    I had a lightbulb moment watching this. I finished my training back in August 2023 and I have lost count of how many jobs I have applied for since. I am l yet to be shortlisted for an interview. I have been racking my brain for what I have been doing wrong and I think your experience aligns with mine. My confidence is at an all time low and reading over my personal statement I can see that it is riddled with self-doubts. Thank you for this and your videos covering writing personal statements. Seeing that my experience is not wholly unique has already helped me a lot. Fingers crossed that my next personal statement gets me an interview.

    @Petite Primary Help! I have a task and am not sure how to deal with it: Behaviour Scenario It is the first lesson on Monday morning in your Year 5 classroom. After children have completed their morning task, it is time for the weekly spelling test. A boy who is known to have SEMH difficulties begins to disrupt the test with low level distractions such as making quiet, silly comments for others to hear and tapping his pencil repeatedly on the table whilst swinging on his chair. Half way through the test, he refuses to complete the rest of his test and closes his book and folds his arms. He then gets more agitated and slides the book off the table and announces "I'm not doing the test because the test is stupid and I'm stupid!" This disrupts the lesson again. This escalates and he gets up, kicks the table leg, walks across the room to the door, knocking two pencil pots over from other tables. He leaves the room and slams the door and shouts “Leave me alone!” What approach do you take when dealing with behaviour? How would you deal with each level of this behaviour? What would you do after they left the room? What could be the reasons for this behaviour? Is there anything you could for this little boy prior to the behaviour happening?

    I did my PGCE in 1999/2000 at Sussex University. I have a LOT of criticisms of the PGCE as it was conducted back then. The course seemed very unstructured and basically directed by Government policy as opposed to educational factors. We had these ridiculous box-ticking exercises. It was clear to me that our lecturers came in totally unprepared. I remember the very first lecture at university. This guy came to the front and began spouting about education and said "what is a concept" repeating this multiple times. I remember thinking that he wanted us to guess what was in his head. The way they taught us and the way they expected us to teach kids were diametrically opposed. The hypocrisy of telling us to prepare to a forensic level then at the same time to teach us totally unprepared did not go unnoticed. The "mentor" in my first placement was clearly judgmental and I detected this as soon as I met him. He never offered me any encouragement nor gave me positive feedback. The PGCE experience nearly destroyed me. My mistake when I started my PGCE was to tell them that I was gay and I honestly think that they shared this with the schools I did my placements with. I had "come out" 6 years previously and was still of the naive opinion that I should be honest about it. I was once observed by one of the tutors from the university and he told me that I should not be a teacher.

    When LDS children start going to school with non-church members some start questioning what they are taught. These children are then labeled defiant or troubled teens. If the parents or church cannot get them back under control they are put into troubled children’s schools/camps etc. Now I have lived all over the USA and I have never seen anything like this. You do not have to have any formal training to work at any of these type places. No background checks, no finger printing, no schooling etc. These children are tortured and abused even more than what they experience at home. Many commit suicide. When outside media gets involved the state will shut them down but they pop right back up under another name and owner. It is incredible how they get away with this. Police when called will tell you the parents have the right to punish their child however they see fit. School teachers and school administrators when confided in are supposed to alert DCFS/CPS but don’t as they are usually friends with these parents through their Ward. They instead tell the parent EXACTLY what they have been told and make it severely worse for the child (ren). Shari the oldest daughter said she had tried for years to get DCFS to do something but they never would. Siting that they Insufficient evidence. When a small child cannot communicate they will do nothing. Even though there is physical evidence to support the claim. Utah especially Southern Utah is very messed up. It is not about what the parents do but more about WHO THEY KNOW 🤝 iykyk

      Hello, just going through your videos. I’m from Pakistan and my qualifications equivalent to Master Uk. I had applied for pgce biology and going to appear for my interview this Tuesday. Question is they asked me to prepare 5minutes presentation. They haven’t given me any topic. What to do?

  • @HybridReal
    @HybridReal 5 місяців тому

    What would you say is the easiest starting point. I know it’s a tough career, but I want to ease into it. Get a grasp of how the courses go and the training. Note: I’m not into university. So if you can advice whilst avoiding university options, that would be great. But if it’s not possible get into teaching full time without university experience: then I understand and I’ll have to bite the bullet. Thank you in advance.

      You do require a degree unfortunately, however, a teacher training apprenticeship is currently being discussed, so do research in case that seems more up your street!

    My daughter was having terrible periods. She saw a gynecologist during covid. Had a covid test. Negative. Was operated not even a week later. A hysterectomy. Cut from side to side. Came home 2 days later. Also had to inject for 5 days. Never took any pain meds. Drove after 4 weeks and was back at work. Hope you get well soon.

      It baffles me how a person can just get a hysterectomy within a week. Your daughter is so lucky. I complained to my family GP for years and finally saw a gyno in 2020 after being on a waiting list for 4 years. I had exploration surgery to find out what was wrong in 2021. That surgery was supposed to be 30 minutes but it ended up being 4.5 hours because they discovered I had severe endometriosis, adhesions, uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps and an ovarian cyst that ruptured during surgery. I was also diagnosed with adenomyosis and PCOS. They STILL refused to do a hysterectomy because I was 30 and haven’t had children. I was born disabled, have multiple disabilities and chronic health issues. I don’t think it would be right for me to have children even if I wanted them, but I don’t want kids! I am suffering for no reason and being treated like I am some human incubator. Last year I was diagnosed with cancer and during a whole body scan to check for cancer spread, they discovered 10+ tumours in my liver. Turns out the continuous use of the pill without breaks caused my liver issues. Now I cannot use any of the hormone methods, have become severely anaemic (losing half a litre of blood every period, twice a month) and have no other choice but to have a hysterectomy. Sometimes I bleed for up to 8 months non-stop. Due to my disabilities, the only exercise that I can do is hydrotherapy in the pool. Now I can’t even do that…. I am bleeding more often than I am not. I am finally putting my foot down and literally going to BEG for a hysterectomy. Sorry for the long rant, I have just been through a lot of unnecessary suffering just because I am a woman.

    Poor you. I had to have a hysterectomy 9 years ago (at least I had 1 child!). I understand the scary major surgery thing. Do take it easy and don’t rush back to work. Have a phased return to as you will be tired easily. I hope your recovery isn’t to bad.
