    Best warranty, I replaced a GLX from reckless breakage. It got smashed, by my stupid brother in the car. They still replaced it, I also replaced a Shimano Cumara. Gloomis rods are still the best. I only buy rods with ridiculous warranties unless it's like a Ugly stick. For river smallie bass, I will be using a Ugly stick spinning rod and a shallow crank, this is my go to. I only use sensitive graphite for slow presentations, where feel is important like jigs or worm, so GLX. For baitcaster cranking rods, I have a Lucky Craft JDM rod and a Kistler. I have a Shimano Poison swimbait rod, it's big and heavy, It went on sale I think at TW. It's close enough to a Megabass. If you wanted me to jig fish with a Ugly Stick, I would quit. Once you use a G Loomis for Jigs, you are a damn snob for life. I own about half a dozen of those rods. I got too much bass gear right now, too many mid range combos. I should get rid of like 3 bass combos maybe I could use some inshore combos. For reels I have mainly Shimano, not Daiwas. I do have some Abu Garcia and some Quantums, the Shimano are just better. Abu seem to last forever, so them or Shimano I would do only. I have one Shimano baitcaster from like 1984, a bantum Magnumlite, It still works absolutely fine It's 40 years old. My Dad has Abus that are older than me, so do his friends. His boat is older than you. The other reels just seem to fall apart just sitting there over time, Quantum and Daiwa. I look for long term investments I can still use if I am like 80, It's better to spend a lot on only a few reels, instead a bunch of 100$ reels, those won't last you forever. 200-300$ should last forever, unless it's a Quantum then I don't know. I bought a couple exo baitcasters, we will see how those hold up, but that was a 2 for 1 thing, one is a 300 size for Muskie. Those should be alright, I don't fish a lot of muskie or swimbaits.

    • @campetro10
      @campetro10 2 місяці тому

      Love the info! Agree with you all the way. Shimano and gloomis all the way for bottom contact and finesse baits. You get what you pay for. If you spend a little more on the front and take care of them they will last forever.

When you throw those over bigger soft swimbaits? What conditions are you looking for to throw those glides, water visibility, wind, how fish are they setting up on sonar? @@campetro10 oh I meant to also say, if I really wanna get finesse with the Neko, I put on a bold bluegill robo worm using a small vmc band. Only problem is there, you pickup more smaller fish including bream. 😂

    Hey Cameron! I’m also a local Lanier guy. What a great time to be on the lake…during the week I mean. The weekends are nuts !!!😂 I too started using an open J hook on my flukes since last yr. Makes total sense in open water for better hookups. And yes, that Cast prodigy and echo are hot items! QQ- do you find during shad spawn that paddle tail or none, work best? Thanks and God bless!

      No kidding!😂 The weekends now will be rough. Got to get up early to beat all the boats. Excellent, glad to hear. Great question, I lean towards no paddle tail now through end of summer for the most part. The herring and bass are now much more active and I feel a split tail can be worked much faster and more erratic than a paddle tail. Don’t get me wrong a paddle tail can still work however 9/10 times now I’m reaching for a straight or split tail swimbait style lure in those situations.

    My tail gets caught on the sweet bait and fouls up

      hmm thats a bummer. what is it getting caught on the hook? i would try switching your hook brand or hook size on the back hook to eliminate that. OR put on a new tail that is a slightly different length

    Dude, you are so RIGHT!! the rooster tail bite on Lanier is AMAZING -- this is my top bait all Spring. White rooster tail is my number 1 go-to bait (you can substitute a Mepps #3 blade in white or white and red) - rocky points, timber, back of bays, rooster tail will catch them EVERYWHERE on Lanier.
