I'm loving this! I've been keeping reptiles for years and my mom had recently said that she wanted dart frogs. She has always been obsessed with them and I would love to get some for her. I personally wanted the bumblebees but she had specifically said that she wanted " blue ones ". Lol. Her other request would be that you could see them hopping around and that they wouldn't be hiding constantly so I figured these guys were perfect. I'm going to set up a really nice bioactive tank for her and get her and find a pair of these guys for her. P.S. don't worry. I am doing tons of research on them and would be helping her care of them/ teaching her how to take care of them.
Glad I could help! And yeah the Powder Blues sound like they would be perfect for her! Enjoy your journey into the fascinating world of dart frogs, and let me know if you have any questions... :)
You did a wonderful well edited video and a great presentation on this species. Your last video was awesome also. Thank you for taking the time. I wish I could go to the Calgary expo, it'd be nice to meet you and see your projects and the center of your hobbies in person but I don't live in Canada. At least this format offers me away :-)
Thanks! Unfortunately I can't really ship to the US... It's technically possible I think, but dart frogs are CITES listed and it's quite a pain to ship internationally and I don't really have the proper paperwork for most of my frogs to show legal origins of the adults, which is apparently usually required to be able to ship their offspring back out. It also requires inspections and permits from Fish & Wildlife which means the whole process is quite expensive as well. I would recommend looking at Josh's Frogs or TCS Dart Frogs
Thanks! I am working on some Ranitomeya videos, but they are much more timid and difficult to film! I think hydei are probably a bit too big for most Ranitomeya, I would stick to the melanogaster.
Do you ever have any green sipaliwini tincts? I’m not looking for right now but want to put my feelers out to get started on planning and sourcing for when I am ready. It’ll probably be a year or two til I’m ready.
No, I don't, sorry... I'm not sure if I've ever even seen them offered in Canada before. I was actually supposed to get some a couple years ago in a group import from the U.S. but it ended up not working out, and I've never had an opportunity since. They are one I would love to get someday though!
This one is made from the Great Stuff expanding foam, with some cork bark pieces embedded in it. I build the foam up more than I want it, then carve it back down into the shapes I want. Then it gets coated in aquarium safe silicone and covered in a mixture of coconut coir, coconut husk, and sphagnum moss. I'm currently working on a couple new builds that will demonstrate the entire process.
Thank you for making these they are incredibly helpful!
Really nice video buddy! I need to do one of these on Koetari, and fine spot leucs
Thanks again from the UK!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
OMJ! - Oh My Josh!

Which of the Dart Frog species have the loudest croak? Which of them sound the best, like a large toad for instance?
Hey Josh. Does the croak of all of these Dart Frogs have a similar sound?
Yes, all of the tinctorius, and even all of the auratus (at least all the ones I've come across so far) have a similar quiet buzzing call.
Great informative video. I’m sure you are able to ship to the U.S.? Florida, specifically?

Great content. Thanks for sharing this.
I really like your video :) keep going. can I keep them in a 60x45x30 tank?
Thanks for posting your video. Do you feed your frogs daily or do you maintain another feeding scedule? Thx.
Awesome video again! Please do a Ranitomeya video next time.
Quick question, will Ranitomeya take Hydei?
Thanks! I am working on some Ranitomeya videos, but they are much more timid and difficult to film! I think hydei are probably a bit too big for most Ranitomeya, I would stick to the melanogaster.
Hello, I am going to make 36x18x36 inch viv and was wondering how many I could house in it. With such a large vivarium could I house 2 pairs?
Can you feed them pinhead crickets?

Do dendrobates terribilis mints please and thank you!
Can you house dart frogs from different subspecies together? like powder blues and azureus?
No, it’s generally not recommended. Josh’s frogs has a good article on why not to.
How do you make your backgrounds? the one in this tank looks incredible!

I love it' so much, But in Indonesia that so expensive for me. ... 😭 ..
What would happen if I held one in my hand?
How often do you dust the feeder insects?
Every time
Are they loud?
Not at all. As I mentioned in the video, the tinctorius are so quiet, it's hard to hear their call even if you're trying.
How big of a tank do you need for one?
@@nadavpresman5589 Again, this was covered in the video, but I would recommend a minimum of 10 gallons per frog, but bigger would be better.
Why no “oyapok”
I don't think I had Oyapok yet when I filmed this video, but I do have some now!
@@NorthernFrogger species hi light soon 😏
I want poison dart frogs as pets but my family would say no.
