Great video Jon!
@@freshair6201 thank you!
I have yet to get. To 10,000
@@wkboggs5 it's definitely interesting up there in these types of birds lol
there is another guy that got shaken down by a tribe the ones that gave him permission lied and tried to keep his plane until he went to court
Wow, more videos popping up of the natives not honoring their own permits, and trying to shake down and extort white men. Seems to be extremely common, and getting worse. I'm sure you've seen the video where they tried to take a guys Mooney.
Yes I actually reference it in this video
The natives will shake down their own mother.
@jmcguire5151 I definitely didn't want this to become a negative thing about that but it definitely seems to be a trend. It's honestly not to different than us in the US we are great It's our leaders that suck.
What the hell you want to get that hi for? You will do anything to make a UA-cam video.
@waynelookout well I do make you tube videos? I definitely have wanted to do it since I've had it to see the characteristics but hey atleast I'm out here doing it. Good thing I don't let negative comments keep me down
My family has done a lot for the Indian tribes over the years.I'm so disappointed in how they act now.I won't even go to an indian casino ever again. I can also tell you.I understand the indians wanting other people to respect their land it's a big problem when you have land.
A friend of mine back in the 70s drowned in Arizona. The Indian hospital a few blocks away turned a 6 year old non-indian away and they had to drive 30 mins to the closest other hospital. By some miracle she survived. It's been going in for a while. It's just more known with social media.
That’s sick
@@Supercharlee to be determined 😆 🤣
I bet I could find it with a drone
@corej25 these trees created a ceiling that was crazy we flew over in a cessna 182 it felt like a waste of time. What drone do you use?
@@TheJonjonj I fly the latest DJI stuff. I’d fly slow and 100 ft up from tree tops in a grid pattern then take the video home and look for debris. The newer drones have 5+ mile range and 45 min flight time.
This is some spooky shit. You got robbed both literally and in the search trying to find it. They were up to something in there for sure
Lesson learned for sure! Thanks for watching!
There is respect for tribal laws and rules and then there is being shaken down by the tribe. The incident, UA-cam vids, mentioned about a pilot who landed on a tribal unrestricted airstrip and then had the tribe wanting to confiscate his plane is an example.
@@nederlander9321 I agree!

@qmether I wasn't given the coordinates but your probably close but it was just described to me. I was told it hasn't been on any satellite images because as you seen in the Pic it was in so many scattered pieces
@qmether I think that's too far north I see what you're seeing too I wonder what that is? Don't forget about the bonanza too

Good morning Jon
@@AlfredoCastillo-mf4fg good morning!
A few questions: Do you have enough room on the nose wheel for a larger tundra type tire? And how many feet do you think you would need to clear 100' obstacle and also to drop in over same 100' obstacle and land full stop? My back yard is 1500' deep to the tree line.
@user-ts5wf3jv8i so many factors from the location like the altitude and weather in your area? Do you plan to have a passenger? 1500 is plenty in most cases but if you're heavy with two people or have a larger fuel tank that might be an issue! Yes some people do a bigger front tire I just keep mine stock for now but definitely can be larger
@@TheJonjonj Thanks for the reply. I'm early in my training. I have about 10 hours in Evektor Sport Star. But now really wanting to transition to an affordable STOL (undecided on tail wheel). I'm almost 6'2 280lbs and yes plan on sport license to carry 1 passenger. Live near the Mississippi River in SW MS. We have a camp on the homochitto river with two gravel/sand bars both about 2700' long and 300'-400' wide. Wanting a STOL to fly from my home which is 68 miles away to the camp. And hop from one gravel bar to the next along the river.
Awesomeness!!!! Brings back good memories!
Hmmm.. I would consider umm aiding a powerhouse that has the redundancy, and some floats that only weigh a few pounds and can't be removed which let the plane weigh up to 330 pounds.. it uhh, still weighs 254lbs without the floats.. but the darn things just don't come off anymore to check.
EXCELLENT👍👍😎 CWS2 pilot
I have well over 1000 crow hopes. I’m a firm believer in doing them, you can learn a lot about yourself and your plane. But like you said, do them properly.
You end up with the stick in your gut, nose high with a 300 feet a minute descent, it wont break, it just sort of mushes along. Even power on stalls are a non event.
An opinion on a Kolb light-sport anyone?
Lol! The "Scam ad" was posted by someone who can't even spell...(but I'm sure you can trust his workmanship !-)
@jimmielittle4414 😆 facts. It's getting crazy out there I seen a post today a guy got took $5k on Garmin G5 but guess what it wasn' treal... people why is this happening?
I have the same problem but a few of my bolts/posts just spin rather than tighten down. Are the bolt heads inside the wall?
Grab the bolt with plyers after nut is high up use open ended wrench and tighten it
Thanks for sharing good stuff I need to put more thought into an engine out possibility 👍🇺🇸

@@reecedodd1105 dang! What happened to it?
@@TheJonjonj I believe the prior owner had bent and re-straightened the front nose gear shaft and I was taxiing through some thicker grass and the shaft literally snapped in half and the gear went straight through the fabric under my feet. @@TheMainePilot thanks bro!
I have the Yaesu FTA-450. Great radio. I picked it up on sale with the rechargeable battery, headset adapter, alkaline battery tray for around $200. It takes a few minutes to understand programming favorites and setting up scans for all channels, or stored memory channels. The more you use it the easier it is to remember the setup - and to be able to find the squelch button by feel. In my area (a little further west) there is almost never any chatter on "fingers" (123.45). When it comes to stalls, the most surprising is the accelerated stall on the base to final turn. Especially if the pilot is trying to correct an overshoot from a too-long base leg. Know how your stall speed is affected by bank angle!
@@bradrobinhancock8491 yea mine grew on me but it took a year or two lol

@@TheJonjonj definitely not a good day to mess around
Challenger is one of the safest airplanes. Experimentals that you can fly. It has a 10 to 1 glide ratio. That is why you have a hard time stalling out with power on climbing. With power off, it will stall under stall speed. And once it gains speed, it will level it Self back out.. . If you're under speed ,then it will stall Coming in for final. That is your most dangerous time. It is best to keep your speed up. Around 40 to 45 miles an hour to be on the safe side. I'm 69 years old. I remember those challenges back in the 80s and 90s. That is a nice-looking challenger. Enjoy.🫵🫡‼️ Any dog is unpredictable, if not raised, right🫵‼️ Just like a child that grows up. Don't know how they're going to turn out even if you raise them right. They have a mind of their own dogs are the same way. I have raised pit bulls. All my life, I have one now. That is fully trained, and I've had one before. That was a therapy dog. They are very protective of their grounds. And of their owners. I also have a bull mastiff. And he is trained. They get along great, like brother and sister. But you can always get bad with the good and the good with the bad as flying. It's not to fear. It's always being cautious at all times you always think 2 times faster, then the airplane. Be ready for anything. The main thing you have to remember is to fly the airplane. With engine stalls.🫵‼️
The most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen, massive steel school bus beside the runway. Our Airpark would have someone put in jail for doing that.
@marvlb it's a private Restricted runway he asked me if I wanted him to move it I said no because I know what I'm doing!
Another great video! It gave me a feel of trying stall in summer time. I have not tried it in the summer yet. I just have not been comfortable to try as my Challenger always gets tossed around with thermals. I have done some stall practices in the winter at below freezing temperature. I was around 5500 ASL (field elevation here is around 3400 ASL) and wind was dead calm. The stall speed was around 35 mph. It was uneventful and easy to recover like you mentioned.
@DreamChaser1903 awesome I'm gonna remake this video in the winter! It will be way better! Thank you for watching
Rite at sunrise before the sun heats up the ground
Can I purchase a Challenger kit direct from factory? Also the latest prices. I am from South Africa
@johnpowell1952 I'm not 100% sure but on Facebook look up Mike Harrison he is the go to guy! I believe the cost was too high so they took a break.
Challenger stalls are so easy. I flew Thunderbird and Challenger. Thunderbird drop like a bag of cement and right wing drop. Challenger is one of the safest ultralights to fly.
Awesome content. You are giving me lots of confidence jumping into my Challenger here soon. Finishing up pilot permit - I think my first foray into my Challenger will be on skiis this winter.
@VerticalSpeed1987 awesome I love hearing that! Keep us updated on your progress! I assume you're in Canada?
@@TheJonjonj Yessir. Eastern Ontario, 45min from Montreal.
In Canada, the Challenger 2 is classified as an ultralight. We don't have any classification that allows flight without a license. Even a powered parachute requires an "ultralight pilot permit, which consists mostly of the law, regulations, and basic flight skills. It prevents people from doing stupid things, that can create a hazard, and you can never carry passengers or fly into controlled airspace. Then we have the RPP (Recreational Pilot Permit) which is almost like the full PPL, but you can not fly at night, IMC, and carry only 1 passenger. You can fly anywhere, even into very busy controlled airspace, as all of that is covered in the course. But the instrument portion under the hood and a few other modules are not done because this is for people who want to fly, but have no intention of ever becoming anything other than a recreational pilot. I often get some grief from people saying "a Challenger 2 not an ultralight", but here in the great white north, it is. And you must hold at a minimum of an Ultralight Pilot Permit to fly the Challenger 2, with all the restrictions with that "permit".
@challenger2ultralightadventure yea I like the term ultralight inspired aircraft or fat ultralight but everyone here argues over it I just don't care it says experimental on the side so hey it is what it is lol. Thanks for watching
Not to mention the rules around how the Challenger is registered in Canada - Basic vs Advanced. Same plane. Two different registration status' and rulesets. I'm finishing up my RPP. Makes way more sense than Ultralight Permit and even Private Pilot, honestly.
@VerticalSpeed1987 good job! Can't wait for more flying content from you!
GA pilot here please explain what are the reasons to do crow hops?
@Sierranite in ultralight inspired aircraft or slower experimental people use crow hops to build their confidence and to get the hang of things. I'm also GA pilot so I understand the get up and away fast for safety but in these aircraft it's more low and slow! Everyone has their opinions on it. Main reason for video is IF someone is gonna do it atleast do it safely and understand the expectations

17:30 😅 I was the kid who drove 12 hours to buy a paraglider off craigslist, and accidentally came home with 3 of them and taught myself with books and videos.. I'm glad I did it.. but damn I wish I would have saved more for the real training.. Years later I befriended another paraglider briefly (not many around here) and he was a certified instructor and started asking me questions and realizing i didn't have half the answers made me realize just how little i knew and how much risk I had been undertaking up until that point.. Lucky.. very lucky.. Now I'm looking at doing a home build plane.. I'm happy to listen to ALL suggestions that cost less than 15k all in.. Less is better though <3 I'm "The Flying Hobo" in this hobby
