I had a yaoi phase but it succumbed after I started dating in college and I could never get back into it after that. This is just a theory, but I’ve seen most yaoi/ erotica communities consist of women who are emotionally closed off and to satisfy their romantic fantasies yaoi and erotic/soft porn stories is like an escape mechanism. I'd consider purchasing a Crunchyroll, or any paid streaming service subscription, if they can compete with what I currently have. Which is... * No region-locked anime/manga. * User downloading & Uploading of anime/manga that has been altered, be it better/different subs, or better encoding, giving everyone their perfection variant of the anime/manga. * Remove the ugly orange. All my homies hate orange. No, but really, I hate their UI/UX, and their website is slow and feels like it's built using 2000s technology. I use Jellyfin, which is an open-source program made by a small group of people, and it's leagues better. But I also don't feel safe putting my information on that site. Forget security, I don't even trust Crunchyroll.

I don't have to imagine. I was there. Haruhi was my favorite anime at the time, and watching them waste 8 episodes on this pointless troll move was infuriating. They could have given us so much more of the Haruhi story instead. It's been 15 years, and just thinking about it still makes me angry.

Idk why people get mad about stuff like this. If Crunchyroll became a an Amazon like service for anime stuff, that would be cool for me. Crunchy roll has been my go to since high school. I don’t see anyone else trying as hard as them.

high spice guardian is the reason why i stopped my subscription with crunchyroll. If all the anime pirated sites got shut id very much rather read the mangas than give money to crunchyroll

Luckily I downloaded it and wasn’t watching live, but it was really something to behold. I watched all 8 episodes in one night in utter shock. For years people would go on forums asking if something was wrong with their dvds or downloads. Still an amazing series and well respected.

Your last point sums it all, the creators have made such a brilliant show that it is not at all easy for any sequel to top it off. For most people including me Code Geass is Lelouch.

We ought to thank the OG anime veterans for doing this and for making subs with such primitive and tedious equipment. Without them anime wouldn't have grown enough in the west for these companies to begin releasing official versions and more importantly we wouldn't have the modern anime community nor its culture effecting the rest of the internet that we do today.

I thought I watched this entire show, and the movie. I don't' remember this though, so maybe not. Maybe I missed the entire second season.

One day you people will see a youtube video unearthing this obscure old show called "Jujutsu Kaisen" and you will know my pain.

The issue is that they don't even depict the cultures correctly. Everything is (of course) romanticized, they show only the good parts of the culture and the Western cultures depicted in the game are also twisted to fit the IDEA that the company (and China) has about these cultures. They don't depict the actual real life culture, but then Genshin player base is not the type of people to even take note of this. Or care about it. Anime lovers need an outlet from the world, they will gladly take this rose tinted view as reality. But that is dangerous, because they forget that behind the aesthetic appearance of the game is still a company controlled by the CCP. And just like TikTok, Genshin was designed to make impressionable people as addicted as can be and buy into everything that is handed to them under control of the CCP. Mihoyo is not a free company that can show their game how they want, but players don't care. As long as they can escape reality for the duration of playtime, they will ignore every controversy with the company and Chinese government. Just like with TikTok. Also I firmly believe the game was actually designed by AI, gathering the most addicting and appealing features of past and modern gaming into one game, then the company reviewed everything and made it a hit. Their previous games weren't as hyped as Genshin and suddenly, there's this behemoth of a game on the market...for FREE. And as always, when something is to be used for free, the user (player) is the actual product. I mena gatheirng data about the users and selling the data to thrid parties and companies is HUGE all aroudn the world. It's an information war between countries and China is known for all it's spying. So basically they somehow recreate Zero Requiem with Sakuya aka. Lelouch and Ash aka. Suzaku only the roles are reversed. It's Sakuya aka. Lelouch who survives with guilt of "killing" her friend and perhaps love and Ash aka. Suzaku dies in the end with guilt of leaving her behind and somewhat content of being able to avenge his brother's death by Norland von Lunebelg's hands. Fun fact: looked up Norland's name because I didn't remember how it was spelled and found out there is an actual game on steam by the name Norland lol!!

I wish hoyoverse wasn’t controlled by ccp. Not trying to make EVERYTHING about stupid skin problems but Hoyoverse would’ve gotten away with a lot more melanin if it wasn’t owned by the stupid government. Not only that but hoyoverse and other big Chinese companies are being used as support for the government (Uyghur genocide). For those who don’t know, the reason why everything is made in China is because the Chinese government owns a camp for a turkish/chinese ethnic group called the Uyghurs because they practice Islam (China being a stupid communist country and all). Once Chinese companies become very big with media and exports globally (Shein, temu, Hoyoverse), by law they are then “adopted” by the Chinese government. The government used the companies’ income for the camps of Uyghurs forced to work in China. I may be wrong about this, but as a Chinese Muslim, this makes me really sad. On one hand I would like people to appreciate my culture, but I don’t like it when it is in a way of being harmful to Muslims…
