    Totally agree with all of this. Just swapped my 2021 Enyaq 60 for an 85 Edition Coupe today! For me it was the pre heating as in Scottish winter weather the old one struggled with rapid charging. I will miss the HUD which I had on my old car though. The new one (6 months old actually) doesn't have it sadly but it was a good deal I was offered.

    Similar experiences on consumption with Enyaq 85x L&K. I had trip of 693km, half on highway (mostly 100km/h but some parts 80km/h) and other half on motorway (120km/h), average speed 87km/h AMD average consumption was 18,9kWh/100km. Have say that compared to my previous vehicle, ID.3 1st Max 58kWh, the effiency of the new motor & software is remarkable.

    I have a question that no dealership in the UK has been able to answer, nor have I been able to find out on any Skoda or forum page. The Skoda Enyaq 85x Sportline and the Skoda Enyaq 85x RS have the same hardware, battery & motors. (As far as I can find anyways) yet the RS is faster and has more BHP. Is this achieved through software or is there additional hardware to give it higher BHP, more power, and faster 0-60 time?? The other thing I wondered is, have you felt that there is a bit of lag with acceleration off the line? As I know it's a quick car, and I'm in no way complaining. I just feel that it has a little bit of lag. I was looking at a pedal controller, or throttle controller, pedal commander type of thing. Will they work with EVs or have you any other suggestions. Great work and I enjoy you content. Thanks for making them

    I now have 3.7 and it turns out to be a mistake. Off-peak scheduling from intelligent octopus via my Myenergi Zappi charger no longer works. When charging from my solar panel excess, the car randomly stops the charging and only restarts when I unlock an relock the car. My advice to everyone with ME3.0 is DON'T UPDATE until Skoda have fixed the problem. While this might affect you if you only charge from the grid during the day, there may still be other serious charging issues. I'll add that other owners are experiencing the same issues.

I don’t know when they started, but around 9 o clock they sent me a video showing the car all hooked up with cables and the mechanic simply explaining that they were working on it. I picked it up in the evening and I’m very happy with the few improvements I have noticed until now, which are all regarding the screen above the steering wheel and the heads-up display. Sorry to hear about some of you guys that are experiencing problems upgrading. Cheers.

    Hello Matthias, Nice to see the proper charging performance and the effect of pre-heating. However, I think charging performance is still not really up to the current level set by the market. My 2022 Enyaq iV60 reaches 130kW charging power when the battery is above 20 degrees and below 10% SOC. The power starts dropping after a few minutes in an almost linear line. In my opinion, charging for trucks should be solved the same way as is done with gas stations. Trucks should have separate charging stations where they fit and with ultra high performance chargers. In my area there is a large one that is optimized for trucks. Lots of room and many HPC’s. Cars have their own separate HPC area there. As it is now your ‘neighbor’ had no option but to block that spot. Fastned locations are somewhat rare outside the Netherlands, but often have a layout suitable for trucks to charge. I almost never see that with other operators. Good for cars, but bad luck for truckers.

    There is a FastNed charging station in the north of England that has days where all 8 chargers are occupied with DPD vans. It's super inconvenient but there needs to be batter charging infrastructure that caters for vans and, in the future, HGVs! Not sure if DPD are going to install slow chargers for overnight charging at their depots but I'm pretty sure they should!! A UK telecoms fleet (Openreach) with 30000 vehicles will be converting to Electric vans... this is going to add strain on the charging infrastructure too. I think the figure is something like 30-40% of those vehicles will need to use on the go chargers and the rest will be home charged. At my work we need to replace our diesel van to electric but we sometimes use a trailer... Where to charge? Most chargers are car only spaces! People towing caravans too!! It's all a bit of a headache but hopefully solutions will be figured out! Thanks for the Video!

      Dear Matthias, thanks again for this interesting video. I am driving first generation iV80 (2021) with ME3.0. Already driving with my tent trailer in summer from Netherlands to Austria for few years. Fastned is known for their trailer friendly chargers (not all but most if them). Length is not so long as a truck so usually possible to charge without inhooking. Most of the time I use Tesla where there so many chargers that parking rectangular and blocking 3 chargers is not an issue. I was wondering whether MY2024 has additional hardware for pre-heating the battery or this is just software. Preheating would be very helpful for the wintertime trips to Austria for skiing. Especially the first charge is always annoying due to low temperature of the battery. I am visiting dealer next week to update to 3.7 (noted no preheating as well).

    • @RicoD5
      @RicoD5 13 днів тому

      @@ElizeVeldman2013The Enyaqs before MY24 will roughly have the same pre-heating hardware and it works. Problem that it is only activated (controlled by the software) to heat up the battery when temperatures are below zero. I have a 2022 Enyaq and my car scanner shows the PTC and the pump are activated when I charge the car when it is freezing. It stops when the battery reaches a temperature above zero. But it will never heat up the battery above 20 degrees to improve charging performance. Indeed 3.7 won’t fix that but who knows, if miracles do happen…..😉

      The UK indeed needs many more chargers. Last year we drove from Hull to Scotland for our holiday and already in northern England we had to make good preparations on where to charge. Scotland is even worse. In the Netherlands and Germany I don’t have to plan where to charge. There is always an HPC nearby.

    Hi, I am not an Enyaq owner yet, but hope to be very soon! (85 to be delivered in Sept 24) I like your movies Matthias and watched a lot of them in preparation of my own Enyaq. As I received a lot of information from your movies it is time to give something back. I hope I could provide you some answers on the SoC drop when starting charging, and the 100% charge, despite 80% charging settings. Below maybe some answers based on ChatGPT and google search: The State of Charge (SoC) of electric vehicle (EV) batteries sometimes appears to decrease immediately after plugging in the charger due to a phenomenon called "voltage settling" or "voltage relaxation." Here's a detailed explanation of why this happens: Voltage Settling: When an EV is in use or has recently been driven, the battery is under load, causing its voltage to be higher due to the current draw. When the vehicle is turned off and the charger is plugged in, the load is removed, and the battery's voltage starts to settle to its true resting state. This settling process can result in a slight drop in the displayed SoC. Battery Management System (BMS) Calibration: The BMS constantly monitors the battery's state and recalibrates its readings to ensure accuracy. When you plug in the charger, the BMS may take a moment to update and provide a more accurate SoC reading, which could show a slight drop. It could be that the BMS system is also responsible for the charging to 100% although you have set charging limit to 80%. Once in a while the BMS will cause to charge to 100% to re-calibrate itself and correctly read the SoC. If you have constantly this 100% charging, then it could be a software bug, or it could be also an overriding of the car's charging settings by the settings of the (home) charging station. Some public or home chargers have their own settings that could conflict with the vehicle's preferences. Temperature Effects: Battery voltage and SoC readings are affected by temperature. When the battery starts charging, it may initially heat up or cool down slightly, causing minor fluctuations in voltage and, consequently, SoC. Load Transitions: Transitioning from a driving mode to a charging mode involves different electrical loads and conditions. The initial phase of charging may include a pre-charge phase where the charger checks the battery's condition and prepares it for the main charging process. This transition can momentarily affect the SoC reading. Measurement Accuracy: SoC is estimated based on voltage, current, and temperature readings, along with complex algorithms. Slight inaccuracies in these measurements or their immediate adjustment when switching to charging mode can cause temporary changes in the displayed SoC. Overall, the drop in SoC right after plugging in the charger is typically small and temporary, reflecting the battery's transition from a dynamic state (during use) to a resting state (during charging). This is a normal behavior and is managed by the vehicle's BMS to ensure accurate monitoring and efficient charging.

    Maybe SOC changes when battery pack gets much colder/warmer? Stellantis EVs show less energy in CarScanner when battery gets cold next morning (while SOC remains the same). Also you might want to check the Cell Voltage Delta mV, for any faulty cells.

  • @marcohillenga5068
    @marcohillenga5068 20 днів тому

    To me it looks mostly like a software/communication issue. The problem lies mostly in the GOM calculation part. The same can be said about battery care mode. I also have this when I charge with ‘Charging locations’. I can set a timer with specified SOC, but it won’t work, it just charges to whatever it likes. 😂 GOM is always a guess for the BMS, but I think this will be fixed by a Over-The-Autohaus update. The car won’t overcharge, it always stops charging at a certain Cut-off Voltage.

      No trim needs to be removed. Did a video on OBD a while ago on my German channel. Will do a new one in English. OBD port is on the left side of the steering wheel (left driver) and mirrored when right driver down where the pedals are directly under the cockpit. Cannot miss it because it's shiny purple :) Adapter is linked in the description

    We got the 50 min update on the release day last Thursday 23rd May 2024. It was preceded by a very short one a day or two beforehand. We shall see when the 3.7 update comes. (Car came with 3.2)

      The 50 min update is a prep. update for bringing 3.7 OTA and should help make your ENYAQ more "updateable"...I don't got any details from Skoda what they actually do there :(

      @electrifiedspeicher Well.. today the charging screen came up 'charge to 0%' out of the blue (I had it at 80!) Also the MySkoda app has stopped showing if my car is locked or unlocked and is demanding I activate it by a paid service...but there IS no service for this previously free feature (car registered February 2023) so either they broke something or they are messing with the firmware and app! Oh and the map screen in the app (these are phone apps I am talking about) is now also saying it is a paid for feature. This is ridiculous given the far better free apps there are out there! Also.. when you click into the activate button, there isn't even an option to pay for these functions?? P.S., in the car it says everything is subscribed until February 2026 <confusedface>

      And now the app is working again....no changes from me.

    is there a change in the charging loss percentage. kwh delivered from the charger vs. kwh added to the battery, when this happens, and when i doesn't (or you charge to 100%

    Have an 85 -24 with the same issue that the charge limit sometimes is set to 100%, despite battery care mode. But I haven't noticed any overcharging...yet.

      All lithium batteries need to be charged to 100% once per month to allow for maximum performance. If not done, performance will go down and wear will increase. After this 100% charging, performance will be restored.

    The times my car changed the charging limit to 100% by itself was after using the app. I think 2 times it was after starting cabin preheating via the app but it could be a coincidence

      You plug in OBD and use Torque. It's not ICE science to set up a monitoring environment for a car on your phone. Well unless you like a walled off garden that's walls are starting to fall like the Berlin Wall.

    Very strange behavior Matthias🤔 Since the Carscanner app (pro version) saves the data while recording, that could give some more clues about what is happening at the Cell level and other parameters of the battery and the BMS. I don’t know what exact BMS value (name) is displayed on the Infotainment display, but that might also be helpful information. The fact that it’s different from what you showed is strange also. Looks like a different parameter. If I remember correctly you also did some analysis using an export to Excel in a previous video on the OBD adapter and the App? Maybe that will give some clarity since you can plot multiple parameters of a charging session in one graph.
