We already have 4 LBs, Bangura, Engel, Borges and Mcormack
I think McCormack could do with a loan and Engel could be a contenders to move on too
Bangura is injured, Engle is shit, Borges is meh and McCormack lacks experience.
Keiran Scott will not want Giles back as that will show up his poor choices. The amount of money wasted on the 3 left backs is crazy, I hope Boro get the deal done.
I think at least one of them would have to leave for this to happen!

There is a big form question over Giles but I will not pretend Giles and Doak in either flank makes me salivate.
You are right about Giles but one man who undoubtedly got the best from him was Michael Carrick. I think he would replicate that form if he came back.
He'd be a very shrewd signing depending on finances tbh. That left side desperately needs to be strengthened, we consistently threatened and did just fine with McGree and Giles that season. UTB. 🔴⚪

I do think we’re definitely losing one of our big players this window but I have no doubts that we will get the right price as my full faith is in the recruitment team

As good as Ryan Giles was at Middlesbrough, you have got to look at his career. He’s now had a disappointing 18 months. He was disappointing at Blackburn before he came to Middlesbrough. He’s had one good season. I don’t want Middlesbrough to break the bank on the memory of a player that has had one good season. You wouldn’t want to spend £12 million on Chuba because he had one good season. We got lucky with his sale.

I don't think Middlesbrough NEED any new signings. I think January will be about seizing any opportunities that happen to crop up...

Yeah, I made a point of saying that I'm not rewriting history - defensively he was vulnerable and to be honest, I'm not convinced that he will offer any more defensively than what Neto Borges does!

@@BonkersForBoro that is the only opinion that matters right now and I sure as shite would view an attacking wing back a luxury in their position. In these situation the first thing is to become hard to beat and you build from that.

I do agree, but while Giles will contribute more I'd actually argue that Borges is better defensively.
Under no circumstance do I want Giles wages for 1. the fact we have 3 left backs already for 2. and for 3. boro fans have to be one of the worst out there for holding feelings for loan players from multiple seasons ago I’d rather stick with Neto and wait till Alex is back fit and then sell engel I think the right back position is more of a problem ageing rapidly and 2out of 3 are out of contract in 6months
