this isn't included in Skoda's list of features to include in the Enyaq.

  • @RicoD5
    @RicoD5 3 місяці тому +1

    So Charge planning and Travel assist are still bad in ME4.0. On longer journeys I always use the ABRP app, mostly because I can select the Providers I prefer and which to avoid. It also takes driving uphill and downhill into account when planning the stops and it does that pretty accurately. Just like the availability of chargers at a certain location.
    Travel assist is always off in my Enyaq because it is outright dangerous! Exactly because of the reasons you mentioned. I also experienced dangerous braking, driving 100+ while passing a 50 sign on a parallel road. You shit your pants when that happens the first time.
    Bottom line is that Cariad still has a lot of work to do…. And they always will 😒

      @@electrifiedspeicher it's very odd because not all owners have these issues. I run the UK and Ireland enyaq group on Facebook and every time the lane assist discussion comes up it divides opinion. Some have terrible problems, others none at all. I'm on my 2nd enyaq and zero issues with lane assist. My rough assumption had been that travel assist cars seem to have no issues but your car has it so that's just destroyed my theory. 🤷🤔

    • @RicoD5
      @RicoD5 2 місяці тому +1

      @@enyaq_gormLane Assist works fine for me, but not for my Son who switches it off as soon as he starts driving. So there are two opinions. As said: Travel assist is switched off in my car, but I do notice that recognition of Road signs works well in one country (especially Germany), less ok in the Netherlands and a lot worse in for instance Italy. Guess it has something to do with size and font.

    I've disabled the automatic speed adjustment in my Enyaq since the beginning (ME v2.x, two years ago). The map data has been, and apparently still is, unreliable. I don't want those sudden automatic braking or speed-ups.

      Map based data will always be unreliable. Unfortunately the maps, by definition, follow the changes in the Real Life and there always be places when the limits changed.
      The best solution is to adjust only the ACC speed when the limit increases, but only prompt the user about changed speed limit when it goes down.

    speed signs... lane keep assist... yes.. the worst is when it says it is a 100kph zone and no, it's a 50kph zone outside a school! Oh and last week the previous Enyaq caused a crash for me. A cyclist stopped with his front wheel just over the kerb as I was moving away from lights. The Enyaq did an emergency stop even though the cyclist was stationary. The car behind me was also accelerating, he stopped as he touched my bumper. I think I am getting to the point where a Carly and a reprogramme is going to be on my list to do!

      There have been issues reported with other makes using adaptive cruise control when they get the speed wrong.
      Personally, I'd never use it in any car. It's dangerous. I've been in a BMW some years ago when the car was reporting a speed limit of 70mph when the actual limit was 30.
      The limits must rely on a combination of GPS and some sort of database. If either is inaccurate for some reason, you have a problem. A minor one if you are in control of the speed, a potentially lethal one if the car is on charge....

      Never had it in my vw transporter, my last enyaq or my current enyaq or my wife's golf not even my 2017 Nissan leaf. My tesla did full emergency stops when it saw bridge shadows on the motorway or shadows from trucks. @@timofthomas

      @@enyaq_gorm I've had it in Vauxhall Astra, Vauxhall Insignia, Volvo V60 new shape, Mercedes A class, MG4, and now the 2022 iV80, all have done it, all have also tried to throw me in a hedge on country lanes mistaking water in shallow tarmac ruts for the white line, steered me away from the verge into the path of an oncoming car and then drop it in my lap to fix. These systems are dangerous, no matter the car. By trying to pander to the lowest common denominator of driver they make it less safe because almost everyone will end up turning all these safety aids firmly off.

    I have a road on my way to work where there is a 70 zone where my Enayq sometimes decide it is a 50 zone this have more than once almost caused an accident. And there is several other in the area i live in where the car have no clue of the correct speed and even on the Motorway/highway it has issues. Software is 3.7 in a IV60 form 2021. The Map provider need to do a lot better if Skoda want to use the data in this way.
