    It’s SO painful when a Sweet Gem Berry goes into the seed maker and Mixed Seeds come out! 😢😅

      There’s also a remix bundle called the “Rare Crops” bundle. You can either use an ancient fruit or sweet gem berry.

    You can put Gem Berries in Garden Pots??? wow. I know on one of my worlds I was trying to get enough Gem Berries to plant the entire Ginger Island garden and got tired of it... But if I can just stuff them into Garden Pots I may give this another go.

    the low effort is a definite selling point for sweet gem berries. I'll take the slight hit to profits in exchange for more time to spend on other things... i like your gem berries/fairy honey layout, too. seeing the numbers on the screen after a big harvest day on that farm must feel amazing haha
    thanks for the video!

    the low maintenance required makes these fruit the most profitable. Every minute you spent putting something in a keg is an minute you could have spend dungeon dwelving, fishing or wooing girls

    4:55 - _"Unfortunately, you can probably only support a single digit number of plants over the course of the year with purchased [rare] seeds."_
    In Spring and Summer, the cart is guaranteed to have at least one every time. I'm not sure if this applies to special events like the desert festival, so I'm not going to count it. So twice a week * 4 weeks * 2 months == 16 seeds minimum. There is a 10% chance (according to the wiki) that it will sell up to 5, so it is likely that you will be able to buy around 21 - 26 seeds a year, more if you get really lucky with RNG. It is also possible to appear as normal stock all year round, though pretty rare in my experience.

    • @Kitadollx
      @Kitadollx  12 днів тому

      Yep. Over the course of the year, this would average out to be ~6 seeds per season. You can save them all to grow in fall outdoors, or you could grow 4-6 at a time in the greenhouse, for example. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

    Well done. I buy as many as I can in spring and summer year one. The maintenance-free/no keg crafting profit is just too good.

    I think you forgot one factor that improve the profit but it only works in fall: Junimo huts. Raisin fed junimos will increase your harvest by 20% which usually isn't something massive but considering how much the berries sell for, a 20% increased profit is a nice bonus.
    It is something worth considering if you are making a none artisan play through at least.

    • @Kitadollx
      @Kitadollx  Місяць тому +2

      That's actually a really good point. The scientists didn't check the math on this, and we could be wrong, but it sounds like the 20% bonus should disproportionately affect sweet gem berries more than other crops, because:
      1. Seed making is required, but the total seeds needed to replenish crops will not scale with bonus fruit, so you effectively lower the fraction of total crops that need to be made into seeds.
      2. Since you only lose the lowest quality crops to seed making, the crops you sell will have higher quality on average, assuming you have at least level 10 farming.
      Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching!

    • @loke6664
      @loke6664 Місяць тому

      @@Kitadollx I think it is fair, 20% increase is 20%. There is basically 3 differences: You need fewer junimo huts to earn as much money, it is hard to buy enough seeds and time consuming to grow so each berry is more important then any other crop.
      But it is balanced. It is just a shame that you can't build a hut on the Ginger island farm, so it only works a quarter of the year.
      It is very hard to grow more then 1 batch during fall too, with 24 days to grow you need both the agriculturist trait and that 33% faster Speed-gro you can get the recipe for Qi gems to pull it off and is theoretical since I haven't tried it, but you should be able to harvest the second batch the last day of fall if it works as intended.
      Otherwise you need a visit from the crop fairy in the first few days.
      I don't think I grown more then like 15 sweet gem berries on my farm so far, I have used the junimos for my starfruit with great effect which is why I thought of them.
      Thanks for the vid, I do like the idea of running a game only selling fresh crop and might be running a gem berry/truffle game next time I make a new farm. It sounds like fun. 😀

    I've recently been struggling to find a use for challenge bait. The moss makes it expensive and it only seems worth it if multiple fish in an area are interesting, such as blue discus for money/gifting and midnight carp for food. But outside the Ginger Island pond late a night, I can't justify using it.

    • @FabioCapela
      @FabioCapela 2 місяці тому +4

      If you get a fishing blessing from the statue then use it for the first three catches of the day. With the blessing and proper buffs you might be able to get three triple lava eel catches in the volcano caldera, and nine smoked iridium quality lava eels are a pretty penny, specially if you have Angler and Artisan.

    • @Storm-li1re
      @Storm-li1re 2 місяці тому

      @@FabioCapela I've considered that option, but I don't think it holds up. With challenge bait, the chance of hooking a lava eel at the volcano is 1/8. So you can catch at most 3 lava eels with 8 casts. If you fish with targeted baith, you'll hook at lava eel 57% of the time. Even if you account for turning some of the lava eel into bait, you'll probably still catch 4 lava eels in 8 casts.

      @@Storm-li1re You are forgetting the important part - the Statue of Blessings Fish blessing that makes the first 3 catches of the day easier.
      But I don't know... I have not tried the Challenge Bait at all (or fishing with the blessing for that matter).
      But Moss isn't expensive unless you are in the first year or two. Or did you Vinegar all the Trees around the map? If you need Moss then take your Scythe and wack the all the Trees.

    I've wondered if speed grow or fertilizer is better for raw fruit.

    • @Anska5126
      @Anska5126 15 днів тому

      With no Processing, I'd say fertiliser. I made a crop chart where I compare all crop prices (At normal quality of course to make it fair) and then picked out the best crops for profit and the ones I should grow for other uses like food. Speed grow is useful for trying to get as many products out as possible because no matter the quality, they'll all end up as the same price as Jelly, Wine, Pickles or Juice
      Blueberries are a great example since they give 3 regular, 1 of which could be quality. Blueberries being the best money crop of Summer year 1 benefit greatly from being put into Preserve Jars to triple their worth as jelly and so you could apply the 10% Speed grow to get 6 harvests out of them instead of the usual 5. Something that only changes to 7 with Hyper Speed grow and Agriculturalist for 43% Growth. Picking the Artisan profession would then further boost your profits of these little fruits. However, on a no artisan run, Blueberries are still the best crop for money making but you can't rely on a Preserve jar to triple all 3 fruits for you. Using Speed grow would only get you 1 extra harvest for 3 extra berries and a minimum of 150g extra. here it would be better to use fertiliser to boost the first berry of your initial 5 harvests to outperform the benefits of using speed grow to get 3 extras at the end. Throw in Tiller for a bigger net boost and then Level 10 Agriculturalist to get the effects of Speed grow anyway and you now have 6 harvests with boosted quality and boosted prices
      For the next summer, you will have the desert unlocked which means Starfruit. You only need Deluxe Speed grow to get 3 harvests out of it and nothing higher, even with agriculturalist, won't get you any more in 1 season. So again it comes down to 1 more harvest which has a more than fair chance of being normal quality or using fertiliser and farming buffs to try and get the 2 you normally have to much higher qualities. If you can get iridium on one of them you've matched the Speed grow already even if the other is normal. But if both are high quality then you've far surpassed what Speed grow could give you
      In short: Speed grow for artisan Goods and crops you need for other uses like food or wheat for hay, fertiliser for raw crops and pure selling potential
      Edit: In regards to ancient fruit, Although I would turn it into wine and age it, This is one of two crops I wouldn't use Speed grow for. Ancient fruit regrows every 7 days along with the other fruit, pineapple. if you use high power Speed grow you might get a 3rd harvest in but it's not going to change anything and especially not for ancient fruit. Best to just leave it to grow normally and then that way it'll get there on it's own and produce every week like if it would even if you did Speed grow it. The weekly harvest is just way too long to justify it. You can use Fertiliser to increase the value of your excess crops you can't fit into the kegs and casks so you process the Lower quality ones and sell the higher quality ones or just skip the wine all together and just sell high quality ancient fruit. OR you can use Retaining soil and then just let the Ancient fruit grow on it's own off to the side while you focus on other things

    I just wish that ancient fruit wasn't so potent. It would also be nice to have the Genger Island have to deal with seasons. I feel like these two factors are game breaking to me. Then again I mod the hell out of my games so perhaps I should just find a mod to change these things...

      Tbh I think they kind of are supposed to be game breaking? At least Ginger Island is, cause by the time you get to Ginger Island one of the biggest hurdles you have for perfection is Money. You need like probably 15 million at least I think. And personally by the time I get there my total earnings is not even 2mil, I don’t even think I had 1mil in earnings last time I got there. So having a large scale greenhouse is just a nice tool to help you get that, if you use it effectively at least. Besides if ginger island has to deal with seasons, then it’s just…a more inconvenient farm where you have to go out of your way to visit. Although I get wanting more challenge or even just finding that game breaking potential overwhelming
