You guys are spot on. The growth of classic physique is what brought me back to bodybuilding. The look, posing, overall vibe and achievable condition without having to die for it. The open guys are too bulgy all over even when conditioned. Just freaky but not what a perfect physique strives to be. I’m a golden era guy at heart.

Thank you so much for this informative, educational interview. It is important to understand what it takes to be a top tier competitive bodybuilder. You can still build a "respectable" body without gear, just not "Olympia quality".

I met Dennis Tinnerino 1st in the early 80s at an Expo in SoCal. I told about a couple of authentic Italian bakeries. I'd run into him from time to time, he always remembered my name. I was just another younger Italian gymrat to him I guess, but he'd warn me to about not getting caught up in the craziness etc. He was never preachy, just always very decent to me. Same with Bill Pearl meeting him at Expos off/on, he talked us young hungry gymrats like friends.

I believe the bodybuilder you're trying to think of is Jim Morris, and the last open to the public gym Mr.Pearl owned was The Pasadena Health Club.

Fascinating show, you guys went from Rambo to AI seamlessly. I have written an academy paper on "Technological Singularity, it would be pleasure to come on your show and talk about it. (Happy to provide evidence). I am also an avid Bodybuilder for many, many years (I am old), I loved Mike Mentzer's theories on training. It does lift my heart when Jon R. talks about Mike. Great work keep it up!

Love the show but miss the early episodes when you’d have entrepreneurs within the industry on to tell their story and talk business.

Look at the pro wrestlers of today. Gone are the Scott Steiner’s or Batista’s, the guys look like CrossFit athletes. None of these guys are jacked anymore

Great show 💪 I agree Bumstead is not a showman like Arnold he is a very cool, authentic and a bit boring. Bumstead is almost like the everyday man with a fantastic physique which makes him and his journey so fantastic to watch.

I disagree Bumstead needs to make a run at the Mr Olympia. I don’t think he needs to put on a lot of weight. Chis isn’t going to look the way he looks forever anyway. I think he’s big enough to do it. He will be bringing his aesthetics. That’s his strength. Even with the extra weight he will be the most aesthetic guy up there. It could propel him into the main stream and could make him the closest thing to Arnold out there. Bring this topic to Iron Rage, John.

Great show guys ! I'm 62 and have trained since I was 13. I never got close to your levels, but I still pick myself apart all the time! Biceps thickness has always been a problem for me. Maybe there's hope after listening to this show!😂💪😂👍
