Hearing genuine laughter from the game's humor really brought a smile to my face. I wasn't expecting the writing to be this sharp in a beat-em up.
This gives me major Rise of the TMNT vibes, and yes Matt, we know you have a dream of turning into a Street Shatk, I believe in you!
As somebody who has never played Battletoads, but always appreciated the artwork and the legacy they left this actually makes me interested in playing. The writing here is surprisingly sharp. It's crazy that production value went video games can basically equate to a well-funded adult swim cartoon lol

I just finished the game, and it really surprised me.
The bobsled stage made me laugh all the way through. Even when I died...
Even Nuts & Bolts, for how bad of a reception it got, knew to use the Battletoads pause music
i mean it was used for a loading screen (it was quieter and less beat-y) and n&b didn't deserve the backlash.
Yo after watching this video, I'd be completely down for a whole cartoon about the Battletoads in this style 🤣

Never played battletoads but I do respect its legacy, this game’s writing is hilarious and really intriguing, I was genuinely interested in what’s going to happen in this Saturday cartoon feel story.

I remember playing the original battle toads arcade at circus circus hotel and casino. And was hooked, saw it on the NES as a kid and thought 💭’hey, this ain’t battle toads!’ Gotta check out this reboot, thanks for sharing that Matt!

The only thing I didn't like in this game is the fact that some levels are a bit too long. Other than that, it's awesome!
My sons and I had a blast playing this game when the pandemic was at its worst. I worked from home and heard them from lunch until I got off screaming with laughter. I got the 3rd controller and was met with Toad Chambeau. The snow sledding level had my sides hurting I was laughing so hard.
The Dark Queen has some of the funniest bits in the game.

Sky shark & Battletoads are the only 2 games from childhood i couldn't complete. Gotta admit, it's nice to see this game. Reminds me of Double Dragon Neon

I don't care what anybody says. This game I enjoyed, even though I couldn't get passed the final part of Act III of the shooting level. My friend and I played through this game as well.
I think it’s clearer than swamp water to tell we toadally want more Battletoads gameplay.

I'm really enjoying my time with Battletoads but Im conflicted between playing it in Med difficulty and enjoying the story or keep playing (alone) in Battletoad difficulty and getting stuck on a level for days.
Loved this new Battletoads, really hope we get a second one out from this.

I honestly don't get what the complaints are. I beat this a few days ago and I thought it was awesome (the 2D platformer levels suck though).
Got stuck on space ship mini games.
Whenever games or whatever go for this kind of adult swim artstyle, it flops 99% of the time imo. But dunno man.... This really works for me. I'm thinking the devs were secretly geniuses combining Battletoads and this style. That, despite pretty much everyone online hating on the artstyle before launch : D
Kinda makes me want a new Earthworm Jim game by these devs.

I honestly think this is the best style to go for for the battletoads. The ultra realistic aesthetic would only work as a cameo, it'd probably get tiring for a whole game. The animation here is so pleasing to the eye

Eh. This plays better than any other Battletoads game I can think of. There's actual meat and nuance to the combat.

the puzzle levels just killed it...the racing levels and the platform ones are kinda cool but the puzzle ones were awful...they were easy but too much long...
Pretty sure the game lets you skip the puzzles.
@@MattMcMuscles the ones that I'm talking about are treated as levels the only way I can skip them is through level select. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just think that the game could be a hell of a lot better. There is variation but no intercalation. The original ones had a good intercalation between the beat'em up stages. This one the parts were a chore to complete in the beginning I was pumped up by the end I just wanted it to end.

I'm surprised at how funny this game is, I mean seriously, there are a lot of good jokes here, it's pretty impressive. Still not too big on this sort of artstyle, but the game is actually pretty cool.
Battletoads 2020= wayfoward outsourced to their C team. Recently played DD neon; don't wanna play this.....
If it weren't for your playthrough, I would have no interest in this game. I loved the original, the arcade, and the SNES releases. Then I saw the art style and a few clips of gameplay and I wrote it off... Looked like a cartoon network show turned into a game and I was just completely put off. But then I watched this and ...yeah, I guess I'm gonna go buy it now
Despite the haters, the only negative about this game is that Earthworm Jim isn't allowed to be in this universe.

The original Battletoads: Awesome first level. Great second level. Then... the fucking Turbo Tunnel speedbike race. 75% of gamers never got past it. That game was such a waste when you think about it. Great art style, animations, gameplay and controls...ruined by insane difficulty after just 2 levels. I owned the game so I could beat the race, but then I was blocked again at the Snake Pit.
Honestly ever since the trailer I was not sure about this. But this changed my mind. It turns out that this game is actually really charming, funny, and cool in a lot of ways.
Oh my god I'm so excited to see you played this. My experience with the older Battletoads is extremely limited, I somehow missed it when I was a kid. But I just played through this new one (twice now), and I fucking love it SO MUCH. Huge surprise for me, and it's one of my favorite games of the year now. It's just _fun_.
This game would have been better received if it wasn't a Battletoads game.
