I love watching these videos. I haven't watched any since September. I had to sell my model collection. I want to get back into this hobby. I have to start over and buy everything all over again. I had alot of nice models, I miss them.
Neat kit! i think it's a smart play from Academy to market kits that can appeal to the broadest spectrum of modelers. MCP allows the person who doesn't have the full complement of painting/finishing tech to still enjoy putting something together and still resemble the real thing.
Thanks for the vid and heads-up on the kit. Now I hope they make decals for when it was at Mountain Home AFB. It would round out my Gunfighter Collection nicely.
Awesome video - thanks! For kitbashers, that first sprue you showed (the fuselage) might make a very good foundation for a "2001: A Space Odyssey" Orion clipper variant.
Got to see the B-1 B up close after 9/11 in Diego Garcia B.I.O.T. I was with a P-3 squadron. They moved so equipment out to make room for it in our hangar. She's a big bird!
@@TheSaturnV I am 53 how old are you? I really wanted it. It was for sale at Wheaton Plaza back then at the hobby shop (maryland same mall the lyons sisters who were my age disappeared from ) . They had a built model on display. The smartest thing I did was buy a German Helmet off of them for just under $20. I couldn't get both. I wanted to get it all but I was in fifth or sixth grade.
Recently announced in Japan, Doyusha Models will be releasing their 1/144 version of the B-1B Lancer. The model was designed using AutoCAD 3D software. Revell Models has announced they will be releasing their certified MONSTER of an aircraft, the B-1B Lancer in 1/48 scale!!! The model will come with a photo-etched detail set, make room on your shelves boys this plane is a monster!!
Do you use lacquer or varnish for clear to seal the acrylic paint before decals? Just getting back into modeling and all these new paint types are confusing. Thanks.
I like to fit the nose cone on later once I know how it will balance. That allows me to weight the cone which, being the most forward part, will require the least amount of weight
Hi Andy. Love the channel. I’ve learned so much. I now have enough Tamiya paint bottles that it’s time for a storage rack. Do you recommend a rack that stores them upright or on the side? Keep up the good work.
Love the channel, ive been out of the game for a while and its great to see a channel dedicated to models. I am wondering what your take is on testors enamel paints, I have many of them and noticed you only seem to use Tamiya
Dear Andy thank you for a fantastic channel, a few years ago I suffer a brain hemorrhage and it also affected my hands. I find it almost impossible to grip tweezers or small model parts. What are the biggest scale models you deal with, but are easy to build, without too many sprue's.
Oops, just remembered Revell and Italeri are great for low number of small parts and they both do ships, military vehicles, civilian vehicles and planes. The models are simpler and lower accuracy (tank tools moulded on to hull in the case of older models) etc but still nice enough models. I'm guessing but ships probably have the highest amount of small parts. Do not pay the newer higher full prices they are only worth $25 or less for a standard 1/35 tank, shop around their should be some bargains out there.
Hey Andy, a few questions &comments. Did you detail the cockpit up? As far as I know, the kit has a cockpit decal and it looks great on such small scale aircraft. Also I was wondering opening bomb bay might be a good option since it has JDAMs and other different bombs. But of course, this is just my personal preference. Also, what weight did you use for this aircraft? Thank you!
Would you say that good old Panda B-1B turned into pumpkin now (I have one a stash that was thinking to build later this year along with Minicraft's B-1A on which I plan to do a lot of scribing to add more details)? Or it is still decent compare to new Academy?
hi Andy, not to do with the video but please could you do a video on sandbag armour for the sherman i saw your video on the academy 1/35 sherman with the resin sandbag front and the m10 with the putty sandbags but i cant seem to find any videos of much help anywhere explaining how to do the iron framework that you sometimes see. thanks, Joe
Was the wing pivot piece designed to be added without the wings attached so the wings could be slid on at then end of assembly? Really reminds me of the Tamiya F-14 with its spars. I’ve been waiting for this! 1/144 is my scale of choice for big planes like airliners and modern bombers. I’ll be building mine on a stick, in flight. The one thing that disappointed me is the engine nozzles. They took the usual shortcut of molding them in one piece, when the real things are quite complex.
It has large-span single-slotted trailing-edge flaps as well as full-span leading-edge slats & four spoilers on the top of each wing. Too complex for a low cost 1/144 scale kit - it would have needed the wing in two halves & lots of extra parts - say 50% increase in parts
suggestion, please use a microphone on your intros. I have to crank the volume up to hear you. also, you wont have to yell so loud. you'd be able to talk normally.
Yea it is a big plane but for the life of me I will never understand what enjoyment anyone gets out of building what can only be described as a totally lame model with very little detail and virtually nothing that is even remotely WoW worthy!
New Academy kits are really Nice, cant say enough about them. So jealous you get all these kits. Looks great,
Now they need to do one in 1/72!
@The Rockall TimesI would agree, but imagine those that built the old revell 1/48 scale one!
Amazing kit, amazing fit, and amazing build
Thanks, Andy.

An idea cribbed from the Bandai Gundam kits, that tech has been around a while.
@@richarddouglas688 Ha! didn't know that. I've never built a Gundam kit before. Another example of the sincerest form of flattery then :)
Wow that kit fits together perfectly
Looking forward in getting this kit after seeing the review, "Thanks" for sharing this with us.
Woooow is Beautiful!!!
Outstanding job and video !!!!!!
I don't think I've ever seen you use primer before, but I could be wrong...
The fit on some of these new kits is really amazing.
Nice, I built a couple of the old 1/48th kits, they were HUGE.
Es un kit en apariencia sencillo... Pero la experiencia nos hace pensar eso... Gracias por estar siempre con nosotros Andy...
Finally!! Ive been searching for a good Bone kit. Supported them on deployment. Hell of an aircraft.
Nice build Andy!!!!
i didn't know that Academy is releasing B1 Bomber, and it's brand new! i can't wait to see it.
Thank you for your good info.
Thanks for the vid and heads-up on the kit. Now I hope they make decals for when it was at Mountain Home AFB. It would round out my Gunfighter Collection nicely.
Nice little build .... hope all is going well for you ....
Another great build Andy.
Talk about excellent fit. Looks seamless in its finished state. Tight tolerances and slide moulding is the future.
Awesome video - thanks!

Really nice plane I would give the finish a 10/10
Thanks for sharing Andy, nice looking Bomber, great review and build!...Bill
Hi Andy, thanks for showing these nice new academy kit ... really good engineering on this kit by academy ... greetings Make*
Great work very impressive
Neat.1/144 is a good scale for larger aircraft. I remember building Airfix airliner models years ago.
This looks like a fun build so far .....
Lovely build

How's the store expansion coming along hope it is going well for you
I typically stick to 1/48 and sometimes 1/72 for planes but this kit looks so nice I may have to get it.
There was a 1:16 scale Tiger I Tamiya with full interior that I always wanted as a kid in 1975 to 1977 that I never had the twenty bucks to buy!
Tamiya didn't have a 1:16 Tiger I in the 1970's. You are probably thinking of the 1:25 Tiger I Tamiya had, and it had a rudimentary interior.

Great video!
Nice build
Now they need to do this kit in 1/48 with the same great molding and more detail.

Hey Andy you forgot the word forget in your final little bit of the video. "Don't to check out..." Hopefully you see this lol, love the channel!
Peace Brother and Thank U ✌🇺🇸✌✌

I ordered this kit f I’m my local hobby store. But they don’t know when it will be released. Anyone know?
Hi Andy. Love the channel. I’ve learned so much. I now have enough Tamiya paint bottles that it’s time for a storage rack. Do you recommend a rack that stores them upright or on the side? Keep up the good work.
First time to see you use Tamiya primer

Sorry to hear that, good luck with your modelling, best wishes.
Try 1/35 tanks from tamiya they dont have many small parts

What about, is it Bandai that is snap together, check out Andy’s ‘Millenium Falcon’ build and ‘Tie Fighter’ too.
Good luck with your recovery.
What flat cost do you use? Also are u putting on a gloss before decals? U never have silvering on yours

Does it come with a stand to display in-flight?
What aircraft specific marking does it come with? I will buy, but was wandering if I would have to hunt down spirit of abilene marking
Hi Andy, another great kit finished, with such a 'small scale ' how's your eyesight?
What is the clear coat that you use?
Testors dullcoat or Tamiya ts 80
You are so right. I have been right next to and under one of these at Dyess AFB. They are monsters. Jimmy Carter tried to kill the program.
sorry for my ignorance, but why Jimmy Carter tried to kill the program...?
@@yjoon92 too expensive. he wanted to use that money to drop to his pals.
Lol. I live in abilene, with dyess afb. Never get tired of seeing them fly around town.
Second comment ,they also do a great job with the sprue lettering. Super easy to see and find the right sprue

Did they happen to give you a price point for this kit?
I made a Uss Cvn 68 Nimitz
Oh I live in S.Korea I wanna make that kit
Sorry but I’m js skipping through to see how you get finish product did you paint it?
Is this the same as the revell one?
no all new tooling
Winglets? = canards..lol..great vid, keep`em coming Andy!
seen that plane just over my head at failand airshow extreamly loud
The B1-B has no ailerons but no moving flaps or edges ?
It has large-span single-slotted trailing-edge flaps as well as full-span leading-edge slats & four spoilers on the top of each wing. Too complex for a low cost 1/144 scale kit - it would have needed the wing in two halves & lots of extra parts - say 50% increase in parts
You should do a kv2 next
Hi Andy could you maybe do a review of the Airfix: one small step for man moon lander kit
Plenty of room for more, with 144 😉
The Bone...
hi andy. pls show us how to do digital cammo on a hobby boss commando. thanks
When is this kit coming out it was the aircraft I guarded in my AF career
Don't you ever build sci-fi kits like the 22" Eagle Transporter or the Zvezda Imperial Star Destroyer?
you should build the trumpeter 1/16 T-34/85 or T-34/76
Andy great video, I would like you to go and check ScaleModelAircraft´s video on this same built so u can compare both Cheers!
Could you build a ju 87 Stuka b-1 or b-2
Rome here
Love Rome hi
Duck Man hello son
Nice build! Looks like it needs a little weight in the nose.
And what's the price of this 1/144 kit?...
More 1/144
I need a kit
so that merkava mk.4M
Build b17
Hey Andy have you done ah Bradley fighting vehicle
I think you forgot a word in the text at the end of your video, but I can't put my finger on it. ;-P
Can you do a model of a f-17 light tank from WWI
Can u please do t26 video whit snow camo?
suggestion, please use a microphone on your intros. I have to crank the volume up to hear you. also, you wont have to yell so loud. you'd be able to talk normally.
decals printed by academy is the shittest decal I ever seen.
1st impressions: Looks like the most boring model I've ever seen.....Not to many external things to look at...
Yea it is a big plane but for the life of me I will never understand what enjoyment anyone gets out of building what can only be described as a totally lame model with very little detail and virtually nothing that is even remotely WoW worthy!
Perhaps a person just getting into modeling would find this to be a great starter kit.
You mean to tell me you can’t swing wing that oh my God it’s not even worth buying
