im 16 turning 17 in april and im getting the 2015 version soo excited. :)))) gonna be my first car and i want to get it in manual, but im gonna go to a school to learn to drive stick because i dont know ne1 that has a stick shift car
just was at my dealership yesterday and they had two limited, WRB and Grey. Going to head over there today and try and test drive the limited they have there. Showed the GF and she loves it.
price isn't based off speed, a hummer H1 is slow as hell but costs over $60,000 for a 2002 model. so $26,000 for a fun little car that will put a smile on your face is not half bad.
That's a really good looking car, and probably one of the best handling cars available in the market. Congrats man, you really know what's good for driving.
Good luck finding one to test drive. When I test drove one, it was the last one left in the city and the one I drove was already sold to someone else. They're back ordered into next year.
exactly. the other Subaru's (except wrx/sti) are a different story, but the BRZ is meant to be driven hard. the people who buy it are not worrying about mpg, trust me. because the way they will (or should) be driving is gonna give them well below the posted mpg's
Likely because it is a brand new car and requires 'breaking in' before you can explore the full rev range. This process usually takes the first 1000 miles.
Just ordered the Toyota version over here in UK, get it in September. test drove one today, it's very quick, and i tried the auto, don't listen to the clueless ones who say it is slow. I own a Civic Type-R that is considered by most to be quick and a Celica T-Sport (190bhp) and the BR-Z/GT-86 identical to Type-R in straight line and slightly slower than t-sport. Given this cars handling, overrall we have bagged a bargain!
Good on you man. Too many haters replying here with bullshit posts. You got the car you wanted and you love it. I bought an S15 a year ago as that's always been my "affordable dream car" and I love the hell out of it. Saw your parents (?) in the background of the first vid.... obviously got the parents support behind you so without reading all these posts I think it's safe to assume that you either saved up all the money to buy it, or are on an affordable loan. Either way congrats man. Sexy car
It took me about 45 minutes searching through your old videos to find the very first. "Review" of sorts! Pretty awesome that even though you uploaded TONS of car videos prior this, this was your official start to what you do in a way! (Add this in with the Corvette Centennial Edition video editing and music and there you go!) -Chris (been a fan for a few years, maybe longer.) Ps: it was great so see you so happy to get your dream car at the time after checking out so many other's vehicles. This is like a car memory archive!
It makes me happy seeing how much you are enjoying your car! I am still waiting on the ordering for the 2013 STi to open up :( I missed the 2012 ordering :/ Enjoy your car man and keep us updated!
I have to say I test drove the FR-S and it was awesome. Don't know how much better if at all the BRZ is but damn it was a fun drive. 200hp for a 2600+lb car isn't to fast but it was a kick ass drive regardless. Dealer even told me I could turn off traction control if I wanted to "drive it more."
no. I talked to my dealer, the min is the 91 grade, but the car needs 93. On the good side, the gas mileage is amazing. Manual at 30mpg and auto at 34. IMO, it evens out very nicely
Good for you man, I'm really happy for you bro. Sweet car. And screw all of you haters. Bought my first car at 19, 2010 lancer ralliart, used one, but I GOT IT. Teen's can do it. It feels even better when you know you're the one paying for it. It really does make you feel like it's YOUR car. Again, this brz is sweet.
actually the frs suspension has the concept of the ae86 trueno's suspension. while the subaru brz has the old subaru wrx wagon suspension. the brz has a rally-comfort like suspension while the frz has the sport-hard suspension. im not saying the frs is better but thats whats in it in both cars
We got the 86 delivered just a couple of days ago at the Toyota I work at in Australia. It's pretty much just the Subaru. 90% of the parts are Subaru when you look at the engine closely. Waiting for a turbo though...
this car is not about mpg's. and forced induction doesn't necessarily make a significant difference on fuel economy. in fact, it might actually help when cruising since the engine wont have to work as hard. of course, with F/I it will be very tempting to drive like a maniac most of the time.
I was considering this car but after a few test drives i went with the 2010 RX8 W/ 2100 MI on it. The cost of maintenance is more for the RX8 but something out screaming @ 9,500 RPM's around a corner and sliding the back end out appealed to me more. Don't get me wrong I liked the BRZ / FR-S ALOT and they are really great cars but i had to go with the rotary. Good pick of sports car. Have fun and be safe!
The BRZ is developed in conjunction with the Toyota 86, so yeah, that makes one Toyota with a Boxer engine! (And yes the Boxer engine is developed in conjunction with Toyota. Boxer engine itself by Subaru, direct injection technology - D-4S by Toyota) :D
Grats on the car. I'm loving my new subie. I got a WRX cause I need the space but the BRZ is pretty sweet. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
Toyota and Subaru got together on this one, if you look at the engine it has both their names on it. There's a Scion model too, the FRS, not really sure about the story on that one though.
They're actually all slightly different in terms of some of the body work. Even though it's interchangeable there are differences. The Scion is made to be cheaper. Still doesn't answer my question as to whether or not the GT/FT-86 is coming to the US or not...
Congrats!!!!! This car is probably the best partner imaginable for the Legacy Spec.B. They fulfill different roles, but they both fulfill them damn well!! Can't wait to be back in a Subie :)
or turbocharged it, i think it's sports car, doesn't need to go 200mph to consider a sports car and come on for 27k it's a pretty nice car, i also seen these cars are great for drifting and having fun.
im 18 and I just bought a 2013 kia rio lx+... its only 22,000$ albeit but close enough...you just gotta have the right mindset of what you want to do in life and know what to do with a job. I already have an 02 gmc sonoma with a lift kit and tires but now need a sensible daily driver.. so kia it is still keeping the truck though.... cant beat the warranty so yah and no co-signer needed.
no, i am saying this car has good enough mpg to avoid gas guzzler tax and be cheap to drive. the company had those goals in mind, also since they have regulations, etc. they need to follow. the OWNERS buy this because it is an affordable sports car. they might appreciate the good mpg but they are much more excited about its handling capabilities and fun driving experience. thus they will not drive around slow trying to save gas, and many owners might get upgrades that ruin mpg but increase fun.
So what do you think are the tuning upgrades to this car to make it more amazing? It certainly has some very nice style and seems to have the inside well done, but I think a throaty exhaust or something might change things? What do you think.
A fun car is something you want/need to drive. Pot-holes are an opportunity to explore the limits of the car...same can be said for even space witches hats at roadsite constructions sites - or so I've hear. I'm still in the 'Honeymoon Phase' in my 05WRX. Great purchase! Good to see/hear you are happy with it! I'm so jealous!
Hey there love your new BRZ !! I have a 2006 GTI that I bought brand new but its getting old and I'm looking at getting the BRZ or the new Golf-R. Price wise you can't beat what the BRZ is going for. Love the sound and the color !!... How are those skinny Prius tires though? Are you going to upgrade the wheels and tires? Congrats !!
I actually watched your goody bye video of the BRZ first. Sucks you had to let go of it... at the end of this video, when your phone came on for a text, I thought my phone came on,lol.
For all those complaining about its rather small engine you can buy bolt on turbo kits for them for not much at all and because of the prius tires you don't need much more hp anyway
anyway, congratz on the car subaruwrxfan. great choice in both car and color. nice to see you take care of it too, not revving the new engine. when you've broken it in i look forward to some videos thrashing it around mountain roads, or maybe even a racetrack
In the type of environment you live in with those hills and turns you bought the perfect car. Living in Florida all our roads are flat, no hills unless you go to a handful of places, I would love to use this car in that type of environment.
@ That girl saying how he stopped and stared at the middle of the intersection. Pretty sure it was a green light and the opposing car was going to go straight but he left turned causing him to stop, not because he was staring at the car.
i Drive an rx8 and i test drove the frs and they really feel like the same car. the brz is a bit more peppy at lower rpms mostly initial take off but handling feels really amazing on both of them
Great great great ! So cool you shared that experience with us Matt and I love the car. Would be awesome to have a go myself here in germany on those twisty roads where I love to film my reviews, but hey maybe in the future. Funny you mentioned the pipes. They look smaller than the ones I saw on the european versions. So that would be my first upgrade too. Can't wait for more videos and full throttle sounds ! Greetings from germany
Yea I noticed that your tail pipe is much further in than my Toyota GTS 86. That's prob due to the regulation over there in America that that the pipes can not stick out due to some safety regulation.
I don't think lacking horsepower precludes a car designed from the ground up to be a sports car from being an actual sports car. Even if horsepower is lacking, that is something a turbo can easily solve in the aftermarket.
The BRZ is crazy low is crazy low. My girlfriend has a Mercedes c300 which is low to begin with, but parked next to my brz it practically looks like a truck.
Lol how is it not about MPG's? That's why Subaru is going all 2.0L in their all new models. It's not a bad thing, in my opinion and yes Forced Induction does hurt MPG when tuned for only performance. Look at any sports car with forced induction and you will see their MPG rating is lower than their naturally aspirated counterparts. However forced induction can be tuned for efficiency only, like the Ford Ecoboost(Turbo) Chevy Eco(Turbo) and VW TDI (Turbo but Diesel has higher BTU).
Really because I've actually tracked both these cars and my S2000 was better overall. It accelerated faster out of the corners and not surprisingly on the straights as well. It hugged the corners better and had more grip. I found the BRZ handled surprisingly very well also but the power was very underwhelming and it had a lot of understeer. I'd also immediately change out those useless Prius tires for ones that actually grip the road.
I just test drove the 2013 Scion FR-S and the BRZ interior is much better! you have the navigation and it looks really good, I guess I'm going to have to drive the BRZ now haha enjoy the car man!
your lucky to even be able to buy them yourself. I have a job and live on my own yet my parents would be pissed if I bought a car on my own. I'm 22 by the way and just graduated college, but I have a full time job.

Dammit Mitsubishi, you need to remake the 3000gt and quit making your frog eclipses. DAMN.

Enjoy man! It's a great car.
Wills86BRZ i wish u are enjoying by the car now ❤️
Matt I just drove my new brz for the first time, I'm just WOW right there with you I'm in LOVE with it!!
I absolutely love your BRZ...and its even more awesome to see how excited you are to drive it! Can't wipe that smile off yer face..hell yea!
im 16 turning 17 in april and im getting the 2015 version soo excited. :))))
gonna be my first car and i want to get it in manual, but im gonna go to a school to learn to drive stick because i dont know ne1 that has a stick shift car
XfiRated why do you say that? I have a friend who has one and it is very much in the realm of possibility
Toyota has no plans to bring the GT-86 to the US, which a lot of people are sad about. I always wanted the Subaru version though, go figure, haha.
just was at my dealership yesterday and they had two limited, WRB and Grey. Going to head over there today and try and test drive the limited they have there. Showed the GF and she loves it.

I test drove an FR-S today. Needs more power. I have an 09 HHR SS and am not giving up my turbo yet.
I was waiting for this video! Congrats on the car and enjoy in good health!

what a beautiful car!

yea i get u. I just wanted to say driving records can make a huge difference.
make sure you get an exhaust that has at least one resonator in there somewhere. it will sound amazing most likely.
Congrats!!!!!

color looks amazing on that model! Congrats on your new car man, I hope you get many fun years out of it!
Congrats! Love the color. Sounds great as well. Can't wait to see it in person.
congrats my friend! This cas probably was one of the best on the market at the moment! +1!
im 18 and I just bought a 2013 kia rio lx+... its only 22,000$ albeit but close enough...you just gotta have the right mindset of what you want to do in life and know what to do with a job. My S2000 is completely stock except for a set of 17" BBS LMs. Look at this way, in the end it completely depends on who is driving the car.
A fun car is something you want/need to drive. Congrats man!
Such a cool car, nice color too!
Actually, in review after review the FR-S comes out as the preferred performer over the BRZ.
I just came back to this video after watching the brz ts video you just uploaded. Wow... a what trip down memory lane 🙏😅
anyway, congratz on the car subaruwrxfan. great choice in both car and color. nice to see you take care of it too, not revving the new engine. when you've broken it in i look forward to some videos thrashing it around mountain roads, or maybe even a racetrack
Nice video dude and nice car. Looking forward to more videos from you, especially once the engine's fully run in. Enjoy your car! :D
Wow...congrats! I really like your car! Have fun!

Can't wait to get mine. I ordered the white limited 6 spd

i didnt say the frs handles more sporty im saying is the frs has a SPORT-HARD suspension and the brz has a RALLY-COMFORT like suspension

looks insane man!! congrats on the new ride, these things look so good!
Yes, and they might recall it for body panel issues.
Congrats Matt! Can't wait to see it tonight! btw I've never seen a red driveway here in PGH haha

Congrats man, the car looks great! Enjoy it!
your lucky to even be able to buy them yourself. I have a job and live on my own yet my parents would be pissed if I bought a car on my own. I'm 22 by the way and just graduated college, but I have a full time job.
my point is, with sports cars, fun > mpg . if this car put out 50 more hp at a sacrifice of 5 less mpg, it will be worth it to the fans of this car (and performance enthusiasts in general)
depends on ur records. I'm 24 with a clean record and its comign out to $112 and thats with amazing coverage
That's awesome. You are so lucky, I'd love one of these. The colour and wheels are awesome too but I agree that you'll need bigger tailpipes :)
congrats man - I don't know anything about these cars yet, but will there be an STI version coming out?
Congrats man! Your right though a bigger exhaust would def make the back look really nice, also getting rid of wheel gap:D
Love that color!
Check out online BRZ just came out with the hyper blue color
.
I bought the satin white 2015 three months ago the guy said I can traded in if I want
Hmmmmm
It is actually an toyota GT86, the 'new' celica and supra model... Subaru just changed an few things on the outside. But it is made by TOYOTA.
If you get the Limited one like this guy, you're looking at 27.4k. So add a dealer mark up and sales tax you're paying 30k for RWD, 200hp, no turbo, etc etc etc.
Nice. I'm getting same trim and color. Pick her up in a week or so. Cheers!
not that fast by any means, but it definitely is the best looking and it is the BEST around corners. I love the car and with a tune and some mods it has a LOT of potential!! Very good looking car!! Nice choice man!!
It is quite slow for 26k. However, driving experience is amazing for 26k. 200hp at the crank, but loads of fun on the corners.
Those recommended speed signs are designed for cops to do double that when in pursuit. And that's normally accomplished in a Crown Vic.
Congrats man, a really cool car. What kinda gas do you gotta feed that sucker?
It IS the Toyota GT86. Except that this Subaru in blue looks much better. Now I have to figure out why... the spoiler or?
my friend/neighbor got his in Black with the limited edition, DRIVES GREAT!!
Forget these comments, we are all jealous. Everyone handles jealousy differently. For me personally I was a huge 3000gt fan and over the years, there were no two door coupes that even caught my eye... Till the Brz came out. Timeless design such as the 3000gt. Congrats.
Dammit Mitsubishi, you need to remake the 3000gt and quit making your frog eclipses. DAMN.
Nice BRZ, that blue looks amazing, didn't that car sell out really fast?
Wow. Nice!! Can't wait to see videos. How much did it come out to be?
Be sick if they kept the unequal length headers on the exhaust so it still had the Subi rumble. Now it sounds like a straight regular old 4-banger.
the car was created by toyota AND subaru, so you can not say it looks like an 86 because the 86 looks also like a brz. i hate it that people say, its just a copy of the 86, only because toyota is the more common brand.
