I did not realize the amount of "fiddle-diddle" that goes into the installation of this stove. There is an amazing amount of work involved in the installation. Thank you for sharing.
My wife and I have that exact same cubic mini in our 300 sq ft tiny home we absolutely love it we use the stove all winter long we heat with a combination of madrone and Doug fir, but I'm not sure Ken if you did a pre burn on the stove it needs at least a 3-hour preburn outside to cure the paint otherwise it will smoke inside as the paint cures and will leave a smell that is very difficult to get out of your house
Enjoyed the video this morning, even though I didn’t comment at that time. I was watching the news this evening here in Arizona and saw all the flooding over on the East Coast and I do hope that your town does not get flooded out again. Again, great job on all of your videos. Prayers and blessings. Go your way for decent weather.
Ken, glad you showed the stove installation cus I was worried you wouldn’t when I saw it already hanging on the wall during the table build on the Murphy bed in the video before. Was pretty scary when you put the wood in the stove and talked about starting a fire right after you wrapped the plastic on the pipe above. Almost jumped out of chair wanting to say….hey wait!!😆 Nice looking build.
That is a beauty. So glad you didn't light it after the plastic cover. I was hollering, wait wait, the plastic. (Just have one question. Does this need a first burn "bake off" outside, gradual up to temp, them a continued elevated heat to temper, like other NEW wood burning stoves?)
❤ Good Evening Ken 🌌🌟This is a Awsome little Stove! 👍Never seen 1 so small, like a Toater Oven! Looks so easy to install! Very Portable! 👌🤞✌️👍🙌🌽🤩🇺🇸🌠🌞🍀🌻🌾🌱🍃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It looks really nice. I bet you could put the screws through the heat shield, then the spacer and hold the spacers to the screws with a little scotch tape. The tape would peel off when you drive the screws. It is interesting that they have you put the chimney pipe 180° opposite what is normally done. Presumably having the fluted side down keeps creosote from leaking down outside the pipe.
I always wondered about that. Fluted at bottom, liquids run DOWN inside. But smoke escapes through the fluted gaps as it rises? Not sure about the science.
Such a cute mini-wood stove! That really looks nice mounted on the shelf! So sorry you had to cut a hole in the roof but I like the double walled chimney and the insulation surround chimney. I really liked the whole stove wall bracket thing for air movement all around the stove. I'm glad you aren't putting it through where anything special is behind there. Nice job getting the hole cut through the roof! I like the boot cap around the chimney and the chimney cap. When it gets to it's resting place you'll put the other piece of chimney on. Great video on the installation of the Cubic mini-wood stove Ken!
Very Cute!!! But WHY did you position it so close to the window? And ON the trim? Did not get that part. No chance for curtains or blinds now! And is there room for a cabinet under the wood stove in the corner? Say 36"? Love following along!
Wow. Thanks for sharing your expertise. One question about that boot made of silicone. Is it holding up and it looks like water and ice could accumulate in the nooks and crannies that I’d be worried about?
I was thinking about how it will smoke and smell if you didn't do a pre-burn outside before installing it - and sure enough I saw a comment down below where someone said that. I don't think you did - and if not - they are right it will "smell"! It's the paint on it. I'll be installing one like that in my 8x12 itsy bitsy tiny home summer of 25. I am blessed - I have friends who will provide me with all the wood I need/desire. Thank you so much to my friends. Me and my fur face live in the tiny cottage. Had to take everything out for a while to put in flooring. I've done things as I can afford. So means sometimes moving "everything out". I will be glad when it's finished (of course a person always comes up with something new to do inside or outside of their tiny cottage/home. :-) I am going to be experimenting with wood burning on some trim that goes inside cottage and on wall covering in places. And even adding color with "wood dye" oh yes there is such a thing. :-) It's fun to watch others work on their cottages - and always something new to learn. Enjoyed the video. God Bless.
I have a mini capybara on pre-order but I am considering the cubic mini (bus) ceiling kit for it. I am so scared to cut a hole in my roof. Thanks for walking us through the complete installation process with you.
Perfect !!!Well done !!! Nice stove from Canada EH? OH Under a NEW STORM watch here in Toronto to the Quebec border!!! Debbie has come this far North!!! Trust she will leave your area ALONE!!!!?????
Thank you for the video. I know you need to describe what you’re doing but at the beginning of the video it sounds like you are assembling something but not showing what you’re doing. Where did you purchase the stove and how any square foot will it heat? Thank you for the video. I’ve been considering purchasing one. I appreciate your help.
Very nice installation. Takes some patience. Is there a reason that it couldn't have gone closer to the corner rather than overhang the window trim? super job!
Ken, how will the customer put up curtains with the stove so close to the window? BTW your tiny trailer box dwelling has been a great series. Thanks for making it.
2 questions. How does the stovepipe connect "airtight-ly" down at the woodstoce end? And the metal shield behind the stovepipe, shouldn't there be airflow behind it? Where does the air at the top of it get out?
The stove pipe is a double wall pipe one pipe fits inside the stove, the other one the outside of the stove. There’s good air flowing behind the shield on the wall.
Used one if these in a camper several years ago. They are very small, but effective for the area.Efficient stoves that use little wood. Get the Grizzly.
I was just wondering why you didn't install a bit lower? I understand its much easier to gain access too and less bending over which is huge😊, but seems more efficient to have lower?? Thanks, was fun to watch and its a cool stove for sure.
I have one in my 35 foot arctic wolf.. it works good. Takes allot of work to cut wood to 6 inches long. But worth it all winter long a steady warm heat on the cold end of it.
@ Thanks for your input, would be great to see pictures or better yet a video on your install. But yah that’s awesome. Nothing better than wood heat where it can be used imo 👍🏼👍🏼
Why did you have to install a backer board? Was it to push the unit out far enough to have room for the 7 inch diameter hole up top? Or was it some manner of personal preference?
I think your inner pipe is installed upside down usually the taper and goes down so creosote flows down the pipe inside of the stove instead of over top of the spike sections
If they are wood threaded screws, you can cut little squares of plastic or tag-board and cut a slit in the middle. Turn the panel face down with the screws pointed up, place the spacers on the screw ends, and then thread the little squares onto the ends to hold everything in place when you lift the panel back up.
Hs ha... Seeing this little house is causing ne to want one! For no good reason other than having that tiny stove :o)... But seriously you've dine an execlent job!
Next time, just take a little double-sided. Type stick on the back, litter, run your screw through your hole, and then stick it through the double side of tape, and then screw that thing all the way up against there, and they'll stick to the metal as easy as that and then when you run your screwing to the board. You're there? I mean. How hard is it? To work out something easier for you, and that is it?That's all I can suggest to you
my major concern is no heat protection for the wood surface behind stove yes there is a heat shield but behind shield is a very combustible wood panel there is mineral wool insulation that i personally would put on the wall just another layer of protection

That is so darn cute, I never knew they made them so small!
Hi Carolyn it’s a fun size stove
Neat little Cubic heater. Awesome job on installation. Thanks Ken!
Thanks I appreciate it
Beautiful little stove. Glad you seem to have a lot of patience with the fidely little things. Looks beautiful ❤
Thanks
Excellent choice, that little stove is perfect for the little house.

Cellular shades or no cord shades get mounted within the window frame. They would work.
It had to be that close to the window in order to clear the storage area trim
Then why not cut out the window trim to make it flush ?

Ken, how will the customer put up curtains with the stove so close to the window? BTW your tiny trailer box dwelling has been a great series. Thanks for making it.

Did you have to pre-drill the holes between pipes, or did you just use self-tapping screws? Also. how many screws at each pipe joint? 2 or 3??
2 questions.

Ken , Why didn't you just use a Hole Saw to drill the hole for the stove pipe through the ceiling ?
Because it’s oblong with the slope and I don’t have a five or 6 inch holesaw

No the homeowner did
It's a beautiful stove. You left out some important information. How many btus is it rated for? How many square feet is it designed to heat?
Bummer. I don’t have that info anymore
I owned the Grizzly model. I changed to a pellet stove. No issues with the Grizzly except while sleeping it's small and went out.
Very nice
Did the De Res Destroyer pick axe release yet?
How much airspace is left, behind the metal heat protector sections you installed at 4 minutes in, in the video?
About an inch
