Thanks for this video. I do struggle with really being in the present, but I try to call myself back as soon as I notice that I’m already thinking ahead or feeling lousy because something bad happened in the past. We can’t change the past, nor can we foresee the future. But as a control freak it is hard to stay in the now.
Thank you for sharing this! I completely understand this and I’m sure many others do too! It’s definitely normal to have moments like this crop up from time to time, but from my experience I find focusing on what I can control in the very moment super helpful. Even though it’s difficult, knowing I can’t control everything brings a sense of peace and relief. I hope this helps but it certainly takes practice so don’t be too hard on yourself!🫶 Wishing you the best☺️
You are totally correct about living in the here and now. I enjoyed cooking so I would try something different taking time to follow each step. There is no reason to rush just take the time to do correctly. Life is fast enough so it’s good just to take it slow. Bless you Holly🙏 and thank you for sharing 🫶
Thank you for watching this and sharing your thoughts here Dave! I totally agree with everything you’ve said. There is no point in rushing things just take your time and enjoy the process! Wishing you the best🫶✨
Re baking, when I was unemployed baking saved me. I didn’t realise it at the time but baking ‘scores’ in many ways; it fills the house with warm comforting smells, it gives you a feeling of achievement, it fills your belly and sometimes even saves you money.
That's so true! It really does have healing powers and can bring so much comfort - particularly during difficult times. I hope you're in a better place now and thank you for sharing this🫶✨
So true Holly, I like to say that there's way too much future in our heads. What I sometimes do with my clients is to help them see how often the action that got them through a difficult situation in the past was not pre-planned: the present moment is the true receptacle of genius (although, as you correctly say, there's place for planning too). BTW congrats on the 10k subscribers. Keep cooking yummy-looking stuff!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and thoughts here! ✨ I totally agree, there is far too much worrying and pre-empting of the future going on it's taking us away from the preciousness of the present moment. Mindfulness is one way to help us recognise how special and peaceful this moment truly is and has helped me (and I know a lot of others) during particularly difficult times 😊 Thank you too! I'm so excited for whats to come! 😆
A sport and / or a hobby that you enjoy definitely is the way of keeping you present in the moment. I enjoy playing tennis and knitting, and find that these two activities always ground me in the joy of the moment.
I am a huge fan of Eckhart Tolle ("Now"). I continually find peace when I am tempted to rehash the past or fret about the future. Beautiful video, Holly!
Yes! I absolutely love his book and found it a very moving read. It really did cement to me how precious the present moment is ✨ Thank you for watching! ☺
Im in the midst of a hectic year- job switches and moves- and this was such a reminder to ground myself in the little joys and moments of each day, and take it a day at a time.
Thank you for sharing this! That does sound like a very hectic time going through such a transition, but just take it day by day and don’t be too hard on yourself for feeling mixed emotions. They’re there to be experienced and embraced and more often than not for the greater good☺️ Good luck!✨
How I live in the present moment: Going outside in nature. Woodland or beach. Ask yourself: What do you see? Appreciate the space between the waves or leaves on a tree, petals on a flower. What do you hear? Children at play, birdsong, crashing waves? What can you smell? The rain? Fresh coffee from a pitch up stall? What does the texture feel like in your hand or underfoot? Sit with a book, underline passages, make notes. Write a daily journal, record your thoughts and feelings, allow the process. Most of all, breathe. Just breathing slowly and controlled will always be your calming anchor to the present. I cook own meals, drawing and painting, learn to play songs on piano, go for a walks, bike rides, cold water dipping, coffee house with a book, people watch, go for drives, train journeys. Spend time with my friends and a movie night with them. I go to the gym, meditate and yoga. I have really learnt to focus on myself and recover from set backs and difficulties. Finding peace in the present. Zen is doing one thing at a time.
Beautiful video! Loved your painting! I wrote down alot of your important message. Thanks so much. It was so relaxing watching you bake. 😊 I could just imagine how good the muffins tasted. To help me live in the moment I do the most necessary tasks first in my day and make time after for what I enjoy. If my brain is overloaded with things needing to be done, I organize my calendar to book other important tasks to other suitable days so I don't get overburdened. And then I do mat exercises and walk outdoors to let my brain relax and get back into living in the present moment. If I'm busy at work, what helps me live in each moment is humming a favorite song. It helps me relax and smile! ❤Sue

Hi @lagomHolly, your slow-paced lifestyle where you find peace in the present moment, defines your WISDOM that of which is motivated by your humbled thoughts. Knowledge may Equate Power, but Wisdom & Knowledge Combined is where Happiness Resides. I’m excited to have just found your channel!
A great video, Holly 👍. Living in the present is indeed a present 🎁. I do daydream a lot thinking how life will unfold for me. Dreaming is great, but not too much that you forget to engage with the world. I remember a powerful scene from one of my favourite films: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), directed by Ben Stiller. There is a scene at end of the film where Sean Penn's character (Sean O'Connell) is trying to capture a picture of a snow leopard in the Himalayas. Here's how it goes: Walter Mitty: When are you going to take it? Sean O’Connell: Sometimes I don’t. If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don’t like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it. Walter Mitty: Stay in it? Sean O’Connell: Yeah. Right there. Right here. I love this scene a lot. We are so focused on capturing every moment that we forget to experience it fully.
I love that little quote you've shared here ☺I must pop it on my watch list as it sounds right up my street and a thought-provoking watch! I agree with everything you've shared and that we can dream but also enjoy the moment and engage with the world together! Thank you for watching ✨
Outstanding video! (rather relaxing)...Slowing down and immersing yourself in the present moment is a good practice...Many times it's the little things that can be appreciated immensely indeed...keep up the great work.
Thank you for this beautiful video ❤ I struggle with staying present during the busyness of day to day during the work week where most people are encouraged to juggle multiple tasks and priorities. It's almost ingrained into us. The weekends and most mornings are my time to focus inward and be present. I treasure those moments.
I totally agree with you there and during these times it's even more difficult to try and focus on one thing and be present. But I do agree it's about seeking as many opportunities as we can to be still in the moment and what you're doing sounds the perfect way to do this! 🫶 ☺
Im a bit depressed this lately...so i found this video... im lying on the couch and watching.... so relaxing.... i fall asleep 😂... i continued watching just after i woke up and the depressed feeling went away 😊

There's a scripture verse that helps me deal: "“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Perfectly put, thank you for sharing your wisdom here! ✨Focusing on what we can control is the most positive and wise thing we can do☺ Thank you for watching! 🫶
I think understanding your past and thinking of the future have their place. The past helps you learn from mistakes or rewards and the future helps in looking at all the possibilities. Still, the present is so important and perhaps the most important. The past and future can make you waste your life away if you dwell to much in them. What you do in the present will be your past and could be your future. So, at some point you have to stop analyzing and take actions to create an inspired past and a powerful future. You can do that with the actions you take in the present. Thanks for the ideas you inspire in us, Holly.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom here, you have summarised this concept beautifully. I totally agree, although its also important to plan and reflect, its about finding the balance and realising when we need to let go. The present moment will always be the most important for us to focus on and make sure every action we take is the best possible ✨ So glad you enjoyed this ☺
Sometimes, it is as simple as taking a deep breath and that can help to clear your mind and calm you down and it can help to refocus back on the moment you are in…we need to realize that life is fleeting , so fill yourself with wonder and curiosity of a child and enjoy this beautiful world around you. ❤
I really love what you’ve shared here thank you! It really can just start with a simple deep breath to bring us back to the present moment✨ Thank you for watching!🫶
I certainly relate! But just taking any opportunity you can (even in the morning or end of the work day) to just slow down and focus on one thing really helps to bring us back to the present moment and relax. You should find your concentration during these periods would be better too 😊🫶

I wish I could understand how being in the moment is just right as it is. What happens when at that moment something horrible is happening? How do you believe that that moment is perfect?
I don't think there is a simple answer to that. Having been through challenging moments although maybe not truly horrifying things, I have experienced more "peace" by focusing on what needs to be done right now vs what if. I have also read historical non-fiction where people have found a kind of joy in horrifying conditions, i.e. concentration camps. They were there, not much they could do but survive best they could and so they chose to not be miserable. I don't know if I could do that but I do understand the concept and hope that I would. Now, I can also think of some horrifying things that would be impossible to believe that that moment(s) is/was perfect. But I think the focus of the video for us in most of our moments is staying present.
Thank you for your comment🙂 What I’m getting at here is referring to the desire to constantly run away from things or feel the moment could/would be perfect somewhere or with something else. In that case the moment is perfect as it is as there is never going to be an entirely “perfect” moment where this desire for more is suppressed. Also regarding hard times, I am a firm believer in riding the wave of all emotions and experiences both good and bad. It’s the horrible moments that really shape us into the characters we are and by embracing the experience I always believe they make us stronger and we have something to learn from them - that makes them ‘perfect’ in my view as it’s happening for a reason and more often the greater good (with some exceptions such as loss of a loved one). I hope that makes sense. I’m trying to put a positive spin on the concept of embracing the moment whatever it throws at us😊
@@lagomholly thank you for your reply 😊 I agree that we are somehow made stronger by bad experiences. It’s just difficult to embrace those moments while they are happening! It’s something I am trying to remember and focus on when I am dealing with challenging situations ❤️
I think when you say single task, did you mean "focus"? Unfortunately these phones are a constant distraction. On a side note I found meditation and painting the best for being in the here and now. Something to quieten my monkey brain that wants to do a million things at once 😜
Yeah focus or concentrate are probably better ways to describe the term!😅 I do agree though phones make it so difficult to do these days. But tasks that require your full attention like cooking, painting, meditation are excellent to bring us back to the present moment! Appreciate you sharing this and for watching!☺️✨
