I've been hoping for a terrain diarama video for a while now, mate, and you delivered beautifully. Great video, easy to follow and outstanding final results - fantastic work, as always mate 👍👍
Yo! Good question. I was using a standard N95 mask, not sure if that was doing a good job or not but it was old and tearing. So I did do some research and bought a respirator mask. Not sure if it’s too much, but better safe than sorry. Here’s the one I got: amzn.to/48ohDjA
Awesome! Glad you found it easy to follow. A real quick break down of the rocks: they are made from the cheap white foam, cut chunks and glued together, painted with Modge Podge and put some sand, then spray painted some different earthy colors.
That looks pretty darn cool! The hilly back corner looks great, just like an outcropping of rock. Reminds me of the layered rock you see along the coastline. Looking forward to seeing this diorama in action!
You keep inspiring me... Great work. Good tip that spray paints can "eat" foam it will spare some foam those who did not try this yet :) Instead You may use aerograph with acrylic paints. Good You want to use this dio in more than one shot, otherwise You would be facing storage problem. So take out from tabletop games is to make it as modular as You can so don't glue to much things together, so you can use the same stuff many time and on different occasions.
Thanks so much! Making it modular is definitely a good tip. I think this is my first one that isn't. I guess it was kind of a goal that I wanted to do. Also kind of a challenge/creative decision when taking pics. I do plan on adding to this that will be more modular pieces.
another inspiring setup! I really need to get back to the rock wall pieces I was working on... Quick question for you though. How long would you say it took you to get a better feel for the formations with landscapes, destroyed walls and such? The rock walls I'm working on feel like I need more practice getting the right shapes with.
Nice! Honestly, I still don't feel 100% confident when it comes to making these. It's definitely a lot of trial and error. Like I will cut, and then cut more, and still don't like it haha. But, I do now I'm learning more with each piece. So I would really say just keep experimenting. Also, working on only one or two pieces would be better than making a whole set, at least at first. Hope that helps!
Thanks! Really appreciate that. I’m sure you could use glue to make it a more permanent setup, but I just applied it directly on the board and it’s been fine all month 👍🏼
@@guydorian1828 For those, I cut up pieces of white styrofoam and then glued pieces together to make differnent shapes. Then I cut the corners and edges to make it less square. I coated it with Modge Podge and then put sand all over. After it dried, I spray painted it different earth colors. Hope that made sense haha.
Man i want to make my own diorama like that but i live in boarding school so when i want to bring it back to my country it feels impossible without breaking the created object

Hey mate, quick question, what type of mask do you use when you're cutting your foam?

@@amusingking you are very welcome 🤗
Man that looks absolutely amazing
Thank you!!
8:56 Yeah, I use a sifter too for my sand effect, though this is quite a few steps up from mine!!
You got me on building my own set ups . Thanks for the easy tutorial, wondering how you made those foam rocks? Let me know thanks

As usual, you do great work

Awesome video and the diorama is sick🔥🔥For the baking soda do you need to use glue or is it fine on its own?

Thank you, it looks awesome. But I didn't understand what kind of stones you use. I am French and my understanding of English is not optimal 😉
Thank you so much! No worries! Which stones do you mean?
@@amusingkingthere are "rocks" that you cut at 0:57

Aw man, that's tough. What about doing small pieces? You can make it modular.
@@amusingking I mostly can do props tho lol
That works!
Whats the measurement of this diorama ,sir?
