I go to Honda Canada to review the new 2024 Acura RDX A-Spec Platinum edition! Now after living with this decently sized, zippy Japanese luxury SUV I want to let you know whether I would buy one or not. I launch it, tell you all about in on a short drive, then test it out. I take it out on some twisty bits, the highway and parking garage, and then do a quick walk around where I say what I liked...

Thanks for the update! Best wishes to you and the family and I'll look forward to more videos in 2025! Hopefully we can collaborate on more videos in 2025 too!
🤝😊
Test drove a 2024 Golf R with the DSG today. It definitely is weird driving a sports car with an auto but those shifts were pretty quick. I’m impressed with the performance of the DSG and like the ability to be chill and have a normal auto but then you can turn on R mode, and use the paddles to have some fun. I will admit they not having the 3rd pedal and shifter to engage with does make me feel less in control of the vehicle but I think certain cars are better in auto. This is one of them.
Well said. I have both transmissions for VW and agree. I got the manual because I love driving manual but for sure VW put their money into the DSG and it better suits the car.
Saw the Golden Eye Z3 in the BMW Museum at Greer, SC this May, when I was picking up my Z4 manual.
Nice!
God Bless and here’s to a speedy recovery and hope the move goes smooth. Prayers from Colorado!! Looking forward to future videos.
❤️ thank you
I love mine
I bet you do! What a monster
I owned a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire and just recently, an unlicensed driver hit my car. My insurance company totaled it. I'll say this for the car, it's sturdy and drove really well. Heck, I'm buying another one☺️
I forgot to mention my milage was up to, 168,500. Yes! I kept my car in great shape.
Great news story! Sorry that happened but glad you are ok and hopefully you can find another that you like even more. Really is a hidden gem
I run a 13700kf the last bios i updated to was marsh 2024 as far as temps and voltage using a noctua D15 at 100% and case fans at 100% temps when gaming in general is between 65-70c or less core vids around 1.358v ,vcore 1.334v , in bios pl1 and pl2 is set at 253w. cpu lite load setting is at mode 5 and cpu lite load control is set at normal . i dont have any crashes and cinebench 23 score is 30461 and temps at 91c
I’ve got a TLX, and I can say that after having it for a month, the button transmission is something you get use to. It’s actually easier to use once you get use to going from a shifter stick to buttons. They are easy to distinguish because of their shape and all. Regarding the touch pad, yes, it can be a little frustrating at times, however it’s decent and is fully functional at all speeds. Most touch screens lock out some features when in motion. Something to keep in mind. If you can think about those two points, I think it’s an amazing product. Picking up my RDX, same trim as you treated tomorrow. Returning my 3rd TLX for my RDX. The last 3 cars I’ve had all had the button transmission, and it’s better. Less clutter in the cabin and easier to use without looking at it.
Thanks for your comments! I'm still impressed with the SH AWD. I just bought a 2024 Golf R and it has the RS3 torque vectoring AWD and unlike the Acura, mine is not seamless. Most times I can feel the power shift around. Great SUV. Enjoy
ookay
Man I really like the Bronco because of the 2.7 eco boost it can be optioned with.
The car looks like from a Jamesbound movie and sometimes a VW Getta.any cpments.
Really great review. Could you please tell me which one is more quiet (road/wind noise) VW Atlas vs jeep grand cherokee? Thanks 🙏
This is an AWD vehicle that lost track (on its design).
CVT is a sell out
Manufacturers must save a tone of money by using them, because they put them in even though I've never met a single person that actually likes them. Lot's that don't notice and don't care, yes, but honestly I have never met someone who just felt compelled to tell me all about their CVT like a guy with a DSG or PKK would lol!
RF is only 100 lbs heavier. and brings it closer to 50/50. Bonus, it don't look frog.😅
🤣
they recommend premium gas...low octane is not really not good for this engine...pile in as much "tech" as possible...I can't wait to get mine next month.
Congratulations! I really enjoyed my time with it. Hope you have a great experience in your new Atlas.
My grandfather bought a new 1953 Willys along with a matching trailer. He had it until he passed in 1979. My uncle bought a new 2000 Jeep Sahara (before they were called Wranglers) and still has it. I finally bought my first Wrangler, a 2024 Wrangler Sport S.S 2-door. Love it. Hope to keep it as long as my grandfather and uncle have kept theirs.
That's a cool story! Congratulations and I hope you get to enjoy them along time too. Nice thing is, they are built well and have a huge community for support and should have a good part supply down the road.
Stop calling it a F-M engined car. The engine sits right on top of the struts. Not for not aft. Miata and S2000 are a different story
What is the purpose of the Carlin kit, Which Still has a Wire?
I thought the same thing at first, but I think the idea is you plug in it once, pair it with your phone and then it's like having a car with a wireless infotainment. I probably wouldn't leave it plugged in because someone might try and break in to steal it.
You plug it in once And leave it And never have to plug it in again Whether you can leave it plugged in all the time or not depends on your car
I appreciate your review. I've owned a Toyota 86 for 10 years & do alot of city & highway driving & have never felt like I've been blown around. It's always very planted to the road. Are you trying to drive through a cyclone?
Too funny lol! I must be because I definitely felt way more stable in the Miata. Good for you for making 10 years. I just sold mine after 4 years to get a new Golf R. Great car but I definitely miss the BRZ! The 86/BRZ are such great cars!
I'm looking to upgrade it now with either the new BRZ TS/ 86 equivalent, or the new Miata/ MX5 GT RS here in Australia. Yeah I've kept it for 10 years & it has been a really good car but it is time to move on. I don't want anything European, we get smashed with important duties & in my opinion Japanese cars are more reliable. Cheers & keep the reviews coming 😊
Integra
I feel like not many people know that Subaru has always offered the WRX with an automatic
Not at all. Elantra N is the better buy in the 30k range all day.
2400 pounds not 2300 and aluminum head not heads it s a one headed in line 4 cylinder.
2024 Volkswagen Atlas Sports is facing a major mechanical issue with potential engine failure due to damaged connecting rod bearings, which is currently under a recall by Volkswagen; other reported problems include. Some drivers have reported issues with loud grinding, squeaking noises, and inconsistent braking performance. Occasional complaints about problems with the infotainment system, instrument panel malfunctions, and sudden power loss. They just replace the backlogged display while they are working on finding out what is really happening. Some reports of premature airbag deployments or issues with the passenger occupant detection system. Potential issues with fractured rear coil springs. Some users have reported issues with the forward collision avoidance system. Other than that the color blue is pretty.
I have a GRc now but dang do I miss my RS
Interesting!! Good to know.
FANTASTIC video... more!!!!
Thanks for the kind words. Glad it was helpful.
why do they advertise the HUD is full color. its Black/White.
Interesting! I remember messing around with the settings but I don't remember seeing that as an option...I wonder if I missed it. It was clear but agreed it was black and white.
Taking a shot every time Terrance doesn’t say Miata. 😵💫
I own an 04 coupe with 20 thousand km. Sapphire silver over black. Like new.

We have this car. Volume and heat - you just can’t see at all at night. Whose idea was I don’t know. They should be switching this out fast.
Thanks for commenting.
It's really a spectacular vehicle, drove my wife's 22 base GS to the US for the long weekend and was impressed by it's ability to make what is usually a long boring drive..quite enjoyable...75mph was effortless..still carry on a conversation without shouting with the top down. Very impressive fuel economy...jack rabbit starts , semi hooligan antics and still gets 35mpg+ . At 6 foot 3...it's a bit tight...but i wasn't uncomfortable during the 3 hr drive. The sensory overload that you experience behind the wheel more than compensates for any perceived lack of cabin room.
Well said! I really don't think there is a car that can excite like the Miata. I have driven a million cars way faster, but numbers and feel are two different things. I pick how the speed feels all day long. Plus it's amazing how you wouldn't think possible, but "taller" people fit. And it is relatively affordable for the masses unlike most of those "numbers" cars. Very special car.
I’m 52 years old and just bought a MK8 manual for all the reasons you just discussed… Last year 6spd etc. (soon to be mostly electrics right?). My first car was a 1989 Volkswagen GTI, I had two Mazda Miatas both manual and had to give it one last shot at a six speed… I hope the own the car for a long time. I too have been driving automatics for too long and I felt like something was missing and you talking about going out and driving and just feeling the car and feeling at one and relaxing to blow off steam, really brought me back many years. Cheers. Enjoying your channel and previous reviews. It’s too bad we can’t get a Porsche in manual anymore 😢
Thanks for your kind words and comment. Great choices! The Miata is one of my favourite cars ever and the GTI is great. We have a 2015 GTI. I told my wife I am extremely grateful she let me get the R because I am really, really enjoying it. I hope to do some videos with it over the next year and I too hope to keep it a longtime.
Driving manual is the best way for sure we used to have one of each car and then would just fight over who takes the fun car to work lol
🤣 Love it!
I love manuals
Well…. Too bad that the german styling didn‘t make it to germany
I think you hit the nail on the head when it comes to driving a manual! Personally it's all about driving engagement and enjoyment and you just don't get the same feeling from driving an automatic. I don't care about 0-60, lap times, or whatever, just give me a great, fun-to-drive manual transmission.
😊
People are under the false opinion that SUV's are the best vehicle they can own. They typically are not! They are heavier, have significantly worse fuel economy, more prone to flip-overs in an accident due to the higher centre of gravity, and more expensive to maintain, as their bigger tires, brakes, and suspension components can wear out faster, and cost more to repair. Insurance typically costs more, and the AWD is rarely needed for the majority of urban commuters, and just adds significant cost and weight. Unless you need a larger vehicle for towing a trailer, they are over-kill for the typical buyer. Manufactures jumped on the bandwagon, and churned out these up-sized hulks, with low-tech suspensions and powerplants, and huge mark-ups. There vehicles make huge profits for their manufacturers, and the huge mark-ups are driven by consumer demand, and NOT by added content, when compared to a typical sedan. Feels low?? It's as high as you are, so I have no clue why it would 'feel low'... I currently own my second VW Jetta, so I'm familiar with VW's typical good quality. I'm also experienced with driving large full-sized vans for several decades, so I know the pros and cons of driving a larger vehicle, and will ALWAYS choose the better-handling smaller vehicle when given a choice. How exactly did 'Tech ruin the Atlas', or was that just click-bait...??? Just lame...
I do agree and personally bought a new Golf instead of a similarly priced and equipped Atlas. I would rather pack light and have a more fun driving experience. That said everybody and their neighbour seem to be buying SUV's, and for those folks like myself that would be going in kicking and screaming lol, I want to tell how it drives. I have been fortunate to test a lot of these contraptions now (including off camera) and the Atlas does drive smaller and seems easier than most it's plump size. As far as the title goes, one of the most catastrophic corporate blunders in recent history was VW's launch of the current infotainment found in the Atlas. So I was posing the question of whether or not this failed system ruined a beloved vehicle known for its ease of use. I personally don't think it did. My Golf has it and I totally understand the frustration with it, but it isn't all that bad. Thanks for commenting.
Wondering why the headlights appear to be flashing?
Good question. The light flickering in a video is because the frames per second recording of the camera is not aligned with the frequency of the electricity. This is known as the 'strobe effect'.
@@Neutralreviews Thanks for that!
@@tv-cx8gv 😊
A couple years ago, I rented a Camaro for a weekend road trip. It was a V6 hard top, 2017 (cant remember the model). The handling and comfort alone was incredible. I knew I had to own one! Fast forward to 2 weeks ago - I'm now the proud owner of a '17 2SS convertible. Its the nightfall gray color. Only had 17k miles on it. Not the 1LE but couldnt find one. I am beyond satisfied with it!
Congratulations! It was worth the wait! Such a fun car.
😂😂😂 🚮
Love my 2006 Limited Crossfire Coupe now 70,000 miles no issues.
Love to hear it! Such a fun car!
You numbers are off, loaded x3 way more money, and why compare to an electric suv?
Not sure on what's you mean by the numbers being off because I provided screenshots from Acura's official website. Unless you didn't realize it was in Canadian. Unless you meant something else. And I agree on the EV but I reviewed one and I could see someone who likes the size, zippiness and luxury of an RDX but wants to try electric liking it.
Excellent review1
Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to comment!
I own this car and it's the most fun car on the market!
I am happy for you! Such an amazing vehicle.
2008 infinti g37xs, sandbags and a good set of winter tires will get you through a winter in Edmonton.
Good call:)
Acura ;) for me anyway
Me too!
Still have my 2005 Limited Sapphire Convertible Roadster, and it's in pristine condition with only 40k miles. I drive it on weekends during the summer and occasionally in the winter when the weather is decent. It's almost 20 years old, and I still can't go anywhere without someone stopping to ask about it. I'll be honest, though: I'm not a huge fan of the coupe. To me, the convertible has a completely different look. When they stopped making these in '08, I told people who criticized them that one day they would be remembered as one of the most underrated cars of all time. You have to own one to understand, and they're so much fun to drive.
Well said. Such a great car. I sold these new and can't believe they are nearly a classic now. It's fun to have a car that engages people.
Great review. I absolutely love my Shaker Scat daily driver. The stock exhaust has such a fantastic muscle car sound without drone. I chose the Scat over the Hellcat because I drive daily on the street, not a race-prepped track, and spinning ain’t winning! On the streets, the Hellcat is impractical, and the Scat will definitely give it a run between stoplights for much less cost, and that awesome shaker hood!
Great comments and I agree!
This was such a fun car to experience and film! Honda has always done a great job with the user inputs, performance and handling of their vehicles but I'm still floored by just how good the dynamics are! This is truly the GT3 of front wheel drive cars but yet it comes in such a practical package with CUV rivaling space and comfort. This Honda fan boy is thoroughly impressed!
