Bluebrick Recordings
Приєднався 19 жов 2014
Bluebrick Recordings is located in East Avon New York. In one sense we are a traditional professional level recording studio for all styles of music. But we also host performances from both local and touring artists. The environment is both casual and pro. This is a place were people want to create, and we want to encourage real art to be made. That's how it goes.

It's still one of my favorite snares of all time. And here I take you through the journey of removing the rubber gaskets off of a newer model. This should prove to be enjoyable whether you're an expert or oblivious to it all. This drum is an important part of musical history. Thanks for watching.

The Vintage Gretsch - Snare Junkie

This mystery vintage Gretsch snare is among my favorite drums for recording. I don't know the model or the year exactly, but it is a treasure. This video also features some exclusive footage of Jesse tracking drums for Seattle based band: Subways On The Sun. (from all the way across the country of course) Enjoy the sweet sweet sounds.
Pearl Steel Sensitone: "Bang For Buck"
Переглядів 3 тис.8 років тому
We're beginning our "Bang For Buck" series here in episode #15. Cheap drums that sound great. Yes, I have featured the Pearl Sensitone a number of times already. But I had to share about the older steel model, because it is so often a "steal" to find these used on line. So there you have it! Note: This snare isn't the exact sensitone that I got years ago for Dead Poetic. FYI
Pearl Sensitone - The "Mod" Episode

On my birthday I decided to yank the rubber gaskets off of this snappy little snare drum. I don't know if the difference is enough to shake the earth or make national headlines, but i prefer the new version. This procedure tends to add sass and attitude to any drum. (unless perhaps you prefer a more dry tone.) My assistant Amos was a huge help! Enjoy.
Snare Junkie - The Ludwig Acrolite

Episode #13 - Part 3 in our aluminum series. This snare is an absolute classic. I never get tired of playing the Acrolite. It's affordable, it's beautiful, and it sounds amazing. Special thanks to Midwest Drum and Percussion in Wichita for this beauty!

I can't say enough about this drum. It is amazing. (5X14 with a Remo Vintage A head). And you get your ears blessed by one of my favorite songs that I've written. This is a "must watch to the end" kind of video. Enjoy.

Snare Junkie Episode 2 - The Radio King
Wow they sound so close. Great sound. ✌️
What are you selling ??? Toms, Bass Drums, Cymbals ????? If just the snare, THEN PLAY JUST THE SNARE ppp-fff !!!
sweet
I have the Pearl Sensitone, I love the sound! I do love the black beauty also, but I don't think it is something I would try to pay 400 dollars more for, unless had the money and was looking for a new snare drum choice? But for now my Sensitone cracks like hell, and really love it!
It is just really hard to beat a Supraphonic, no pun intended
Beautiful drum.fab playing
I have 1! A Signia Marquis 14x5
What about the 30s black b snares
Well I’m listening to this with $1,500 in ears and the only difference I can tell is that the sensitone is a little bit brighter. Who knows if that’s the little variances in tuning or what? But they’re pretty similar. I have a Pork Pie BOB and I’ve compared it to dad’s black beauty and they’re pretty spot on with each other. Also worth noting, I’m glad to see a comparison video with great recording gear and a guy who can really play. The comparison was great and the playing fun to watch! Great job
They might sound similar here, but it's a different story in a close mik situation, i think.
those snares literally sound IDENTICAL! (with eyes closed) ..it's why I just purchased the Pearl (sound source Bose QE2 Inner Earphones)
Ludwig has better shell resonance.
1, 2, 3, 4.
BB has that hardness to the tone, more pushed mid freq contact
Absolutely no difference. Pearl for the win without the over-priced racquet.
BB seems to have a fuller sound to it. Warm midrange that the Pearl doesn't have. Pearl still sounds great, though, and for a $400 savings you can't go wrong.
kick snare kick snare... 1234...
Virtually identical in sound. One might buy the Ludwig for the name, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.
This or the Pearl Sensitone brass…both sound great and are great value, compared to the Black Beauty..
These actually sound better, tuned higher..
😂😂😂 yeahhh man both are beautiful snares ...for me Ludwig have more range overtones and I like it more than the beaded brass. But it's my opinion 😅 well done and nice playing
Being a snare junkie is fine. I have come to the conclusion , It doesn't matter only to the player. 99.9 % of people couldn't tell the difference.
I realize this may be sacrilegious, but I honestly like the sound of the Pearl better than the Black Beauty. Could be because you were hitting the center dot a little more spot on, but the Pearl just seemed more punchy and a little more focused.
Pearl better
Supra...Supra....SUPRA!
Ah... no, it's QUITE noticeable. BB has a lot more tone, more sustain, more body. The Sensitone is dryer, more nondescript. Both have their uses (I have both) but BB is my clear winner.
IMO in nowadays market of drums the Ludwig BB is an overrated and a overprized snaredrum. Own experience last 40 years.
Wow. I would never have believed it, but YES I think the drum sounds way better without the gaskets !
You can literally hear the room reverb when you are talking! Deaden the room to hear the body, even the kick has no depth
I think it’s the drumhead that make it a little closer than it should be, I would use a Powerstroke 3 with the Dot or a Powerstroke 77 or UV2 even a HD Dry on both to see the difference. If you kill some of the room reverb we could really hear the body of the snare as well.
Evans heads would be fun to try
It’s been my experience you can’t go wrong with PureSound. I was skeptical but PureSound Blaster 20 strands have noticeably improved the sound of my Ludwig BB and Acro and that’s a bold statement
I love how he doesn’t muffle, like so many demonstrators do today.
Their PHOSPHOR BRONZE is very good, too.
LUDWIG, unfortunately, is discontinuing their bronze snares. What a shame, considering they make some of the best ..
素晴らしいですね‼️‼️👍🥁
That pic of the CB 🤣🤣🤣
New heritage aluminium snare Is just the same?
Great playing, great sound!
Some pretty groovy playing too!!
which drum heads do u use here ?
Love them both. I have a Ludwig BB and a Ludwig Black Magic. Both 6.5" x 14" If I had to pick one I'd take the Black Beauty. Not because it sounds better, but because it's a Black Beauty. Placebo Effect. I love them both and I'll never sell either one. Black Magic is one of the best Snare drums I've ever played. It's my gigging snare. The Beauty stays in the studio. Great vid and nice chops. Cheers from Canada.
Love both, but I prefer bronze, for both brands… Would love to see that comparison..
The difference in construction plays a role in why the Black Beauty produces a better attack compared to the Sensitone's more ringy nature (in this recording anyway): 1. The Black Beauty is 1.2 mm thick while the Sensitone is 1.0mm 2. The Black Beauty is a seamless spun shell whereas the Sensitone is a seamed shell. In this recording, the difference is not much. Value for money definitely goes to the Sensitone.
Great snare, but Ludwig’s Bronze and COB models are fabulous too.
Seems too sensitone had higher end rings, if one prefers. Both worth it….
I purchased a brand new Ludwig BB A-stock in 2015 and after playing for 30 minutes, two of the tension rods were completely backed out...I loved the sound, but never had that issue on any other snare and got rid of it on principle - I shouldn't have to buy lug locks or some other gizmo to make the drum perform its essential functions on a $750+ drum...period. I replaced it with a Pearl Sensitone and am incredibly happy and haven't had any issues - sounds amazing and the sound guys I work with come up to me and say "that snare sounds like what I imagine a snare *should sound like in my head." I also purchased a Pork Pie BoB for the main house kit at my church and IMO it is just as good. Something about the Sensitone is special though...and the hardware is top notch.
What is your main crash in this video?
Pearl the best reason to play drums... I own both snares I like the Pearl better... Little higher ring that I like on the rim shots
I could hear the higher frequencies cut through with more sustain on the BB over the pearl, but what do I know. Also, i think none of this matters when you're playing live. You may as well play with adequate kit that stays in tune/place for the set as you can't tell any difference then! (cymbals are different in my opinion) I have a BB snare and like it, though I have a pork pie BOB snare, and as here, it's a $400 delta that in my opinion isn't justified. I guess you could ask exactly the same question: "when you need a ride to work", will a ford or a Lamborghini get you to work.... here it's a much bigger delta! But that's why marketing suckers us all in to keep buying crap we don't need! Bravo!
