Thank you, Les! Initially I wanted to build the 1/72 scale Italeri B-52, but it is such an enormous model that I happily ordered the smaller 1/144 new-tooled Academy kit as soon as it was announced. This size eats up enough space on the shelf already. 😆 Regarding the next build, I had actually started another 1/144 kit before working on the B-52H but maybe I‘ll launch something else in 1/72 that’s been in the queue for quite some time now… 😉 Stay safe, best regards from Germany, Oliver/RWO
Well done, mate! Flashbacks to when I was Crew Chief on Gs with occasional work on Hs. Kinda odd that they didn't provide decals for the spine and wing walkways as the did with the stabilizer. 🤷🏽♂️ If you want a beat up looking one from Guam, you can rust up the gear and other steel parts then splatter grease liberally on the gear and wells. I'm planning on my 1/144 as 7-6468 in Vietnam 3 color with white belly which was in the above condition when I got it. The 1/72 will be in the 2 color grey/green of 8-0230 right after I got her back from Depot with that new scheme.

I just thought about using a Dremel tool with a very fine tip but I guess that would require an extremely steady hand, lots of patience and strong nerves. 🥵🙂
Thank you! I always wanted to build the Italeri B-52 in 1/72 scale but when I realised how big this thing is I went for the smaller (and superbly made) Academy kit in 1/144. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
Really appreciate your inquiry but I'm afraid properly building a scale model with approx. 80 cm wingspan exceeds my capabilities at this time. Sorry...
It is definitely safer to seal in your work with a clear coat (preferably gloss clear) before continuing with washes/panel line colors. This way, everything you’ve done before (painting, decals) is protected in case you need to correct or fix something. With this build I passed on the clear coat because I knew I only wanted to apply panel line color in a few places where no decals could be damaged. Hope this helps.
Alwzys enjoy the hobby, and make certain you have at least a basic tool set which you will add to over time, and always keep reading the instructions, all the best for your new hobby. Best regards from Australia.
I‘m with Les, most important is to have fun and enjoy the hobby! And don’t be put off if something goes wrong - because it definitely will! 😉 Try to choose easy models with single-colored paint schemes and gradually increase the difficulty level or try new techniques when you feel comfortable and satisfied with your results. You will soon find out which skills are easy for you to pick up and which require more effort to achieve the desired results. For example, I love painting my models but I hate sanding and filling gaps, yet it needs to be done to have a decent looking model. Always try to be patient and take your time, a good build can (and will) take weeks or even months. Hope this helps. All the best, Oliver/RWO 🙂
Depending on which models you have you can buy these mask sets separately from various aftermarket brands (for example Eduard, I also regularly use their mask sets for my builds).
Sure, it’s called Molotow Liquid Chrome. It comes in different tip sizes, the one I’m using is 1mm. You can also see it at 8:23 in the video. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
Time just flew by watching this video - more therapy than anything, loved it. A question if I may. I haven't touched a model in over 30 years and am motivated to start again, back then it was tube cements, which meant being careful to avoid excess seeping out of joints. So it was apply a thin film to the edge to be glued and press together the pieces. With the new(er) liquid cements though, like the Ultra Thin Tamiya, I notice people dab around a join and then capillary action draws it in, but this leaves a visible 'spot' on the exterior surface. In some instances you can see a lot of these patches all over the finished model. Does this affect the surface at all? Being thin it wouldn't be a raised blob as I remember would happen in the 'good ole days' that required sanding back, but I worry (too much) about the effects on the plastic, if it causes damage to it. I suppose I should just buy a small cheap kit to practice on - haven't done that yet - but I'm a worrier as I don't want to stuff up even an expendable one. Can you shed light on this? Cheers.
Thanks for your kind comment! In fact this hobby really is a kind of self therapy for me after an accident a few years ago. Glad you liked the video! 🙂 Regarding super thin glue there’s actually no need to worry about those spots you mentioned, on unpainted surfaces. Most likely they will disappear with the first layer of paint. Using glue on painted surfaces is different though and you need to be extra careful. The bond is a lot weaker (if there’s any bond at all) and you easily get those nasty „blobs“ when glue and paint react together. Practicing on a small, easy kit is a good idea. Different types of plastic work differently with your glue, and you’ll soon find out how much glue you need to use. Most important, have fun and don’t be too upset if things get messed up. It’ll happen. ☺️ Greetings from Germany, Oliver/RWO
@@RWOModels Thanks so much, very kind of you for the detailed reply. I appreciate that a lot. I guess after watching videos such as yours, I want the first model I make to be 'incredible' and forget your level of skill and the time you have put in to perfecting it. I should aspire to be that good, but I should realise I am starting from scratch, again. I have a Revell lunar lander bought in 1984, untouched, sitting in a cupboard Stores where I am are going to open up again in 2 days time after the worlds longest series of lockdowns and I am going to get a few kits from a real walk in shop (online orders are always damaged by our mail service, nothing beats walking into a shop and seeing everything they have there and picking up a crisp, new box of goodies), I have a list of a couple of easy practice kits to get and a few serious (expensive) ones for much, much later to tempt me to do well, like your Saturn V. I only hope they are still in stock as model kits have been popular and run out quickly! Most of last year you couldn't even find glue. Vielen Dank, time to rewatch your earlier videos and take more notes 😁. Greetings from Australia. Oh, your videos really are put together so well.... ha ha , another thing I wish I could do - but model building first.
@@tomstamford6837 Thank you! Regarding the purchase of model kits I guess it’s kind of „normal“ to have way more in your stash than you could ever build. 😬 That’s quite common in this hobby. 😂 All the best of luck to you, let’s hope this crazy situation were all in will somehow come to an end pretty soon. Enjoy your builds, stay safe and take care! Cheers, Oliver/RWO
Hi, I have a large box where I collect all sorts of foam pieces from packagings etc. in different sizes. I picked a few suitable parts, roughly cut them into shape and pushed them into the gear bays as well as the bomb bay so that they cover all the previously painted areas. No big deal actually. 🙂 Hope this answers your question? Thanks for watching!
On my main desk I use a Panasonic Lumix Micro-Four Thirds system camera which is attached to a modified PC monitor desk mount. The camera is located overhead, and the field of view is set up in such a way that my head is not visible in the recorded image. On my second desk - which is actually more or less my illuminated airbrush spray booth - I've been using my old iPhone which I'm gradually replacing with a second, smaller system camera (also mounted overhead) allowing more advanced, manual settings for higher and more consistent image quality. I'm constantly working on my camera and lighting setup, and if you look through my older videos you'll (hopefully) see a few advances and improvements. :) Thanks for watching!
Thank you! On my main work desk I use an overhead rig I constructed from a monitor desk mount. The camera is hanging directly over the working area pointing downwards and is attached through a Manfrotto quick release bracket so I can easily remove it. On my airbrush extractor booth I use a second, smaller camera which is mounted on a Manfrotto Magic Arm. Maybe some time I'll do a video showing my workspace and equipment. 🙂 Thanks for watching!

Good catch! I’ll tell the crew chief to have a look before the next bombing mission. 😄😉 Joke aside, I guess the limited clearance is due to the one piece design of the bomb bay side walls/doors. Thanks for watching!

Excellent build! At that scale the scribed panel lines are too prominent. Panel line emphasizing is overdone by most modelers abs unfortunately judges like it.

The precut tape you used for the canopy windows, did that come with the kit or did you purchase it separately?
The pre-cut masks are included in the kit, and they are of excellent quality! 👍 Thanks for watching!
@@RWOModels can they be bought separately or do they only come included in kits. I have a few models that could use canopy masks.
Depending on which models you have you can buy these mask sets separately from various aftermarket brands (for example Eduard, I also regularly use their mask sets for my builds).
Top 👍👍 eines meiner Lieblings Modelle
Vielen Dank!
Absolut, eine B-52 in 1:144 ist wirklich groß genug. 😄
Exelent bomber

nice thanks
May i ask what Pen did you use for the landing gear lights?
Sure, it’s called Molotow Liquid Chrome. It comes in different tip sizes, the one I’m using is 1mm. You can also see it at 8:23 in the video. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
nice one
Thanks! 🙂
MAGNÍFICO!!!! 👍
I have a Revell lunar lander bought in 1984, untouched, sitting in a cupboard
Stores where I am are going to open up again in 2 days time after the worlds longest series of lockdowns and I am going to get a few kits from a real walk in shop (online orders are always damaged by our mail service, nothing beats walking into a shop and seeing everything they have there and picking up a crisp, new box of goodies), I have a list of a couple of easy practice kits to get and a few serious (expensive) ones for much, much later to tempt me to do well, like your Saturn V.
Cheers, Oliver/RWO
how did u manage to attach 39,41,42,43 decal?
where can i get that tool for panel lines? In the minute 17:30
This is amazing! I have this kit myself and can't wait to put it together. How long did it take you from start to finish?
Thank you! It took me 7 weeks to build, with a few days off in-between. I'm not the fastest builder. :) Thanks for watching!
How did you make the foam cutouts for masking?
Hi, I have a large box where I collect all sorts of foam pieces from packagings etc. in different sizes. I picked a few suitable parts, roughly cut them into shape and pushed them into the gear bays as well as the bomb bay so that they cover all the previously painted areas. No big deal actually. 🙂 Hope this answers your question? Thanks for watching!
I've been curious... What do you use to film your projects? And how the heck do you keep it out of your way while you build??
@@RWOModels That is a really smart way of doing things! Thank you for such an exact answer!
how and what do you use to get the camera angel please? Great videos loving it
@@RWOModels Yes you should it would be a good video. Thanks for replying if you get a chance take a look at my videos which I have just started. Thanks 👍
zinc chromate yellow is it vallejo same adc grey?
and what tamiya panel accent line use?
Very nice dude, where did you buy that one?
Thank you! I had pre-ordered the kit at my local hobby shop here in Germany and picked it up there. Not sure about the current availability. Thanks for watching!
How high were you when you did this build?
👍😏
The bombload won't clear the bay doors without striking them.
Good catch! I’ll tell the crew chief to have a look before the next bombing mission. 😄😉 Joke aside, I guess the limited clearance is due to the one piece design of the bomb bay side walls/doors. Thanks for watching!
а на какую камеру снимаете? )
I hope it’s okay to answer in English. 😉 For video and stills I use a Panasonic Lumix Micro Four Thirds system camera with manual zoom lens, attached to a modified PC monitor desk mount. For lighting I use two cheap LED softboxes. Thanks for watching!
@@RWOModels thank you for answering)🙂
Could you imagine a 1/24 scale.😂
How long does this take, please reply
I’ve been building approximately seven weeks on this, maybe 80-120 hours in total or even more, can’t tell exactly.
Jeeez
Excellent build! At that scale the scribed panel lines are too prominent. Panel line emphasizing is overdone by most modelers abs unfortunately judges like it.
Thank you, Robert! Fully agree with you on that. Personally I don't care about judges, contest rules or competitions in general and just do my builds the way I like it. Thanks for watching! Greetings from Germany, Oliver/RWO
how much does this model cost? id like to bye it
Hi there, I usually don't sell my models so I'm afraid I can't tell you a price for it... sorry! Thanks anyway, take care and thanks for watching! 👍🙂
@@RWOModels oh i meant the price you bought it for lol i need to re word it lol
Ah, okay, sorry I misunderstood you! 🤷🏻♂️😆 Well, I'm based in Germany, and here the kit cost me around 40 Euros (equivalent to approximately 40 USD), if that is of any help to you?
@@RWOModels thanks
Apparently the B-52 Will fly until 2050.???
@@krugmeister7301 I guess that's the plan... 😬👍
