This was such a fun car to experience and film! Honda has always done a great job with the user inputs, performance and handling of their vehicles but I'm still floored by just how good the dynamics are! This is truly the GT3 of front wheel drive cars but yet it comes in such a practical package with CUV rivaling space and comfort. This Honda fan boy is thoroughly impressed!
Swap the ADM of the Acura to the R. Seamless. I have a 24 R. Totally better riding car. Doesn’t affect anything in the computer. Like it came stock. I did it at 200 miles. Best $300 ever spent. Takes 20 mins. Simple. 5K more for the Acura. No thanks. I got it for msrp. The Acuras I looked at they wanted $5K over msrp. With the ADM change it’s a bargain. Yeah the exhaust is more aggressive in the Acura, but the pops don’t do it for me. Saved $10K.
Great question! I originally picked it a few months ago because my manual BRZ barely depreciated over four years and this being the final year for manual I was hoping for the same thing. Also, I have a MK7 GTI and know the car would work on a practical level for me. Also, to be honest price. The Golf had basically half the rate and I get a loyalty bonus of free maintenance for a few years. Plus, after reviewing the Si, I knew the Civic platform was too big for me. I'm a baby/short and don't like parking/maneuvering longer cars lol. The Type R and S are more connected and engaging but considering I rarely do track driving I get more value out of the more expensive and well appointed interior of the R. For instance, memory, heated/ventilated seats, 3 zone climate control with heated rear seats/5 seater, AWD (snows a lot where I live and those FWD monsters would be a handful even with good snow tires). R isn't perfect, but it is super fast, practical, attractive and a good overall value.
@Neutralreviews interestingly the Golf R is much cheaper than both the Type S and Type R considering how many more amenities it has as you listed. I'm in Canada, we get a lot of snow too and I had a MK7 Golf R, so I totally get why you'd choose one over the Type R/S that most people won't track anyways. And the Golf is way faster! Good choice, great car... just curious!

Interesting! Thanks for the great info
So why did you pick the Golf R over this Type R or Type S? Other than the bumpy ride and not so great cupholders? Love the Golf R, just wondering....
