I Play 100 Days in Stardew Valley, but I Can Only Sell Seeds! - Update 1.6
This is my first 100 day video! I played 100 days in Stardew Valley, but I challenged myself to sell nothing but seeds. How much money can be made with seeds and how much can I accomplish without the typical money-makers?
Mods used:
Experience Bars - Top left corner on some of the full screen captures. These just track skill level up progress.
ItsStardewTime - In this playthrough, I just use it for tracking time down to the minute. In multiplayer, it’s nice for managing time speed during cut scenes and inventory management.
MovementSpeed - This allows scaling of movement speed. I actually intended for this to be off, but it was set a 1.2x and I didn’t notice when recording. If things look a little fast, it could be a combination of this, editing of clip speeds, or food buffs. Sorry the oversight on that. Hopefully this doesn’t tarnish the run too much.

Mushroom Logs - Are They Worth It? Stardew Valley 1.6 Update
Love the Video, thanks 😊 What do the rules say about upgrading the trash can and throwing things away for profit?
Oh, good question. I guess I never mentioned that in the video. The trash can felt a little like cheating, so decided against it 😜 Totally your call if you wanna try it though. It definitely would have made things easier. Tysm! It really means a lot 💕
I am INSPIRED! I'm going to try this challenge! I might go the Joja route, though, as you said. Early greenhouse could make a HUGE difference, especially with lots of hops and corn, and possibly blueberries.
Woo! I think the first couple weeks are the hardest. Getting the greenhouse earlier will help for sure! All good choices for seed making, but hops will be the best for farming experience to hit level 9. If you plan it out, a bit, you'll be fine. Good luck, and let us know how it goes 💕
Your fishing skill AMAZES me! I HATE trying to catch the glacier fish. I am NOT good at the mini game.
Haha. Thank you! I probably spend more time fishing than most, but don't worry, I still miss my fair share, and I'm definitely not on the level of farming Legend II like some of the really good fishers. Sometimes the hard ones just come down to luck.
How did you get a HEART as a fishing lure?! WOW! You're doing really well, here! Sorry about getting all twitchy at you before.
In 1.6, a bobber machine was added to the fish shop. As you catch more different types of fish, you get access to a bunch of different bobbers. Oh, and no worries! I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Oh, no. Get the mushroom cave. With all teh common mushrooms you get, you will be DROWNING in Fall Seeds that you can sell for a bundle!
Oh, I take it back. You definitely did the right thing with the cave and the mushroom logs! So smart! I keep forgetting mushroom logs. I got in the habit of the mushroom cave, and never looked back, but this IS a good set-up.
When you're looking for Pam, if she's not at home or the saloon, try Joja Mart (unless the bus is running, in which case she's at the bus stop, daily, from 10 to 5, except on rare exceptions, like her doctor visit or the desert festival).
WHY do you carry your watering can around town and INTO THE MINES? What do you expect to water in the MINES?! Sorry, but this is one of those things that drive me crazy when you're starting out with only 12 inventory slots.
Your voice is so soothing
Fruit because forage xp is a pain in the ass to grind
Coffee is a multi season spring and summer powerhouse, b tier feels dosrespectful
Why doesn't she eat fish. No selling of course?
I ate at least one fish! 🤣 I don't often eat fish in normal playthroughs, so I guess I'm just not used to it. In all fairness though, after getting mushroom logs, I was pretty well stocked with purple mushrooms for the second half of the playthrough. If I ever ran out of energy after that, it was probably because I was dumb and didn't refill my bag with mushrooms. Anyway, thanks for watching!
Flowers are awesome! I can't imagine my game without them, they make the farm look so cute and I also like to have them in pots indoors for decor. I don't usually play for profit and I'm never in a rush so I enjoy the littler things more.
That's awesome. I've wanted to do a flower-focused run for a while. I hope I get time for it eventually. Thanks for watching!
@Kitadollx What a great idea, I would love to watch something like that!
5.30 "a good reminder to cut the chickens"??? 😂😂 what did the chikems do to you😅
Im currently trying to get to the walnut room before the update drops for console. I plan on play as a duck farmer my current farm was supposed to be that but uh... Ya i have 2 cows and a pic and 2 dinos and 2 rabbits and 1 duck.... Ya whoops never doung community center again i like joja better
This is a lovely video! For some reason you are really quiet anywhere but my phone though. For me when I get access to 1.6 on console, I wanna try to achieve perfection without using keg spam. Stick to all the other new ways they added to make money, as well as starting on the meadows farm for that lovely blue grass. Look forward to binging this in the morning, I am typing this as I’m fixing to go to bed.
Tysm! I played a run without the artisan profession or crafting a bunch of kegs, jars, etc., and I really recommend it for experiencing all the new stuff. Enjoy 1.6 and thanks for watching!
prismatic shard % was useful
Fairy Roses are also used later in the Fairy Dust recipe and Fairy Dust is used to immediately finish Kegs, Preserve Jars, and the Egg/Milk/Cloth machines! Really great - and I now honestly keep a rotating cycle of them growing year round over on Ginger Island.
I love this! What incredible luck with the prismatic shards, in a run where you can't even sell them. Your commentary is really funny, you deserve way more subscribers than you currently have. That zoom in on the 6969 :D
I subscribed, and am inspired to try the challenge! I've actually never done a 100 day challenge before
Just giving you a heads up, there is something going on with your audio. It makes a loud crack every now and again when you start a sentence.
Oh no! I must have missed those in the final render. Sorry about that. I don't know if there's anything I can do without a re-upload, but I'll try to see. Thanks for watching anyway!
I haven't played Stardew in a really long time - Sun Haven pretty much became my go-to pixel-art farming game - but I didn't realize how many more maps had come out since last I played. Maybe I ought to give it another shot at some point, though. Meadowlands looks so pretty!
“Certified second hottest milf” - okay, I have two questions: 1. Who’s doing the certification? 🤣 2. Who’s a hotter milf??? (I mean, Olivia in SVE, but who in vanilla?) Nah, seriously, great video and I hope you keep getting more and more subscribers, because you’re currently my favourite Stardew youtuber 😊
It's probably either Caroline or Sandy, if it's anything else I'd be surprised.
@@Hermit_WishNo way, Sandy looks to be the same age as Emily
@@gagamer2145 🤷, a lot of stardew fans guesstimate Emily is late 20's and Sandy early 30's. Going by that logic, it can be possible.
Stardew valley smash or pass incoming 👀💕✨ (also thank you so much for that, I could literally cry)
12:20 that was funny
not trying to be rude, but isnt your speed a little too fast? are you using a mod to walk faster?
i assume shes just speeding up the clips themselves
That's actually a fair question. I have a movement speed mod installed, but I had intended for it to be completely off during the challenge. After checking, it looks like it was set to 1.2x speed and I didn't notice it while recording the playthrough. That, combined with editing the clips and speed buffs from food can make it seem extra fast sometimes. Either way, thanks for bringing it up. I'm going to add a list of mods I had active in the video details. Thanks for watching, and sorry if that spoils the run for you or anyone else. I'll definitely keep a closer eye on that next time.
Can you sell eggs as chicken seeds? 😂
I like the way you think 😜
@@Kitadollx I mean, they DO GROW CHICKENS, so,.. I vote YES! Also, I've been doing a "Speed Run Chicken Challenge," where I start on Meadowlands farm, and name myself, my farm, my pet, and all my chickens with the [code] naming convention to give myself as much of a boost as possible. My rule is that I can abuse the heck out of the naming convention (named myself Treasure Chest Prismatic Shard Lucky Lunch, sold my first prismatic shard to Clint, bought a telephone from Robin, and at 12:30, started spam-calling Gus, to get a fortune in things to sell), but I can only do it for ONE WEEK. So, my goal is to complete the Community Center (and if possible, the Movie Theater) before the end of Summer Year 1. My progress? Well, thanks to naming conventions, I wound up with three rooms complete at the end of the first week, and I only need 3 mountain lake fish for the fish tank, and some spring and summer crops for the pantry and the bulletin board. Pro-tip: Stop calling Gus in time to sell to Clint again, Day 1, head up to Robin's to buy wood and stone and get started on upgrading the coop, rush to Pierre's and upgrade your backpack, and then hit the saloon for COFFEEEEE! Then, back to bed to call Gus 400 times (or more. Sometimes, he doesn't say your name). Then, sell all the treasure chests in the bin, and rush to Clint to sell all but 30 or so prismatic shards,. Purchase copper and coal from Clint! At least 45 copper and 5 coal, so you can craft a furnace and make 5 copper bars. Give Haley Lucky Lunch, or use some of your chickens to stock up on Pink Cakes or Fruit Salad for her, and prismatic shards for easy stackable loved gifts for everyone else. Get those friendships up, fast! On Tuesday, Robin will already be working on the coop, and the chickens must be pet and fed, but you can't buy more chickens, yet. Go ahead and chop a lot of trees for sap, for fertilizer, and buy the seeds you're going to plant. But DO NOT PLANT THEM, YET! Clear out your farming area, and place flooring for six IRIDIUM SPRINKLERS WITH PRESSURE NOZZLES! Get that ready to go, because you will definitely have them by the time Marnie closes on Wednesday. The code you need is [645][915] Then add [##] with whatever TWO DIGIT code you like. Personally, I like 66, 67, 68, and 69 for the dwarven scrolls. And then I go through the gemstones, with 60 through 72, and 80 through 86 (not all the numbers). Also, I just go ahead and ensure I have all the spring forage with 16, 18, 20 and 22. Anyway, check the list of codes at: mateusaquino.github.io/stardewids/ Remember, you can have AT MOST 14 characters. Sometimes, it's less, when you use wide letters, like W W is used when you are naming your farm "Infinity Blade Ancient Seed" or your pet "Iridium Scythe Coffee Bean" But remember to take your 5 copper bars and your watering can (or whichever tool you prefer, but it WILL rain on Wednesday) to Clint's to upgrade it to copper. Oh, and remember to check your mushroom cave! It produces on even numbered days, starting today, since you are already a millionaire. End the day with a few hundred calls to Gus before you head to beddybye at midnight, and sell your treasure chests and half your prismatic shards. On Wednesday, you can start selling your chickens, rush down to Marnie (USE COFFEE!) and buy more chickens, pet them and sell them, back to Marnie, etc., until she closes at 4 pm. Then do whatever else you want to do that day. Repeat on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The week is now over. Have you planned your chicken names properly? Did you get all the BASE QUALITY items you need for the community center? Remember, you MUST grow crops to get the quality crops, so you might as well not waste chicken names on sunflowers and poppies and wheat and the spring/summer crops. But DO get the fall crops (except corn, which is also a summer crop) and remember to get all the forageables! If you upgrade your axe to copper, you can chop the stumps on your farm to get the hardwood for the construction. So, with chicken names, you unlock the bridge (crafting room), the mine carts (boiler room) and the bus to the desert (vault - easiest one, since it's just simply cash), and are almost done with your fish tank (BE SURE TO GET WALLEYE AND TIGER TROUT! YOU CANNOT CATCH THEM TILL FALL, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!) and almost all of your pantry. You can hold off on naming chickens "Large Egg" or "Large Milk" or "Wool," if you want, but it's OK to go ahead and get that done. But wait until last, in case you arrive at Marnie's at 4 pm, and she's already closed for teh day, and you miss out on a round of chickens. You WILL get the animal products before the end of summer. But, since you want the Movie Theater, too, be sure to get at least one RAIN TOTEM [681], to ensure you get the storm you need to trigger the junimo in the movie theater building. After 1 week (and mind you, I COULD HAVE done even better, if I'd been more focused, and didn't get distracted by smelting. Guess who arrived at Marnie's at 4 pm, instead of 3:40?), I had over 6 million gold, and an almost complete community center. Imagine going to the Desert Festival in the first year, and still not being an "evil Joja drone." HAHAhahAhAHAAAAAAAaaA! And now that my week is up, I DO NOT call Gus, and I DO NOT spam chicken names. I have, in fact, purchased ducks and rabbits to fill out my coop. And I'm growing a dinosaur and I will grow a void chicken and a GOLDEN CHICKEN (Golden Egg [928]) in my coop, and my house is upgraded, and I'm now adding my barn (since I finally got the land cleared for it). i'm still looking for that tenth piece of clay for a silo, but I can buy 999 hay at a time, so who cares? I have SIX MILLION GOLD, y'all! Now, it's interesting to see what a difference it makes to my early game play, simply having that one week head start. I made sure to end my week with a GOOD supply of prismatic shards and pink cakes, and am gifting right and left, and several people say my name when thanking me for a loved gift, which helps to restock my supplies. But other than the odd "say my name" thing, I'm not spamming cheat codes. I DID get lucky with Lewis saying the name of my farm, and Marnie has mentioned my pet, by name, as well. So, that's nice. With 21 iridium sprinkers and pressure nozzles, I am READY for the greenhouse, an expanded farm, or ginger island. I'll probably focus on pigs on the farm, and save my sprinklers for the greenhouse (5) and the rest for Ginger Island. I went to the Desert Festival, and hit the Skull Caverns. I only had a steel pickaxe by then, so it was kind of slow, but the challenge for the day was to kill flying serpents, so it wasn't so bad. I went from level 2 combat to level 4 and earned 35 calico eggs! I'm loving it! I may actually do Perfection in this run-through. I HAVE set myself a challenge, though: NO MORE CODES until year 2, IF I need help with the museum. But ONLY for the museum. I plan to do another run-through with the cheaty chickens, but doing a Joja run, just to see if I can watch a movie, before the first spring is out. Hahahah! Also, I have NEVER had an auto-petter, and I WanT TO TRY THEEEEEMmm!
I know it's very unpopular opinion but...I give a Kale B-rate. It's my farming kickstart on Spring Year 1. You just...sell starting parsnip, so you have 650 gold. You buy 9x Kale for 630. When you gather it, you have 150xp+ = farming level up to 1 (Scarecrow!) and about a 1000 gold of profit. And you buy more Kale seeds. With focusing mainly on Kale, you should have Farming level 3 on 1st Summer Year one. That's why I give a Kale a little credit.
I think sunflower seeds will be a good thing for this challenge
It was fixed in 1.6 joja seeds now sell for 20
@@zaineoakley5555I don't think that matters if you're specifically farming seeds. You'd get a seed from the seed maker as well as the seed you collect.
That was a cool challenge.
I am finally doing a run and actually trying. Instead of making it to year two and thinking about restarting on another map. Putting all of that (crappy) experience together, my current run hit 1 mil a few days into Spring 2. So the fact you limited yourself to seeds and made almost 700k in the first year...... Time to go back to Hello Kitty Island Adventure.... 😭
You consider it challenging 😂
Thank you for the list! I think sting ray is very underrated. It gives you battery, one of the most resourceful ingredients before you have solar panel recipe. It also helps you produce dragon tooth which is quite hard to obtain. Not to mention cind shards & magma cap! Maybe it's not worth that much when we sell those, but those are keys ingredients for others.
She did potatoes dirty they’re the best early game spring crop because they have a chance of doubling when you harvest it
This was a fantastic video. You explained everything super well and it was relaxing and informative. Your voice is super calming 😅 I subscribed!
Aww 😊 I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for watching and subscribing! 💕
You deserve more than 2k subs! You have a great voice and this info was presented well. Thanks for making my drive to work this morning more interesting! Subbed.
I really think you underrate kale here. It's on par with the other top crops for spring with the added benefit of quick harvesting. It's a go-to for any strategy to unlock the desert before year 1 summer so you can farm starfruit. Once you get that going, you can easily make ridiculous money the first year. You also keep acting like scythe harvesting is bad, while scythe harvesting during the entire video. I can't imagine that's not bait though. It's by far more efficient and convenient than harvesting by hand.
I don't get how Rancher is above Tiller. Maybe as a base profession it's better, but considering Tiller unlocks Artisan which is MILES above Shepherd and Coopmaster, shouldn't Tiller be above Rancher for that alone? Especially considering the reasoning of Agriculturalist (or whatever it is) being lower because of how it stacks against Artisan. As for Trapper, I gave it a chance in my last save and I have like 10ish of them. I collected it for like 7ish days and after that I already got bored (combined with Luremaster). Good video tho!
Blacksmith is a really fun build-around playthrough. Selling Iridium bars for 1500 a piece, with a good staircase setup for Skull cavern mining you can easily turn over 200k on a random Sunday, and that's even if you're just buying the coal
The Fairy Rose being craftable into fairy dust is endlessly useful - being able to instantly finish machines is worth the money for the rose and the diamond combined
i would say the cask is not the go-to end of the production line but an additional advanced end for some products while the rest can be sold/gifted/whatever as is
To add another point in favor of wheat, you can turn it into flour and then bread en masse in almost no time and no extra cost (other than the initial investment of mill and kitchen) which sells for 60g or you can make a large stack of it and never worry about health/energy again.
Sunflowers are good for oil. Gets much faster then corn.
Out of curiosit, why the emphasis on exp per crop? Does the max level increase later in the game? For example you mention pinapple gives great farming exp, but also mention youve provably unlocked ginger island by the time you have pinapple. I blasted tbrkugh to max level 10 of farming before the first year was done. It was easy. Does this cap go up or something?
In a sense, yes. With update 1.6, once you've hit level 10 in all 5 skills, you can unlock mastery perks in each skill. Any skill experience contributes, but farming is probably the easiest and most scalable to unlock them quickly. On top of that, it's just really good to level up farming quickly to unlock things like kegs and get the artisan profession, which contributes a lot to making money. Experience is just one factor, but when some crops get you 2-3x as much as others over the course of a season, it's definitely worth taking note. Thanks for the good question and thanks for watching!
No way, you caught me slacking and trying to sleep from your voice😂
Stone fences breaks down a bit too fast, I would suggest using iron fences who is a bit more sturdy instead. You still want to merge the slime hunter ring to one of the rings you wear anyways, while even Tiger slimes aren't the most dangerous monster, not taking damage from them helps a lot on any Skull cavern or Volcano run. It is not a cash cow building but since it generate money and require very little maintaining, having one in a corner somewhere and looting it once or twice every season is well worth it unless you are speedrunning. I don't think having more then 1 is worth it though since having many will take up valuable space you could put a large shed on, a barn with pigs or grow something.
great vid! started playing as soon as 1.6 came out. reached perfection in 1 month real time bc i was obsessed haha. i did the joja route on the forest farm (for the achievement idk why i picked farm i did) to get it outta the way. am now doing the riverlands farm and it was hell until i got the greenhouse lol. the fish smoker exploit is fun bc each house you can buy and destruct at robins for only 100 dollars lol 😆 anyway subscribed! gonna try the beach farm next i think
Woo! Nice work. The beach will feel so spacious after riverland 🤣 Tysm for watching and enjoy your next playthrough!
i like your voice
I hope one day we get an Orchard map. Let us start with 1 or 2 fruit trees (full grown spring, or 1 spring 1 summer sapling maybe)
hey! video looks great, but the music is way too loud, hope that can be fixed in future videos!
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep an eye on that and hopefully have that sweet spot dialed in going forward. Thanks for watching!
I like variety and enjoy all of the machines to give me multiple streams of revenue. I usually save all of my goat cheese for the first round in the basement as goat cheese is higher value aged than regular cheese, which I save for mining food. Then I switch to wine because I enjoy the single large pay outs every so often.
I think you forgot one factor that improve the profit but it only works in fall: Junimo huts. Raisin fed junimos will increase your harvest by 20% which usually isn't something massive but considering how much the berries sell for, a 20% increased profit is a nice bonus. It is something worth considering if you are making a none artisan play through at least.
That's actually a really good point. The scientists didn't check the math on this, and we could be wrong, but it sounds like the 20% bonus should disproportionately affect sweet gem berries more than other crops, because: 1. Seed making is required, but the total seeds needed to replenish crops will not scale with bonus fruit, so you effectively lower the fraction of total crops that need to be made into seeds. 2. Since you only lose the lowest quality crops to seed making, the crops you sell will have higher quality on average, assuming you have at least level 10 farming. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching!
@@Kitadollx I think it is fair, 20% increase is 20%. There is basically 3 differences: You need fewer junimo huts to earn as much money, it is hard to buy enough seeds and time consuming to grow so each berry is more important then any other crop. But it is balanced. It is just a shame that you can't build a hut on the Ginger island farm, so it only works a quarter of the year. It is very hard to grow more then 1 batch during fall too, with 24 days to grow you need both the agriculturist trait and that 33% faster Speed-gro you can get the recipe for Qi gems to pull it off and is theoretical since I haven't tried it, but you should be able to harvest the second batch the last day of fall if it works as intended. Otherwise you need a visit from the crop fairy in the first few days. I don't think I grown more then like 15 sweet gem berries on my farm so far, I have used the junimos for my starfruit with great effect which is why I thought of them. Thanks for the vid, I do like the idea of running a game only selling fresh crop and might be running a gem berry/truffle game next time I make a new farm. It sounds like fun. 😀
For trellis crops, I usually stick 8 of them around an Iridium sprinkler and then plant whatever else around them. I've never used the Junimo huts because you don't get XP for the crops they harvest and I'm on a Riverland farm where space is limited. 😅
