- This is one of the more revered and "talked up" snares of all time, but I will always love it! Here I play a vintage LM400 and a modern LM402. I wouldn't say it's a versus situation, because obviously the dimensions are different. Hopefully you can see why so many drummers carry the Supra in their arsenal!
I love the 5X14. It sounds just perfect
It is an incredible snare.. It just has that tone that you an't deny!
Thanks. Helpful demo, and fantastic pocket.
Great 👍
Great snare, but Ludwig’s Bronze and COB models are fabulous too.
Great playing and awesomely roomy and real tones from the kit. Having just bought an LM402 today, can't wait to really smack it loud at rehearsal tomorrow, cheers!
I have a 1969 14 x 5 Supraphonic... the best investment i've ever made in a musical instrument...
The 60's one sounds incredible
Love the videos man
Great videos! Hope you come back with some more. Maybe the new vs Old Rogers snares?
your title got me.....:) ...i use a bronze supra......guys at Hollywood drum on Vine mentioned it matured and sounded similiar to a Black Beauty :) keep up the great work....i will support your channel by staying tuned .......beautiful sound...i love that bark in the decay
nice playing!
thanks 4 the video!!
Some pretty groovy playing too!!
Really like the snare drum video's
Love to see a video on the 8x14
steel chrome superlite
Both sound great, and you sound great. I own two LM402s, one from 1988 and one from 2011. Both are great, go-to drums. Not really much else you need.
14×6,5 for me! More punch!
Great video. Only an idiot would say these are over rated.
way over rated
Nice Ludwig Club Date reissue kit! Got the same one with the same wrap. Why two holes on the bass drum reso, though?
Great demo and sounds sir! What batter heads are you using if I may ask?
They are the best.
I wonder why Ringo never used Supras with his Ludwigs.
He always used the Ludwig Jazz Festival.
He preferred wood snares over metal.
I don’t think he knew the difference! He just got hold of the set and stuck with it. If it ain’t broke...
Not unlike the Pearl Aluminium Sensitone, but much more expensive.
strange recording but I'm catching that heavy aluminum vibe, nothing quite like it
5x14 “. 👍🏿
This recording of this snare drum sounds exactly like some of the snare sounds Travis Barker achieved on Blink 182 records.
Just picked up a 69 lm 400 for 250 which included with it a pair of 60s zildjian hats and a bunch of vintage hardware haven't got to pick it up yet but god am i excited to add it to my 30s leedy 24x14 i got for 50$ marine pearl white ooohh all original inlayed hoops and i got an early 60s red ludwig 14x11 marching snare at the end of someone's driveway free i have incredible luck and last but not least a 22 k constinople thin overhammered mmmwwaaaaaa
The 14x 5, 60s model, all the way.
Roy Beckerman I agree, that sucker really cracks
Jake Holcomb
Only my Slingerland Artist Model snare , can match my Supraphonic.
Ian Paice '70 snare...shame they never did 14x5,5 version.
"Superphonic" top kek.
Well ya know, if it’s good enough for Bonham, it’s good enough for me!
Does it help that its good enough for me too?
5x14 “ for mine....neater sound.
A lot of overtones for a Supra. Must be tuned that way.
Are you playing on the drum hoop? That's making me cringe!
Meh.... A Pearl Sensitone sounds just as good but doesn't carry the hefty price tag. No need to spend big bucks on an over-hyped drum when there are cheaper alternatives that are unsung.
Ahhhhhh supraphonics way over rated.
+Christopher Vane Your comment is overrated...
Christopher knows more than the drumming greats ...😂
@@roybeckerman9253All I can go on is my personal experience, played about five 400s at various kit shares and owned one for a while. Not convinced. I appreciate this isn’t the popular view, nevertheless it’s my experience.
