TikTok Shop Running Shoes - 1KM PB Attempt & Trainers Review
Great video mate and great run. The point of Crampfix is that it tastes bad. For some reason, having something that tastes bad temporarily alleviates cramp. The leading theory is that cramp is a neuromuscular protection mechanism: your brain stops your legs from working properly to stop you running yourself to death. Ultramarathoners often have a sachet of mustard when they get cramp. Have tried it and it works instantly. Crampfix obviously goes for a similar strategy. Maybe the awful taste diverts mental resources away from the legs and towards the mouth (maybe the brain thinks it's being poisoned...), but I don't think anyone knows conclusively yet. But cramp is just a symptom of being undertrained (it's not dehydration or lack of electrolytes). If you've done the training (very long runs at fast paces), your body won't need to activate the protection mechanism.
Oh wow, I did not know that. I thought my satchet had gone off! I appreciate the insight!
Great channel, you should try Perry Hall Parkrun.
Cheers! I shall add it to the list ❤️
@@Mack.Tracks trying to beat my PB 21.40 from last year. Thanks for sharing your experiences have same challenges. I go out too fast too but considering negative splits..
AH! Racing your camera's battery life. Relatable. A good reason for running faster :)
I know, right!
It's only a matter of time until you get it. Keep training.
I had another attempt the following week, if you want to check out my more recent video ❤️
Somehow missed this. What a brilliant effort after such a lay off...that finish too!!
Cheers, Dean! Jaz has got a few parkruns in this year already, so things are continuing to look up... Will provide an update soon as we build up to the Gloucester 10K!
Where do you buy your shoes?
Vinted!
I am a vinted running shoe man myself 😅 There's so much out there and some are bloody expensive and not worth buying to find out there not right for me so that's where vinted comes in. Picked up some right bargains too .. a few duds aswell along the way but hey ho. Stick them back on vinted 😂
Glad I’m not the only one, haha 😅
Why stop at 7?! Go for the full 31 pairs so you can have 1 pair for every day of the month 😂
I like this idea, haha 😮
Are you Running Adventures in disguise? I think you might have more than me!
🙈
Great stuff Mack - some bargains there! Also a Vinted fan, got a few running tops and leggings off there too - cheaper and better for the environment… what’s not to like?! (Until you over do it 😅)
I'll certainly be revisiting when my year ban is over, haha!
@@Mack.TracksOnly a year? 😉
Why did you have to make this video? I'm in recovery and just swore I wouldn't buy any more shoes 😂 Best deal I got with FB marketplace + Ebay was Adios Pro 3 for £75. Vinted seems like a whole other level of bargain hunting. Thank you, but I also hate you.
Sorry, not sorry 🙈
I have a Vinted problem too…. I can’t stop selling stuff 😂
To be fair, we (Jaz) have done a fantastic job clearing out the house and storage unit. Money for the Chicago fund, ooft!
BTW what adidas UK size do you take? I am UK 13.5 which is the same US 14 or 32 cm as Nike UK 13. Annoyingly the Sen 10 and now Adios Pro 4 only seem to come in their UK 13 or 14 which is like the non existent UK 12.5 or UK 13.5 in say Nike. Anyway have ordered a UK 13 in the Adios Pro 4. Will have to see if feels a bit short 0.5 less than normal.
I've found 12.5 to be the sweet spot for me in Adidas, though the SL2 pair is in 13 (due to reviewers recommending sizing up). Takumi Sen 9/10 in size 12.5 feels a little short, but I don't necessarily mind the "race fit" for what I'll be using them for (5K/10K/Track). Adios Pro 2/3 both feel good in 12.5 with enough room for swelling at marathon distance. Thankfully, a lot of places have decent return policies, so I've taken to just ordering multiple sizes to try on. I've experienced enough inconsistencies between shoes of the same size, especially with Nike, that the extra initial bit of faff is worth it.
@@Mack.Tracks I always used to be UK 12.5 in adidas (or 12 in Nike) but had to be as until recently never came in any bigger - well certainly in the adizero shoes. Now realise they were too small even if "could" run in them. Think now got used to shoes in that bigger size and in the Nike 13 or adidas 13.5 I probably have a few mm to play with as it were. Sounds like your feet maybe a fraction shorter than mine. FOD Runner is normally also a UK 13 in Nike or 13.5 in adidas but his feet are a fraction longer so finds some (especially the adidas ones) can come up a little short for him.
Excellent stuff 👏👍 some beautiful bargains there. Well done 😁
Cheers, Kieron. I know you're a fan of the app!
I think it's more of an addiction 😂
What UK size did you say you are? I look on Vinted at shoes waaaay too much.
UK 13 he replied to me same as me well in Nike anyway. I ought to put some on there to sell myself. Got way too many bought and then did like too much! Have sold a few through eBay before as auctions.
I'm size 13 in Nike and Saucony. 12.5 in Adidas. 12 in Asics (though I'd go for 12.5 if the size was offered, hmm!)
@@Mack.Tracks Ah that might explain the prices I suppose! I'm a UK 12, still a few bargains to be had but not quite as many. Just picked up a pair of basically unused Puma ForeverRun for under £30. Vinted is dangerous 😂
I'd say checking the app at around 6-9 PM on weekdays and anytime during weekends is your best bet. People are realistically listing stuff when they aren't at work and the best deals get scooped up pretty quick, even overnight. Congrats on the Pumas!
@@Mack.Tracks Good shout, I'd never really considered that too much!
Wow those prices are amazing. Must download and have a look.. or maybe I should resist 😬
A little look won’t hurt… 🙈
You get mega bargains Mack due to your mahoosive shoe size 🛶 😂 Tell you what though , the bostons are a great trainer . Use mine for long runs and tempo / parkruns . You got some great buys there 👍🏻
Haha, yes it’s definitely easier to grab bargains at the 12+ range. I’m looking forward to the Bostons! Heard lots of good things, so it’s about time I checked them out.
@@Mack.Tracks makes up for many shoes not coming in our size in the first place and then often selling out first have often found. Have to admit did not like the Boston 12 - bit clunky but not terrible.
Great bargain hunting 👌 You sure you don't need just a couple more pairs....? 😅
It’s a dangerous game, haha…
Some great deals in there. I've got the same Marathon schedule as you in 2025! Manchester followed by Chicago. What are the chances!
Ahh, how awesome! I’ll be starting training next week. I’m looking forward to getting back on the grind. Here’s to a big 2025 for us both 💪
@@Mack.Tracks 👊 dropped you a follow on Strava.
My purchases this year all new Hoka Mach 6 brooks Hyperion max 2 brooks ghost max Hoka cielo x1 on cloud surfer next Hoka challenger ar7 and also the Mach x and you think you have a problem haha
Oooh, I need to invest more time in Hoka, Brooks, and ON. Lots of interesting shoes on those sides!
I didn't realise you were running barefoot before 🤣🤣 You're fully stocked now with some epic choices made in there 😍😍
Just need to grab some Crocs and wellies and I’ll be good to go!
I think I need to join the Vinted hype- I'm actually in the market for new trainers 😅
Yeah, it’s pretty damn great. Just be warned, haha!
Im doing a clear out of my shoes, all on tinted. Better they go to a good home and get some of the cash back.....easier than eBay!
For sure! One man’s trash is another man’s marathon training shoes, as they say!
@@Mack.Tracks Yup, everyone says that one, absolutely!!
Ah some decent shoes there at a decent price. Did I hear right you are UK 13 in the Vaporfly 2 - same as me.
That’s right! I don’t think I’m cool enough for shoes with “fins” but here we are!
Well done on a great 2024, and I'm sure there will be plenty more to come in 2025. I'll be at Manchester in April too, and will be watching Chicago - one of my favourite of the Majors!
Thanks, Mat. I'm looking forward to grinding out more sessions with you in 2025!
Thanks for posting the video. I'm also having sub 20 and I know how difficult it seems. Keep at it and you'll get it soon.
Cheers!
Great vid mate ! Just made sub 20 todays parkrun for the first time too. Keep up the good work !
Ah, congrats! Hope it wasn’t too painful, haha…
1st time watching your channel well done breaking 20 bring on sub 19.
Cheers, Steven!
Loved Manchester this year, sub 4 also, 3:59:40 😜 Great channel, enjoy Chicago, should be amazing! I've planned Milton Keynes and Frankfurt. Happy New Year and best wishes for 2025.
Oooh, I bet that final straight was intense with only 20 seconds to spare and you (potentially) measuring the course long! Your plans sound fantastic 💪
Chicago!!!! Amazing Mack!!! Well Jell.
Should be good fun! (Aside from the 26.2)
not the intended result, but me and im sure others appreciate the raw content, from fails to successes you put out there for us to view, it'll come mate, keep strong <3
Cheers! ❤️
insanely underrated
Well done Mack what an amazing effort 🎉
Thanks, James! It was good to see you that morning!
Couple of half marathons this year and who knows- Maybe an autumn marathon? Great work in 2024 Mack and great goals for 2025 🎉
So chuffed for you mate ,great video ,even better running 👍👟💪
Cheers!
Ooooh, a trip along the canal very soon 🤔🤔🤔…. Wonder if it’s the same day as us 😁
Oooh 😳
I think you broke Ben 😂 Great running guys. Congrats on a really good year of running, Mack, and all the best for the new year 👍
Honestly, he’s put up with so much from me. I’m inspired by his rapid growth and, with some more mileage, he’s going to fly. Cheers, Mark! Here’s to an awesome 2025 🎉
A great year of running for you and big things already book for next year, exciting indeed. Don’t think I could manage 2 marathons in a year just yet but I am also running Manchester marathon this year. I will start a 15week training block soon. Looking forward to following your training journey and may even see you there! Happy new year!
I think I might make “Major” marathons more of a holiday rather than an all-out A race, but we shall see… I’ll do a strict conventional training block for Manchester and then more ultras/adventures as prep for Chicago. (Subject to change, of course!!) Happy New Year! 🎉
I’ll also be running Manchester marathon this year, which is both exciting and terrifying (first marathon ever)! I’ve been watching your channel since I signed up in September and watched your video on the hill at Altrincham. Just wanted to say that the content you put out is so fun to watch. You have a lovely calming presence. Good luck with all your goals!
Ah, this is great! I’m excited for you - Manchester was my first and it’s such a special place with a lot of support. Best of luck with your training ❤️
Congratulations 🎉 I knew it was coming. Great to have that monkey off your back.
Congratulations on the first sub-20 parkrun! Also, congratulations on this lovely video. I can only imagine how frustrated you were when you discovered the footage of the event was missing, but the retrospective storytelling and after the event footage probably made this a more engaging video than a standard POV video. Well done on both counts!
That means a lot, thanks! ❤️
Absolutely incredible 🎉🎉 amazing work buddy 🎉
Cheers! ❤️
Brilliant effort mate! And your storytelling was more than good enough to make up for the lost footage so it still made a great video too.
That means a lot! Tried to make lemonade out of lemons, haha 🤷
Awesome work dude, after last week, that is so well earned and I can only imagine the frustration when it wasn’t on camera. The Go 3/3s has some weird freezing thing it does with the old firmware- double check you have the latest one as that fixed it, I too found out the hard way! If you’re ever down Sussex way let’s get a parkrun or race in together!
My camera has been shouting about an update but saying it doesn’t have enough battery to actually do it, despite being fully charged! I’ll continue to try and update. Cheers!!
199 is the highest I've ever seen. You need to do a video where you try to get to 200. Maybe up that long hill in Malvern?
Hahaha 🤣 That does not sound very responsible! I wore my usual chest strap, which has proven accurate - as far as I know - but there’s certainly room for error at over 3 beats per second… All I know is that I was seeing black dots!
Brilliant! Well done, great run
Thanks!
Well done! Don't worry, you did everything right. All the best runners take it out fast and see how far they can hold on. You went for it, and one day soon you will suddenly be able to hold on! All the best
Thank you ❤️
Congrats, it's a big milestone! Sounds like the 6 days of no running may have worked, tapers are underrated!
Thank you ❤️
Yessss!!! Absolutely incredible achievement ⭐🎯 A brilliant way to end the year 🙌 SO deserved
Cheers, Dean! ❤️
Great video and huge congrats. What a great way to end the year, well done! The same happened to me with my sub 20 attempt. Watch and Strava had me at 20 dead. I had to wait until the afternoon for the official result 😂 Plan is to try and run sub 20 more consistently next year.
I just kept refreshing the Parkrun result page over and over. Nightmare haha 😂 Here’s to chipping away more seconds in 2025!
