2yrs later this man helped ease my anxiety. 😂 Iooked it up and I got mixed messages on if it was dangerous or just it needing replacement. Got it replaced either way but yeah, wish I saw this earlier lol
I'm up at 5:52 on a work day because my alarm started beeping. This video was perfect Dan! It covered everything I was concerned about including examples of the beeps. Thank you for posting!!
Thank you sir! Reading those cryptic instructions to find what the beeps are is a pain. Mine is about 8 years old too and does this 5 beeps thing. I tested the battery and it was good. Glad I found this. Will replace mine.
Thank for the info about blowing the sensor clear. I do want to let you know if you're alarms are not working correctly and still within the lifespan timeframe, the company will replace free.
Thanks for this video! My alarm kept beeping 3x every few minutes. It was driving my dog crazy and me with her barking. I changed the battery, still kept beeping. I vacuumed the sensor, seemed to do the trick.
I have one that is flashing a red light, it's annoying at night. If I shine my flashlight on it, it will flash red about 2 seconds later. The red light is not the red light indicator but comes out of the side? It's a first alert smoke and carbon monoxide detector
I had 3 chirps and that went on every 1 minute. That meant that the CO sensor malfunctioned. First Alert will be sending me replacements. My house is also 8 years old and the warranty is for 10 years.
Our fire alarm was chirping, we removed it from ceiling connection wires because a new batterie didn’t stop the chirping. After watching your video I see we need to replace the fire alarm itself because it is beyond 10 years old! But the ceiling where we removed the fire alarm continues to chirp! What is the issue? Will it stop once we replace the fire alarm with a new one or is something wrong with the wiring???
I WOULD SWITCH THAT ONE WITH ANOTHER ONE IN THE HOUSE PLUG ALL OF THEM BACK IN AND THEN GO TRIP THE BREAKER OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET THEM AND SEE IF THAT WORKS TO SHUT THE CHIRP OFF TEMPORARILY OR SEE IF YOU HEAR IT AT THE SAME LOCATION OR THE NEW LOCATION YOU PUT THAT ALARM
If you are a ham radio operator and you hear 3 chirps, try to stop transmitting ASAP. It can be due to EMI/RFI (EMI = electro-magnetic interference, RFI = radio frequency interference) and find the one and you might have to temporarily disconnect it or if wireless, then you might want to replace it with a wired smoke detector if possible.
HELP!!! I literally have no more smoke detectors in this house and the beeps are still coming out of the sockets with the wires hanging out. Can someone help? I am literally going crazy now. Can't find a video that deals with this.
After reading one of the comments a lightbulb went off. There was a carbon monoxide plug-in down under a windowsill that I found. I unplugged it and took the battery out and it stopped! For those of us who don't have good directional hearing, it can drive you absolutely insane. I had forgotten that thing was even there. Been there since we discovered a gas leak about a year ago.

Very helpful. Now do you have a remedy for the giant bags under my eyes from not sleeping?
Mine ended up requiring a vacuum after changing the battery and the chirping continued. Saved my sanity and marriage.

Thanks buddy there’s some helpful info in your video
Thanks for the info. Mine was just battery change, but got to know more for next time..
Excellent help !
You’re the best, thanks

Very helpful, thanks 👌🏻
Very helpful, thank you!
What if the ceiling where the smoke detector has been disconnected from is still chirping?
4:07 that is the piezo. (Horn)
I changed my battery however the 5 chirps began. I then held down the test button for 10 seconds and the chirping stopped.
Your comment helped me more than the video did! THANK YOU. I wasn’t sure how long to press and hold and a Google search brought me nothing. 🙏🏽
Great video, thanks

HOW MANY CHIRPS PER MINUTE ARE YOU GETTING THE CHIRPS COME FROM AN ALARM IT MUST BE ANOTHER ALARM YOU ARE HEARING THAT IS IN A DIFFERENT PLACE
@@diydan7019 5
And it is definitely coming from that specific wiring
@@diydan7019 Any thoughts? It’s 5 chirps and driving us nuts until the hardware store opens😬

Or you can just read the label on the back of the alarm. It says everything you need to know.

.ine went off because of a fire
Now it keeps chirping all 3 of them.
With my luck it started doing the five chirps at 4:23 AM
Mine were at 3am and only noticed because my dog was barking at it everytime
Happened at 2am, freaked out my dog, compelling him to pee all over my bed. Trying to figure out why it’s beeping in the first place.
👍
Those alarms are garbage. So many better options out there better yet the old ones from the 80s/90s/2000s were the best.
