I've never watched or read Rent-A-Girlfriend but I occasionally check up on people talking about it, whether it be on reddit or on youtube. LIke I'm watching a fungal colony develop on a piece of stale bread left out on the dining table for three months. From what I've experienced, this is definitely the ideal way to experience Rent-A-Girlfriend. 3/10, would recommend.
I started reading after watching the anime, and thinking, boy this is similar to Scott Pilgrim vs the World (loser guy, vindictive ex, distant love interest, younger suitor) and hoping it would give an appropriate "coming of age" story for Kazuya. Boy, was I wrong...
Every once in a while I think about going back to read KanoKari again just to see if anything has happened. But I'd like to preserve what brain cells I have left.
it is actually a parody of No Exit by french philosopher jean paul satre, kazuya much lke garcin is unable to make judgement for himself. His actions are dictated by his fear of being judged by chizuru, and yet his individuality lies in chizuru too, without her, he has no essence. So not only does he not confront the responsibility of his freedom to confess to her, when given the choice to stop renting her and end the cycle, he refuses to do so. Much like when garcin was offered to leave the room, he refuses. I would say the mangaka has achieved the purpose when people complain about it being frustrating, hell is other people afterall, there is no exit for people who cannot change.
I dunno how you missed the fact that the dude pounding Chizuru in the ntr fantasy broke her leg and she liked it. There's no way Kazuya can compete with that.
Personally, I think That the joy of rent a girl is just how stupid the whole thing is. I went into knowing it was really... somthing. So when everything resets and no progress is made, its like thats the punchline of some stupid and longwinded joke that Very few people find funny. I think its funny personally. I guess the reason I find the anime fun to watch is that you KNOW nothing will progress and you just gotta see what creative gymnastics are going to take place to ensure it. but that might just be me.
The best part about this manga is the weekly reddit thread, it's amazing seeing people stuck in a time loop irl
funniest shit ive ever read
8 months later, this is still going. Redditors literally gave you 👎🏻 for spittin facts about how Reiji and the manga are a mess 😂

Hearing about the state of KanoKari reminded me of this phrase.
Every once in a while I think about going back to read KanoKari again just to see if anything has happened.

You’re underrated af

I like how you think but at the same time I will literally eat a sock if Reiji has ever read Sartre.
it can't be that ba- 7:02 AYO WUT
It's like hearing a tv series. Nothing changes at the end.

The story seems like an endless cycle of not being able to let go. Reiji and his team are too talented to make garbage.
I used to defend Kanokari as well back at chapter 140 or so, dark days
nice video, always happy to hear someone rant. can someone inform me what the music is at around 4:25?
