If you haven't learned about it yet, try using Mod Podge after you do your carving and before you do your painting. Mix it with a bit of black paint and a tiny bit of water and apply 2 coats. This will allow you to use aerosol paints and sealants without it melting your XPS. It also strengthens the XPS so it's less likely to get damaged.

This looks more expensive and impressive than a majority of the figures I've seen . I like the bricks. Sheesh ! Must be nice. You do this for a living ? I'd like to see someone do a miniature set of buildings underneath a figure flying over , somehow. Probably already done but I have just started to watch these videos. A person can get a load of ideas from watching this . Thanks !

I appreciate the kind words. The walls are made from Foamular Insulation Panels available at Home Depot for $6 per 4 sqft (2'x2')
It's pink and easy to spot in the store by the lumber and other building materials. Usually held in an independent kiosk in the middle of the isle.

Thanks so much for watching and the compliment. Its called Foamular Insulation Panels. Its in the insulation aisle at Home Depot. Its usually in its own box in the middle of the aisle. Its about $5.50 for a 2 ft by 2ft section. Easy to locate in the store because its pink and stands out. Very easy to work with but wear a dust mask because the foam dust is bad for your lungs.

you take a bit off paint onto the brush and then blot your brush on a paper towel so you dont use too much paint. Its called dry brushing. You can find other videos that describe the technique in more detail. you're basically dusting the surface more than painting it. you'll see me blotting on the paper towel in spots in the video

Awesome video but not recommend if one were to attempt in imitating the painting procedure. There are many steps and for those earlier diorama buildiners would only catch on as mentioned *dry brushing* and not steps like blending as you did at the end and why you used white to pop your works. Additional Written details for each steps would be a plus, if the learner ever need to understand more they would search it up. Eg. Dry brushing. Awesome video
