I live in Houston an been displaced due to flooding, but seeing you pop up on my feed just made me happy for the first time in the last few days, thanks andy!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you built the ZARA. I myself have been building model ships for over 50 years now. Both Military and full rigged sailing ships. Respectfully, Richard Alden
Great build, the ZARA came out a bit of masterpiece. Very realistic. Verity is the spice of life. I'm interested in what ever kit you build. I learn a lot from each build.
Hi Andy,Thanks for your video's Andy. I've been modelling for a long time but my skills have improved dramatically thanks to your techniques. I'm trying photo etch for the first time after this!
Very nice job ... i can not wait now to get my hands on HMS Belfast finally, same size and brand as this Zara. Looks quite large actually, the paint job of wooden deck and those litle rusty marks here and there gave the model a pinch of spirit. Very inspiring and informative for me. Thank you
Many American seamen agreed with you Monk, some would comment that they wished that the U.S. ships had glass bottoms, so that they could get a better view the Italian Navy!
Hey nice to see that you painted those photo etched parts unlike some people because I have never seen gold colored railings or ladders in a real warship.
Good Job Andy! I'm happy to see you do something other than AFV's. I'm just now getting comfortable working with photo-etch, and I have a ship model thatI purchased quite a while ago. Maybe now I'll build it. Hope you continue to diversify and challenge/educate your subscribers with other ships, planes, et al.
Found your channel a few months ago and it helped me put together a Tiger I model that I wanted to do for World of Tanks. Glad to see a ship finally because I have had my eyes set on the Tamiya premium Yamato 1/350 kit but I couldn't find another youtuber who does vids in the style you do.
Andy! Great Job on the ship! Wondered if I would ever see my favorite youtube modeler do a demo of my first love, ship modeling. I spent 2 years building a 350 scale Gunze Lusitania in her black war "camo" paint job as she left NY on her way to being sunk off Ireland. Used every imaginable piece of PE, 200+ highly detailed window decals for every window on the ship, grab ropes and PE for 30+ lifeboats, all the PE railing and funnel ladders, all the rigging that I could see from a copy of the ships rigging plans I got a copy of from a friend (20 feet long by about 4 feet wide)... and scratch built several parts and collapsible life boats that were not designed into the kit that I found on the rigging plans. I researched the heck out of it and put every detail I could find and/or scratch build on it. It turned out fabulous and won an IPMS regional trophy for best commercial ship model. However, sadly it burned my butt out on ship building for a while. Still have another Luci about 2/3rds completed sitting in "dry dock" in my 'workshop' waiting to be completed and I've completed several 700 and various scale scale ocean liners as well as 1200, 700, 400 and 350 scale versions of the Titanic. I'm done with the Titanic and glad that phase is over...LOL I have several battleships and war ships in my stash with all the available for some of them waiting for me to finish my tank phase. My first ship to start back is going to be the 350 Tamiya Bismarck with all available PE and RB gun barrels for the main turrets. That all said...I'm so pleased you did a ship finally and surprised how good your construction and paint jobs were and how quickly you did it. You handled the PE with ease, unlike myself who struggles with the stuff and your detailing work on the wood was great. I'll be using that technique with lighter shaded panel liners to simulate teak wood decks on the Bismarck. You are one outstanding, very talented modeler, Andy. Would really enjoy watching you work on an ocean liner and see how you handle all the detail, which as you know is a lot more than warships. Thanks again for a magnificent build. You are inspiring me and making modeling fun again for me. Cheers from Michigan!
Thanks for uploading this very nice build. Trying my hand at ship building myself and using your builds as a great resource. Thanks again. It's a beaut'!
I'm about to build the Revell 1/350 Tirpitz Premium Edition- over 2300 parts !! Your video was fantastic many thanks. I just wish here in Australia we could get all those tools and glues and flex rigging lines. I too had mast bend when I applied my rigging to my Trumpeter 1/350 Admiral Hipper, I wish there was a way to stop that- perhaps brass replacement masts - Great Video and a lovely model
Gorgeous. The last time I considered building the Zara, the only thing available was some old dog from 4 decades ago. Didn't even know Trumpeter put out a new tool!! And this is why they're my favourite model company; not only are they the most prolific, but who else would tackle something like this or Dreadnought [or three different versions of Dreadnought?] The downside, is that they're a university first, a model company second; so you do get some occasional student errors.
Andy... instead of having to mask of the Green or Red and the Gray of the hull for the water line ...I used " 1/8" Black Pin Stripping I bought at the Auto parts store !!! IT worked perfectly for my 1/350 scale Bismarck ! The Hull came with a witness line and it was 1/8" and behold it looks great. A LOT easier than all that masking and painting. Try it !!
This looks like a good kit, my biggest issue about 1/350 ships is finding/funding photo etch railings, and other finer details. So i tend to steer clear, but maybe i night have to look into a kit like this. As always a brilliant video Andy, keep up the good work! Thanks
Andy, thank you for completing a ship! I enjoyed your deck painting technique rather than just using deck tan which doesn't give a realistic outcome. I really enjoy your video's and hope to see more ships. Fred
Darn you Andy ! You made me order some 1/72 scale armor, tools, and paint !! I haven't done plastic kits in years. Sticker shock at 1/35 scale tanks tho. So hey, at least with 1/72 I can get more models in the same display space, which is also limited.
Great job! Love watching your vids, they're not just entertaining but informative as you take your time to thoroughly explain your process every step of the way without making things to complicated. Above it all your videos are inspiring! Thank you for putting them out there and keep up your great work.
you should build the kotobukiya metal gear sahelanthropus. looks like a challenge but the result would be fantastic. keep up the good work mate love your work.
Hi Andy, That was a surprise to see and I must say you have done a excellent job. My dream build would be something like the Bismark or maybe the Hood, but then I have very little display, so I will 'stick' to armour and aircraft. Great Job, Les
Amazing work Andy! Love the channel. I am always learning some new things after your videos. It is great to see some different things. It's a blast building different subjects and getting outside my comfort zone.
Good job! 👍 The Zara is one of my favorite heavy cruisers of WWII. I’m glad someone finally made a model of her. I’m getting this kit for sure! 👍🇮🇹
Let's get started. I love it. Each time I build my models, I would build away watching you.
Keep awesome
Italian ships are just beautiful.
They are, and when you can build models of them as well as this guy, you can really show them in their full elegant glory.
japanase and usa ship are better
Gesù_Official nah British are best botes
Roma 💜
@Mantis Rabb .
Insane amount of detail. the wood deck looks great! Thanks for the tip on painting that up
Ships are a very welcome addition to the channel imo, great build!
Thank you much more variety coming soon
Andy's Hobby Headquarters how come no more classical music during painting?
When you are doing something as intricate as a ship, you would want peace and quiet. Great video, Andy; at last, a ship!
He should have put on the music to Victory at Sea with the ships....if the copyright nazis don't hassle him about it.
Thank you for inspiring me to make model kits andy
I like zara... beautiful lines and nice hull color
I am italian! Beautiful ship, beautiful model, beautiful video! Congratulations👏👏👏
Liked the bit at the start about basic tools and your advice for dealing with etch. Lots of good info on the build.
Beautiful job Andy
It looked as if you were having alot of fun with it. Thanx for sharing this video
I live in Houston an been displaced due to flooding, but seeing you pop up on my feed just made me happy for the first time in the last few days, thanks andy!
That's great , stay safe .
I will thanks!
Good luck Hunter! I can beleve it's terrible what you are going tru! Belgium is praying for al of you!
Stay safe Hunter! We're praying for all of you.
Much luck to you getting back on your feet.
Italian ships are amazing. Very handsome to build and have on display.
Very nice kit. One of these days I'm move from ww2 land models to ships! Thanks for sharing
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you built the ZARA. I myself have been building model ships for over 50 years now. Both Military and full rigged sailing ships. Respectfully, Richard Alden
This may be your best build yet. Congrats and good job getting this done in just 2.5 weeks.
Hi Andy I'm from the city of Zara (today Zadar Croatia) and it's my favourite ship! I think you've really done her proud. Great job!
A SHIP! Finally! Keep mixing it up and Great video Andy!
Thank you
I came here to comment the same thing! I'm really into ships and want to join the navy so of course building ships is my main type of scale model!
Aircraft carrier please!
Yeah, for us ship modelers these videos are rare.
I am working on a 1:350 Bismarck, nice to have a video from you to get some more tips whether or not I use them. Great vids!
Thank you
Superb, about to get back into modelling after 30 years, what an inspiring video, thank you so much.
Great build, the ZARA came out a bit of masterpiece. Very realistic. Verity is the spice of life. I'm interested in what ever kit you build. I learn a lot from each build.
Love the green hill. Enjoy watching your videos, I really have learned so much watching them.
A difficult build for Master Andy that came out as always, UNBELIEVABLE..! This was a great video to watch!!
It turned out very nice, its very helpful to see your build and paint process for this ship. Cheers
Hi Andy,Thanks for your video's Andy. I've been modelling for a long time but my skills have improved dramatically thanks to your techniques. I'm trying photo etch for the first time after this!
You are a superstar presenter. Gonna tackle a Revell of Germany U-boat for my next project. Wish I could visit your store one day.
That is a fine looking cruiser, well done.
Andy thanks for the deck painting tip it looks absolutely fantastic
Very nice job ... i can not wait now to get my hands on HMS Belfast finally, same size and brand as this Zara. Looks quite large actually, the paint job of wooden deck and those litle rusty marks here and there gave the model a pinch of spirit. Very inspiring and informative for me. Thank you
not because I'm italian (or maybe yes) but our ships are sexy
PowderMonk no, they are and I’m American lol
Roma is my favorite
They really are, and after-WW2 Soviet shipbuilding school has Italian origins ;)
Many American seamen agreed with you Monk, some would comment that they wished that the U.S. ships had glass bottoms,
so that they could get a better view the Italian Navy!
@@mikesmith4725 ....you're right, too bad there is no Italian fleet at the bottom of the sea😎
Hey nice to see that you painted those photo etched parts unlike some people because I have never seen gold colored railings or ladders in a real warship.

Really impressive build. Ships look like a lot of hard work but it was worth all the effort. Great result
A nice change & an excellent job, like it a lot 👍🏻🇦🇺

Love the branch out to ships...it's why I like this channel.
Great looking ship. Turned out wonderful.
Wow! What a result - awesome

Looks incredible Andy. Inspired!

Fantastic build Andy. There was a lot of fiddly parts on this . Great result 🖒

I love ❤️ Italian planes, tanks and ships they are so out there and new and the best thing is they work. I also play Italy on War Thundet
Bobs Bushcraft
So you mean 5 aircrafts and a tank? Most of them aren't even made with the necessary care, the tank crew says random stuff as well.
That was a great video. You've inspired me to buy this kit and try a ship.
great job on your ship
Hi Andy, Love the videos. Keep up the great work.
