Great video mate, completely feel your emotions, I’ve struggled to get over this one massively and I’m really worrying for our playoff aspirations now with the pack of teams in behind us
It's not a derby ffs why you saying it is 🤬
You guys certainly celebrated like you'd won a derby!
@BonkersForBoro nahhh we celebrated the win as we need to keep in touch with the top 3 m8 👍big 3 points and a double 🤭🤭
100% agree with you here
Thanks for commenting!
Never a Derby, the skunks are our derby
Undoubtedly, you were beaten by a better team. GoodLook for the rest of the season though
I think the game was largely quite even, but admittedly your quality in the final third made the difference. Jobe Bellingham and Enzo Le Fee just ooze class.
Yesterday and Sheff wed on boxing Day feel like season defining results to me. Personally ive had enough of Carrickball. We haven't progressed in two years whereas Le Bris has transformed a joke team last season into everything we arent. Hungry, tough, determined. Change in the summer please.
If we don't get top six I wonder if you'll get your wish.
I got the impression at 2-2 that Boro were happy to play for a point. Were they scared of Isidor's pace and Lee Fee? I think so. Boro were excellent for 30 minutes but missed their chances. Carrick never gives credit to opposition and blames decsions, breaks etc. Boro should be in the top six but their defence is vulnerable especially Edmuson who has just been brought in hasn't he?
Also Boro were missing two of their best attackers Latte and Doak.
We definitely seemed happy with a point, but that didn't mean solidifying in defence - it was more just dropping the tempo. So we were still caught in transition and so there can be no complaints that they got the winner in the end, in my opinion.
Sunderland fan here. It wasn't just Le Fee, despite ultimately being the game winner. I think RLB really outsmarted Carrick in the second half, bringing O'Nien a little higher into the halfback role, tightening the midfield and bringing in the defence narrower. Credit to Hackney, who reminds me of Cattermole - stomps about the pitch and keeps things moving, but just doesn't offer *that* much, in terms of all-round ability. Much like your views on Boro and Carrick, as the season's progressed, a lot of Sunderland fans have been worried about inconsistency and/or game management. I was shocked at how the Boro team shied away, after the first equaliser, and looked like they couldn't wait to get for the whistle to go for the first half to finish.
Le Fee reminded me of Juninho, looks a classy!
He looked brilliant, didn't he? Could be a game-changing signing for Sunderland.
NAD
You Smoggies dominated the first 20 mins + because you came out as you should for a "Derby" match - all guns blazing us Mackems for some reason seemed to not treat the A19 Derby with the same respect but it didn't take us long after the first goal to realise our mistake and that changed to whole game - Now go forth and beat Sheff Utd (Please) who knows we might meet again in the Play off's or even the Final - Keep The Faith
Great comment mate. We started well but you really grew into the game and let your quality show in the second half! I have to say, I was really impressed. Rivalries aside, I've got some good friends who work for and support Sunderland so know you're not all bad really 😉
Because its not never has been never will be a Derby...
Boro played alright and showed they can be a threat, but always felt slow physically and mentally at the back. This match finishing as the window had an hour left to close may have been the wake up call that came too late for Boro to strengthen at the back. As a Sunderland fan we've took the hit when being in League 1 and last season, to develop a model of scouting that is designed to work to an overall tactical aystem.
Always a tendency to see the class half full after a defeat especially to local rivals. So there'll be lot of negative comments. I do agree Matt Clarke is as good if not better than George Edmunson. So not sure what's goingon there. Transfer window, the big disappointment to me was not securing another defensive midfield player. As for where Boro should be, according to squad values the should be 5th/6th. Other teams have talented squads too. Highly unlikely MC will be going anywhere, he's seven months in to a three year contract and is able to attract players that other managers could not. Besides it would cost a fortune to get rid. For the second half of the season Boro's squad depth should start to tell. One final thought, IMO we miss McGree, he's maybe not as eye catching going forward but he just gives is extra defensive cover.
I think I recorded this video at a time when I was in a bit of a pissy mood haha. I'm disappointed in the defeat, of course I am, I think that with the transfer window closing and a lot of upheaval in the squad I'm feeling a bit uneasy about it all.
@@BonkersForBoro Basically, I still think we're on the right track. It's the only way to build long term success. I think you're right there is a stubborn side to MC which can be a good thing but can also be frustrating. In terms of management he's still a relative novice and he needs to be more pragmatic at times which he has shown he can be. Chelsea, home in the SF last season, Leicester x 2, he can get the tactics right. Maybe a bit too often he wants to just play the opposition off the park. One good thing is BR and WBA form is nearly as bad as ours.Norwich and QPR even Coventry might be worth looking out for.
Our star players have not been good of late and we have sold our leading goal scorer, what is the point of having ambition if every time you unearth a goal scorer you sell him? Our players in their current form are not a top 2 team, far from it but if we stay in the top 6 and hit form, which we know we are capable of, well it is nearly always the form side that wins. if if if and if not very if'ng confidence inducing is it.
I know we've signed other attacking players who should come good, but Latte Lath will be a huge miss. Such a good player at this level.
This season’s a write off, fingers crossed we have our equivalent of Brentford’s promotion season next year. They sold Watkins and replaced him with Toney, hoping Latte Lath’s eventual permanent replacement will have the same impact
We need those new signings to settle in and quickly.
Told ya giles would score an own goal & we get beat. We were missing dyksteel pace at the back yesterday. Aiyling got torn to absolute shreds esp for pace. 3 rating! For me
Ayling had a really tough night against Enzo Le Fee. I feel quite sorry for Giles to be honest, I don't think he'd been bad until then.
Like One of my favourite movies. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly in that game. What else is there to say Infront, Should of been further in front. Didn't happen, even behind. Then even Looking ominous Then behind Game 🎮 Over 🚀🙄
Yep. We weren't dreadful, but Sunderland knew exactly how to capitalise on our quite obvious weaknesses.
@BonkersForBoro most teams know there's always the possibility of the OMG moments and that's why we aren't top 4. Because we have them regularly. Our strengths walk hand in hand with our weaknesses
Has Middlesbrough's defeat to Sunderland left you worried? Comment below!
Not worried in the slightest will finish 15th
Never a derby
A true Derby is two teams from the same town or city, ie, Liverpool Everton, Forest and County, Manchester United Manchester City.
8 miles a part some sunderland areas have tyneside postcodes and vice versa, Washington is a newcastle and sunderland area so of course its a derby, and it's one of the most intense ones, what about leeds and Bradford?? Or bradford v huddersfield? What you suggest city wise would means nearly all teams wouldn't actually have a derby
@mac1-nf6ic perfectly true.
@mac1-nf6ic Bradford City v Bradford Park Avenue used to be a Derby. But Bradford is Bradford and Huddersfield is Huddersfield. Simple, .
The answer is simple ffs, it's a North East Derby. As is Newcastle, Hartlepool, Darlington, Billingham Synthonia. Stockton fat bellys, and Thornaby Academicals 😅
Mike is one hell of an optimist 😂
God, I hope he's proven wrong tomorrow night!
4-0 Sunlun 😮 Hoping this ages like sour milk 😂
There will be absolute hell on if he's right!
Sunlun ? Spreaken de English ?
By definition of a real derby, Sunderland v Newcastle is not a real derby. Not from the same city. Frankly, I'm not bothered either way
This game all depends on weather boro can actually field any strikers! But if no stikers start then sunderland will batter us! Conway at least needs to be Playing!!
What a load of crap, we have other strikers !!!!!
@AndrewSmoggie like forss is gonna get us goals v scumberland?? Burgzorg??? Don't think so. If Conway is fit then yea we can get goals. Camt afford to loose or draw against scumberland!
@@chrisandrews9300 Forss scored against Sunderland last season.
@@chrisandrews9300 So what about the guy from Plymouth ?
Cheers for having me on 🎉
My pleasure! You're welcome back, but only if we win...
Is Middlesbrough vs Sunderland a real derby? Comment below!
NO!!!!!!!!
Emanuel latte lath has he gone to MLS Atalanta
Not yet, but seems that it's a case of 'when', not 'if'.
Sunderland supporter. It all depends which Boro side turn up. Hoping Ayling plays right back as Robert’s will skin him alive. We will have way too much pace up top for your back line. Sunderland to win 2-1 Ha way the Lads
We are certainly vulnerable defensively - most of all down the flanks, so if you can exploit that then you might get some joy. I think we will cause problems too so I'd be amazed if it was 0-0!
You say Sunderland won't sit back but they sat back in the game at their ground.
Gee people have short memories. When mgree gets a run of games, and form that comes with it, he is our best player. His best position is no. 10. The issue with Riley is he is injury prone.
It's a real shame, isn't it? I feel like I've almost forgotten how good he is because it's been that long since we've seen it consistently.
We will get battered by scumberlsnd! Boro 0 sunderland 3. No strikers up front for us & whittiker will have a lazy stinker for us if he plays. Starts off with us passing it back to the goal keeper fannying about at the back & it goes passed him. Basically an own goal & we go down to men to. Giles sent off
You've been watching Boro for too long!!
2-1...
A wise man, that's what I said!
3 0 to boro
What a statement that'd be!
Fancy a 2-0 win
That'll do me!
Think Boro will throw a spanner into their chances of automatic promotion on Monday...utb
I've got a good feeling about it too...
How will Middlesbrough get on against Sunderland? Comment below!
just watched your piece, you were wrong on just about all your points.
Really?
Thankyou for staying tuned until the end if that's how you felt!!
Given that he commented in the early hours, I can only assume he was in a bit of a snarky mood!
Great update mate! Lots going on, far more than we anticipated, it’s becoming a bit of a mini ruthless overhaul from Boro! Reaffirms our desire to really go for it I think, hopefully the signings work and we can get that promotion!
Thanks mate! Yeah there's heaps more going on than I thought there would but if we keep on like this our squad will be among the best in the division post-January. Michael Carrick will have no excuse if we don't hit top six!
I think Boro would be crazy to sell Gilbert, especially for anything close to 2 million. Had a great end to last season and should be getting more minutes now he is injury free. Should have replaced Azaz well before he did against Preston. He always seems to make things happen. Loan only for me.
I agree, Stephen. As you said, he makes things happen which is a hugely understated skill. Feel like we've only scratched the surface of what he's capable of so selling would be a mistake.
Great to see Mark Travers in hopefully a few days training before a big first start on Monday Night,
I'd certainly have him started! No bigger game to prove himself.
My brother in law is a Brentford fan and he seemed shocked and rather put out that they had let him go so I assumed he was a very promising player.
Alex Gilbert? He's a very good player. I think it'll be a real shame if we lose him permanently this month.
@@BonkersForBoro Aye the lads name would have helped wouldn't it lol, apologies
Travis getting a medical today
Should be a formality!
What deals do Middlesbrough still need to do this month? Comment below!
Centre mid is massive if Barlaser leaves and someone to push Hackney. Ever since he had the captains armband and was playing alongside Barlaser he was poor for me.
@edwardmuir8489 I agree. If we lose Barlaser and don't replace him we will be massively short!
@@BonkersForBoro I think we look lightweight in the middle when the game gets tough, Kamara can certainly fill that and I'd like a player similar to Josh Laurent at Burnley, athletic 6 foot plus footballer in the middle to get hold when the game is getting away from us.
We need 2 keep Djiksteel?
I do think it would leave us a bit short if he did move on.
Frank Spencer, start using 1st names or courtesy titles or else, otherwise go back to School or College !!!!!
Good craic 🙄
@@BonkersForBoro Spreken de English ?
I think we need to strengthen the Manager and Assistand Manager positions, get a team in who can coach and organise a defense as it is possible to attack but still be solid in defence, something Carrick does not understand. Maybe he should have a chat with Scott Parker. It's not just the defensive side of the game with Carrick either sadly, he is incapable of changing things when his Plan A is not working, and I think that is largely because he does not have a Plan B, but his substitutions are often ineffective and also made far too late to influence anything. 3 Wins in our last 11 games is pretty poor by anyone standards.
We're having a brilliant transfer window. If we don't get top six I think the blame can only be pointed in one direction...
