dip your bolts in milk of magnesia. I am a Navy Jet Engine mechanic veteran . 1983-1987. That is what we use on the A6 bombers after burners. Milk of Magnesia becomes a powder under high heat. It will not let the nut and bolt seal tight. I use this trick on my headers, exhaust and head bolts
Wonderful review sir! Since ill only be camping behind my house, i think the Temu has plenty of value for me since ill just use it a few times a year. Thanks for the great info!
Awesome, glad you found it helpful! Before you select which Winnerwell you might wanna watch this other video I did comparing sizes and models. ua-cam.com/video/zosoXcGL1ww/v-deo.html Enjoy!
We have the Winnerwell Nomad View Large and love it. The build quality is worth the price. The fact you can put standard (14") sized wood pieces in it is a very important - you don't have to saw logs smaller to make them fit as you do with tiny stoves. And the Winnerwell doesn't have to be fed wood as often at night. Keep up the great videos!
I've had a winnerwell nomad large for a few years now, and I believe whoever welded that was on their first day on the job. I contacted them for a pair fractured welds on the draft door the day I opened the box and they decided not to honor the warranty because the draft door hadn't actually fallen off yet. But it wobbled plenty and didn't really seal up at well. I spent an extra hundred on my own to get these issues resolved because I didn't want the door to be an issue in the middle of a camping trip. I'm not saying the Temu is better (I don't own one), but I wouldn't assume that price is an indicator of quality.
we have the winnerwell nomad large and trust me, you want a company that has good customer service and winnerwell is just that. They have alot of accessories too. The quality of the steel makes all the difference
I have a stove purchased on ebay that was about $180.00 . I had been looking at Winnerwell but the price was more than I could afford. I compared size vs weight and selected one that was the same in stainless steel and added a basketweave cabinet knob on the door. It is for car or sled camping because it is heavy. For backpacking, I purchased a titanium used unit from Amazon. It works well for less than half the Winnerwell, even though I had to add my own screen to the stove pipe.
@theoutdoorempire also, winnerwell has this new stove called the Pentagon which looks amazing, but I think it's $799 which is more in the glamping range.
I like these comparisons. I did decide against this and went diesel heater though. But if I was legit wilderness camping for a week or longer I would definitely buy a hot tent stove.
Just got my temu camping stove and hot tent to go with it. Really surprised with the quality of both. First time temu users can get $45 off $150 and over. Scored both for $200.
@@WillieMakeit I've camped with it twice. My complaints are, the tent is too small. The stove can be fickle and getting a slow burn can be tricky. Have smoked myself out of the tent several times. More of a me issue than the stove though I guess. Quality wise they have both held up great.
Just thinking - If I am taking a stove camping (I have the OneTigres), what would be the pros & cons of simply sitting the stove on fire-bricks and not using the legs? Would that add additional heat?
Good question. I don't think it would ad heat, but it would possible lower the frost ring or keep it warmer near the ground where you're sleeping. Not sure how big a difference it would really make, might need to test it.
@theoutdoorempire from everything im seeing its a decent little stove but needs better air flow Edit: I have a cooking on a woodstove playlist and other videos you might find interesting my stove is house stove though and is installed in my house hope you check it out
Not yet! Lots of folks have been asking me about them, but I just haven't given it a go and I'm not sure I want to. I kinda like these little wood burners, but we'll see.
The diesel heaters work good i have a buddy that uses one canvas forgotten to top off fuel before heading out once which was chitty for him as where ever I go I have fuel for my wood stove all around me.
Would putting sand on the inside bottom be beneficial? How about a gasket for the door? Is two 90⁰ pipes too much for venting the smoke properly? Sorry for all the questions. 😆 Thanks for your video.
I don't know about sand. Never thought about it. Seems like it'd get messy. I don't think a gasket would provide any real benefit for a tent stove. I've never tried two 90 pipes, but I think that might be a problem. Might get some backflow of smoke and a bunch of creosote build up. I frequently use two 45 degree pipe fittings and that works great. You can still shoot the flue out the side of your tent and get the chimney vertical. The pipe exits at a 45 angle. I've also seen guys use a single 90 pipe on the exterior of the tent for stoves with the flue exiting straight out the back of the stove. But I think the two 45s is the way to go.
Ikr the greed some of the gear manufacturers call for. I have a limit to overpaying, after that I tend to not like your whole product line. Hate that I'm like that but I don't play
I wonder how much the price difference really is after u get a better chimney, rain cap, and gloves on the temp compared to the win? Also is there any in between lol?
Ya if you wanted to upgrade the chimney that probably costs a bit. A rain cap/spark arrestor and gloves are pretty negligible. There are some in the middle, but I don't have much experience with them. I've heard good things about Pomoly stoves in general.
Will the winnerwell last 3 times as long? Since you estimated that the temu is about 60% as capable, so capability-corrected the winnerwell costs $300; still about 3x the price.
Good math, but tent stove performance ain't that linear. 😂 Though I would estimate the Winnerwell will last 3 times as long (both in burn time and in lifespan).
This is a great overview video. I have had a a couple different backpacking titanium fold up stoves but both use the roll up chimney design and just purchased a springbar classic jack 140 and won’t be able to use those backpacking stoves in it. So I was wondering what model winnerwell do you prefer? The woodlander or the nomad? I want to go with a large stove to fit full length pieces of firewood. Thanks
I would only ever use a tent-stove for inside cooking if weather is really bad anyway so I think a cheaper option may be ok as I would only be using it for a maximum of half an hour per use anyhow. I don't use heat at night because my sleep system is sufficient to allow me to not have to feed a small stove all night so that I actually get a good night's sleep.
Value all day on this. The function is not 60% because the heat transfer is the same 100% . It's 60% the size the function is the same in cooking since the food will be on the stove. the only advantage the larger stove has is volume witch gives it a larger radius of heating.
If you want to stay awake to keep feeding the stove then get one, if not, you best find another more reliable way of getting some sleep and staying warm cos hot stoves at the moment just aren't made for that.
Anything from Temu scares me. It just seems strange that you can buy something so cheap, and you wonder what the actual catch is. I am sure there is NO customer service with the Temu product.
A fair concern. I haven't needed to reach out to customer service yet, so I'm not sure. But you can get pretty much the same stove on Amazon if you prefer.
I just received the small one a few hours ago and it's great, very flame adjustable, I will buy the bigger one once I'm sure about the use I have for it , as to service , My delivery was a day late, as I was in urgent need I cancelled the stove or after Temu made the offer, today the stove turned up as Temu said if it still comes it's mine free, no need to return, I'm a bit impressed with that, so even though I have my doubts I can't give one complaint.

how does the winner well stove compare to the guide gear camping stove that one was really popular about 5 years ago

Not yet! Lots of folks have been asking me about them, but I just haven't given it a go and I'm not sure I want to. I kinda like these little wood burners, but we'll see.
What I’ve seen ppl do, is they bring both. Stove for till it dies out, then turn on diesel heater for all night warmth.

The smaller the stove, the smaller the wood has to be.
True. Small stoves require more work to process firewood.
