Let's Beat The Winter Blues! ❄️ My Cosy Evening Routine & How I Beat The Winter Blues | slow living
A cosy evening routine vlog and tips to beat the winter blues during the autumn and winter months 🤍
The season of slow is officially upon us and although I'm certainly a summer girl at heart, I like to embrace the opportunity for rest and recuperation this period brings.
It can be a particularly difficult time of year for many of us, the lack of sunlight and shorter days can make seasonal depression difficult to shake off.
However in this video I want to share some tips, self-care habits and words of reassurance to anyone who may suffer a little with those pesky winter blues and how to approach the Christmas period if you struggle this time of year.
I hope you enjoy and let me know if you have any tips to combat the winter blues too!
Please like, share and subscribe if you haven't already I really appreciate your support ✨
Wishing you a happy and peaceful day wherever you may be!

SPEEDY BUTTERNUT PASTA
(serves 2 portions)
-1/2 Butternut squash approx 200g (de-skinned and diced into small cubes)
-1/2 large white onion
-1 fresh garlic bulb
-10/15 cherry tomatoes (depending on size)
-2/3 tbsp silken tofu (change for 1-2 tbsp creme fresh or 100g soaked cashews)
-salt & pepper
-200g pasta of choice (I used farfalle)
1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees C
2. Add the diced squash, tomatoes, garlic bulb to a roasting tin with a generous glug of olive oil, salt and pepper
3. Roast the veggies for 25-30 mins until soft and golden
4. Meanwhile heat a small pan with a glug of olive oil on a medium heat and fry off the diced white onion until soft. Set aside
5. Once the veggies are roasted, add to a blender with the onion, silken tofu (or creme fresh/cashews) and a splash of water to loosen. Blend until smooth and season to taste
6. Cook the pasta in salted water to packet instructions until al dente
7. Drain the pasta (but don't forget to save some of the water!) and add in 3-5 tbsp of the butternut sauce. Add a dash of pasta water to loosen and add more sauce depending on preference
8. Serve with fresh herbs (I chose sage), toasted seeds, parmesan and a drizzle of olive oil
9. Get cosy and enjoy 😋
10. Sauce can be kept in the fridge for 2/3 days or frozen

In this video I'll bust some common myths about self-love, what it actually means and how to love yourself correctly. Many of us find it easy to love others but the idea of loving ourselves can sometimes feel impossible. I think a lot of it comes down to the various stereotypes about self-love and how many of us simply prefer to give love to others than ourselves. However, as someone who's been...

Uncomfortable Truths That Helped Me Care Less & Live A More Peaceful Life✨ | slow living

In this video I want to share some harsh truths I needed to hear for a more peaceful, calm and simple life. How I finally stopped caring too much and found inner-peace. Especially when it comes to things outside of our control or the actions...
What I Eat In A Day Whilst Living Simply & On A Budget | Minimalism

What Most People Get WRONG About The “Slow” Living Movement | Minimalism

In this video I'll discuss what most people get wrong about the slow living movement and minimalist living. Prior to my awareness of slow living and adopting a simple living lifestyle, I held many misconceptions about the movement. I assumed it was a lifestyle available for the select few and that to live "slowly" would only hinder my progress and productivity. So what is slow living? Since ado...

Made the Butternut pasta tonight for tea - delicious!
I have a tip that contradicts what you said a little bit, but it helps me a lot. I force myself to go dancing and to be active even when I would prefer to stay on the sofa it always makes me feel so much better when I go. And also take a vitamin D supplement. Deficiency can make you very tired and unmotivated.
I try to think that it's only three months and then it's spring again. and I read a lot on these dark gloomy days and evenings.
The white cottages are charming and so are your videos
Thank you very much! 🏠 ☺️
Beautiful kind-hearted soul, thank you.
Thats so kind! 🥹 Thank you for watching! 💛
New sub, great video. You're a lovely person
Thank you very much and welcome to the community! ☺️ ✨
Winter is depressing for me, and finding your video has made me feel hopeful for this year to be better. You made slowing down seem comforting and renewing. Thank you. New subscriber.
It is a difficult time of year but I'm glad this video has been a little helpful for you and I wish you all the best during this period 💛 Thank you for joining us too! ☺️
Thank you once again Holly for such a comforting video. I really feel it on the Party Season as because of a inner ear problem loud music, and noise cause me so much discomfort. People wrongly assume because I do not attend certain events I am miserable not the case at all. So thank you for saying do not feel obligated to go to these things. I love to just stay quite and keep away from them so your reassuring words has helped a lot. Bless you Holly ❤
That must be so difficult for you, I can't being to imagine. But absolutely, you must do what's comfortable for you and mustn't feel guilty for choosing yourself first, particularly given how tough this time of year can be😊 So glad this was of a little help and sending you my love 💛
Paying guests hospitality kindness
💛
The end of the year is always very difficult for me. I am chronically depressed and the end of the year makes it even worse. Although I do love to put on the candles and cuddle up in the evening, during the day it’s so hard for me to get anything done. And because of the weather (I live in the Netherlands so weather is just as lousy as in the UK) I feel kind of trapped in the house. I haven’t been celebrating Christmas already for the last 10 years but I just do what I can do in my home. So I read a lot and try to be creative with home made cards and most of the time I have a Jigsaw puzzle on the hobby table on a separate board so that I can take it off the table when I want to craft. It is what it is and we can’t change anything about the weather or the light anyway so we just have to wait for Spring again.
It is a tough time for sure and sometimes no matter what we do it'll always be somewhat difficult given the external circumstances. But I always like to keep hopeful during this time that brighter days are on the horizon and will greet us again very soon 😊 Before you know it spring will be here and it won't seem so hard. It'll make these periods feel worthwhile ☺️ Wishing you the best 💛
Great stuff Kiddo.....❤
Thank you! ☺️
Oh Holly my little pajama queen..each season is meant to give us the opportunity for new experiences and when we fight against the natural flow of life I believe we can miss out on what was meant to be a wonderful thing for us and just miss the meaning completely but if you embrace what each season gives you’ll find that each one was made for a purpose and is very important for our whole life system …wintertime is a when life hibernates and has a chance to recharge and even transform kind of like a caterpillar getting ready to turn into a butterfly so there’s really no need to worry about not being productive enough because it’s not the season for that now you’ll have plenty of time for productivity when spring comes…love you my friend and thank you 🙏 for all the wonderful videos you are and always will be the best….& you know I can’t leave without saying how beautiful you look ..
I enjoyed reading your perspective here Andy thank you for sharing this ☺️ The caterpillar analogy couldn't be more fitting 🥹 There is plenty of time and joy to be had through all the seasons but we to find and embrace it. Really glad you enjoyed this and I appreciate your support as always! ✨ Wishing you all the best and hope you're well! ☺️
I definitely struggle at this time of the year - it is the lack of light and not being out in nature as much, even thought I have taken steps to try and tackle it this year - but this week has been a struggle. I do enjoy the cozy evenings, nice PJs - curling up with a good book & taking it a bit slower.
It can be very difficult for sure but glad you enjoy the cosy evenings and an excuse to get in jammies early too 😆 Thanks for watching! 💛
Another lovely video 📺 to watch on these dark nights the food 🍛🍜 looks lovely 😋 .and I love the little house 🏠 thanks for your lovely video 📽💐🌹❤
Thank you! The little house never fails to make me feel cosy ☺️ 🏠
What a delightful and comforting video! The food looked absolutely delicious, and your chat was so pleasant. The only thing that could have made it even cozier would be an active fireplace. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much!☺️ So glad you enjoyed this one and felt the cosy vibes too ✨ Appreciate your support!

Yesterday I visited the channel to check the new update and thought to msg you about the next video and now it's here, after a long gape By the way it's super cool
My apologies! A couple of personal circumstances but feels good to be back and look forward to making more content! ☺️
Holly :-) so good to see you again ❤ beautiful video. That pasta you made is truly a work of art! Looks so delicious, I've made pasta before but it's never looked that good lol. Winter can be hard, but where I live we've had some dry, hot, and kind of foul days which I've found unpleasant that I was almost wishing for winter again. I've always found December to be the most beautiful month, truly a time of rest, because of Christmas of course, and it's my birthday as well lol, on the 30th of December. I have learned about some of the things going on in the UK at the moment, and I have sincerely been hoping and praying you're ok. By the way, your hair looks really beautiful in this video :-)
Thank you Stephen, I hope you're doing well ☺️ So glad you enjoyed and definitely give the pasta a go if you can as its very yummy 😋 The complete opposite of us here in England, I do miss the sun but of course the heat brings its own difficulties so I hope its not too taxing for you 🥵 Aw you're a Christmas baby too! It certainly is a special time of year! 🥹 Thank you for your kind words and support as always, sending my wishes to Aus! ✨
@lagomholly Thanks so much beautiful Holly :-) ok I'll give it a go soon, I know you always leave recipes in the description :-) and I always enjoy your videos. I can definitely understand you missing the sunny weather, I don't think the sun would be too scorching in England. Here in Australia we have a real danger called bushfires, you've probably seen it in the news at one time when we had some very deadly bushfires during summer, I've seen the sky orange and red filled with smoke like the apocalypse, that was a long time ago though. You're a Christmas baby too? That's cute 😋 and all good lovely Holly, sending my wishes to the UK :-)
@@stephenmacafee5478 Thank you Stephen! Yeah unfortunately we never get to experience the same summer as you do in Aus or even a few days consistently of sun 😂 But of course it can come with its own difficulties so I keep everything crossed you're safe and no major bushfires break out this year! I am indeed, I wouldn't have it any other way ☺ 🎄 Wishing you a great week ahead and keep safe! ✨
@lagomholly Thank you lovely Holly! :-) I always think of England as Holly land now, because you're there 😂 You may not get a lot of sun there but you certainly shine brightly anyway, please keep being unapologetically you ❤️ It makes me happy that I share the same birthday month with you, and Jesus lol. I wish you a great week ahead too and you keep safe also :-)
I do enjoy this time of year..cosy nights, yummy food, going to bed early with a good book. Wrapping up well on a sunday walk, then coming home to a slow cooker dinner. By february I am ready for spring especially when the spring bulbs start poking their heads out. Lovely vlog today and the pasta looked scrumptious, i always fey my sage in a little butter until crispy so tasty.
Absolutely, they're truly some of the best little things ✨ I believe fried sage is meant to be delicious too, I must give it a try 😋 Thank you for watching! ☺️
I'm a new subscriber but can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. You are a rare soul
Thank you so much! Appreciate your words and for joining us!☺️

Loved this video as going through a painful breakup of my marriage and found your video a great comfort thanks Holly.
I'm so glad this has brought a little comfort to you, during what I can only imagine is an incredibly challenging time. Sending my love and for brighter days ahead soon 💛
I've always loved being alone - even as a child. I've even had some of the wildest parties of my life at home by myself 😆

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed this☺️
My soul has been blessed with an endless supply of love, for my children, husband , family and the world. But to do this I need to love myself first.
Absolutely! One of the biggest blessings we could ever receive 💛
Beautiful and very intelligent message Holly :-) really well thought out, wonderful analogy too. My five things that make my soul special: 1. My devotion and faithfulness to God, I know God makes all things beautiful, and breathes life into all things, including me. When I don't spend time with God, it's like everything loses it's colour, and life becomes bland. 2. My love for music, music is the soundtrack of life, I can enjoy the hardest of metal to the softest of ambient music. 3. I am incredibly generous, a quality I inherited from my dad. It always comes back to me, I saw two of my favourite metal bands Parkway Drive and I Prevail play in Sydney, only my friend I hadn't seen in 7 years, bought me those tickets before they sold out. The only thing I paid for was a fast food meal on the road to Sydney, everything else was provided for me while I was there. My friend even bought me a ride in a V8 supercar on a motorsport race track while I was there. 4. I get told all the time that I am an excellent writer, funny thing is my hand writing is actually awful, but I can type insanely fast. Someone even said I should write a book. 5. I've always treated women right, I believe in traditional values, and as a result I've always gotten along with women. I've always believed that if you want to meet the right girl, you gotta be the right guy, and you attract what you're like. Sorry this post turned out to be a lot longer than I thought it would be :-)
Thank you Stephen and for sharing your list with us ☺️ I really enjoyed reading this and one things for sure you have such a special soul 💛 I particularly love number 3 - it goes to show generosity doesn't have to be material or monetary based when its the company and time together that makes memories and moments so special. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and wishing you a great week ahead ✨
@lagomholly Awww thank you beautiful Holly 🤗 I think you are such a special soul too, with a beautiful heart ❤️ you put that perfectly, meaningful time spent with others is more important than any dollar (or pound in your case lol) value attached. I appreciate you and I hope you have a lovely week too :-)

It only takes One person to love a person for it to transform a life!
The greatest love is to lay down one’s life for another. My brothers in arms, you know what I mean. And to the great ones, God rest your souls.
Truthfully Holly, the love that you give to us , your viewers in your community, is transformational and makes a difference. Your smallest acts make a thousand ripples and the world is a better place.
Thank you so much!🥹 Really appreciate your support with all my videos and for sharing your many words of wisdom with us too☺️✨
I agree Holly, do not allow others to define us, but rather define ourselves by our own values and assessments
There’s a song by Joan Jett called I hate myself for loving you that always reminds me to love someone who is good for me and not someone who is bad for me, for my own sake. And this is not a selfish thing that I have to tell myself. Oh the internal conflicts!!
thank you for sharing. this is an eye opener.
Thank you for watching!💛
Holly I have been in the gym and a trainer for a really long time and I’m very grateful and blessed to be loved by so many people…. and one of my favorite things to do is to go up to someone I’ve never met and tell them how good their form was while they were doing a exercise they been working on or I might see someone who’s been really working a lot on his arms and tell him …. Man your arms are looking great…it’s a beautiful way to break the ice and get new people that have just started going to the gym to feel comfortable and enjoy the gym and it’s made me one of the most loved people in all these gyms…thank you Holly for the wonderful video see you next week 😊
I really love that Andy thank you for sharing this! ☺️ It really is just those small acts of kindness and compliments that have the biggest impact on people. You're helping them in so many more ways than you know by such a small but meaningful gesture ✨ Thank you for watching!
With self love is learning self respect. Not to be treated badly or even disrespectfully because you are constantly prioritising other’s feelings even if their actions are detrimental to your own.
Well said, self-respect is fundamental. It all starts with how you see yourself 💛
