Great show Rich and John. Bill is a true legend and I hope he’s remembered for a long time. Bill was actually a 4x Mr Universe (1953, 1961, 1967 and 1971). Wikipedia is wrong again. 😮
I met Dennis Tinnerino 1st in the early 80s at an Expo in SoCal. I told about a couple of authentic Italian bakeries. I'd run into him from time to time, he always remembered my name. I was just another younger Italian gymrat to him I guess, but he'd warn me to about not getting caught up in the craziness etc. He was never preachy, just always very decent to me. Same with Bill Pearl meeting him at Expos off/on, he talked us young hungry gymrats like friends.
08:15 Aspiration pneumonia. My formal education is in Respiratory Sciences. Unfortunately I have seen exactly what you are talking about Rich. I am sorry you had to witness that decline.
What's hilarious is in 1971 when he beat sergio and Zane he was claiming that he was drug free.. So you're telling me that he beat a drugged up sergio Olivia who was at the peak of his career without using anything? Thats total BS...thats a big BS
Great show again and keep up the good work

Great episode, awesome stories! RIP Bill. Also John, the previous episode was #71, and that's what you labeled this one too.

Sad🙏🏻
I believe the bodybuilder you're trying to think of is Jim Morris, and the last open to the public gym Mr.Pearl owned was The Pasadena Health Club.
