Thank you so much for posting these videos. I’m not on avid fisherman. But when I fish, I always fish Lake Lanier. I have the hardest time getting a bite let alone catching a fish. it appears I’m definitely using the wrong baits. Your videos are a huge help to me so thank you.
Glad they help! Hopefully you continue to build confidence and success especially fishing Lanier. It is a difficult lake to learn but it has so many fish!
Dude, you are so RIGHT!! the rooster tail bite on Lanier is AMAZING -- this is my top bait all Spring. White rooster tail is my number 1 go-to bait (you can substitute a Mepps #3 blade in white or white and red) - rocky points, timber, back of bays, rooster tail will catch them EVERYWHERE on Lanier.
I haven’t used the rooster tail during the shad spawn but I’ve always done something similar. When the bass refuse to bite my flukes then I put a spoon in their faces. Work it like a jig but super aggressive. Sometimes it will throw the whole pack into a frenzy. We have packs of rock/sand bass here that school up after the spawn like crappie. You can get them fired up with a spoon the go back to the fluke and put the pack in the boat.
When is your tournament on Chatuge? we just had our FOM tournament up there but we hit it on a rough day. only took 16lbs to win it. ill have our tournament video up from Chatuge hopefully next week! ill be fishing Allatoona this fall
I forgot to thank you for you response and info for fishing Lanier two weeks ago. I fished a day and a half and caught bunches of spots and several largemouth. Thanks again.......can't wait to get back down their. Beautiful place. Blessings
Thanks for the video. I love fishing the rooster tail but get made fun of and told it’s a rookie move. Love this time of the year to display my rooster tail dominance!
I've been using a rooster tail on lanier for almost 30 yrs. Mainly this time of yr and on windy fall afternoons. I like the 3/8 Oz as it casts a mile and you can use a baitcaster.
Solid info! Fishing a weightless fluke quickly like a jerkbait near the bank this time of year is so fun - they will blow up on it like a top water! But it also gives you the option to let it slowly sink and you can get that bite as well.
Cameron I fish the rooster tail a lot too. I have for years for fall schoolers and herring spawn as well. I like to add a clear fishscale hologram blade sticker to the blade on some too.
Hey Cameron! I’m also a local Lanier guy. What a great time to be on the lake…during the week I mean. The weekends are nuts !!!😂 I too started using an open J hook on my flukes since last yr. Makes total sense in open water for better hookups. And yes, that Cast prodigy and echo are hot items! QQ- do you find during shad spawn that paddle tail or none, work best? Thanks and God bless!
No kidding!😂 The weekends now will be rough. Got to get up early to beat all the boats. Excellent, glad to hear. Great question, I lean towards no paddle tail now through end of summer for the most part. The herring and bass are now much more active and I feel a split tail can be worked much faster and more erratic than a paddle tail. Don’t get me wrong a paddle tail can still work however 9/10 times now I’m reaching for a straight or split tail swimbait style lure in those situations.

I didn’t see a link to the under spin mod. I would like to see your modification
thanks for catching that! I now have the underspin hack video linked both in the video and below in the description of the video. 👍

Hey Cameron
Can you post the name of bait where to purchase? Thanks for your information!
of course! which bait specifically are you interested in? i can then point you in the right direction based on the lure and company that makes it.
Both of them
