It is very interesting to see how you water your collection. I have a much smaller one and it takes me a lot of time to do it. I will try to follow your approach.
Looks so familiar back when I had good quality water... now, well, many years ago I showed you how I water mine, and gage when they need to have their reservoir filled etc etc. Still doing that and IF I have to water all of mine in a single sitting, then I am out there approx 45 minutes as well. Flushing!!! 😍
I just found your channel and enjoyed watching several videos. I was so happy to learn that you’re in NYC. I’ve been following Missorchidgirl for years and learned so much, however growing orchids in my upstate NY climate is so different. Thanks for posting, I’m planning to watch the rest of your great videos.
Thank you so much for this video! It was very informative. I am in the midwest so MOG's methods don't always work for me as she is in a dry climate. Thus was extremely helpful.
Your watering is so near and organized! I look like a crazy person spraying everything with my hose. lol. I grow outside in the pergola in Miami. I end up “watered” myself. Heheh
Nice, I use both a regular watering pump and the gallon pot to water my orchids. I have notice I cannot mist my collection because some will begin to get black rot for some reason. Maybe when I did this… my humidity was high that day… who knows. 😊 Ne safe Nicole! 😊❤🌸🌷👏👏👏 PS. I do have fans everywhere lol 😆.
Thanks for watching Ileana! The misting definitely depends on how high the humidity is for sure! If too high, it's better to not mist. Thanks for watching :))
Thanks for another great video. I was wondering if the electric sprayer would clean the leaves of my aroids. You have mentioned that you have some aroids also. Have you ever tried this?
Thanks for watching! The sprayer can definitely drench the leaves and has settings where it can make a stronger jet spray, so I do the it's possible to clean the leaves of aroids with it! Doesn't hurt to try it :)
That's a lot easier than dragging all your orchids to the kitchen. Wow! I decided I need that sprayer but the link you left doesn't work. I think I found one though. Thanks!
I flush the orchids with regular tap water to get out accumulated salts, but for semi hydro with self watering, I give it fresh nutrient mix right after flushing because the inorganic media on its own doesnt have any. Orchids in organic when you flush them you don't need to fertilize them because as the bark / moss can provide some nutrients, the leca cannot. With that said it's also ok to just put it in water that week with nothing IF, the plant is resting in winter and not growing.
Hi, do you use Cali-magic in your waterings process? orchid growers said it works well for orchids, do you have any video showing how you prepare your water with fertilizer? You’re very lucky that you can use just tap water, i bought the zero water filter for my orchids and when I can collect rain water I use just rain water they like it I even had collected snow in the pass for them and defrost to use, so I just decided to buy the water filter for them Tap water here in NJ is hard not good for orchids. I’m also trying to make everything more manageable this time with my beloved orchids ☺️
Sometimes I use it! Not always but once in a while. I did a video a few years ago just search for nutrient mix (I think or Fertilizer) on my channel. I am not fussy with my nutrient mix anymore, just mostly MSU fertilizer and maybe every few weeks some cal mag :) I'm sorry to hear about your water. I'm definitely fortunate! We have great water here :)
WHAT?! Forty five minutes to water 200 plants? Wow! I have less plants and it takes me hours, even if I put a smaller amount of water on them. I tried the moss and bark tip for the orchids. That seems to work with all of my orchids except the vanda - I rotted the roots because the moss held too much moisture….
Vandas are tough. I have them in clay pots to give them more aeration. I try to move quickly with the watering, just a few seconds per pot. With that said, flushing takes me so long 🥲
Thanks for posting this video. Sometimes I need to see exactly how it’s done. When you mist your Phals are you not worried about water settling in the crown? Do you think a fan would help prevent crown rot? 🩷
Thank you for watching! I actually have a fan oscillating 24/7 and it's about 80 degrees in the room with the lights on so the mist dries out very quickly, I haven't had any of my phals rot because of this thankfully given the air and warm indoor temps. If it were a lot cooler and no fan, there would be issues with this.

😘❤️
Nice. I really need to get a habit of flushing.

What a beautiful collection!
Your a great lady. I'm so attached to my orchids ..
Really informative
Exactly how I water my orchids. Thanks for the video!

Nina!! 😘! I remember that video on watering. Flushing is such a daunting task 🥹 I hope you're doing well ❤️🤗

I like your electric sprayer. I never spray my orchids so I need to get one. Great video, and time saver. Thanks for sharing this. 🥰❤️
Thanks for watching ❤️

Hi Nicole, great video, nice and easy! Thanks for sharing. Do you have any fan in your shelves?
I do, I have a standing oscillating fan in the corner of the room! :))
That's a lot easier than dragging all your orchids to the kitchen. Wow! I decided I need that sprayer but the link you left doesn't work. I think I found one though. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know! I'll update the link. Happy growing 💗
I wish I could water this fast. I have about 80 phals and it takes me hours to water.
I thought the reason for flushing was to flush out excess salt and fertilizer. Doesn’t using fertilized water defeat that purpose?
I flush the orchids with regular tap water to get out accumulated salts, but for semi hydro with self watering, I give it fresh nutrient mix right after flushing because the inorganic media on its own doesnt have any. @@NicoleDeanna thanks for the clarification!

Have you ever used mayo to clean phals leaves. Vs Aloe gel..??
I haven't! I just run leaves through water normally
I guess a tiny mayo would just shine.. banana peels work greatly...
I like your setup, where did you get the shelves from?
Mostly Amazon, check out the description for links to most of the products I use ❤️
