    I tend to use my Greenhouse as a convenience crop house. I don't use much of it for selling but rather for other uses such as cooking recipes I might need for buffs, coffee and so on. Besides it's nice to roleplay needing to eat everyday so keeping the greenhouse on the side for just crops I might need for cooking has been fun. I use the 5 iridium Sprinkler with pressure Nozzle set up so I have 119 spaces to use
    Currently growing in my Greenhouse are 9 Parsnips, 9 Blueberries, 9 Melons, 24 Coffee, 6 Corn, 6 Pineapple, 6 Hot Peppers, 6 Potatoes, 9 Sweet Gem Berries and 35 Starfruit. The last two are just for selling, a bit of extra gold on the side as passive income and as a way to use space
    I lined the outside with 1 of each type of all 8 fruit trees and 24 tea Saplings in garden pots which will grow tea every day all year round and never stop
    The dishes I use the greenhouse to create are:
    - Fruit Salad, the best food item in the game for Health and Energy regen (1 Blueberry, 1 Melon and 1 Apricot)
    - Farmers Lunch, Best farming Boost (1 Milk, 1 Egg and 1 Parsnip)
    - Tropical Curry, best foraging Boost (1 Coconut, 1 Pineapple and 1 Hot Pepper)
    - Oil, great cooking utility to have on hand just in case (Quite a few crops but I use the Corn for that)
    - Coffee, One of the best Speed Boosts in the game (5 of any same quality coffee bean)
    - Hashbrowns, Utility dish for other better dishes (1 Oil and 1 Potato)
    - Seafoam Pudding can't be made with anything grown in the greenhouse but you can with 3 fish ponds and Magic Rock Candy is the best food for Attack, Defense, Luck and speed but only second best for Mining and can't be made anyway
    The other crops, tea saplings and trees are mainly for added decoration, filling out space and a little extra money on the side of the main operation

      Nice. For caffeine junkie like me, espresso speed boost is a must.

      @Anska5126 27 днів тому

      @@calyco2381 That is one of the benefits of tea. Eternal produce fences. Did you know it's actually better to turn Tea leaves into green tea in a Keg than it is to turn them into pickled tea Leaves in Preserve jars? Green Tea sells for 140g and Pickled Tea sells for 210g but the producing time really hampers the Pickled Tea. Green tea only takes 3 in game hours to make in a Keg. Pickled Tea still needs the full 3 days in a Preserves Jar. By the time you got a 210g profit from your Pickled tea, your Keg would have given you 420g in Green tea since the tea Bush produces Tea Leaves daily. Unless you have a whole surplus of about 10 big sheds filled with 137 Preserve jars Each, it's not really worth making it into Pickled Tea
      Besides, Tea fences are pretty as hell

      @@RealBradMiller I'm not sure. I found a video from April 2016 and another from October 2017 and the inside of the greenhouse looks basically identical to today. The only difference I noticed is that the 2016 version has a few extra decorative tiles around the soil. Some bundles of wood, potted plants, that kind of thing. Maybe ConcernedApe removed them to free up space after he decided to let players plant fruit trees there.
      Edit: Found a patch note on the wiki.
      "1.3.27: Fruit trees can no longer be planted on top of decorations in the greenhouse border, or in the corners of the greenhouse."

    This went a different route than I was anticipating. Kudos for putting so much work into developing the different layouts and calculating revenue, you deserve more subscribers!
    One reason I probably wouldn't want the mushroom log / mystic tree route is that it's so hard to see what you're doing when you're harvesting. I'd find that frustrating.
    Could be a cool strategy for a challenge (eg "no artisan") playthrough though!

    Yup, I definitely get sick of chasing gold for the sake of it. I try to make just enough to meet the requirements of quests or aims I set myself such as upgrading my farm . I enjoyed seeing how you used the greenhouse differently and would welcome other suggestions for the greenhouse. I use mine primarily as a kitchen garden to supply pumpkins, corn , coffee etc to make the dishes I want to support my mine runs and fishing trips. Ginger island is where I do most dirt farming.

    I have done so many different things in the greenhouses of my many play throughs. I love the fruit trees and have made orchard farms as well as planing them in the greenhouse, though I usually do something else with the tillable tiles. I have plated wild trees in doors before 1.6 so, no mystic trees or mushroom logs. I just put 4 trees 2 oak and one each of maple and pine on the 4 corners of the boarder (the wood looking part) and tapped them. I have also filled the greenhouse with coffee. And tea bushes in a batista run. I usually always have at least one regular sprinkler of coffee for constant supply.😂

    i love the challenge you set out for yourself here-- I may do something like that on a future farm, just to force myself to branch out. the high productivity of fruit trees is especially compelling when coupled with the good value of some of those options. i may even do something like this for my current combat/mining playthrough; pomegranates for that underworld aesthetic+good value wine, surrounded by whatever crops i need for meals to bring with me into the caverns, etc.
    tbh i think of bulk ancient fruit/starfruit to be more of a midgame setup, for when you're deep in the grind. by endgame i have so much money coming in from so many well-established (and scaled!) sources that i want to make my greenhouse look beautiful, luscious and visually interesting, even if it's at the cost of profit!
    thanks for the vid! I got some fun ideas from this :)

I should *play* the game more rather than turning it into work. 1.6 expanded the content so much that it's no longer fun to have a 1-year schedule for getting "every" available early game thing done. The stretch is probably closer to what was intended for the game, considering Grandpa's evaluation.

    in terms of video topic suggestions, animal friendship is something i still dont fully understand 😭 like what do u have to do to get as many iridium products as possible? do u still need to manually pet every day if u have an auto-petter? With an ostrich or dino for example do u have to pet every single day if u want iridium eggs even though they'll only lay one a week?
    not sure if thats a big enough topic for a video but ive also been focusing on alternatives besides the star/ancient fruit wine playstyle so ive been dealing with animals a lot.

    • @Anska5126
      @Anska5126 3 місяці тому +1

      @@dodorik7114 I'm far from the animal expert as a main Crop Farmer but as I understand it, Pet the animals every day and open the door every day, close it at night. Letting animals outside will enable them to roam free in an area or all around your farm and will let pigs do their job for you but also they get to eat grass which sets their mood to full. Mood is the hidden setting randomised each day on a number of little things to make one big complex equation. Animals won't go out if it's raining so you have to have Hay in your Silo to feed them then. They need a Heater in Winter too. The Auto Petter and Auto feeder as I understand them are just luxury products to make your life easier. The Auto Petter won't give as much friendship as petting them yourself but an animal will eventually get to max hearts with you if you have one around
      As for alternative money making methods, why not try the Beach Farm? Not being able to use Sprinklers for your crops there is a great way to advertise the use of the other skills such as foraging and fishing, both which the Beach Farm cater to. Mushroom Logs and Tapping Trees is a great way to make foraging viable and you can get enough Seasonal seeds for tea saplings for just to outright plant them for more foraging XP. You won't have so many it becomes hard to water them all. With Fish Ponds and Fish Smokers Fishing is so advanced and powerful it might actually be on par with Farming in terms of money making. Both kinds of farms are now great options to pick as an alternative to farming Starfruit and Ancient Fruit all the time. Of course Mining is also way more lucrative now which also makes it viable. Something to think about

    I tend to lean more towards foraging than farming so I have always wondered how much money you can get if you used the green house for foragables. With agriculturalist and hyper speed grow your looking at 9 harvests a month according to the wiki. With botanist they are all iridium quality and gatherer giving a chance to double I figure it might be pretty lucrative. Especially for winter foragables as they are worth the most. Im curious as to how that might compare to the typical wine set up people use.

    My only nightmare in these alternatives is collecting, really..... SHAKING TREES AND COLLECTING FROM MUSHY LOGS AND GRABBING TREE GOOP IS...... A LOT. It'd be great if the iridium hoe could collect from all these things, pff. Otherwise, this all seems pretty easy going, in a way, besides the mushroom logs which just feel like a different kind of hyperfixation on efficiency vs ancient fruit and star fruit. I think dehydrators are a pretty easy thing to make a lot of since fire quartz are super farmable, too, in an effort of making all this even more satisfying with a few restrictions removed. Dehydrators truly unlocked the potential of berries and froot trees I think...
    Incidentally, I was terrified this video was going to go into animal products, based on the intro. I'm so glad it didn't. Sure, autograbbers and autopetters DO make everything a lot easier, but uh...... god making cheese and mayo becomes so exhausting eventually. Hate it. Rabbits and pigs can stay because they're fun, maybe even ostriches, but ALL THESE OTHER ANIMALS NEED TO LEAVE (anyway that's my tangent on why I hate barns and coops beyond beginning progression)

      @lachouette_et_le_phoque 3 місяці тому

      It's worth it if you have more of them than you can process in kegs, but you will get more gold in the end if you put all of them in kegs or jars, because the dehydrator takes 5 at a time. I'd use the dehydrator for overflow crops, basically.

    • @eruption678
      @eruption678 3 місяці тому +1

      I think wine is still better because dehydrating starfruit takes 5 starfruit which leads to a price of 5650 g or 7910 g w/ artisan for 1 dried, but each individual starfruit could become starfruit wine which becomes 11250 g or 15750 g w/ artisan total price for all 5.
      565 g/day preserved starfruit (or 791 g/day w/ artisan)
      703 g/day starfruit wine (or 984 g/day w/ artisan)
      in short, preserved starfruit is good when you're short on time, and need money quick, but if you can wait the extra 7 days for the wine making then overall wine takes the win

    yes peaches and cactus might be more profitable. however you have to harvest it every 3 days instead of every 7 days is not very time efficient. you spent a lot more time harvesting all that, and then you have to process 2-3 different crops into different artisan machines. you spent more in game time then you would with anything else. stick to ancient\star fruit. trying to outsmart proffesionals with math isnt gonna work. they already though way ahead of you.

      Cactus is definitely not more profitable than ancient fruit. The point of trying different setups was to do our best with the limitations on crops and artisan equipment set forth by specific challenges for the run, so cactus just worked well with the fruit trees. If you're just trying to make money, ancient fruit will probably be one of the quickest and simplest, though technically there are ways to beat it. Thanks for watching!
