Turbo Ford 460 Finally Running!
Hello everyone!
I apologize for the video being so choppy, this build has stretched into 2 years now because of college and work, so that's why the seasons look totally different.
We ran this truck with the factory valve springs for a while since I wanted to be as easy on that cam as possible and get a few good heat cycles in. In our next video, we will be installing stiffer Melling valve springs and finalizing the under-hood setup!
Thanks for watching!

Hey guys! I got the little B275 running! It still hunts at idle, and I think it's the diaphragm. I tried the olive oil trick and sealed up the outside of the diaphragm, but it's not quite right. Just swapped out my stock VVT turbo with a wicked wheel in it for an S366 from Ebay. I put this kit together on a budget and fabricated most of the kit myself. The truck still needs a tune, which is coming shortly, but it sounds great! Exhaust is a bit of an oddball, 3" downpipe, 4" to the back of the cab, then 5" to the tail. All straight pipes, no muffler. I almost went with an S400 but I mos...

Hey guys! The Mule finally gave up the ghost. I had noticed a massive oil leak shortly after I made the oil seal repair video and had to park it until now. I priced the new 620 for this Mule, but it is pretty expensive for what it is. We are debating either a 459 predator or a 670 predator. I'll watch for another 620, but it looks like a swap is coming! Just watched this as I struggled with mine which is the same except that my disc is plastic. However You're wrong about the clip not spinning. The clip needs to spin with the recoil reel, but needs to have enough resistance to push the pawl out, otherwise it would stop the reel from turning. Cleaning the grease helps, and what worked for me was to squeeze the clip tighter with a pair of pliers so that it grips the hub of the disc a little tighter. Tightening the disc doesn't grip it and whatever you do, don't weld it in place..... Couldn't have figured it out without you though....LOL Thanks

    • @greenhillgarage
      @greenhillgarage 2 місяці тому

      @frontporchpickin289 Sadly, this engine died a little while ago. I got my gasket set from Caltric on Ebay. I haven't checked to see if they still have it, but there are some other kits on eBay that are good. My engine actually had a main bearing seize up and chewed up the case, so I was unable to fix it. I am going to swap in a different engine. Hopefully, this spring, but it'll be a push with some of my bigger projects.

    Gd day from Ontario Yrs ago we had 414, a little bigger than 275, but they have a very high compression I think 414 comp. was 22-23/1, they have indirect inj.. I would have thought with such high comp they would start easier. U need glow plugs in summer too. Ths

    • @greenhillgarage
      @greenhillgarage 2 місяці тому

      @donvoll2580 Good day to you too! This little B275 is by far the most cold-blooded diesel I have ever worked on. If it has been shut off for even 20min after being at operating temp, it needs glow plugs. That's pretty high compression, I know modern diesels like cummins or duramax run anywhere from 17:1 to 19:1, but a few of the old ford diesel tractors I have worked on were in that 22-23:1 area. Thanks!

  • @jvin248
    @jvin248 2 місяці тому

    Like you found the other brand glow plugs that fit, you may find another brand diaphragm, possibly a close one out there that can be made to fit. Check the butterfly valve and actuators for low friction too. Could a mouse nest be in that intake anywhere? Good disk load work to free up any piston rings and improve compression.

    • @greenhillgarage
      @greenhillgarage 2 місяці тому

      @jvin248 I thought about that butterfly valve yesterday. I cleaned it out, but it didn't help. Fortunately, no mouse nest. I cleaned out the oil bath air cleaner and the wire element as well. I'm hoping you're right, I loaded up the little b275 with that disk and a 2 bottom plow, and I noticed it got a little stronger and I didn't have to give it as much throttle to hold the same rpm. I'll keep an eye out for another diaphragm, but I think it's the root of my problem. Thanks!

    I got the deep/inside part of the tire done with no problem however, I simply could NOT get the opposite side to release it's bead! I had the tire flattened on the ground under the board/truck wheel BUT the bead would NOT release!?! I rotated the wheel and tried 4 times - no go! ??? I sprayed penetrating oil around the rim tonight and will let it sit overnight before trying yet again.

    • @greenhillgarage
      @greenhillgarage 5 місяців тому

      @shug2795 I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but you have to start with the shallow side first (usually the inside bead if the wheel was on a vehicle) Having a little air pressure in the tire can help ensure that the majority of the weight from the board is going onto the bead instead of just squishing the sidewall. While it's a challenge to get a bead like yours unseated, it's not impossible. Make sure you have a spotter who can ensure that the board is going to catch the bead and is basically rubbing up against the rim. It may take a few attempts, rotate the tire so that each attempt is slightly over from the last attempt. Another trick you can try is to give the side of the board that is on the ground some height. A few inches will change the point of leverage and can make all the difference on a tire with a very soft sidewall. If all else fails and the tire is trash, you can easily cut the tire off at the siewall. Use an angle grinder to cut the metal band in the bead, but be careful not to tear up the rim. If you want to save the tire, I highly recommend investing in a harbor freight manual bead breaker. It's the one that uses a bolt to push down on the bead. I finally bought one a week ago for some tractor tires and I kicked myself for not getting it sooner.
