The Vintage Gretsch - Snare Junkie

This mystery vintage Gretsch snare is among my favorite drums for recording. I don't know the model or the year exactly, but it is a treasure. Sounds great!! That's a Gretsch Dixieland snare drum. I bought one about 2 years ago from a collector up in NYC (who bought it directly from Gretsch when they were located in Brooklyn in the late 50's / early 60's) and it sounds amazing on every recording I've ever used it on.

Those acoustic foam things don't do much; you really need rockwool or fiberglass insulation material to do anything positive
